I've had hyperthyroidism since a teen. As I've gotten older, I'm now experiencing severe symptoms. Anxiety through the roof, extreme weight loss, aches and pains all over etc... I don't have health insurance, so the er visits for the Anxiety ( which I thought were heart attacks) I have to pay for. I'm going the natural route because I can afford it. I've found bugleweed and lemonbalm and it helps. I'm learning to.change my diet and limit stress. This is a roller-coaster of events, but God is with me. Praying for everyone going through this.

And along side that note your symptoms like when specific symptoms stop/start happening. I did this and when I changed doctors or see new ones it gave them so much info to work with and to consider when moving forward with treatment. Good luck🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️

@@ItsBonnieAdams Have you heard about iodine fueling the thyroid hormone? I decided to cut way down on my dietary iodine, and I haven't done pills or surgery, and it works 100%, my bulging eyes got better the same day which sounds fake but it's true, some foods high in iodine are seaweed, potatoes, eggs, chicken, dairy, black peppercorn and iodized salt. Raw cruciferous vegetables like broccoli are good to eat with meals because they block iodine absorption. To season my food I use the smallest amount of non-iodized salt, maybe 30 small grains of salt. All salt has some iodine even when iodine is not added, so that is why I limit it. I hope this helps!

gremlins 347 gremlins 347 this is actually something I saw and looked into myself. I cut soooo many things out of my diet a i always look for food that don’t include much iodine, gluten, and dairy. And it transformed my body entirely. So I do believe this 100%

Hi Bonnie - I know it's some years back but many thanks for making this brilliant video. I am one of the rare men diagnosed with Graves three months ago - so that's a bit of an exclusive club I didn't plan to join! I think mine was kicked off by an autoimmune reaction to Covid. Currently tapered to 10mg of carbimazole (UK) and just weaned myself off propranolol which is thankfully managing most symptoms but my eyes are sore so maybe developing TED as well :( Actually I loved the propranolol as a total chill pill but not so easy to wean off it. Glad to see you are making such great progress - you are an inspiration! Sending very best wishes.

Mica Tee trust me it gets better. I am at a point where personally through my own research radio active iodine and thyroidectomy is not an option for me. I refuse to believe that's my only ultimatum. And since learning more about how my own body operates I know these procedures would not improve my quality of life.
I research all the time. I've made slight diet changes lately like cutting out dairy and some gluten (mainly bread). Including more greens and nutritional food overall. And I've been gaining weight steadily as well.
Also for me finding the right doctor was a great help in kick starting my treatment (and don't be aftraid to travel some for a good doc too) Even though I was on medications their focus was to get me to a point where I'd be on such tiny dose. This allowed me to implement more natural remedies to speed that process up too. When you have a background such as Caribbean or African you have no choice but to find healthy way to a cure. Good luck my friend

My family has not been empathetic. I feel pretty upset over how my family is reacting to me.

Happy to see you doing airtight. Makes me happy, you have a very upbeat attitude, its wonderful. Also do you know of any natural plants or foods to help balance the hyperthyroidism?

CameronCosmos thank you. Well I am in the same position finding out the best foods to eat and what to avoid. Along with my regular Endo. visits, I plan to have a consultation with a nutritionist and a holistic doctor to find first hand the best nutritional advice for my own body. There's so much info out there that I found myself getting overwhelmed with everything. But I'm taking one step at a time. I started cutting out processed and artificial foods, eating organic fruits, vegetables and grass fed meats, being aware of what I'm allergic to, taking vegan multivitamins, and eating more foods known to benefit the immune system. There's many more micro adjustments I've done in my life that I will definitely share in due time, but I'm giving them time to work.

Thank you for sharing. My daughter is going through this. The pediatric endo Dr. has never recommended nutritionist or getting labs for vitamins. Either methimazole, RIA, or surgery. Primary Dr attributes other symptoms. (She is now slightly hypo.) to anxiety. They aren't listening. Time get a nutritionist and a new endo that is more concerned about the other symptoms and labs besides the TSH, t4, t3.

Firstly I’m sorry that she is going through this, however she’s in good hands with your mindset. Always go with your gut instinct with a physician. Remember drs are people too and can sometimes come with their own bias and ignorance to your pain. You have all the right to request/suggest more labs or for them to dig a little deeper.
I am in search of nutritionist/naturopath atm so I wish you all the best and happy healing.

then you take those records and set up a second opinion visit with another Endo if your insurance company allows it. I know its beena few months since you made this comment so hopefully things have balanced out but if not i definitly encourage you to try what i suggested above.. all the best

Hi, I am 40 and have been living with Graves Disease for 4 years now. I know every journey is different and I am not telling anyone what to do, but please take some advice. Before you get surgery or radioactive iodine treatment research your gut health and learn about your immune system. Our bad gut health is what is causing this disease. Our thyroids are not the true, deep problem, they are just a symptom.
Also, for anyone who hasn't tried it yet Vitamin D is very helpful and important. Get a vitamin d test from your doctor and most likely it is very low.

@@ColdsideRamrod I hope you're well. Keep an eye on it. I developed symptoms pretty rapidly but my TSH numbers were on the border .29-.33. One time they even went up to.41. Then they dived to .1 and I have goiters now/had growths removed as a child. Things can change. I just started methimazole.

Do you remember what your labs are? My T3 is 19.6 and my T4 is 6. I was diagnosed a month and a half ago. How are my #’s compared to the rest of you? Is anyone in the chat higher than me?

    • @ItsBonnieAdams
      @ItsBonnieAdams  Рік тому

Those are very abnormal results. At my worse, my T4 Free was somewhere between 5 closer to 6. Now I’m about 1.09. My T3 total at my worst was at about 500, which steadily went between high 200s and normal 100s ranges. But now I’m at 95
      Please note:
Sometimes the labs that are tested are specific to you so I would err on the side of caution when knowing other pueoples labs are in relation to how you feel.
One thing my doctor did do was evaluate more of my TSH and TSI levels and antibody levels. It’s not enough to just check your t4 and t3 when you have Graves because if you have hyperthyroid because of the autoimmune condition, your antibodies are what dictates the t4 and t3 levels. (as well as tyrottopin, cbc and hepatic levels, There can be many reasons your t4/t3 levels can be off, so sometimes not enough to evaluate your medication level.
Hopefully, that makes sense to you. And all the best with your healing.

@@ItsBonnieAdams It must be a different T3. I just got new labs after being on beta blockers. My T4 Free, Direct went from a 6 to 4.89, so that is good. The range should be between .82 - 1.77; My TSH still shows there is none…below 0.005; Triiodothyronine (T3) scores 447, the range should be between 71-180; My Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) AB is 468, should be 0-64; Triiodothyronine (T3), free is 19.6, should be 2-4.4. Hope this helps. I’m new at understanding what this all is.
MY doctor but me on 40mg of Methimazole and 20mg of Propranolol. The Methimazole gave me Vertigo and hives so he lowered the dose to 20. I understand I have to take something because my resting heart rate has gone up to 138. He keeps pressuring me to take it out or get radiation. At this point I want to give my body what it needs to heal. But at what point is it too much on the heart?
Right now I am taking a lot of supplements, cutting out iodine and gluten/soy. Trying to eat lots of broccoli, kale, cabbage.

I'm currently on 2.5 mg of methimazole a day. That's down from 5mg. Before that I was on 40 mg with my old Endo. Because of the higher doses I've been very very hypothyroid. They are currently trying to get me at a normal level without so much medication rubbing through my system

@@ilqar887 there’s no cure per say but naturally you can try lessen the symptoms until it goes into remission usually after two years, since the eye condition is a diagnosis all in it’s own. At first I ate a few Brazil nuts which is rich in Selenium. It’s great for your thyroid as well as eyes. Then later I just took selenium supplements and that helped a bunch. Mention it to your Endo and they might refer you to see a ophthalmologist that specialises in TED. They’ll start to monitor and measure your eyes over the course of 2 years or so before suggesting something invasive to treat it
