4:44 is when i truly loved the scene, most race scenes in movies in actuality show a gear lever being forcefully put into reverse. Its the tiny little things that make it work from her eyes and slight lean in when asking to tiny little touches like this one simple shift.
One thing I found a little weird was when he was driving slow his foot at 4:37 was all the way down on the accelerator. Other than that the scene like you mentioned was perfect, unlike some movies where a car while racing has atleast 20 gears. 🤣🤣

I once told my coworkers that cars talk.. in the contest that a car will usually tell you if something is wrong and they tought i was crazy.. you get to know how they sound and feel and vibrate under normal and when something is wrong you then get to feel it, a noise that wasnt there or is different now.. something feels diferent, rougher , the gas pedal feeels sandier, the brake pedal vibrates or goes softier than before..

I also get funny looks when explaining to listen when the cutting bit is dull: New cuts ssssssss, dull goes hsssss. Of course they cant hear it first, but in a couple of months they can easily tell. The problem is, we are slowly going away, get few apprentices and young fabricators have no one to teach them.... There is SOOOOO much knowledge NOT in the books. I have a mechanical engineering degree and know how little of real the world is taught in schools.

Make sure you drive in a way your girl feels safe. I drive fast, yet responsible, and my girl isn't scared. Only when weaving through traffic at 200+ but I stopped doing that.
It only worked because in this scene she was curious and wanted to see him drive like that. Niki only started driving like that when she asked him to (he doesn't just randomly drive like that all the time). For me I'm more impressed by how Niki seems to have a very sensible attitude about not taking additional risks when driving regularly
This movie was amazingly good. I didn't expect the absolutely top notch treatment of every aspect of filmmaking. Clearly it was a labor of love for everyone involved. It really gets across the passion some people have for auto racing.
Only few would understand and appreciate the true emotions in this scene.. it doesn't matter if one is a Niki lauda or a James Hunt fan, the sheer appreciation of a machine and the adrenaline rush when it's driven to perfection.. loved this movie and this particular scene..
