1. The gun broke right after that first shot (it's a museum piece, wasn't supposed to be functioning), so u couldn't fire it 5 more times if u want, not to mention how tf u gonna find 5 functioning bullets in a museum.
2. It's a homage to the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, wasn't exactly intended to be a practical scene.

It just goes to emphasize how well verse John Wick was in his knowledge of firearms. He didn't just focus on modern weapons but had a very good understanding and knowledge of many different types of weapons over an extensive long career as an assassin.

It's a bit more than that, for those guns were not all entirely made for live fire, they're replicas that someone pointed out to be sold to the public. John took components from the guns what would allow him to fire a live round hence the nice little nod to The Good The Bad and The Ugly, but with a bit more purpose to it.

A underrated aspect of this scene is how the traditional John wick music evolves into a old western version as he assembles it, to then have the signature chime at the end as hes about to shoot us just pure artistry

He doesn't like any of the shopkeeps REVOLVUHS, so he takes all the pieces he likes and puts one together, that he does like. I know it's a dumb idea, but it's a cool ass scene, and since when have movies ever had to actually make sense
Absolutely love the reference to Tuco assembling a gun in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
It is a reference to tuco but it isn't at the same time. It's a method for checking the timing of the cylinder. It's especially important when you reassemble a revolver like he did. So yes it's a reference to tuco but it's really just a common way for an experienced shooter/ gunsmith to make sure a revolver is going to function properly

For those who don’t know much about firearms, he had to switch out the cylinders and the hammer because it the ones that were in it that only took cap and ball rounds. Those cylinders won’t take a cased round (the bullets we’re all familiar with).

I love how he slows when he reaches the fifth click because if the sixth sounds like the rest then it’s game time and the firearm was properly assembled. You can tell in the scene that John knows he probably did it right but best to be safe, hence the hesitation on the sixth click whilst rotating the chamber.
To me it sounded like the sixth click was a little different than the rest. Almost like it was a quick double click compared to the first 5 that were single clicks. Maybe I am hearing things.

@@chrismccaffrey8256 maybe, I’m not well-versed regarding revolvers, however I do agree on rewatch that the sixth sounded different. I’ve never taken apart and/or reassembled a revolver. Could be that he was just checking the rotation of the barrel, but I’m uncertain. I was just offering a casual explanation to people who didn’t know in the comments. Whenever I reassemble my 9mm, I use the slide to eject an entire mag before I’d try to use it just to ensure I’ve done it right. Given that I tried to translate the same principle to revolvers although I’m inexperienced/unsure.
The last check did sound like a 2 chamber rotation instead of one. Since I’m not well versed in revolvers comparative to semi-auto 9mm, I’m guessing he was just curious if it could make a full rotation since it was the last chamber; hence the double click or double chamber rotation to ensure it could make a full rotation.
This scene was so hilarious when I watched it with some buddies. He spent so long assembling the gun, and only fired one shot and we all burst laughing
@@OddLlamaMan I think the joke is he spent all that time to only shoot one bullet when he's dropping a bunch of people every second in this movie. But I mean that bullet is one less person he has to hand to hand with. Without a gun it's def work for him to deal with a handful of guys so worth the investment of time to get one taken out. But Yea it would be cool if he dropped like 6 guys with it or had a whole sequence where he's running around loading a shot then shooting one at a time.
@@OddLlamaMan for context he doesn't have a gun on him but he does happen to have a bullet, so while being chased by a pursuer, he breaks into some museum like building and kitbashes a bunch of old revolvers to make one capable of firing his bullet at the dude, who has a gun with bullets.

I love the fact that he does this realistically fast. Most times in movies, the hero can build a gun in like 3 seconds. He even misses the first attempt to insert the muzzle.

An even better detail is he doesn’t make a mistake after that first one. He was rushing and made a small error so he slowed himself down and finished it smoothly

Really cool thing about this scene is, not just the cylinder spinning is a reference, the gun itself is. It looks to be a Colt 1860 (?) that has been converted into cartridges. Exactly what Tuco did in The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
Remington frame, Colt barrel and wedge. It wouldn't work.

What I really like about this scene is how you can visually see his shaking of the hands I'm guessing due to the adrenaline at that moment. Now since John is the best of the best notice how he casually slows down and hands become less shakey. Incredible detail. Superb actor.
Remind me of the good and the Bad and the Ugly where Tuco actually takes one of the guns and makes his own that is suitable for him I love how they brought something from the sixties back into a modern-day film.

Future movies would come. But I don't think they'll ruin the great closing they gave to him. Instead, we might get prequels.
@@lazerlight9258 The ending was made somewhat open on purpose to make a chapter 5 as there was supposed to be 5 chapters originally but the director and Keanu just wanted to focus on making Chapter 4,but the success of Chapter 4 will probably have the studio decide to make the 5th and final chapter.
But I hope the ending of Chapter 5 if it is made, has an opposite ending of Chapter 4 where John gets to live out the rest of his days remembering Helen and just gets to live his life, it would be poetic to have the ending of Chapter 5 be the inverse of the ending of Chapter 4.
you know in the movie he did that because he had to make a different bullet fit into that gun so he broke it, put the bullet in, then reassembled the gun. just goes to show how badass john wick 3 is

People say that he just reassembles it but he actually did build the gun using parts from other guns so the pistol could fit a higher caliber bullet. So he did indeed build a new gun
One of the things I love about the John Wick series. He did all of that just to let off a single shot and never used that gun again.
Personally I hated that about this movie. It started sniffing its own farts and this is a perfect example. This huge buildup for such a lacklustre payoff. What a waste of everyone's time. If the gun had come up in the rest of yhe fight scene, of the fact it had been reassembled was relevant in some way, that would make it a worthwhile payoff. As it is he could've just found a working gun with one bullet and the scene would be exactly the same.

I remember watching this scene and laughing to myself think “no way he just crafted himself a gun”
This was actually a really good scene to show John's technical skills with firearms.
He basically made a Franken Gun that actually worked.
Now I'm no gun expert I'm more of a melee guy. But my guess is that what John did is damn near impossible if not extremely high level. Especially considering the parts are old. And he's in a gun museum. So he's working with old models.
Nah those parts are all from the same model. Plus given he’s using the load meant for the gun, no matter the age, it should work fine. Most were built to last. I do agree though, the fact he was able to do it quickly under pressure is cool
