Here's a glass-cleaning tip from my mom: if you're cleaning both sides of the glass, finish by wiping one side one direction and the other side the other direction; i.e., wipe the outside side to side and the inside up and down (or vice versa--doesn't matter). Then, when you're finished, you can tell which side is streaked. Side-to-side streaks will need to be touched up on the outside, and up-and-down streaks will need to be touched up on the inside. Thanks, Mom.
Did mine tonight with vinegar and newspaper, followed by blue shop towels and elbow grease to remove any residue. Worked great. My mom taught me to clean glass with vinegar and newspapers when i was a kid- old school trick.
This is one of the more brilliant and useful UA-cam videos related to auto detailing that I have watched in a LONG time! Scott, keep the videos coming, I enjoy watching your videos and find them extremely informative and useful. I am just a weekend enthusiast when it comes to auto detailing and I am always looking for better ways to detail my vehicles. I do like to keep my vehicles as close to perfect as I can but unfortunately I don't have the time sometimes to keep them as clean as I want to. I have learned a LOT of tips and tricks from you that are so useful and make so much sense. I love your honesty and frankness as well and your ability to bring this useful information to the "common man" out here in the real world. This video is one of my favorites so far! I never thought of using a magic eraser on a window, especially the interior, but this will definitely be part of my normal routine for sure now. I haven't been able to get my interior windows to be as clear as I want so this should surely help. The Meguiars Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax is a good idea as well. I have some Opti-Seal from Optimum Polymer Technologies. Do you think that would work as well as Meguiars X-Press Spray Wax on the interior windows after a thorough cleaning, or do you think the Meguiars Synthetic X-press is a better option? I was just trying to avoid buying yet another product that I didn't need but with so many different uses for the Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax, i'll probably get a gallon anyway.
Husband is a cigar smoker. After years of using reg Windex or "Invisible Glass" (needing too many applications) to clean inside windshield, Windex now makes new product called "Windex Multisurface with Vinegar". Oh my. Where have you been all my life? Works like a dream. Spray on paper towel first to remove first layer, then on microfiber cloth using circular . motion. (At Target, Walmart, supermarkets ... $3.00-4.00) . Really does the job. Crystal clear.
If Howard Stern ever moved to Texas you could be his voice double! Really enjoy all your videos. They have helped me save my vehicle's exterior and interior from the heat and humidity here in Florida!
Scott, in the video you mentioned we expel stuff that sticks to the interior glass, one thing we expel is moisture, some of us have been camping and woke up to condensation on the inside of our tent, we expel about a quart of water while we sleep, imagine what accumulates on the window day in day out, if you're a family multiply that, using Meg's X-press Spray Wax with its hydrophobic properties is genius.
Hi Scott, I am a biggest fan of you from UK. I am watching every video of yours possible. What I found You are so bloody genuine, and do the at most best for your customers, even though they don't know how much time you have spent and what you have REALLY DONE. can't blame them. average knowledge customers about Detailing !!!!!!
Scott been watching these videos recently and I gotta say, you’ve taught me more on your channel than some of other guys. Don’t get me wrong, the other guys are great but you add a certain detail of information that I’m just not hearing in the other guys channels. I’m learning how to detail from everyone but I learn how to detail AND receive great pro tips from your channel. Thank you for your insight.
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Your birthdate day fits you to a T!! You crack me up every video and I have watched a good amount! I send them to my Mom and call you my UA-cam friend. I talk to her about your videos as if we are neighbors. Ie. "OMG Mom Scott just showed me an awesome tip...." She thinks you are so funny too. I find your video's of car detailing tips and tricks very informative and absolutely entertaining! Please please keep them coming.
Great tutorial! I noticed that the felt liners on my car windows were all green. So I used a toothbrush w/ APC and steamer to clean them...because if THEY are dirty, it won't matter how clean I get my windows
Kevin Eaton what towels you use for that product? I have it also and I’m using those microfiber towels from Costco and I still get streaks and the towels are new 😪🤷🏻♂️
I have started using the same cleaners I use for the top of the glass top stove. I have used it on my house windows and mirrow's and it works great. I have not tried it on the car yet but I bet the spray would work great.
A superb result does not need all the cleaning before waxing the windows. For years I've put the wax on, let it haze, then wipe it off. The wax will both act as a cleaner and remove ALL dirt etc, AND wax the surface, and leave a perfect result. Try it before answering this comment :) Great channel! Great job!
Scott, Great channel and videos. You have definitely provided some great knowledge and tips. I would love to see a video on how to clean windows that have tinted film. I'm sure you have come across vehicles with window film. Please show some tips on cleaning and polishing them without ruining the film.
I had a heck of a time on a detail yesterday Scott. Extremely disgusting interior on a truck, I got some overspray from my meguiar's APC/super degreaser on the window and forgot it, clay, wax, glass cleaner couldnt get the crap out of it, looked like tiny little frekles on the window. Glass cleaner 20x over it, wax, and clay, over and over. Glass is a heck of a fight on a detail to get it looking right, it's always an adventure.. much love for all the videos man.
Sprayway glass cleaner is magic for me. I've never had anything work for me before, it's completely clear and clean, never streaks at all. I like the idea of adding the wax after though. I'm going to try that.
Ahh..you taught me something again, my new favorite channel. I used to smoke in my old car but decided not to in my new one. I always thought it was only fumes coming from plastics and vinyls etc. Having said that, i lost 3 out of 4 window mechanisms in my old car, so my new rule of thumb is to use this method and crack that window down a bit. Thanks and belated Happy Birthday. Love the channel, i'm learning a lot and thanks for taking the time.
Never considered how much build up there would be on the inside glass of a car, great tip. I have used a Clay Bar for glass but it was always been on the outside glass. Time to start applying it on the inside I guess, cheers!
Just watched. happy belated birthday sir. hope you were able to enjoy your day. you are a great help and enjoy your videos. keep them coming. God bless you and your loved ones.
Thank you for another excellent video. It inspired me to try degreasing my windows with Lysol wipes I keep in the car before using spray ways aerosol glass cleaner and microfiber clothes. The results are great.
So straight forward.. enjoy all your videos... Best window cleaner SPRAY I've used is CLINDO,,,Mr. Clean Eraser is awesome tool... thx for these tips and trix! ( even years later)
Hey Scott I have almost watched every single one of your videos! ( no joke) but no wonder I trust you so much we are both April fool babies! Makes since now!
I just did this to all of my interior glass... Only I used that eraser with Greased Lightning degreaser. *EVERYTHING INCLUDING NICOTINE CAME INSTANTLY OFF THE GLASS!!!* Windex glass cleaner w/microfiber next. Then RainX to seal the glass. *WOW!!!! Can I see vividly at night now... JUST WOW!!!* Never gonna use anything else!!!💜😃💜
Happy belated birthday!!!!!!! I have been using Aero 303 on my interior and it cut down on the gases released off of all the plastic surfaces. Went almost 5 months without cleaning my windshield on the inside. Without the 303 you. Would see the haze in 3 months. Also, I have been using Wash Wax All on my windows, inside and out. I use a 50/50 distilled water alcohol mix to clean the glass and then give it a shot of wash wax all.
Been using the eraser for years. It does work great and don't need any chems for it to work. Like he said it is an abrasive pad. Flexible soft to the touch sandpaper and he put that on tint??? Um I don't think so. I clean my windows once a wk not once a month, there shouldn't be that kind of build up on your glass.
I thought about Howard Stern as well. Next time I see Howard Stern I'll say "Hey, it's Scott from Dallas Paint Correction sportin' a wig!!". Good info on the windows Scott! My twin boys have a giant mirror in their bathroom that I couldn't seen to remove all of the streaks from ... I'm going after it now!!!
What a great video. I really like the Synthetic wax applied to the inside of the glass. When i detailed for a living I always did the outside with a polish or synthetic for longevity. I never though about the inside. Also the magic eraser is a really good idea. That is a really good tip. I look forward to all of the videos. I subscribed because you know what you are talking about and care about your work. There are way too many hacks in detailing and it is refreshing to be able to view your videos. Thank you and Happy Birthday !!!
as always Chris, your comments make me smile and i can't thank you enough for following my silly channel..lol..i do enjoy and have passion for what i do but the relationships i create or come to me are so important and thank you for your kind words...im happy this video helped you out, i know your retired from detailing but glad to have you along for the ride!
i did this by accident not long ago. I wiped my customers windows with vinyl/plastic trim dressing and WOW! i instantly noticed a difference. it even hid the water spots on the exterior glass. I did research and found the active ingredient dimethicone A.K.A silicone oil is the chemical responsible. any spray wax or "hydrophobic" dressing will work for this. it also works well for reducing water spots when washing a dark vehicle in the sun.
Hey Scott, Like other subscribers, I have been binge watching detailers like yourself, mainly Chris Fix, Wilson Auto Detailing. I have learned so much about detailing and different techniques. I wanted to ask your thoughts on how long after applying a sealant to paint do you need to let it cure before applying a carnuba wax for longevity? Thank you for all the great vids and keep up the awesome work.
Charles detail N...thank you so much and much love back for your support and watching my silly videos, i hope they are helpful...im grateful for you watching!
I appreciate your videos you talk about stuff that we that detail for a living use and buy that is not on the consumer market . But.....You also teach good methods for stuff that can be bought at auto zone Wal-Mart orileys . And that is good for professional Detailers and Diyers Even professional Detailers run out of there product off the truck or the product they order on line. They can grab a product from a local store and get them out of a bind.
Suddenly , I feel my OCD may finally have a useful value...Obsessive Car Detailing !! and now that I know how to do it right, I can put it to use. Only problem is, I can now see how dirty the windows in my house are...I'm gonna be busy! Thanks Scott ! (I think)
Try my trick and see what you think, take 2 micro fibers wet one and ring it out so it’s just damp, wipe the wet rag in whatever pattern you prefer and then use the 2nd dry micro fiber to dry the window. 100% streak free. I detail at an Acura dealership and I’m the only person there that can get windows perfect lol. The streaks are actually caused when you use only 1 rag and it cannot absorb all of the dirt and just smears it around. I also clean chrome trim/wheels the same way
Thanks for all your tips. As a weekender detailer (my own vehicles) I've been coating my interior glass with Chemical Guys Jet Seal for years. I also been clay baring the glass but I like your tip with the magic eraser. Thanks again and happy belated birthday.
Glass can drive me crazy and I will definitely try this!! Question- can you use the magic eraser on after market tinted windows??? 6 years late but hey- who knew😂
I've used a steam cleaner with the squeegee attachment it worked well except around the edges, then I used the spray tip and rag . The steam cuts through the smudge stuff pretty good ,thanks for the tips.
Brother ur the the best thank u . I have a car wash service in front of my house. O wash a lot of cars . In my neighborhood. Awesome information thank you brother
My car has been in bodyshop for exterior repairs. They have stuck labels and rubber suckered wo windscreen interior. I have tried a couple of products yet when screen mists up the marks come back, any detailers any advise what products to use remove the marks? I'm in uk
Is there any specific way to clean the gap/seal when the glass is fully retracted (rolled down)? After all the cleaning and I roll the window down, dirt from the gap smears the clean glass with smudges and dust. Thanks! Love your videos.
Great video and great contact like always you do a magnificent job. But!!! How about showing us how to clean the interior of a windshield and back glass. God bless and have a great day.😎🙏🇺🇸
Good afternoon sir I’ve been watching your videos for about a month now and absolutely love what you do! It’s very nice that you give away this information for free. I’ve learned a ton from you! My question is I hear you talking about paint prep a lot, is that just a mixture of alcohol and distilled water?
thank you mad wax!..im getting older but i feel great and looking forward to another day..i think..lol..thanks for the birthday wishes and i agree, d156 is amazing!
like the video, especially getting glass clean because i have serious visual problems, as far as waxing or polishing glass, we did all that and more with race cars back in the 70s when they used real cars and most built their own. after cleaning and polishing and waxing your car, oh forgot im talking about nascar back in earlier times, anyway we polished and/or waxed all the glass, at tracks like daytona little tricks helped and different teams had their own little secrets, or thought it was secret. before qualifying you jacked the car up and pulled the disc brake pads off the rotor, then the crew pushed the car out on the track, keeps drag to a minium, we always had a big box/container of baby powder, so before the driver took off from his pit we shook baby powder all over the car, most teams did that in the old days, and polished the glass, did it help, have no way of knowing, it helped us though because we thought it helped.
I used a magic eraser on my car today and I have to say that is the best tip ever ever God I hate cleaning inside of my windshield and my rear window I can’t get in there at all but I use the magic eraser it was so clean and it’s easy to do thank you for the tip
Use water & white vinegar in a 50/50 mix with a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle.. A great degreaser and cleaner. Magic eraser may scratch tint because it is abrasive.
great information, keep it coming. I'm using this stuff to improve my driving experience. As I get older I am more critical of "things" in my field of view; you are helping ME improve my field of view!
thanks for the vid scott. do you think you could make a video on how to remove hard old water stains that wont come off with kaboom, bar keepers friend etc.? ive seen videos where it worked for some people but others like me it didnt work for us that have old water stained glass.
What if you're also applying anti-fog to the inside of the windshield? Would that go on instead of the wax or if with, do I apply it before or after the spray wax? I'm struggling on that point.
Hi Scott two fold question first can you use magic eraser on tinted windows and the second one is there a health hazard in using X-press wax inside the car especially in very hot weather conditions
Hi Scott...enjoy your videos and I feel like I'm getting the straight goods from you. Can you recommend a safe way of cleaning, protecting and perhaps even correcting microscopic defects on interior windows that have tint film installed? I wouldn't chance using a magic eraser in this case as it is an abrasive I think. Any hints? Thanks.
your video on using the clay bar on the window. could that be used after the magic erased and before the cleaner? and is there a special cleaner to look for to use on the inside for tinted glass
5 years later, still helping people like me keep my car clean before dates. Thanks boss ;)
Where have you gone? Literally, the world of auto detailing is a sadder place without you Scott.
Mother knows best!
Moms are smart that way lol😁
Brilliant.
Miss Havisham and how old are you?
@@kimijonghighball9626 Why? Common sense is ageless.

did you remember to roll down each window panel to get all the edges ?
I use mcquires spray wax aswell for the outside after a basic wash. To remove water spots that may be left behind. Super useful. And gives a pop.

Love to hear your tips on cleaning glass with aftermarket tint. Thanks!
I use Sprayway glass cleaner. It's like a foam and when you wipe it off I've never had streaks or anything. I love it. It's all I use and it's cheap
Best type of window cleaner PERIOD. I put an old bath towel on my dash and spray away.
Spray away is the end all be all
Randy Tellez you never had streaks either?
Kevin Eaton what towels you use for that product? I have it also and I’m using those microfiber towels from Costco and I still get streaks and the towels are new 😪🤷🏻♂️

I like your user name. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that remembers Peter Puck.
From what I have heard you are not supposed to use clay on the inside glass.

That's EXACTLY his voice. You nailed it!

How’s the magic eraser on tinted windows
Thanks
That is a great jesting I was wondering to.

I have to tell you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND MANY MORE! I ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO
Keshia Mills thank you so much!
That's very sweet of you:)
Thanks for all your tips. As a weekender detailer (my own vehicles) I've been coating my interior glass with Chemical Guys Jet Seal for years. I also been clay baring the glass but I like your tip with the magic eraser. Thanks again and happy belated birthday.
Would you recommend this process for aftermarket tinted windows?
Paul Trotter - No. The magic eraser will scratch the window film.
First time caller, Long time listener, I appreciate all your advice.Have you experienced any issues using this particular method on tinted windows?
Happy birthday Scott, and keep the videos coming, really, really, really informative!!
wow thank you John Jackson!..i worked from 7am till 7pm on my birthday..lol..thank you for your support!
Just curious... When you say a clean microfiber towel, is it the same one for all 3 steps? Or 3 different ones? Lol just wondering how you do it
Brother ur the the best thank u . I have a car wash service in front of my house. O wash a lot of cars . In my neighborhood. Awesome information thank you brother

God bless and have a great day.😎🙏🇺🇸
Very helpful. I was wondering why my Stoners rapidly showed itself ineffective.
I use the xpress wax on my home windows as well, really a great product I use it on my granite as well.
Appreciate your passion Scott!
Can you guys still find D156? It looks like it’s only available in the gallon now, D15601...
Good afternoon sir I’ve been watching your videos for about a month now and absolutely love what you do! It’s very nice that you give away this information for free. I’ve learned a ton from you! My question is I hear you talking about paint prep a lot, is that just a mixture of alcohol and distilled water?
Love D156! I use it like crazy, on everything...interior, exterior..all except carpet. Stuff fixes everything! Happy birthday!
thank you mad wax!..im getting older but i feel great and looking forward to another day..i think..lol..thanks for the birthday wishes and i agree, d156 is amazing!
like the video, especially getting glass clean because i have serious visual problems, as far as waxing or polishing glass, we did all that and more with race cars back in the 70s when they used real cars and most built their own. after cleaning and polishing and waxing your car, oh forgot im talking about nascar back in earlier times, anyway we polished and/or waxed all the glass, at tracks like daytona little tricks helped and different teams had their own little secrets, or thought it was secret. before qualifying you jacked the car up and pulled the disc brake pads off the rotor, then the crew pushed the car out on the track, keeps drag to a minium, we always had a big box/container of baby powder, so before the driver took off from his pit we shook baby powder all over the car, most teams did that in the old days, and polished the glass, did it help, have no way of knowing, it helped us though because we thought it helped.
Hey Scott! Do you know if your techniques will work on home windows? I have a sliding glass door that is all scratched up from dogs.
what is wrong with carnuba wax , why would it not work? I also assumed the eraser would damaged the interior tint.
Can I use a rotary polisher on the out side and the in side of the window with a medium yellow pad without messing up the tint? Does anyone know?
Happy belated birthday I just subscribed to your channel, thanks to you I'm an automotive detail junky
Noting this video is now 5 years old, do you still use, and recommend these products and your process, or has anything changed? If so, what? Thanks!
I would not use magic eraser on aftermarket tint but would like to know the best thing to use to clean and seal, if anything.
Scott can you use this process on after market tinted windows?
Hey Scott: thanks for the great tips. How many micro-fib’ towels did you use for that one window ?
You have to use one Towel for each Product It is to avoid cross contamination.
Great video. It is so hard to get the inside of the windshield clean. I’m going with a Magic Eraser and then glass cleaner.
thanks for the vid scott. do you think you could make a video on how to remove hard old water stains that wont come off with kaboom, bar keepers friend etc.? ive seen videos where it worked for some people but others like me it didnt work for us that have old water stained glass.
Thanks,I was looking for something effective to wash my car windows streak free.I will do it today.Happy Birthday late but surely.
What if you're also applying anti-fog to the inside of the windshield? Would that go on instead of the wax or if with, do I apply it before or after the spray wax? I'm struggling on that point.
Do you still use the mcguire's express wax
If used lightly and as you demonstrated, is a magic clean eraser safe for window tint? Thanks.
YOU ARE BORN GENIUS AND HONEST. LOVE YOU
BARA UK
Kemsingnews Barathan ..what a beautiful and kind thing to say..thank you!
Any hints? Thanks.
Can you reuse the same magic eraser pad on the next cleaning? Or do you need to always use a new eraser?
Also can alcohol be used in place of the APC?
Please forgive me if I missed it, but is there a brand of Magic Eraser ? Mr Clean ?
This is great but do you have something that won't take so long and wear your arms out??
your video on using the clay bar on the window. could that be used after the magic erased and before the cleaner? and is there a special cleaner to look for to use on the inside for tinted glass
Why not polish it like you did on the outside window with the yellow ball on the drill?
Great video and Thanks! Happy Birthday my friend!
