Also important to note: Sugar Alcohols (the insulin-spiking kind) can be hidden under "natural flavors" too, given they are in _small smount per serving size._ Dextrose / Maltodextrin doesn't even have to be listed if it is used as a drying agent in the process of extracting a substance, which is commonly used to manufacturing "natural flavors". If you ever wondered why 9/10 sparking water on the market with just 2 ingredients - "carbonated water and natural flavors" taste just as sweet as a conventional soda...
I had a friend who kept trying to get me to use sugar substitutes. I kept saying "why should I use substitutes when it just keeps my sweet cravings alive, why not get off sugar completely." Because I became a Type 1 Diabetic I realized the importance of NO MORE SUGAR. Me and the SUGAR MONSTER battled for a long time. I won!!!
Congratulations to you!! It's a big monkey on the back of one of my family members, and I can see hiw hard the struggle truly is. Addiction is addiction, no matter the substance.
I bought a stevia plant several years ago. I've nourished it and propagated it into several other plants. I harvest fresh stevia leaves and dry them. Then I crush them up and use just a pinch of the dried leaves in any beverage I want sweetened. I know what is in my stevia.
I found my plant at a big box store. I forget the exact one (Wally or Lowe's or HD??) You can also find seeds and possible starts online at several different seed companies. Good luck. It is now the end of February 2024 and I haven't seen shoots yet. I'm in zone 7b. I should see them about the end of April-ish. Good Luck!@@miamilakespianolessons7833

On a keto diet I lost all cravings for sweet food except for soft fruit. I want savoury now. Mix high-fat cottage cheese with berries and you've got yourself a keto desert.
At first about 6 to 8 months. That's because I had candida and it took that long for the yeast colony to starve in my gut. It was the cause of sugar and alcohol cravings. Whenever I eat carbs these days, the cravings do return, but it only takes a few days of keto for them to dissipate again because there's no yeast colonies that secrete these craving hormones into my brain anymore.
I had the same response. I did keto with an 18-20 hour fast, and 4-6 hour eating window. I’ve lost a total 60lbs so far. Another 20 to go, but that seems to be slow going… But I’m not at strict now, as I was before My sugar intake is almost zero, But I do use raw honey & garlic, about 3/4 teaspoon, once, maybe twice per day. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my results. It’s a lifestyle change! I can see this lasting me the rest of my life. But at almost 69yo, I’m not too concerned!😉
Ladies, just a heads up. Artificial sweetners can, after a period of time ,they can affect bladder control. So if you're having incotinence issues, try giving up your artificial sweetners for a while. See if it doesn't go away.
Thanks so much for this valuable information Dr. Berg! These days I just use a tiny bit of pure Stevia. Yes, it’s expensive to get the pure stuff but it last me a very long time. now that it’s getting colder I make a hot chocolate with coconut milk, organic unsweetened, cacao powder, a tiny bit of pure Stevia and a splash of heavy cream. I don’t really eat the keto desserts anymore. In the beginning I did.
Xylitol’s anti-cariogenic properties (enamel protective effects) alone make it the best alternative sweetener you can consume, especially after every meal and snack. Just make sure you keep it out of reach from your dogs as it is lethal to them. And don’t worry about its effect on the gut microbiome, as it’s actually a prebiotic, and it’s not indiscriminately antibacterial. It selectively inhibits the cavity-causing streptococcus mutans through the metabolism of xylitol-5-phosphate, which is indigestible and detrimental to their survival because they are unable to process it, which starves them, essentially allowing the now alkalinized saliva to do its job and remineralize the teeth without the hindrance of acidity and bad bacteria.
Thank you for covering this. I make my own desserts rather than buying them premade from the store. Lately, I've come across recipes that called for Swerve (Erythritol, prebiotic ogliosaccharides, and natural flavors) or Besti Brown Sugar Replacement (Allulose, monk fruit extract, vegetable glycerin, natural flavors) sweetener, which are both new to me. I didn't know what to think about them but this video has helped me some. I will say that I do not trust "natural flavors." I feel that term is a loophole used to include unacceptable ingredients.
I love that Dr. Berg reviews actual products. I wasn't familiar with certain products like healthy sugar substitutes. My shopping list has changed dramatically (in a good way though) since following Dr. Berg and watching his videos. I really feel like I should be paying him. I will support him by buying his products because he has made a significant difference in improving my health. Thank you, Dr. Berg.
Thanks, Dr.Berg, for this video. I have been on keto for about 1.5 years. My A1C was 6, and now it's 5. I am so happy and so is my doctor. However, I only lost 40 lbs, which is great, but I need to lose more. I am 220 now would love to be 150.
I use pure Stevia extract and then apply it as drops to whatever I need sweetened. It takes about a week to adapt to the difference in taste from sugar, but once you get used to it, you will not miss sugar.
@@tonymcdow7206 it's individual like anything else, but when you do research there's clearly a potential problem since there are many people reporting having gut problem when consuming stevia
Today, after three years of hunting....I FINALLY found 100% monk fruit. I'll post here once I get it in next week and let you know how it tastes. I used to make a liquid sweetener by simmering actual monk fruit in water. It's a real pain.
I found a stevia product that that has no bitter aftertaste. It’s called Better Stevia and sold by Now Foods. It’s very concentrated and not much is needed.
When your gut is heavy on the side of the bad guys (gut disbiosis) the messages sent from your gut bacteria to your brain are mostly screaming for sugary stuff so you like and crave it. However, after you have done IF and other gut-healing things and get the balance back between the good and bad guys, the messages from your gut bacteria say, "Feed me something other than sweets, please," so you stop liking and craving sweets. I learned that from "Plant Paradox," by Gundry and "Gut Feelings" by Cole. Fascinating indeed!
That is one of our problems. Too much of anything is not good for us. Self-control sometimes can be difficult for some of us. The problem is food industry makes food taste so good and makes you want more of it. Learn to discipline yourself and control yourself. It took me a very long time to do that, but after watching and listening to Dr. Berg, I have changed my way of eating and what I eat, and when I eat. Thanks, Dr. Berg!!!!
Same, I've had the hardest time disciplining my cravings and my mind toward carbs and sugar, I prayed to the Lord and He delivered me, now I only think of the bad stuff as poison and He tells me no, I wouldn't have been able to do it at all without the Lord and then the information I have learned through Dr. Berg and Dr. Eckberg, I thank God for you both❤
Lily's is owned by The Hershey Company. I need tests on the products to prove they are completely sugar-free. I have been side eyeing it since I found out this year.
Dr. Berg, really love all you do. I've really studied how some sugars are made. White sugar has a multi phase chemical process, unlike Coconut Sugar. I think saying they are the same are not accurate. Keep in mind (not a popular opinion) I practice metabolic flexibility on Sunday and sometimes weekends. That why I studied high carb sugars. So it may be helpful if you can touch on clarifying on these topics, respectfully. However I can't help but think that you're not going to touch on it, because it's against the philosophies of all the keto type doctors on UA-cam. If anybody reading this does want to try metabolic flexibility on Sunday or weekend, Make sure you try to use all natural sugars if possible or just fruits or honey. I do deviate it from it a little bit (holidays) but some can't tolerate this generally. I learned this from a doctor, fighting cancer using diet only. To pharaphase him: after a couple of months of being low carb, then you can easily do (without cravings) a high carb sunday with natural sugars like fruit (his rule was only natural honeycomb and fresh fruit on Sunday, along with the special keto low-carb diet with certain vegetables, to fight his cancer which went into remission over 8 years). So thanks to all reading this, and I hope you can gain better health/well-being with this information, and of course the knowledge of what we can gain from Dr Eric Berg and the others that do low to no carb and are helping monumentally on UA-cam💜☮️
On keto for 4 mnths now tryin to lose weight i gained from quitting smokin...i cut out all sugar....except for natural sugar that is in berries...ty dr.berg for all the amazing info you give us..ive lost abt 30 lbs now 10 more to go...
Erythritol exacerbated my IBS and I ended up with a horrible gas and bloating issue. I feel better since giving it up. I'm leery about allulose as well. I use pure stevia and Monk fruit in herbal tea without problems.
Thank you Dr Berg. You definitely help keep me on my HEALTHY KETO LIFESTYLE. I am so grateful for everything that you have done to save my life. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.🌅
I noticed one of the sweeteners you said is alright to have on keto. I just want to say the ingredients did state it contains malt extract, and that ingredient does contain gluten. I am hyper aware so had to point it out because gluten not only causes me serious GI distress but it also blocks my thyroid function. Pointing this out for those with a gluten allergy and hypothyroidism
I also get hyper fixated on ingredients now since going through some troubles with hypothyroidism + ibs & i love pancakes but all the pure ones have 24g sugar with 2tbsp. So i tried 1 that had Erythritol & noticed the bloat was much more & took longer to go to bathroom so tough to choose. Same with b12 supplements i need, they all have Mannitol or Xylitol 1st
I’ve been taking 3 or 4 drops of Nascent Iodine every morning for years. No bad side effects here. My blood pressure 3 minutes ago was 113/63 with pulse of 65. I’m almost 66 years old and just drank my morning coffee.
@@BrendaCourtien no that’s excellent BP. 120/80 is the standard but 110/70 is better. 90/60 is considered low. I’ve been up doing stuff at home and just checked it again. It’s 130/79 and pulse is 66
Dr. Berg is medically and humanitarian awesome! For me, if I might want to have something sweetened; it is either Organic Raw Cane sugar or Organic Honey! No Sugar Alcohol or Artificial Sweetners for me! I might try Stevia. Then again; it's better for me to stick with Organic Fruit Sugars from: Blueberries, Apples, Bananas, Blackberries, Pomegranate Fruit, and Tart Cherries! Watching Dr. Berg's videos on the horrible and horrific effects of sugar in the body has really educated me!
I wish I had come across his videos about dangers of sugars. I'm only 32 and suddenly became wheelchair bound ( knee swell up out of the blue and now severely inflamed ) on wheelchair for past 8 months since I ate a little too many snicker bars. Sugar = inflammation - not worth ending up disabled
@ElectricBlanket1122 Praying to God to that you will be blessed with miracle medical blessing of healing! If it is possible; regarding the knee; get Organic Glucosamine Chondroitin MSN, Cod Liver Oil/Shark Oil! Rebuilds cartilage! Black Seed Oil for Inflammation and Immune system improvement! Dr. Berg's videos have educated me and helped me so much to improve my overall health & wellness! Real talk! True story!
What do you think of the study done on Erythritol, in that it can cause blood clots leading to heart attacks and strokes? I use Erythritol with my oil pulling only and I only consume a little Xylitol sometimes with my morning coffee (also in chewing gum throughout the day).
Allulose is the only one i use since, to me, it's closest to sugar taste without any blood sugar impact. Hopefully it's not found one day to be harmful. Monk fruit tastes like aspartame to me. I'd really like to see you do a video on store bought keto bread. I've tried two brands (one from Costco and the other from Publix). Both taste the same (not really good). Both claim 1g carb net per slice. However, both have similar impacts on my blood sugar- one slice causing my CGM to go from 100 to 180! False advertising? Loophole in labeling laws? I pitched both into the trash - if i get a spike like that out of 1g carb bread, i might as well eat the real deal.
Allulose is also my go to. Only one that doesn't make me bloated. But of course the non keto world is securing allulose of being cancer causing. I, like you, also hope nothing bad comes up about it in studies to come.

It's crazy cause ive been switching to the better alternative sugar my whole life and at some point some new study comes out saying it causes cancer or some other horrible thing. Im on an allulose kick and monk fruit right now but waiting for the news to drop on them . Ty Dr Berg your freaking amazing 🎉🎉🎉
But what about the studies that show erytrol and xylitol caise platelets stickiness and lead to blood clotting - heart attacks and strokes? Sugar spikes are not the only health criteria/
Depends how much you have of erythritol. I think a person needs 14 tablespoons or more a day for clots. You can always buy monkfruit without erythritol too.
I use xylitol gum, have tried Stevia on and off, and would try monk fruit. Mainly use honey, agave syrup, and maple syrup as sweeteners, and only have sugar in the house if I'm baking. Enough sugar added to food already, and I want to reduce the processed foods I eat as much as possible.
I am a black or white sort of guy, it is either good or bad, I just cannot handle things that might be o.k. so I stay away from all this stuff, big fan of Dr Berg
Stevia caused me to feel lightheaded dizzy and gave me intense headaches and sharp shooting pains. Took me a while to realize that is what was causing the issues. If you start getting weird symptoms “out of nowhere” always think about if you tried anything new recently
Dr. Berg, been following you and a subscriber. I learned from you not to trust “natural flavors” yet one of these products list that & you didn’t pause. Can you explain more about natural flavors?
Stevia is all natural. Grow it, dry the leaves, mash it into powder, put in jar and use. No additives. DON'T USE "ARTIFICIAL" SWEETENERS, at all.... live...peace out
You really brushed past Allulose without any recommendation or concerns. Allulose IS sugar, but it's a different molecule that your body only absorbs about 1/10. It's naturally occurring in plants. I buy organic or non-gmo (it's often from corn.) PS: I wouldn't habitually use _any_ of these sweeteners. I use a tiny amount of monkfruit extract or stevia in hibiscus tea, and a drop or two in some recipes. Otherwise, I don't generally sweeten my beverages, and I try to avoid desserts. Once in a blue moon, I make ribs, and allulose is good for that because it caramelizes like table sugar.
The best is to make it yourself .... I have milted down 100% chocolate , 4 bars , 8 squares each , bar of grass feed butter and 2 table spoons of stevia .... if you have no sugar you will think it is sweet enough . Place in the fridge..... add grass feed milk if you want
I use a combination of erythritol and xylitol in my coffee. One of the items Dr. Berg liked had natural flavors. I recently heard that “natural flavors” is a red flag as they can put in any number of toxic substances, and also addictive substances and label it natural flavors without disclosing the ingredients. I try to stay away from most processed foods for this reason and many others.
Many of the artificial sweeteners mess my stomach; especially xylitol, erythitol, and monk fruit sweeteners which actually contains xylitol . Any idea why it impacts people with existing stomach issues
I'm so glad I came across this video. I had to stay home from work today because of all this artificial sugar I have been taking and not realizing how harmful they are. I want to thank you for all the information you shared on this video.
What about the "NATURAL FLAVORS" in the sukra gold you mentioned was okay? Maybe you should share a video about "NATURAL FLAVORS" on labels. After researching what they can be used in place of mentioning what its really being used in place of.
I have become so knowledgeable with my nutrition facts and how they react thanks to your information. Friends and family look at me annoyed but My health matters to me. Thanks Eric!
Erythritol has been linked to health issues I've read. I am trying to only use organic stevia and very sparingly coconut sugar, like when baking. I think we all (including myself) need to tame our sweets cravings. Eat fruit!
There is a big advertising campaign from Splenda, showing their Stevia farms and promoting Stevia sweetener. When you read the label on the Stevia package the first, majority, ingredient is Erythritol.
Hello there, appreciate you sharing this here. Here is a video that has information you might find interesting. Check it out! 👉 ua-cam.com/video/-iSy1nDxovo/v-deo.html
I usually don’t read anything because I go for single ingredient avoiding one of the over 20 corn derived sugars and the over 185 corn ingredients. Corn is really a problem of the sugar, gluten and cellulose in food which humans can’t always digest
erythritol is coming in research as causing blood clotting at so many grams per day. Don't recall what the exact grams were (maybe 50?) but I'd definitely use it minimally. I mix it with monk fruit extract to lightly sweeten some teas and microwave flan. I wouldn't use large volumes of it, like trying to make candy.
I like stevia, although I will do erythritol. Erythritol will tear my gut up in large amounts so I have to be careful. Stevia is also a bit of a dieretic so you will pee more. Keto has removed most of my sweet tooth, but in coffee or a dessert is where I use them.
You tube can sensor you but through watching your videos over the last year i lost just over 2 stone in weight, I fell a very healthy 10st, i have never felt better and i am 58, my sugar intake was very high with treats galore, i have now got rid of that hanging belly fat, my sugar intake is probably about 90% down on last year. Thanks for the videos Dr Berg, they cannot silence actual evidence from one of your on line patients.
I wish you went over some of these alternative sugars’ side effects. For example Stevia leaf has been used for centuries as a natural contraceptive, not to mention some peer reviewed studies have corroborated that theory.
Isn’t it amusing how UA-cam sensors your videos Dr. Berg, but they also target these videos and play the most hideous commercials, advertising for killer diabetes drugs. Bless you. I just ordered a bunch of supplements from you thank you
I stopped using Lily chocolate after I found out the level of Lead and cadmium in their cocoa ! One of the 2 is off scale! Please investigate it Dr. Berg and others!
No am sorry I rather have no sugar at all than have those alternative sugars... I have discovered that they give me joint pain and I heard it from friends too.‼
Dr Berg, I just read this on a Google search and I have a heart issue (and an ICD) so it peaked my attention (I have HCM). Your thoughts please? "What is the downside of stevia? Stevia may also: Affect the healthy bacteria in your stomach, causing gas and bloating. Raise heart attack and stroke risks, because it's often mixed with erythritol, which has been found to increase these risks.19 Oct 2023"
I read a recent study where many brands of dark chocolate were tested for lead……Lily’s brand chocolate had high levels of lead…you should be able to find the results of the study online.
My nostrils have completely opened at the 23:25 minute mark of fasting, one has always been closed for 35 years, since breaking nose. I noticed around 22 hrs I was finding breathing easier and fresher. Fasting now for nearly 24 hours, a day or so I did a 34 hour fast. I did notice it but it went over my head. Trying to do 30 today if possible. The biggest result came around 23:25 hr mark. I began noticing I found it easier to breath. The left nostril is completely open. I broke my nose when I was 10 and had it fixed, but always assumed that the nostril and breathing through mouth was my only choice most of the time. Both nostrils are working now and that is despite my neighbour using the tumble drier with softener that usually makes me bunged up in the nose. This is the biggest result to date in health as I thought that was structural. Turns out it might be diet related and the broken nose before was psychologically stopping me seeing the truth. Need advice on this.
Thank you Doctor ❤️~Unfortunately, when dealing with SIBO, you can NOT have artificial sweetener. It feeds only the "overgrowth" and makes things worse. (The exception is aspartame, which has it's own issues, lol)
If it is feeding bad bacteria then it is being digested. Erythritol is absorbed into the bloodstream then excreted into the urine. It is never changed from when you ingested it. So it’s feeding nothing.
So grateful for all this info. I got my IR down to 5.1 in 2 months, because of backing off sugar and carbs seriously. Am using the safe tasty sweeteners now. I intend to continue to be very mindful and well informed about contents in many foods. Thks Doc Berg!!! Ahna. Atlanta Ga.
A lot of fitness/health influencers always neglect maltodextrin. They talk about red40 and the others and yea I get that but imo maltodextrin is one of the worst things to consume and they're in nearly every conventional snack. It's crazy how the highest glycemic index ingredient, maltodextrin, isn't sweet.
So bummed! I just bought 4 boxes of 365 organic stevia from Whole Foods. I just double checked the box and the first ingredient is maltodextrin! I wondered why I wasn’t losing and I had started craving sugar again!! It taste so good in my coffee! So disappointed. Thanks Dr Berg, for opening my eyes.🥹
I want you to mention to potential pet owners that. Xylitol - The Artificial Sweetener That's Poisonous For Dogs Without urgent intervention, this can cause seizures in dogs, liver failure and even death. I avoid it because i have dogs and i occasionally give them the same food i eat, i had a friend who found this out the hard way we watched her dog pass away because of this artificial sweetener, so just be aware fellow pet owners.
Anything that ends in 'tol' is terrible for your digestive system and are among the biggest irritants to people with IBS. As someone that has been dealing with very serious IBS for years, stick to stevia or real sugar, imo.
I agree. I have SIBO and can't have ANY of the fake stuff. I know this video is for the Keto lifestyle who don't have issues, but I mentioned it in the comments, too. Just in case LOL ~(Dr Mark Pimentel says just eat a little regular sugar or 100% maple syrup if you gotta have sweets, but that is not the keto way) IBS is a whole other lifestyle!
Yeah, was using the Monk Fruit in the Raw (has Erythritol) and my roommate and I ended up with severe stomach issues. He actually went to emergency room and only realized it was this product once he stopped.
I learned from Lily's chocolate that I was intolerant of inulin. Now I have Equal Exchange Organic Total Eclipse Dark Chocolate, 92% cacao which is 💯 A-OK. What is Inulin? Inulin is a soluble plant fiber. The inulin used in LILY'S Sweets is derived from chicory root.
Please review Choc Zero products.🙏 This company is becoming increasingly popular with bakers. They have a wide variety of baking chips and candies. They use Monkfruit and non gmo resistant dextrin. I have not found a "substitute" for sugar as good as this companies's.
Yes please do!!!!!! I love Choc Zero and have replaced a lot of products in my house with it, kids love the freeze dried marshmallows. Would make me feel so much better knowing I am doing the right thing!
Maltitol is actually not that bad. It's still a much better option than actual sugar. Maltitol itself only has GI of 30, Maltitol syrup however has a glycemic index of 55-60, and even than it still only has 50% the net carbs of regular sugar.. Maltitol syrup is used mostly for candy, cookies etc... while maltitol is what is used in sugar free chocolate.
Thank you for the new products information! I noticed I crave sweets when I am physically tired! I try to drink either hot or cold water to combat my cravings!
I'm very cautious on any label that says "natural flavors", cause that literally could be anything. Ppl look at the word "natural" & assume that it's healthy.
I use RAW STEVIA. Yes its a herb and YES it's green and YES you can use it in baking. It's just the dried plant ground down. 1/8 tsp equals 1 tsp sugar. Saves having g to read labels and hell ya can grow your own.
Thank you Dr. Berg for the breakdown of “alternative sugars” personally I suggest to read the ingredients on the package of food or snack that they are interested in plus use any sweetener in moderation😊
I switched to Xylitol sugar for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and vacation desserts instead of regular sugar. I ended up with a horrible case of GOUT (uric acid crystals deposited in the toe joints causing horrendous pain). Xylitol increases the chances of gout 800% according to the National Institutes of Health. Little bits of Xylitol may be fine, but using cups full in sweet recipes was a DISASTER for me.
OMG!! So i'm sorry to hear this happened to you, but thank you for sharing! I have a family member who is diabetic and is also mentally challenged, and getting him to limit his amounts is very difficult. I'm researching on here to figure out if there are desserts we can make for thanksgiving and christmas that he can eat that will not spike his blood sugar. The struggle is REAL!! Sugar addiction is a demon, and I pray for ANYONE who's dealing with it.
@@teresadiservio761 :Erythritol alcohol sugar and stevia appear to be safe. Good going on getting your family member to make changes. The mental challenge makes it even harder to affect change when the person just can't comprehend why something that tastes so good could be bad for him.
I noticed how most of these sweeteners in the store are mixed with that maltodextrin. I prefer Monk Fruit Organic with no additives. Second would be Stevia, only because of taste. The other sweeteners tend to not agree with me one way or another; headache, digestion problems, etc. But because of you Dr Berg, I saw the Maltodextrin on my original Monk Fruit in the Raw, just about the time I was wondering why I wasn’t losing any weight when I ate a homemade Cranberry Bliss Bar or a slice of cheesecake. Once I got rid of that ingredient I started losing again. Thank you Dr Berg. I am 31lbs down and four pounds to go. :) Oh! If you want a brown sugar substitute, use your sweetener of choice and just add a little Molasses. You dont have to spend an arm and leg for sugar free brown sugar. 😊 Good job to everyone here on their journey. Every day is a new beginning to start fresh. May you all find your answers you need, you will find most of them here with Dr Berg. 😊
Thank you Dr Berg, Sweet & Low has dextrose not on the label. Xylitol is Birch I am allergic to it. I prefer pure Monk Fruit for my great grandson’s treats, (Kiltz’s Ice Cream) with Erythritol or with Allulose for me and the amino acid Glycine so far.
Dr. Berg what do you think about the resent published paper about erythriol and formation of blood clots in both animal and human studies. Pretty convincing article and many experts are in agreement . I have quitted taking it.
"....powerful diarrhea" - cracked me up! Very happy to follow Dr. Berg for all his health advice. I lost 60lbs when i jumped on Keto and kept it off for past 6 years. For those with stubborn insulin resistance, just know that even the *taste* of something sweet will spike insulin. Insulin is the premier fat storage hormone and thus will prevent weight loss.

@@Trazynnlove that for you ❤️
I just think to myself, “yes sweets taste good, but is there any actual nutrients?” 🤔
I had the same response.
I did keto with an 18-20 hour fast,
and 4-6 hour eating window.
I’ve lost a total 60lbs so far.
Another 20 to go, but that seems to be slow going…
But I’m not at strict now, as I was before
My sugar intake is almost zero,
But I do use raw honey & garlic, about 3/4 teaspoon, once, maybe twice per day.
Yes I totally agree. Raw honey is a good replacement and has immune system building properties. 🙌💦🌱
Aspartame and caffeine?
@@etvpx I used to drink bia which has Stevia and erythritol . I also have trouble with sucralose.
Wow!!!!!!
You mean natural ones like stevia or artificial ones like sucralose?
Thanks so much for this valuable information Dr. Berg! These days I just use a tiny bit of pure Stevia. Yes, it’s expensive to get the pure stuff but it last me a very long time. now that it’s getting colder I make a hot chocolate with coconut milk, organic unsweetened, cacao powder, a tiny bit of pure Stevia and a splash of heavy cream. I don’t really eat the keto desserts anymore. In the beginning I did.
Could you please mention the pure stevia brand?
Yes please, brand? And where do you find it?
It's antibacterial too though, so make sure you dont destroy your gut biome too much
Is that the one from birch trees?
I think that was one I used before
I have a dog and don’t allow that in the house.
@@wildedibles819 Birch sugar is my preferred form of xylitol, but it is often derived from corn and imported from China.
I have SIBO (microbiome dysfunction/IBS) -- all artificial sweeteners are a NO. They feed the overgrowth and make things worse!
I do love Besti, Maya Kampf WHOLESOMEYUM. Her products are pricey but they are good. 😋
Add exercise, start walking one block a day. That will help, especially when you build up distance. Good Luck, that’s what did it for me.

Thanks, Dr. Berg!!!!

Self discipline is a lot easier when one has enough nutrients.

I prefer Allulose, but after 18 months on Keto, IF, OMAD, I have so little sweet tooth I use only about 2 tablespoons a month.
What do you think of the study done on Erythritol, in that it can cause blood clots leading to heart attacks and strokes? I use Erythritol with my oil pulling only and I only consume a little Xylitol sometimes with my morning coffee (also in chewing gum throughout the day).
If you’re drinking a glass of erythritol everyday. I’d suggest you stop. Otherwise if a few drops I wouldn’t worry.
still better to avoid completely…
Try nattokinase ...or eat natto..however
Its doesn't taste that good for some
Fof blood clots
The only keto Dr who agreed with that study was Dr. Berry. Everybody else discredited it
Allulose is the only one i use since, to me, it's closest to sugar taste without any blood sugar impact.
@Helenegardenergr8 info thx 4 sharing gonna look the recipes up.
Allulose is also my go to. Only one that doesn't make me bloated. But of course the non keto world is securing allulose of being cancer causing. I, like you, also hope nothing bad comes up about it in studies to come.
There is a new product called unbelievablebuns I bought the flour and I think I’m getting a glucose monitor so we’ll see 😊

You can buy Stevita directly from the company in Arlington Tx. Just Stevita and erithritol or just pure stevita only.
Stevia is all natural. Grow it, dry the leaves, mash it into powder, put in jar and use. No additives. DON'T USE "ARTIFICIAL" SWEETENERS, at all.... live...peace out
I did that one year - grew my own and made a tincture. It was OK, but I like the organic 365 brand drops better so I lazied out, LOL.
Stevia causes diarrea and bloating in some people, upsetting the microbiome
You really brushed past Allulose without any recommendation or concerns.
Allulose IS sugar, but it's a different molecule that your body only absorbs about 1/10. It's naturally occurring in plants. I buy organic or non-gmo (it's often from corn.)
PS: I wouldn't habitually use _any_ of these sweeteners.
Natural flavors are in everything, even organic! What the heck is it?

I usually don’t read anything because I go for single ingredient avoiding one of the over 20 corn derived sugars and the over 185 corn ingredients. Corn is really a problem of the sugar, gluten and cellulose in food which humans can’t always digest
erythritol is coming in research as causing blood clotting at so many grams per day. Don't recall what the exact grams were (maybe 50?) but I'd definitely use it minimally. I mix it with monk fruit extract to lightly sweeten some teas and microwave flan. I wouldn't use large volumes of it, like trying to make candy.
I believe the research is fake.
I read 64 grams which is 14 tablespoons. I can barely pass 6 a day lol
I like stevia, although I will do erythritol. Erythritol will tear my gut up in large amounts so I have to be careful. Stevia is also a bit of a dieretic so you will pee more.

Aspartame is 100 percent safe as long as you don't have PKU

Oh! If you want a brown sugar substitute, use your sweetener of choice and just add a little Molasses. You dont have to spend an arm and leg for sugar free brown sugar. 😊
Good job to everyone here on their journey.
@@pishimadarwhat were the amounts fed to the test subjects?
"....powerful diarrhea" - cracked me up!
Very happy to follow Dr. Berg for all his health advice. I lost 60lbs when i jumped on Keto and kept it off for past 6 years. I must add, i lost it within 5 months! Once i lost my weight i maintained my lifestyle by simply keeping a ketogenic diet, OMAD (sometimes eat twice a day within a 5 hr window) and of course, keep up with ever video Dr. Berg posts.
That was funny!😄 😄😄
If you had to pick the healthiest one .. which one?
Xylitol
Glycine
I prefer coconut sugar.. date sugar.. and monk fruit
For those with stubborn insulin resistance, just know that even the *taste* of something sweet will spike insulin. Insulin is the premier fat storage hormone and thus will prevent weight loss.
Indeed, it's called The Cephalic Phase Response.
Even if your in a calorie deficit ??
@@johnray5665 Yes, the effect is not influenced by any other factor.
@@SpamMouse so I could drink diet soda all day while fasting and exercising and I wouldn't burn fat ????? That makes no sense. What calories are being burned if Im not eating carbs ????
@@johnray5665 With respect John you need to study the whole process. If you exercise yes you will "burn" calories, however if you are consuming a diet-soda that does trigger The Cephalic Phase Response your body will be producing/releasing Insulin and be fat storing when you do eat food. The body is a complex machine.
Hi sir,
You are really great, i have no words for u. Your greatness can't be explained through words❤❤
