A little tip regarding the boat wrecks...use the sledge on it. No digging required.

Everything in the aoe gets destroyed and is on the surface.

No specific player-related seagull or crow behavior; there is some behavior related to time of day and weather but there is also, a game defect or consequence maybe that has to do with localized boundaries that determines spawning and mob movement, awareness and such. Since birds easily travel over these boundaries without the player activating an adjoining area, perhaps for quite some time, the birds can get "stuck" over the boundary. If you've not seen birds landing for days and days and then come back from a field trip on foot or by boat and all of a sudden there are birds everywhere, you released them again passing through.
I've seen up to 8 birds flying static in the sky just beyond about 200 meters, and then as I entered the same area as they were in, they resumed normal flight and they were landing all over the place.
I think that also explains why I’m seeing fish hovering in the distance who suddenly drop into the ocean as I approach. I’m assuming it’s a similar thing for fish?

Dude, you picked up an egg while you were wondering about cocks. To the best of my knowledge there are no cocks ( or rather no models for the cock hen in the game). I hope you'll craft a set of fenris armor soon! That gear is amazing for speed exploring and foot travel in general. Might come in handy someday soon.

Btw... Do you prefer to play with camera shake on? I've found it gives most people a headache, surprised you have it enabled this whole time. If you do chose to turn it off its in the settings.
I’m using mostly default video settings. No-one has complained about it and it doesn’t bother me, otherwise I’d have likely disabled it. I barely notice it tbh.
