I sit here, exhausted after a long day of law school, dreading the pressure and grind of my future...my eyes drier than the can of sardines I'm eating for dinner from hundreds of pages of reading. I often wonder if I have what it takes, but when I watch your videos, Taku, I remind myself that one day, I can be free too. The price for freedom at times just seems so high, but when I see the life you get to live once you've done the hard work, it is much easier to open my eyes the next morning and keep getting up. Thank you for what you do and how you chose to live. It is beyond brave, some may call it insane, but you done it, and to me you're such an inspirational man. Never let someone deny your dreams!
How about trying a little hook set after the strike. Sharpen your hooks even right out off the package. Test the hook point on your thumb nail. It slides across without sticking. Your hook is dull. Sharpen until sticky.
I dunno, last weekend I caught ocean Coho off Depot until my arms hurt...and had a fabulous dinner to follow! Not convinced I have to go to Alaska for that. Though I certainly wouldn't complain about doing so! lol
Taku, As a commercial salmon fisherman, let me give you some advice. SHARPEN YOUR HOOKS! Hooks directly out of the package are never sharp enough. Great video! Fun content!
You have a somewhat of an unorthodox fishing style, cast right handed but reel left handed. But it works for you and it’s all that matters! Great Alaska content, can’t wait to see more.
Love this series !! And A Treat on A Sunday !! Enjoy you and Jocelyn reviling in Alaska, its Beauty and Bounty and with Friends. Nice shot of you casting off the beach into the water with the mountains and fog , a Beautiful landscape. Can't wait for the next one. 💕🎣 🚐 🌟 👍
I remember that crab eggs Benedict you did before! That catch and cook blew my mind! This was nothing short of that. The Alaska series continues to amaze me. Awesome video taku!!
1st street or the state park. Not as plentiful as 30 years ago. I used to bring an ice chest and two bags of ice knowing that I would be bringing King salmon home.
I really enjoy how much you enjoy fishing in Alaska. I hope you come back up again. Something you might want to try is sheefishing in Kotzebue. An experience you will love. Love your food, and will be doing some of these recipes with my son who is a chef.
I love this channel and have watched it for a while now. I hate to be a critic, but you really should have a net if you know you’re going to do a lot of catch and release (on top of that a rubber, non tail-damaging net). It’s the right thing to do for the health of the fisheries and sets a good example for others to follow.
What a gorgeous scene. One good tip, if you are going to fish to release salmon, it's best practice to pinch the barbs & not let the fish knock itself around on the rocks.
Thank you for the extra video!! I hope there are more to come!! Alaska gives such beauty to us. Enjoy that bounty!! Thank you for taking us along with you and your girl.
I have given up saying last cast, it's now the "LAST 100 CASTS!" Boy is it over for you now, The lower 48 fishing will never again give you the FIZZ that Alaska does! Keep living the dream!
How every fisherman goes home: Last cast. One more last cast. Ok for real last cast. One more fish. This one's too small let me get a big one. Two hours later: Ok let's go home.
Dungy crab eggs benedict is a fabulous meal! Something people would pay BIG $$ for at a fancy restaurant and think they were special, even though I've had it sitting in a lawn chair next to a campfire many many times!
What rod is that? Looks like it has some great action. Just finished the day fishing from from shore for salmon down in Seattle but wasn’t as skillful (lucky) as you.
Bought some of their hot sauces after seeing Barnacle foods on your videos. it's darn delicious. Haven't had the kelp pickles yet but can't wait to give em a try.
Not even done with the videos yet and I'm hoping you go back there again sometime. Never been, but content from Alaska is always just incredible. Nice salmon Taku!
I was wondering if you have done a video showing utilizing the heads of the salmon you catch. This would be wonderful to see. I haven’t seen a video yet, showing this. I would really love too see you be the first to show this.
You should have brought a smoker with you lol I'd be trying to take back as much of those salmon as possible. A smoker and and a canning setup, so you can have some good eats even when you get back to sf. Although I'm sure you will be able to do this again, a trip like that would be once in a lifetime for me. Enjoyed the video, glad you two are having a blast! Keep em coming bud! Much love and stay safe!
3:02 this is why I'm going to move back to Mexico because here in southern California it is boring to me tbh. In Baja California is more active and get all source of fishes off the beach/rocks
Wow, looks amazing, catching Salmon after Salmon... Good to see that you and Jocelyn are having fun in Alaska. So happy that you guys managed to make it there 😁😜. Enjoy Alaska guys👍🏻Tight Lines always 🎣🎣🎣🎣
We catch coho, pinks and chinook from the beach where I live in Puget sound. Pinks have been thick this past week! It’s so much fun! If you come back through Washington before the end of September let me know and I’ll give you a spot for coho. Thanks for the awesome vids!
Nice action on the beach Taku. Is it preferred not to beach the fish and allow them to flop flop possibly bruising the meat? It's been awhile since I've shore fished...
Love the beach fishing man, that is what I do a lot of on Vancouver Island Aug-Nov and it is just the best! I can't even imagine how good the fishing would be up there.
Hey Taku!! Where did your friend get her anchovie pattern towel? We have a hot pad with that pattern from Cinque Terre, we'd love to get a bigger version!!
Nice fish! But you make me so nervous when you bring the fish in, plan to keep it, but keep it at the waters edge while you talk etc. Take it up higher away from the water lol I've lost many a fish by taking my time and not getting it away from the waters edge hehe
Gotta get that merch stocked back up. Maybe a hooded fishing shirt too. I’d love to throw some bones your way. You’re my favorite UA-camr in the game. Watching what you can do with what you catch is my favorite part. I watch a lot of catch and cook UA-camrs but none of them are professionally trained. I live in Colorado and I would love to see how you eat on a backcountry camping/fishing trip.
"I let it sink and got one" thats the ticket bank fishing for salmon. Most of them are hugging the bottom of the beaches and rivers they come into. If you're not losing gear here and there your not fishing for them correctly (depending on method)
We catch King salmon from the shores in the Bay Area/delta you should check out The delta and along the sac river when the salmon are running in summer and fall.
Great video as always dude! The question about why fish jump in open water is an interesting one. The main reasons I've read are to escape predators, to oxygenate, to attract mates and to remove parasites. If the salmon are near spawning grounds, it could be like you said that instinct is taking over and telling the fish to develop the muscles they'll need for travelling further upstream, but I think that for certain species of salmon, like sockeye, they do it more commonly to dislodge sea lice.
Glad ur enjoying alaska! Its a great experience everybody should have in their life. Suggestion, if ur gona catch and release u should think about pinching the barb.
I know Alaska is a huge state and your paths probably won't cross each other, however, it would be awesome if Outdoor Chef Life would do a collaboration with Landshark Fishing. East coast vs. West coast slam down. Taku and Joslyn vs. Viktor and Brook.
"Just one more cast, then I gotta go" Okay just one more...
Love it ...a true fishermen !! Can't tell you how many times I've done the same
@@jerrycavallo6103 Me too, meanwhile hours have passed, right?
That's how I fish!!!
Story of my life
Its the same as one more game
Idk why I laughed when Jocelyn tried to knock out the salmon 😂
I think she said “I like bonking them” as she was trying to smash his head 😂
hahaha i was gonna comment the same..it was like an adorable hit for some reason lol
Taku sunday will forever be another day to look forward to.
Life's been rough working in the City lately but this Alaska series has been a Great Escape! Thanks for bringing us with Taku. 🤙
These Alaska videos are awesome!! Fishing right from the shore, can't beat that!
Yes so great
Yeah, I usually said "one last cast" for 20 times before I leave too

Just 10 minutes ago i was wondering where Taku was and checked to see if there was a new episode!
Alaska, obv
Hit the bell for notifications!
Sunday uploads?! What a treat! Hope you two are doing great :)
It surprise me as well
Lovely surprise to see post on a Sunday evening 💗 good going Taku & Joselyn
How about trying a little hook set after the strike. Sharpen your hooks even right out off the package. Test the hook point on your thumb nail. It slides across without sticking. Your hook is dull. Sharpen until sticky.
“For reals last cast” should be made into a shirt that says for reels last cast
my man already made his fishing license worth it 10 times over
Nothing compares to coho salmon in Alaska!! 🤘🎣🔥
You guys need to collab with Taku!! a nice catch and cook! specially on a live Wednesday feed :) .
Would buy a few super-chats on that feed for sure!
When is Addicted doing a cola bub video with outdoor chef life?
I dunno, last weekend I caught ocean Coho off Depot until my arms hurt...and had a fabulous dinner to follow!
Not convinced I have to go to Alaska for that. Though I certainly wouldn't complain about doing so! lol
That would be crazy
Alaskan Coho and Sockeye all day 🙌
From shore! Great work Taku 💯
You should find an oyster beach and grill up some fresh oysters! I think I went to one around Vancouver somewhere...
Taku, As a commercial salmon fisherman, let me give you some advice. SHARPEN YOUR HOOKS! Hooks directly out of the package are never sharp enough. Great video! Fun content!

I'm enjoying rewatching these older episodes. Great fishing and cook videos. Hope you two are doing well!
I’m in Benicia doing the same thing wishing it was as easy as it is there in Alaska . Awesome video Taku!

My favorite UA-cam chef/fisherman
Thank you for the extra video!! I hope there are more to come!! Alaska gives such beauty to us. Enjoy that bounty!! Thank you for taking us along with you and your girl.
“For reals last cast” I felt that
Thank you for sharing this incredible video of your Alaska adventures. Stay safe!
I have given up saying last cast, it's now the "LAST 100 CASTS!" Boy is it over for you now, The lower 48 fishing will never again give you the FIZZ that Alaska does!
Keep living the dream!
Looks fun. My coworker went up to Alaska for 10 a couple years ago. He said it was the best trip he ever took.
Always amazing that a record fish in one place could be a throw away in another, those are some awesome salmon
How every fisherman goes home: Last cast. One more last cast. Ok for real last cast. One more fish. This one's too small let me get a big one.
Two hours later: Ok let's go home.
“For reals last cast”. I feel you bro.
Last cast fever!!! Love it… The egg/crab (AK) looked delicious yum…
Awesome bite , I was just in Alaska but I didn’t get to fish. I wish I did some fishing after seeing your awesome time fishing
That beautiful view and the breakfast... Is just WOW!!!
Could feel the tranquility through my screen. Man, I want to get out there one of these days.
Do it! You won't regret it. Alaska is amazing, hard to describe it without going there
T-shirt idea: "One more cast"
I thought same thing. Great idea actually for a brand. Last cast. Love it
Dungy crab eggs benedict is a fabulous meal! Something people would pay BIG $$ for at a fancy restaurant and think they were special, even though I've had it sitting in a lawn chair next to a campfire many many times!

"One more last cast". An hour later, "One more last cast". I get it! Same here!
Great music, Great editing, Great setting, GREAT Video!!
Typical fisherman; one more cast/last cast! Love it!!!
So refreshing to see a post from you on a Sunday!! What a treat!! ❤
Shore fishing salmon in Pulaski NY is right around the corner for us! Then steelhead from Oct-Apr :)
Some say that Taku is still out there saying "This is the last cast, I swear"
😂😂
Now I'm hungry and you had alot of last cast. Lol. The view is always nice and sooo peaceful.
Bought some of their hot sauces after seeing Barnacle foods on your videos. it's darn delicious. Haven't had the kelp pickles yet but can't wait to give em a try.
Amazing videos man, love the adventures
Ah yes, the double yolker. It's a good omen!
Taku on a Sunday? 😱 Yes please!
Try herring on a bobber. Pinks will ignore herring but Cohos can't resist them.
Not even done with the videos yet and I'm hoping you go back there again sometime. Never been, but content from Alaska is always just incredible. Nice salmon Taku!
Thought the whole 14 minutes video gonna be you saying last cast. Haha famous last word.
I was wondering if you have done a video showing utilizing the heads of the salmon you catch. This would be wonderful to see. I haven’t seen a video yet, showing this. I would really love too see you be the first to show this.
Hard to beat casting for salmon ❤️
What lures are you throwing? Did you bring any shallow hard bodies? Inline spinners?
Loving the "ok last cast" t shirt idea!!
🔥🔥we need that long overdue ADX collab for sure 🤙
You should have brought a smoker with you lol I'd be trying to take back as much of those salmon as possible. This spot is like one of those last unlockable level of perfect spot for fishing you see in a game. God dang it's beautiful.
Lmao something tells me you’re used to fishing for bass in southern mud puddles
One more last cast. One more last cast. One more last cast. Only a fisherman understands. 😆
can you do more overviews in your videos of which lures/baits you guys are using while target certain fish?
Last cast, one more last cast…. Foreals last cast🤣
3:02 this is why I'm going to move back to Mexico because here in southern California it is boring to me tbh. In Baja California is more active and get all source of fishes off the beach/rocks

2nd video I've watched, subscribed : )
This is WAYYYY better than going to church today!
At 4:25 taku breaks wind ! 🤣👍🏼
Actually, you can cast from shore for salmon. Benicia & Glen Cove/Crockett.
Love these shore casting vids, Taku!

Living the life, chef. Outdoors in Alaska. 👍👍👍👍
i was wondering why you were scuffling through that kelp, but didn't think about how slippery that little spot is.
😂 😂 That’s how most fishing goes… last cast never last cast
It's great watching you fillet and cook.
Lol. I remember saying last cast for 3 hrs past my intended departure time fishing for Cohos in my local waters.
Yesssss this episode just made my day!
We catch King salmon from the shores in the Bay Area/delta you should check out The delta and along the sac river when the salmon are running in summer and fall.
Speaking of breakfast and salmon; I dare you to make teishoku for a catch and cook.
"For Reals Last Cast" LOL
What the.... its only sunday..
I really hope there another video on tuesday too.
What a beautiful Fk view 😍 my next vacation plan is Alaska.
Alaska is a dream I'll live some day.. great video and amazing looking food!

I thought it was known by all anglers... the reason they jump is because they don't have a middle finger.
Glad ur enjoying alaska! Its a great experience everybody should have in their life. Suggestion, if ur gona catch and release u should think about pinching the barb.

Taco Tuesday 2 days early! Love it!
check that your hooks are sharp man :D every time you snag up on something or what ever :)
