Steve had the most technically perfect voice in rock bands. Perfect pitch is awesome. There was nothing to autotune even if we'd had autotune then. People have tried and there wasn't anything to autotune. Personally, even things that could have been autotuned on any of the singers back then would have destroyed what made the music great....the emotion and personality.
Couldn't agree more. All these people now days try to sing like him but they will never be able to copy such a talented and naturally angelic voice like Steve Perry.

You're right about the sound quality. People back then demanded Excellence from their vocalist and musicians. Rehearsals were long hard and brought to a level of perfection. Ask anyone who ever worked for Luther Vandross, James Brown, or even the great dr. Mattie Moss Clark. They will tell you these people were beasts when it came to rehearsals and getting it right. That's why we got such Top Notch music from these artists because they didn't settle for mediocre only for greatness
True! Like Zeppelin live. Journey is like Zeppelin when it comes to showing their talent "out" of the studio. As a matter of fact, they both sounded better live than in the studio in my opinion.
You don't get a better example of American rock music in the late 70's and 80's than Journey. All the bases of what makes for great rock music are covered by them. If you want your next Journey reaction try Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'

True story: My husband was actually at this show at The Summit in Houston in high school. We didn’t know each other yet. My parents were very strict and didn’t let teenage me go to concerts. When Michael heard I missed this iconic show? He bought the Blu Ray and “took me to the show” 30+ years later in our living room! 🤣

Steve is king to me. Listen to the entire Escape album. He's the reason I wanted to start singing rock at age 10. After listening to that album, I was changed. Listening to him taught me the vibrato technique. He's an awesome, talented man, but most of all a good man. Will love him forever! ❤ 🎶

Exactly what you said the solo guitarist is singing it's own music. It's awesome those are my fav parts when it comes to journey but also the singer has an amazing voice it all fits perfectly.
