  • What else can I uncover in the massive plains biome? And what's the deal with these eggs??
Be mindful that I'd like to experience as much of this fresh as possible. No spoilers please.
    Give tips when:
    - I ask for them.
    - I'm doing something wrong.
    - I could be doing something better.
    DON'T give tips when:
    - They spoil the surprise or joy of discovery.
    - They're about things I haven't seen, unlocked, or otherwise shouldn't know about yet.
    - Finding out the hard way seems like more fun ;)

That was hilarious the chick went upstairs. 🤣 They do have a tendency to jump into fires given the opportunity!

Good job tackling your first tar pits! There are tricks for making it quicker and easier, but it very much helps if you have a slope to dig into. What I usually do is pick a cardinal direction side of the pit, get far enough away that digging straight down won't hit tar, then go down until I reach the water table. Then I dig a straight trench from there to the tar pit. Doing this in a cardinal direction helps keep the trench straight.
It can be a pain at times, but that stuff is black gold for making pretty shingled roofs and decorative darkwood building parts.

Cheers! That’s a good tip for next time. Now I need to remember to bring the pickaxe 😆
That tired thatch roofing could do with an update…

Yeah, the Plains boss can be hard to find. There are almost no marker stones that tell you where he is. Usually you just spot his summon spot while sailing (you'll know it when you see it).

I’m guessing it’ll be prominent so I suppose it’s all down to exploration now.

Easy way to get feathers. Raid some tombs in Black Forest. There is always some in the chests there.

Yeah, I had forgot about those. Other opportunities also present themselves 😉

Guess I was lucky, the first tar pit I came across was on a slope,
so I dug a trench into the side of it
and watched it run off downhill, slowly,
which makes sense as it is quite a viscous liquid.
Good luck finding the Vegvisir of the Plains boss,
in my current game it took a fair amount of searching,
and I knew what I was looking for.
But you've had fortune finding things so far,
so hopefully that luck will continue.

I have a nasty feeling I’ll be searching a while for that boss spawn.

Tar Pits: Agree with your assessment. I had no idea about the tar pits after a few playthroughs and found about it online. There is no "elevated" water in the game and all the water is at sea level with the land rising above it. I guess its one of those things that the devs just hoped you experimented with and discovered. However it does flow out and behaves like a viscous liquid should, finding the lowest point, albeit ....slowly. So your canal/drain has to be lower than the lowest point in the pit. Pits on slopes and hills are therefore the easiest to drain.

Dig dig dig is what I’m hearin’. The mechanism makes sense, I just wish there were more of a tell. But at least I can empty them now.

@@Blondefire_HeyBlondie Dig Dig is correct. Doesn't take long. And yeah really no tell. 🤷‍♂️

Feathers: Never had a problem here. Just roll up and down the meadows shore at night or in a rainstorm. They land and stay on the ground. It even says this in the loading screens. I wonder what else you can farm that might yield feathers? 🤔
