Captain Mike you are a fantastic tv presenter Motivational yet practical and thank goodness not too over the top A great blend of fantastic information without being arrogant Sensational work Captain Mike Keep up the great work P.S lost 4 swords not landed one mainly solo (in Australia) living in Fiji wish to try again here thanks for the information maybe it will make me successful P.S.S. Crimping is easy agree best not to use snaps FYI they say I also yell with excitement when fishing but I also don’t believe them
AMEN! We watch these shows to learn, be entertained, and if these guys are lucky enough to find the target species with all that effort... show some respect. Like Pat said though, all the trolls are experts. LOL
Did you switch to circle hooks for sword fish, I watched one of the seminars in which you said something like there not being any j hooks on your boat.
Very hard to hook 'em with circle hooks from that depth, with ripping current. Swords often slash at bait and play with it before committing, J-Hook is much more effective in this application and venue. - Capt Mike
Sorry for the late response and thanks for watching. No doubt, total rat and barely a keeper, but sadly you cant always get the right one to bite when the cameras are rolling. We did lose a solid marker, maybe even a double marker that day just feet from the harpoon. What a heartbreak! Anyhow, thank you again. - Capt Mike
peterk814 Hi and thank you for watching. We have been daytime swordfishing many times and have released many juvenile fish. I make it a point not to kill anything under 100 pounds or so however with that being said, this was a special circumstance. When you're out filming with fishing/camera crew, the pieces to the puzzle dont always come together as expected or as hoped for, sometimes you have to take advantage of every opportunity to nail the episode, and I made that call on that particular day. The fish was a keeper by a few inches, but certainly no giant. Hope you understand and thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
peterk814 As long as the fish is legal to take home i will dart it and put it in the cooler. Even if its a millimeter over the size limit. Mike your great! keep those episodes coming.
xtremetech21 I hold people on TV to a bigger standard. And also its a SMALL ass sword, a gaff would have been just as easy to use. Either way I dont even respect people who cannot differentiate 'your' and 'you're'
peterk814 Hello and thank you for watching. While certainly a respectable fish, clearly this wasn't the biggest sword in the world and could have easily been gaffed. However my goal when producing the episode was to show the entire sequence from A-Z, which includes the need to harpoon swords. It was purely for educational purposes and to help complete the episode. - Capt Mike
+peterk814 where are your big swords not every sword is going to be a nickel have some respect for the guys they put 100% effort in every show so we can Learn/be entertained by the videos
Yes, the swordfishing off the Texas coast is excellent. They do however, have to run much farther offshore to get to deep water. Capt Mike

Negative, we only fish J-Hooks when sword fishing. - Capt Mike
Do you know if they catch these here in texas or is the water to shallow
ya they catch swords out of texas
If you just find large canyons or dropoffsthen their will be swordfish their.
why don't you circle hooks instead of the j-hooks

Was it necessary darting a juvie sword? You guys love killing smaller grouper and small fish in general. It amazing how hacks get on tv
