Can you imagine what it must feel like to be on him, have the patience and confidence in your horse to hold him back until the very end and then turn him loose and feel him hit another gear and walk down the entire field from 30 lengths back? Gives me goosebumps just trying to imagine it.
Calidoscopio was retired later that after this race due to a relatively minor tendon injury. His race record was 42:11-5-8, with total race earnings just under a million dollars, at $975,154. He stands at stud in Argentina at Haras La Quebrada. An amazing animal.
wow I'm 26 years old man and seeing this almost got me in tears , i had my mounth wide open couldnt beleive what I've just seen , this horse has the biggest heart of all time that was an amazing comeback and that just made my day
Secretariat? That horse is the greatest of all time. This was a great victory for Calidoscopio but to even mention him with the greatest horse of all time is ridiculous. Secretariat ran 40 years before Calidoscopio and his times would still destroy.

“And he DID IT! FROM THE CLOUDS!” is one of my all-time favorite race calls. Not quite “tremendous machine!” by Chic Anderson but it’s definitely up there.
@@iTube22100 Honey, there are horses that LOVEEEE to run. Some horses can't be ridden on trail rides with other horses because all they want to do is run.
Hello, I couldn’t comment on your HAF X video but I have a HAF X that I have had for almost 10-ish years now & love the case. Super cool what you did and I’d love to know more about it. 🍻
Bud Abbott: What I’m asking is .. . is he a mudder? Lou Costello: How can he be a mudder? Ain’t a she always a mudder? Bud Abbott: Certainly not. Sometimes a he makes a better mudder than a she. Bud Abbott: Well, a horse eats his fodder. Lou Costello: He eats his father? Bud Abbott: Certainly. Lou Costello: That’s fine. Then what does his father eat? Bud Abbott: He eats his fodder. Lou Costello: Well, whata ya know! Then what does the horse’s mother eat? Bud Abbott: She eats her fodder. Lou Costello: What are they - cannibals!!?
being a race horse owner, that's what we all wish for, horse with a big heart. that was spectacular and my first time seeing, just scanning race videos online. gryder surprised me, he doesn't always do so well but he stayed away from the mud, set his horse back off the pace and rock & rolled when he needed to. congrats, even though it was years ago.
when the surface is wet , it strongly favours horses on the pace in any country they simply do not come from behind when it is wet on the dirt , on the grass they can but not on the dirt , and....this horse did it , incredible and 10yo too boot , first time i've seen this , stunning win
The early fractions in this race were perfect for a real come from behind effort. 1 1/2 miles in the slop with a .24 for the 1/4 and .48 for the half. They were trucking up front which set it up nicely for Calidoscopio. Thrilling finish for sure.
It was almost SILKY SULLIVAN! The greatest come from behind horse ever. In one incredible showing he was over 40 lengths behind and won on the outside. What made it even more incredible - it was only a six furlongs race. Never seen anything like it. You can find it here on UA-cam. I'll never forget Silky. Ever.
I bet it all at :47. Now I am 47, single, wife and kids in a 3rd world country working as slaves. I'm living back with my mom, no baseball cards or beanie babies to trade.
QUE GRAN FELICIDAD Y EMOCION PARA UN PROPIETARIO, QUE SU ENGREIDO, SU VIEJO CABALLO, GANE DE ESA MANERA TAN SORPRENDENTE, COMO SI FUERA UN POTRILLO. INOLVIDABLE, GRAN CABALLO ARGENTINO!!!
Announcer did his homework. He knew that this horse was capable, having done the same thing just a year prior. So he never ignored the horse completely, and his build up during the home stretch was perfection!
As horses age they lose initial speed gaining stamina, hence the ability to keep steady pace for a lot longer than younger horses that degrade in pace more and more as distance increases.. Calidoscopio is 10y old there so he's got a lot more potential in keeping a flat pace in great distance than Percussion who i figure is no more than 5y old there. (not that this subtracts from Calidoskopio's value - it takes an iron horse to last 7-8y of racing).
In National Hunt racing, 10 is not that old. In January 2018, a 13 year old with a 16 year old jockey won the Welsh Grand National. The other 13 year old in the race was a good second! The race was 3 miles 5 1/2 furlongs... A charm of jump racing is that the horses, mostly geldings, have very long careers, attracting a faithful fan following. The great Red Rum raced from the age of two (on the flat), and later won three Grand Nationals (about 4.5 miles) and was second in two, retiring at 13 and living a celebrity life to the age of 30. He never fell in 100 races, and is credited with saving the Grand National. Calidoscopio is very unusual in that he had a very long track career as an entire, which may not have helped him at stud later.
Fantastic! Brilliant! Unbelievable! This comeback is 2nd to only Secretariat’s mind-blowing performance at the Belmont 1973 when he destroyed Sham and became the greatest of all-time.

I watch this and Susan Boyle on BGT about once a month. Its wild to see that old horse sprinting down the stretch while all the younger horses are slowly fading.
Not only was he 10 years old here, but he's an entire. He went back to stand at stud in Argentina, but not very successfully. Although she has never been that far back, Winx runs a similar pattern, staying back and swooping around the field into the straight, then powering past with a devastating final burst. Pakistan Star is another (when he feels like it).
