It was a rough time in pro wrestling, but watching Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels develop in that era makes it one of my favorites to revisit every now and then. Without them, it would have been so much worse.
Great point. I really miss that about wrestling -- you could see a guy climb the ranks, from tag team to IC level to world champ. It seems like nowdays it's just... "Hey here's this big dude we want you to cheer, now he's champion, deal with it."

It's interesting because that aspect of "forced pushes" created the friction for guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan to rebel against, making for good drama that blended some reality into the storyline. Now whenever I tune into wrestling it seems like such a mixed bag. There's so much content I can't find a place in it for myself. Different times.
this was good. had wrestlefest and superstar at the beach arcade in ocean city Maryland, and locally respectively. I also played wrestlrmania locally. good memories. good times. I miss wrestling pre 1996
the crazy part is my dad has the real arcade machine of wrestlefest and I love that fucking machine and macho Man would have been epic if he was in and also WrestleMania the arcade game was the mortal Kombat of wrestling
Wrestlefest is one of the best wrestling games ever. Not Fire Pro good for its time, but darn close, in a my WWF way. Highly recommended people find a way to try it, nothing like beating the Road Warriors with Hogan and Warrior, true wrestling gold.
Did anyone else notice that WWF Superstars looks like it's reusing some animation from Double Dragon? They were both made by Technos, right? Or am I just seeing things?
I think you could add "despite the lack of randy savage" to any sentence. Like "hey dude this is a pretty cool party...despite the lack of randy savage."
RetroR0bbie Watch his matches in New Japan. He does a lot of different moves he never did in the U.S. He had to do more than a leg drop and big boot, over there.

WWF Wrestlefest did get an official sequel called RetroMania Wrestling, released for consoles and PC, and it's the same Wrestlefest although without the WWE license (but Hawk and Animal from Wrestlefest did appear on it though.) WWE Wrestlefest was almost going to have a home port however its based on the mobile game, so it was cancelled.

The Abore sprite from double dragon 2 is a redesign of the Andre sprite from Superstars.
