The Ghoul on repeated viewings, knowing how awesome he actually is, seems to be teaching them how to survive. He’s a dad through and through. Like, he could have dropped Max but he knew how green Max was. Or Lucy and the water. I loved how they wrote his character.
With Lucy, I think it's moreso a bitter attempt at justifying his own actions. He was always going to sell her after all, so that wasn't teaching. More-so I think she reminded him of the good man he used to be, and so he needed to prove to himself that anyone in his position would have become the same thing.
Her defying that with an act of kindness is what forces him to reconsider what he'd become.

My running theory is despite vault-tec planning to drop the bomb the peace talks failed anyways and bombs started dropping. This explains why Cooper would have his kid with him despite his wife knowing the planned date. Thus she sent vault-tec security to pick up her kid overpowering him and taking her so he doesn't know her actual location. This also helps maintain House's preparations since as a part of the conglomerate meeting he would also know the date and would have actually had the platinum chip ready as opposed to a day or so late.
There is a hint during the party at Cooper's house. He drop a newspaper saying that american troops are setting foot in China, which more or less leads to the original theory that China launch their nuclear weapons first because they were losing the war.
True, I also thought that “dropping the bomb ourselves” meant they would engineer a scenario to cause enough conflict for another country to drop the nukes.

But they definitely either dropped bombs during the Great War as evidenced by the bomb that sits in the middle of Megaton or they were the predominant producer of nuclear armaments. That or when the Great War started, Vault Tec took the opportunity to drop additional bombs around the United States in order to have their vision FULLY realized and not just somewhat realized.
Probably someone wrote it already, but the Chicken Fricker's serum is the same drug that turned Hancock into a Ghoul, probably just watered down.
Still think that's dumb. Sure, it's consistent with that throw away line in FO4, but it doesn't track with the way ghouls used to be. They weren't unstoppable killing machines, for one.

When the ghoul tells Lucy 'I'm you just give it a little time' I took that to mean "You will become just as jaded and depraved as me trying to eek out an existence up here" more so than "you will become a ghoul."

I was a little surprised people thought he meant becoming a ghoul when everything, and I mean everything about their exchanges and scenes together were about her needing to adapt and change to survive in the wasteland, like he did / does.

The Minutemen ending in Fallout 4 can also result in the Prydwen and Elder Maxon surviving. The quest to lead the Minutemen into destroying the Brotherhood is entirely optional, and only triggered if you become hostile with the BoS after the ending of the main quest.
So the Minutemen ending could also be the canon ending for Fallout 4.
Aw hell naw, Preston still giving out "another settlement needs our help" quests 9 years into the present day. 😂
There is an alternate way with The Minutemen route where all factions except The Institute can survive post game. The problem is the process of getting this is extremely tricky, if not a bit glitchy if not done right.
@@Auster9376 imo, It's rather simple:
- Don't complete the point of no return quests for the Railroad or Brotherhood (Underground Undercover & Blind Betrayel)
- Become hostile with the Institute during Act 3
- If you do the Battle for Bunker Hill quest before becoming hostile with the Institute, make sure to join the Railroad and BoS beforehand (this quest is also a good point narrative-wise to be banished by Institute. Just tell Father the truth that you freed the synths)
After that, getting the ending where the Minutemen is at peace with the Railroad and BoS is very straightfoward.

@@FeCyrineu You can still complete Blind Betrayal and have the Minutemen ending! Just anytime you have Danse as a companion, you'll be hostile to the BoS - so stay away from the police station and the airport, and you'll be fine. But as soon as you dismiss him, they're over it.
One theory I have for the ghoul’s pistol is that it operates like the gyro jet which is a real pistol that shot rockets instead of bullets.

Cooper= 100th play through
Maximus= that one play through we all did giving character low int to see the dialog options.
I also thought Cooper's gun was like the quarter gun from resident evil after life.

I think the medicine that the ghouls take is because of FEV. The Enclave was messing with it trying to introduce it to project purity and was stopped by the lone wanderer. But we also know that the institute was messing with it too. Maybe someone fucked around and made some FEV turning wastelanders to ghouls, and Ghouls to Farel ghouls. Medicine was developed to stop it.

According to some rumors Deathclaws were going to be practical suits like the Power Armor, but the showrunner didnt want to show them immediately because he wanted to make the deathclaws look and feel menacing but didnt have the time. Could be bs, could be true, who knows.
Also in regards to Cooper telling Lucy "Im you, just give it a little time." I believe he meant 'Im a hardened survivor, you will be too.'
makes sense, he probably saw several survivors come and go from the vault, especially the vault dweller and the chosen one, even if he didn't interact with them, so maybe he notice, people that can survive or are lucky to survive the first days on the wasteland can become hardened survivors.

Maybe, or maybe enough time in the wasteland makes someone stop giving a fuck, never getting rid of the rads, and turning. Considering he was like her, pretty pure and trying to do the right thing, once upon a time. Not initially giving up in terms of choosing to be a dick, but giving up trying to survive, or be healthy or whatever. Maybe then the progression of turning into a ghoul, then having everyone treat you like shit(which everyone does to ghouls in FO), then THAT makes them turn into an asshole.
Since we arent getting season 2 till 2026 id say this is true. Theyre going to spend time working on the cgi for a while before releasing
My personal theories are
1. The legion will be prominent in season 2. I base this on the reality that in the games the brotherhood uses Latin phrases and Roman style rankings. In the show they don’t really do that. To me that is the show altering it so they can bring in the legion for season 2 and not confuse nongaming fans with multiple factions having Roman influence.
2. I believe they’re hiding the enclave armour for 2 reasons. One it will be a hell of a reveal when it comes. And secondly it prevents non game fans from getting confused between who’s who when it comes to the brotherhood and enclave.
3. I believe the reason cooper only mentions his family at the end is because that will be the quest of the second season, and each season like each game has its own specific quest. With sometimes side quests being connected to other games. Lucy’s dad being a side quest in season 2.
3. I’m 100% certain that super mutants will be around in season 2. I believe the enclave will be using them like frank horrigan. Which maybe how they bring in the enclave power armour.
4. Thadius is definitely gonna be a mutant. He’s 100% given the FEV.
my only issue in all of that would be the frank horrigan thing ngl, would ruin the uniqueness of frank and not making him as special as he is. (Being the only behemoth in power armor.)
24:22 Well, in episode (2? I believe? I forget easy.) we see the doctor in the enclave base with his doggo (forgot their names too, something doctor and x404 or smth), we can see that soldiers roll a table past the doctor, and we zoom in to see a big green hand sticking out from underneath the tarp, which is, what I can only assume to be, a super mutant hand, so we may see one S2!
I don't think that they confirmed that Vault Tec dropped the bomb, at best we got that they were open to doing so.
They’ve always hinted at Vault Tek being the ones to drop it because we never knew “which country did it” but Vault Tech was as big as America pretty much, think of it as bigger then Amazon right? I think that it was meant to be our confirmation that they did drop it, as well as not making vault tech this Unidentified Faceless Corporation as it used to be. If they dropped the bombs then it kinda adds them into thT Big faction group of Enclave, BOS, NCR and some others. Technically it’s not confirmed but then pretty much saying “We will drop the bombs ourselves if need be” means that they are either Responsible or they just hadn’t dropped there bombs yet but we’re going to regardless of on the war started or not. And to me that’s just as evil because who’s to say they didn’t at least fire back or Nuke certain areas on purpose themselves

Its been said its a Russian MTs255, with a sawed off barrel. That gun has been available since 2018, as a mod for Fallout 4.
@@Tijuanabill The MTs255 has a 5 shot cylinder while the revolver in the show has a 4 round cylinder....... that would require lots of work on the inside of the gun to make the timing match

There are several brief close ups of the ammunition being fired. It appears to resemble a tiny fatman and it makes a sound similar to the m79 grenade launcher. I think its firing some kind of gyro jet or grenade.

Why does everyone forget the ghoul doctor in Fallout 3?
Dr Barrows is in the medical area called The Chop Shop in The Underworld.
He was taking care of Riley from Riley's Rangers.
He had been studying ghoulification since before the games events, which was 20 years before the show.
He had feral ghouls in quarantine and said he was hoping to find a cure.
So it's logical that he found some kind of serum in the last 20yrs to prevent some from going feral.
That said, if you watch The Ghoul, he hacks a lot and shows signs of being a drug addict outside the Super Duper Mart.
Maybe the serum uses Jet or something else as a base or delivery system.
maybe its a form of radaway and rad-x. There is also the ghoul in Fallout 3 who is making ultrajet. Some of them are chemists
Jet doesn't really effect ghouls hence why they invented ultrajet
Yeah in his terminal thats bugged in normal gameplay but is considered cannon because it should be normally openable, he states that he has narrowed the difference in mutation down to the spine, where hes found that it causes rapid regeneration of some systems but not others, ie parts of the brain, and the bodys movement systems, but lets the other parts die, like your hair skin muscle ect, as well as the parts of the brain that deal with impulse and control, which when they degrade leads too them becoming feral. so i honestly wouldn't be surprised if its a derivative of rad away that targets those parts of the body and brain and inhibits the decay or cleanses the radiation for a time stopping the decay, which is why they go crazy when not used. I also think the drug is there to highlight a difference in cobbs ghoulification, because his withdrawal symptoms from it seem much different from other ghouls, but that could just be because he is only in the early stages of it still.
thank you for giving a potential logical conclusion to the anti-feral ghoul drug in the show. i was reading comments about how it was canon but nothing about where the information was from about these anti-feral drugs. at least your comment made sense about where it could have come from and who may have developed it. a lot of fans tend to jump on the bandwagon but provide so little information to argue their points.

if you listen to the background of the some scenes ( one scene is when Dr. Wilzig is at the yao guai cave) you can actually hear the sound of a super mutant hound. It happens a few times throughout the show!
I was sad we didn't get to see super mutants but it is a nice reference letting us know like " oh they around" yk
13:41 its wadcutter style ammo. Basically a hollow point round designed to open like a flower on hit instead of fragmenting, which means it imparts most of its force when inside and since the rounds are generally stronger ough for punch through they take a sizable chunk with them.
How the heck does it penatrate armor so easily t 60 is cast not wielded and last I checked the only things that can rip through it is a death claw .50 cal and constant fire from weapons and well mini nuke beats everything
When the ghoul was telling lucy that she would turn into him, he was more or less saying how she will lose that naïve innocence and turn into a killer like him the more she is exposed to the wasteland
[SPOILER FALLOUT SEASON 1] She sorta did. She was going to shoot her dad, and she got rid of the tranquilizer gun for the 10mm pistol. In the beginning, she tried negotiating instead of violence. But closer to the end, she considered violence more as an option than a last resort

charisma is more than just appearance. It is presence and you can't deny that the ghoul has in spades is presence. He just doesn't use it to be diplomatic. And he does get away with things others would get way more trouble for. Granted not many seem able to stop regardless lmao.
Exactly. Appearance helps your charisma, but plenty of non-attractive people are prolific and popular politicians and like. Also, as someone else pointed out, he was a VERY popular (and good) actor before the bombs dropped, even after he lost his career. It's natural that he'd be able to project his charisma.
Yes, he was a famous actor so should charisma should be close to 10, also perception and endurance should probably be 10, since he is a sharpshooting ghoul that can sustain mortal wounds. Lucy should have 10 luck, especially after the events in the vault and Super Duper Mart lol... and Maximus higher endurance and luck for surviving so much.

the ghoul's pistol is a revolver shotgun pistol which is a real gun, they essentially just took the original and sawed the barrel down to the size of a handgun and sawed the stock off or put on a wooden grip that doesn't have a stock (look up MTs255 for reference). looks like he shoots explosive slugs out of it.
My biggest gripe would have to be them not actually shooting energy weapons like they showed a couple but I didn’t see any plasma balls or laser beams anywhere. The brotherhood of steel had a bunch of lead thrower guns, which was just kind of weird
In reality it makes more sense for them to be less likely to use energy weapons as liberally as we see ingame.
They have almost no way to make new fusion cells and plasma cells compared to ballistics which is just gunpowder brass and lead or even teeth.
Energy weapons would be more expensive to fire than most would be willing to afford unless it was needed

Honestly that was probably a production limitation. I’d imagine it’s not exactly easy or cheap to translate laser weapons to look really good on a tv budget, maybe they wanted to wait until more seasons were secured and they had a larger budget before bringing them into the fold.
I’ll be honest tho it doesn’t really bother me, aside from a few exceptions like Gatling Lasers I ain’t really a huge fan of energy weapons lol
@@smokedbeefandcheese4144 Theyre different than they were, other people have pointed out these BOS are very very Legionary in style and names. So its canon that Ceasar loses, probably because he dies from the tumor, his legion scatters and some become BOS.

I honestly believe the ghoul custom made that pistol from a revolver style shotgun and sawed it down and made custom 12g shells look on UA-cam how easy it is to put anything into a 12g shell and can fire only interesting thing is his explosive ammo looked like tiny mini nukes with the fins and everything but it’s definitely a 12g with custom shells.
A super mutant arm can also be seen on an autopsy table in emclave hq
The Minutemen Ending in Fallout 4 has the potential to end with all factions except for the Institute surviving- The Sole Survivor can end the game with the Railroad, Brotherhood of Steel, and the Minutemen intact without any conflict between the 3 factions, the Brotherhood of Steel just gets salty because the Minutemen get the credit for destroying the Institute. So it's possible that the show is hinting that the cannon ending is an ending where the Minutemen destroy the Institute with the help of the Sole Survivor and the Brotherhood leaves the East Coast in the hands of the people of the Commonwealth (The Minutemen lead by the Sole Survivor). There's more than just one ending to Fallout 4 that the show can pick from.
Honestly, I always saw The Minutemen ending where the rest of the factions survive as being the cannon ending because it makes the most sense. As much as I love lighting that metal eyesore of an airship up with Minutemen fire power, I know that Bethesda would never let their precious Brotherhood of Steel get wiped out like that so I've only done it once with a save scum just because I think the peaceful ending is the best outcome (and I don't want to have to kill Scribe Haylen).
It's also an intended ending for the game as you get special dialogue for it.
I leave my save 1 dialogue away from bombing the shit out of the brotherhood and made the castle so powerful it can fight them off without my help. I just watch the show then revert to previous save occasionally
I still think the institute ending is the canon one, they literally are build around the brotherhoods biggest weakness, numbers, it's how the NCR beat them
@@goopguy548 Well think about it from a storytelling point of view. If they go with the Minutemen and multiple factions making it ending, they have 3 factions for storytelling. If they go with the Institute winning they loose 3 and one of them is super iconic to the series.
doubtful considering the new direction of the Brotherhood and the fact that their orders are coming from the Commonwealth direct, much much more likely that they made the Canon ending be the BOS taking over the entirety of the Commonwealth
I don't know how much the Brotherhood actually respects each other. For instance in New Vegas, several knights in power armor tried to murder a little female scribe just cause she talked up to an Elder.

Which isn't true, Veronica's whole quest is to try and convince the elder to open up, soyoubring her around the Mojave to see first hand how well everyone else is doing. Then you need to get some pre-war tech.
Hell the elder even agrees with Veronica that they will die out but still decides to keep themselves cut off from the rest of the wasteland. There are a bunch of fucking idiots, who requires your word, the new guy, to even convince the Elder. Not the born and raised BoS member.

@@crafterofdoom Several knights in power armor really did try to murder Veronica (a low ranking scribe whose job is to fetch groceries) for the sole reason she was uppety to the elder because she wanted the Brotherhood to be more friendly towards outsiders and take on new members as their isolationist ways was killing them. You (the Courier) just happened to be there. Veronica also states, she loves the Brotherhood but some of them can be assholes.

The Ghoul seems to use a cutdown MTs255 .410 Revolver shotgun as his pistol. Shotgun shells come in a very high variety and can be modified pretty easily with the right knowledge. Cooper being a prewar Military Ghoul probably uses modified high explosive .410 shells to cause holes like he does.
I can’t explain those crazy mandoknockoff homing rounds he has but they are pretty dang cool.

The ghouls four shot sawed off rifle appears to be a shotgun that has slugs (possibly rocket propelled?) loaded instead of buckshot.
The old lady types in coordinates to show Lucy where to take the dude with the dog and the power chip thing to moldaver, when she did that that explains how we’ve gotten every quest marker ever.
When she stuck the tracker in the heads nose that explains how we are able to place custom markers on the map.
Also in the minutemen ending it is NOT required for you to kill the railroad or brotherhood unless you pissed them off yourself during your playthrough.
22:22 they kinda did a fatman VATS kill when the ghoul started using that special ammo (the ammo the actor fumbles around w/ because its too big to actually be loaded) The bullet had the flanges of a mini-nuke

I mostly agree with your assessment of the series. There was one comment you made about the grulification of characters. Just to remind you that Hancock from fallout 4 turned himself into a ghoul. Also when Cooper told Lucy " You're me, just give it a little bit of time" I don't think in any way shape or form. He meant that she was going to turn into a ghoul. I think he meant "I'm a killer and a survivor and you will be too"

@@Naiwal You are right that before it was established that ghoulification doesn't just happen to everybody, but rather those with an inherent mutation which reacts to radiation differently than everybody else, I'm not sure about this new stuff added to ghoul lore but I guess technically that original lore fact could still exist along with this new reality of ghouls.
@@Naiwal it is also dependent on genes and that there are multiple types of ghouls. Dean Domino wasnt 100% sure if he needed to even eat or drink and he had no fear of going feral as he was stuck in a place where he only had water on the walls to lick for a while.
Then the billy kid who was allegedly stuck for 200 years with nothing but air and rads.
And there are people who immediatly turn feral upon turning.

I think they're basing The Ghoul's charisma on the fact that he was a famous actor before the war. (Edit: It was pointed out that it's not the actual Vault Tech logo on the bomb in Megaton, it just looks very similar but is slightly different).
The bomb in megaton doesn’t have a vault Tec logo on it though….

@24:30 - at the Enclave remnant facility they do tease a Supermutant under one of the gurneys, it's when the scientist takes the dog away from getting chipped and carries the dog to his quarters!
If you look during the ghoul shoot out seen during the slow-mo shot, the bullet he uses in his pistol/small shotgun maybe? Is designed like a mini-nuke. So it’s thought of that it’s a mini-mini-nuke hehe, but yeah like it’s basically the tiniest nuclear/maybe just high explosive, type of bullet you can put. So I really hope we get the mini-mini-nuke launcher at some point since it’s beautifully dumb and fitting. Though in a more realistic sense it’s just a one shot shotgun like gun that fires a shell filled with some kinda explosive material like thermite, could also be filled with a pellet like a shotgun shell, I forgot the specific name of it but yeah it would be like a mini cannon ball to the chest.
Anyone else feel like Thaddeus isn't a Ghoul but a FEV mutant

I feel like if his healing factor or whatever you want to call it was how Ghouls work they would've shown that off with "The Ghoul". We see "The Ghoul" get shot and keep walking without hardly caring. But he doesn't really seem to have supernatural healing so much as supernatural durability at least as far as we're shown. We do see him replace his finger? But that seems more like another display a durability to me. Where his body doesn't care as much about bio-compatibility for body parts.
@ecothunderbolt257 tbf your body can re-attach lost limbs if done in the right amount of time naturally, I could be wrong but your body can also re attach to a foreign limb and re build its genetic code but I think that was a myth but then again with how insane the human body is I wouldn't doubt it

In a interview the show head writer were very precise about the Vault Tec dropped the bombs thingy, Vault Tec planned to drop we don't know if they did.
But I decided that before watching the show that it was going to be trash... so I made a bunch of assumptions that the show didn't tell me but I will pretend they did so I can get really mad and look like a fool when people tell me I'm making stuff up but I will double down on my nonsense and hatred.
The Ghouls pistol works similar to an old gun design called the Gyrojet. It's basically a gun that fires rockets out of it. It never really saw much mainstream success but there are videos with guys firing it and it's wicked.
For the ghouls gun at 13:27 if you watch episode 2 at about 41:14. You can see a close up of the round he fires which seem to be a mini rocket. Likely an armor piercing type that hits the first layer and then detonates a few seconds later. I Imagine its loaded like a revolver given its shape. In game this would likely just be a bullet that detonates on impact.
The geiger counter did not pick him up because he was wearing the standard issue suit which protects you from rads. So the rads being covered by the suit wouldn't set it off until he was undressed.

This is actually the best explanation I've seen yet. Cause at the very least the Maintenance Technicians for the vault like Chet would have had their Geiger counters on. But if the suit stops the rads that neatly ties up the plot hole.

My assumption with the lack of laser weapons is that they didn't want things to get TOO sci-fi too fast. Introducing laser weapons without some buildup for the audience would make a non-Fallout fan confused why suddenly things have turned into Star Wars.
We'll probably get a proper introduction to them with the Brotherhood next season. Y'know, like Maximus trying one out in a firing range. From there, they'll start popping up everywhere.

14:46 Those are initiates and they are recruited savages since the BoS lost so many people it can no longer rely on just its own original members and their offspring. Something similar is shown in Brotherhood of Steel, where you play as a savage-turned-BoS - the BoS do not treat you as an equal in boot camp and they take a while to acknowledge any achievements.
The ghoul's gun can be used in fallout 4 with the MTs-255 mod. He uses an MTS-255 revolver shotgun modified with a short barrel and pistol grip. He switches between explosive and armor piercing slugs.
My biggest problem with the plot is Moldaver. Why would she attack the vault with Raiders if she was an NCR leader? Doesn't make sense
They assumed she used Raiders, they were irradiated and from the surface. Lucy a vault dweller made an assumption. They could just be her NCR remnants, especially since they are protecting civilians in episode 8
She was presented as a leader in the ncr before the bombing of shady sands. She was able to organize raiders who used to be ncr citizens using her former position. I assume she didn't want to use any of her own people to avoid hank recognizing one of them
That's easy. NCR forces under her command are small in number, so she hires disposable raiders to help her kidnap Hank. If some die or get captured in the process, it doesn't harm her or her mission in any way, shape or form.
NCR collapsed after shady sands. She leads the survivors.

I loved the TV show! I thought it’d suck based off of their early released scene, but I was pleasantly surprised! My jaw was on the floor during the….meeting…towards the end, I didn’t think they’d just give it to us like that after all this time 😂
If im not mistaken, they're using AP Rounds modified with Gyro Jets. Some munitions prior to the great war were fitted with gyro jet systems on the munitions platform themselves to allow for more accurate firing of ballistic arms in a time that was rampant with Energy and Plasma Weaponry. The Colt 6250 10mm Hand Gun shown in Fallout's TV show is the same Colt 6250 10mm Handgun and they're more akin to a mag-fed Revolver (the wiki states this) than a cylinder revolver. I assume the rounds feed from the mag into the cylinder to allow for it to hold more ammunition. The Gyro Jet + Armor Piercing ammunition is probably what punches that massive hole through everything. Or Cooper Howard has 'Bloody Mess' and any target that falls below 0 hp just dies instantly in a gory mess.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but in New Vegas the vault on the Strip was filled partially in with concrete by Mr House. My theory is that something is going on with that. Why would he fill it in with concrete for no reason? There has to be some kind of underlying motive to it. If he made an agreement with vault-tec in some way, perhaps he was trying to mitigate their ability to actually do anything on their end by closing off the vault that they had access to. I think Hank is going to try and get into that vault. No clue what they're going to do with it though.
I also really like the theory that's been going around that basically says that the Ghoul serum is just a placebo, and that all of the ghouls on the west coast are being duped. Then again there's also Oswald in Kiddie Kingdom. Assuming the positive ending for him, he goes into the wasteland to try and continued his wife's work for a serum to help ghouls, ideally to turn them back into humans, but keeping them from going feral is possible too.

Actually since Cooper and his daughter were "surprised" by the bombs dropping. I'd say vault tech didn't drop the bombs....she wouldn't let her daughter die.
I don't think vault tec dropped the bombs fr. They were obviously willing to, but would Barb Howard have been caught off guard like that? Or did she not care about her daughter?
It seemed like The Ghoul had 2 firearms, a pistol and a lever action, its possible they used the same round and he definitely had cartridges on his rig, but there are also cartridges that that have pellets in them much like a shot gun shell. It is also worth noting that the rounds visible on his rig had different types of rounds on the end, and it looked like one of them has a cylinder which would make it easier to pick which round you wanted to fire after they have been loaded. Those rounds are also massive like a .458 socom or .50 beowulf. Hope this helps.
His rifle is just a 45-70, that pistol is a 12 gauge firing explosive rounds.
I do agree that the tracker makes sense, since we are able to set points and track certain characters. I guess the fact that your HUD consistently displays the rad levels also makes the geiger counter make more sense.
The Ghoul's pistol looks to be some sort of gyrojet. Look closely at the actual round once it's left the barrel towards the target.
The Ghoul's charisma stat is probably raised by his pre-war past as an actor/ celebrity.

I have a theory that Maximus is going to be the one to save Norm from vault 31. He was knocked out when Lucy left with Cooper & the only thing he knows about where she could be is when she told him to find her in Vault 33 right before he was taken by the BoS. He’s going to go to the tri-vaults and through sheer luck is going to rescue Norm. Maybe we will have him and Norm searching for Lucy together. I don’t know, but I think that’s where he would go next based on the limited knowledge he has.
Been seeing people wonder why the ghoul has high charisma, he was a actor amd alot of people liked him in the past. Do you lose special points after awhile or has he always had these stats pre war.
the info we have on the fall of shady sands comes from a classroom. it can be speculated that this 'fall' is an ideological one, possible pertaining to the first battle of hoover dam signifying an over-extension of the ncr resources that led to the eventual demise of shady sands due to a lack of resources to protect it from attack.
The ghoul doc in the underworld was doing ghoul research, specifically into how they are made and why. That's an easy out for who made the feral resistance drug
The ghouls gun appears to be some sort of lever action shotgun. We see him shoot several different types of rounds. There's buck shot (I think he shot a couple of rounds of double ought buck), the one we can clearly see looking like a little nuclear bomb and used in the town fight are explosive rounds that penetrate a target before exploding and the final one I saw was air piercing sabo rounds (like what they use in modern tanks) which is what he used to pierce the power armor in its weak point...
I would say vault tech did not confirm to drop the bomb, all it actually did is show they wanted to. They could very well been planning to drop them then someone else beat them to it.
I'd agree but most of the staff got safely to vaults to be frozen. However, there are loose ends and a sloppy execution, like House not getting his chip pre war (I'm sure he had the influence to delay it all by a day), or some vaults not being finished. It's possible that vault hype was dying and they had to before they got cut or something but idk.

I think the Geiger counter was off at first because they literally would have never needed it in their lives at that point, and then was constantly on at least for Lucy because it saved her life. Or at least that's my headcanon.
in my headcannon its a "Feature" that has to be turned on. I recently started a f03 run for the first time and its the only time I got that there are different "series" of pip boys. Maybe in these ones the geiger counter being "on" all the time is something you have to turn on, maybe its a power draw thing that isn't needed in the vaults.
If you need to use head canon to justify then it's a plot hole. The show is filled with them
It wouldn't exactly make sense for that to be something that is always on. Pip-Boys were used primarily in a vault setting. The only folks that would probably need that on constantly are maintenance workers.
That said, Maintenance Workers like Lucy's cousin Chet ARE present when they open the door. So it should've went off then.

Here's my counter. FO4 has someone with no training in pipboy pick one up and use it immediately. It automatically detects radiation. It never turns off.
Why? The wearer wasn't supposed to be going outside.
Because radiation means stuff from outside is somehow getting inside, or it means that one of the many fission power sources they use is leaking.
If the radiation checker was needed only for going outside, why bother putting that in everyone's pip boys? Just let them use a geiger counter.
They have geiger counters in Fallout, they are referenced over and over.
the ghouls gun fires little fat "tiny nuke" bullets that even say "boom" on them, they pack a big punch and then explode afterwards, you can see it shoot through people and explode behind them or when it impacts a leg and explodes a second or so later. later on in the show he switches to his short rifle and uses a weird drill bullet with that, probably some kind of armor piercing.
I feel like the ghoul serum isnt for every ghoul in the wasteland. I think its just for ghouls that have been exposed with too much radiation that they will turn feral soon. For example, Cooper is always a wandering bounty hunter that go from place to place so naturally he'd be exposed to more radiation than other ghouls that are settling like in the NCR administration in the last episode which i dont think need any of those special vial. It explains how cooper seems to heal quickly from bullet wounds bcs well, he absorbs radiation to heal just like feral ghouls in the games. And to counteract the feral-ification, ghouls like Coop has to drink those vials
I like to think of it as the process of turning feral is all in the mental state of the ghoul. That’s why we see them in the process of turning feral saying their name clinging to what humanity they have left. I believe that the drug they take puts their mind at ease and relaxes them. As we only see coop needing the Chem after doing something inhumane and briefly only focusing on getting more chems he sees his holotape movies and is not in need of more chems after that

Also, why is Moldaver ALIVE?! It's 200+ years in the future, and she's not a ghoul. If she had stayed alive I would of just thought they would tell us later. But, no, she died so that's not likely to happen.
There is so much more too. Like people bending time and space to catch up with each other, or how Vault Tech was using cryopods BEFORE testing them in Vault 111. This is Fallout 4 stuff! They're even vital to 33's breeding program.

Ghouls gun is a lever action rifle from fo4 (the short version). But seems to shoot custom shotgun slugs from NV. Particularly the explosive rounds. He seems to have several varieties on his ammo belt

I think thaddeus drank raw FEV not ghoul juice. Just my guess because being a ghoul doesnt mean you can survive a neck shot but FEV will rapidly heal before continuing and mutating you like the master

Ive literally played every fallout since release. In 1997 I was 20. This show made me immediately smile and it didnt stop at all. Ive neber been a hard fallout fan, just a fan of all of it. It felt good.

It’s a brave take for sure. It was the first Elder Scrolls game I ever played. I bought it used for the Xbox 360 and it was one one of the few times I was truly enthralled by a game. I’m a NV fanboy, but Oblivion also has a very special place in my heart.
Oblivion is massive and the questlines have multiple steps, makes the world feel really fun. One memorable quest is when you randomly and inevitably get the vampire disease, after not curing it for a certain amount of days. And it triggers a whole questline learning more about the noble lord guy who is secretly a vamp

I'm still hoping the "Serum" the ghouls were taking were actually just drugs they were addicted too and not some kind of feral ghoul cure. If I remember right Lucy just assumes thats what its for and nobody ever really confirms it. And as we all know the drugs in the wasteland certainly have their withdrawal symptoms. I hope thats the case because thats a pretty massive concept that was never in the games. Plenty of pre-war ghouls out there with zero signs of going feral after all this time in the games, without any sort of serum.
I think it's a stimulation thing and it's a case by case thing. So for Cooper, he needs drugs but for Billy (a kid in Fallout 4) he was chilling in a tube for 200 years
also them having 3 main characters they focus heavily on that are all incredibly different in terms of stats and character reminds me of the original fallout games having 3 different preset characters you could choose from that were all distinct builds and had completely different backgrounds

Maximus is the All-Luck-no-Int Char.
Lucy is the Charisma-based Jack of all trades - the basic Char everyone starts with and then struggles with as the Char is basically useless.
The Ghoul is a full Combat-Oriented Char that misses a lot of Stuff and Story due to lack of Support Abilities - no Repairs, no Techknow, no Speechcraft and no Charisma even before the Bombs.

The ghoul def knows tech. He is, at the least, knowledgable about power armor from his time in Alaska. He probably has a bunch of other skills from his military time
I don't see Lucy as having a high Charisma considering how many speech checks she fails in the show. Also charisma isn't useless, it lets you avoid many fights in Fallout and solve missions easily. I always build characters with high Charisma especially in the early game (where it's important to avoid fights when you can). The Ghoul was a pre-war actor, so it makes complete sense for him to have high Charisma (speech).

I’d love for Amazon to make fallout into their version of Star Trek. They could make a ton of shows with different tones and styles but all within the same setting. Like how DS9 and Lower Decks exist within the same time but have completely different tones and themes
No. They screwed up star trek really really bad. They took a good viewing audience and made sure that it got smaller as time went on by not giving the audience what they wanted and pushing political messages. The last thing fallout needs is the star trek treatment where you go looking for a "modern audience" that doesn't exist and instead push most people away. Viewing numbers are way down on trek.

First off, this is amazing and I love your takes. 22:59 I think the reason why they didn’t include energy weapons is because the vfx of that would have taken too many resources. Like yeah, they COULD have done it, but you look at the practical effects the effort they went to just to bring the fantastical things of fallout to main-stream media, I think they were really smart. Power armor was practical because doing that in vfx wouldn’t be worth it, they took the vfx risks with gulper’s adaptation, I think they wanted to spend the budget on the things they knew would get the general audience hooked then hedge the bet on season 2 with and established visual language and bigger budget
i ran a fallout dnd campaign where vault tec was the bad guys years ago because its implied in fallout 3 they either dropped the bombs or the aliens did

Those Vault 4 folks were great and probably the best seed for a civilized society in the region.
Also the predwyn does actually survive in 2 endings. The brother hood ending and the perfect run.
The perfect run keeps the brotherhood the minutemen and the railroad alive. Only nuking the institute. And it has its own unique dialogues which means this was one of the intended outcomes. Knowing Bethesdas track record with cannon endings usually being the best solution for the most amount of factions/people. I’m guessing that’s the cannon one. Cause you get to keep the predwyn, and keep the most story options open to write with later.
Loved your breakdown. Hear me out on a couple of things. 1 since there isn't a set cannon on how to become a ghoul, some from the bomb drop or FO76's nuclear incident, others like Hancock from FO4, or even the Kiddy Kingdom ghouls that Oswald lead who turned slowly after rad storms, that its not just genetics but multiple factors, but some form of FEV or a derivative is involved. For Thadius, he probably took the same drug Hancock did, fixed his wounds, probably because of a small amount of FEV, maybe a micing if whatever the stimpack has. Hope they explain it more, or they might leave it open-ended like most things goul related.
2 the anti-feral meds looked suspiciously like the rad-away that maximus gives lucy. It's been stated several times in games that the brain can die, but the body won't. At least, that's what I understand about it and it makes sense, FEV super mutants that have high radiation levels or damage are dumb as rocks, but a rare few Super Mutants, and the master, were highly intelligent because they too a high doses with little to no radiation damage. But most of the smart Super Mutants have damaged memories from the change. So if a ghoul gets rad exposure and FEV combination, then more radiation exposure over time can degrade or kill the brain, along with the excess rads in their system. This means the cure for them becoming feral is rad away, a pre-war drug that can be manufactured, but once they go feral thats it. The brain is dead even when you take the rads away and the brain can heal, all they have left is instincts.
