This "super horse" was Broad Appeal, graded winner on dirt in Japan. Unfortunately, she died today in Japan September 8th 2021, she was 27 years old. Still go back to this video every so often but today is definitely the day to. Rest in peace to this super horse!

A very impressive "closer". I love horses that come from of the pace. It reminds me of a major upset when a gray Canadian horse won the Traver's Stakes at Saratoga, many years ago. His name was "Runaway Groom", and his progeny are graet closers.
Runawayy Groom out of Blushing Groom, was quite a good horse, winning at 12 furlongs. A gray, he reminds me of Izvestia, another Canadian horse, who won the Canadian TC in 1990. He was not a late closer, stayed near the front, got the run of the race often, but around the far turn accelerated and beat all other horses by huge margins. He did win in America, the Molson Million race beating American horses in a Grade 1 race.

To all the doubters and those who think this video is fake: it is real. The horse's name was Broad Appeal. She was a daughter of Broad Brush, and this was her typical running style. She would run easy at the back of the pack, then accelerate rapidly at the top of the stretch. She was not a distance horse, so she never would have beat Secretariat, but in a one-turn race she won often.
Broad Appeal, a filly, was a sprinter, no more than 7 furlongs. Almost any decent horse would have beaten her at 10 or 12 furlongs. She let other horses tire themselves out, then came on with that burst of speed that she was saving.
near the finish line, it is common for all jockey make the horse change into sprinting mode...but even when all horse is sprinting...that one horse is special...a rare genetic, should be preserved
In 1973 ( correct me if I'm wrong) Secretariat ran in the Belmont, and in that race on that day, NO horse that has ever run would have beaten him ! Since he has died over 2,000,000 horses have been born, and still no horse has beaten his time on that day. It may never be beaten ! R.I.P. Big Red your STILL the Champ!

This a a great accomplishment to come from the rear in the final stretch, and also be unlucky number 13. Secretariat and Ruffian are the best in my opinion, but this horse is pretty amazing too!

That brings up absolute speed vs. relative speed. To be the fawtest EVER is absolute speed, to be the fasted in any particular race, is relative speed. Track records are a dime a dozen. Many horses have them. Records are made to be broken. Absolute speed may make the Quiness Book of Records, but it is relative speed that wins races, the horse who gets his nose across the wire first wins, no matter what the speed.
Hey Guys, they are not speaking spanish but JAPANESE, there are a lot of horse racing in Tokyo and around. As a horse jockey for many years, I can say that this horse love coming from the back, and yes what a speed but not like Secretariat.
My opinion is that Secretariat was the fastest horse, ahead of Ruffian but still a head to head way with Man o' War. Then there was Silky Sullivan who came to first from being 41 lengths behind. Then recently the great mare Zenyatta and the colts Orb, Oxbow, Union Rags, Paynter, etc...
No times posted, and I'm sure the film is sped up, so what I see is another come-from-behind horse (like Silky Sullivan or Zenyatta) winning in the stretch.
is there a record of this race, I'd like to see what race he was in next and have a look at the forum and just see how fast his final quarter was. If this video is genuine and the horse wasn't doped, then I'm really amazed....really really amazed
