I absolutely adore FF9. I definitely think there are some obvious flaws. You spoke about the quality-of-life improvements in the remaster that helped the gameplay. I noticed the ATB issues in FF9 more so than the others, I felt the ATB gauge was just considerably slower than FF7 or 8. I definitely think if this rumoured remaster is real, I think they need to develop Amarant more as a character. It would be kind of nice if Blank returned to the playable party once you get the boat too.
I considered the possibility of Amarant being cut from the party in the remake in favor of Beatrix, but I thought that'd be a step too far change-wise and that it'd be better to just develop him more (plus Beatrix should stay as a brief power trip character). I do think it'd be cool if Blank rejoins the party later on so he can play a hand in snapping Zidane out of it during the "you're not alone" sequence.
If I had to choose one FF game to be my favourite, it would be 9. But I also think it has some of the most obvious flaws in the entire series, combat being my number 1 complaint. It might be my least favourite iteration of the ATB system in the entire series. And I am not a huge fan of classic ATB to begin with either (FF10-2 being the exception). I think they'll largely be very faithful with the remake, so I am expecting ATB to return, but I'll take it as a win if they at least fix those 9 specific kinks like how slow it all feels even compared to 7 and 8. Great video.
@@CobraCodex honestly i haven't watched the vid yet. Just commented based on the title alone. I'll watch it tomorrow. It's story and presentation are unmatched in ff.
Just finished this game for the 1st time a few days ago, was nice to hear your thoughts on it! Gotta agree with pretty much everything tbh. Love it :D
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!

Great video.
I'm hoping we see something of the remake soon, if I had to guess it'll be the next FF after VII Rebirth. Thanks for watching!
Blasphemy.
It's definitely a masterpiece.
It's easily my favorite FF story if that's any consolation
