      LOL

      they were not just actors

Keanu definitely puts the work and doesn't disrespect the true craft of tactical training! Have you all been watching 80's movies or what? Today even James Bond reloads all the time. The only thing about John Wick reloads is that the guns hold the exact number of rounds that the specific gun in question would have in real-life and not somewhat correct number. The thing is that most the time you don't notice slight inaccuracies because you have to count the shots and the scenes are often fast-paced. "Did I fire six shots or only five, in all this excitement I lost count myself".

    • @JBliehall
      @JBliehall 2 роки тому +3

Ha, mostly true, but I still take exception to the way actors (and some LE and military) are trained to do a magazine change.
By a show of hands how many viewing this video have NEVER had a magazine stick in the mag well when you pressed the mag release?....................Hmmmm not one hand up.
Imagine hitting the mag release as your support hand is bringing the fresh mag up and the empty mag doesn't drop free. You now have a classic "hardware store" of equipment you must try to sort out and do it quickly.
What will you have to do to clear the malfunction?
Take the full mag and put it back in your mag carrier? Take the full mag and put it in your belt or pocket? Try to free the "stuck" empty mag with the full mag still in your support hand?
All of the above make for a chaotic time and keep you from getting back into the fight. (READ: Surviving)
Now here’s what you SHOULD DO:
Your support hand is on the gun when you fire the last round.
Quickly rotate the gun and look into the chamber.
No brass visible? Strip the empty mag from the weapon with your support hand and throw it to the ground or put it into your mag bag. (military)
If you see brass clear the malfunction.
THEN take your support hand and grab a full mag from your mag carrier.
Too many times we train with nice clean weapons and nice clean magazines (in the gun and out.)
It's not always the case in real-life. I train the military. They crawl around in the dirt and sand and their weapons and mags get pretty dirty.
It takes no longer to strip the empty mag than to execute what we (derisively) call a "Hollywood High Reload."
It really could save your life in a gun battle.

The people that argue, "that wasn't realistic", most likely:
A: Are training in self-defense / subject control, etc, all the time and not using their training in day to day situation
B: Forgot about pressure under stress
C: Are not the kind of people that have ever experienced complacency in themselves
You can practice any scenario day by day, and perfect it. Reality is, that when under stress, you may revert back to stage one. This is especially true if you are not up to date on training. Whenever I see mistakes in movies it makes it more realistic for me. These are higher-end "assassins", not police. They may have forgotten what they learned 8-10 years ago, and got comfortable with their street cred. John Wick was trained as a kid. They explain that in the 3rd movie. Maybe the other guys weren't? Idk it just adds more realism to me, because people aren't perfect, and adrenaline, on top of bullets flying at you can change the way you react.

Fun fact regarding tactical and shooting in the Wick movies:
John Wick 1. Former Navy SEAL and professional shooter Fred Ruiz
trained Keanu Reeves in shooting and tactics.
Fred was a SEAL for 9 yrs and an Naval Special Warfare Sniper.
John Wick 2. Former Duvdevan ( Israeli counter terrorist unit IDF ) and Mossad Aaron Cohen
did train Reeves in shooting and tactics.
John Wick 3. Former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor Shawn Ryan is one that trained Keanu Reeves in tactics,
Taran Butler a professional shooter of 15 yrs trained him in shooting.

Good video!! Also, another reason why people will look at there weapons when they "run out of bullets" is to ensure that the weapon has not JAMMED/DOUBLE FEED. I was taught in US Army that even though you know how many bullets your weapon carries, you WILL lose count (even on a firing range) and, you are taught what to FEEL for when your weapon runs out of ammo (i.e.: bolt automatically locks into open position and such). By looking into the weapons chamber quickly like John wick does, you are making sure that the weapon has not jammed/double fed a round of ammo.

Nice commentary. Just to add a bit - weapon strike is a good defensive tactic especially if your assailant is unarmed. A barrel strike to the nose will take the fight out of just about anyone. As for looking down at this pistol; he probably expected the slide to lock to the rear after the last round so when it clicked empty his first reaction was to look for a possible malfunction. Seeing the slide forward, it should be automatic to reload, then tap, rack, bang. All of my 22 years was using a 1911 and shooting almost everyday and in that time, I and my fellow soldiers developed a feel for their weapon and could almost instinctively feel "the last round fired", or a malfunction. I've watched all of the John Wick movie as well as numerous videos of Reeves training on the range. He takes things seriously. Can't fault his dedication, style or techniques.

Next evening yelling, screaming. Guy running thru mall waving TWO pistols. He really does not want TWO shooting investigations in two days. So hides till guy runs past, pistol whips him. Guy drops like a stone, guns flying. (One almost was stolen by bystander. Imagine if both had been). Anyway he finds out guns were unloaded. Stolen from sporting goods store in mall. And his pistol is broken. Had to be sent to factory. After a smith got it unloaded.

Liked your technical Tactical revue, it was hard for me to see it as well because of the darkness of the sets. but I've seen the training Keanu went though and it was very intenc, thanks for the tac revue.

Keanu really commits to every movie. Legend says he trained to go in and out of hell for Constantine.

not just that, he also kept counting his shots - notice how he only went dry once, in a club scene.

There's plenty of gun battles that have the star reload. This guy was pointing out that he wasn't out of bullets yet but chose to reload with a full clip anyways. 13 bullets is better than 5.

FuckEbonics Exactly, having time to reload, I would reload too, because he knows there's more people, and he has time to reload.
