Good morning from Southern California! I am also a retired teacher and enjoy traveling and living abroad. I have always enjoyed doing the daily life things like grocery shopping when I travel. It is so interesting to see the different products and customs. Your adventures living in France are so enjoyable to watch.
Thank you
Good morning from sunny Ireland! A great place to find pre loved budget friendly clothes in France is your local Emmaus. They have everything, from furniture to books to clothes, shoes etc etc. Eco conscious and thrifty. Gros bisous, Leiza xxxx
Enjoyed this video! I like seeing regular day to day activities that people do in other countries. Keep them coming. Merci beaucoup Janice!
You are welcome !
Always great to see you live your best live in France! About the supermarkets in France, I read that some Carrefours have a BlaBla Caisse (chat & register) where it's ok to talk with the cashier for a long time. If they have one at yours in Fointainebleau, it's a good place to talk a bit with a local to practice your French. Enjoy your dream life!
Good idea! Thank you!
Thank you for taking us along. I think you are doing a fabulous job!
Love sharing your everyday adventures.
Janice, you're just so delightful. I find myself liking your videos before even finishing seeing them.😄
Bonjour Janice! Thank you so much for showing a little bit of French life and habits. Loved to see the trees behind you, make me remember my birth village in this time of the year. Au revoir! Have a wonderful weeK!!!! 💙💛
Thank you so much. There will be more to come. My next video Will be about my apartment
Janice I just want to congratulate you on the growth and development of your channel.
You are just living your life and allowing us to experience France vicariously through you but I thought I would salute you and your channel too.
Thank you for your kindness!
Nothing quite like shopping in a different country. Loved this video x
I love being on this adventure with you Janice!

Oh my! I found your channel just now. I love everything French and have been to Paris over 10 times. I would love to move there, but I still work. I am 61 years old. I look forward to watching your videos. Hugs from Sacramento, CA.
Are used to live in Bakersfield many many moons ago
Hi Janice, I loved your grocery store vlog in France so much! It was so much fun to watch and interesting to see all the French items. I am new to your channel and really enjoy your slower and casual way. Thanks so much! 🧡
Thank you! If you have time would you mind subscribing please thank you. Thank you for your kind words Barbara
I am so jealous. I hope I will move back to France one day. In the meantime I live vicariously through you🥰🙏🏼

@@inka87871of Paris or France?
you and your channel are truly delightful. your wonderful shopping hauls remind me of my cherished time in France. i loved the fresh produce and the care that the purveyors put into everything they sold me. France is one of the most enchanting places on earth and I'm so happy for you that this worked out. Enjoy every moment of it :)
Thank you
Good evening to you! Loved going shopping with you. Hope you are well.
Merci hon.....it is so refreshing to have people encourage to shop minimal. I think we waste too much food with our large shopping.
Yes
Love your videos and sense of adventure!
What a lovely outing!! Thank you for inviting us!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰
You are very welcome
Janice, it was so nice to spend the morning with you! Your apartment is a perfect little home. I love your enthusiasm and friendly manner. Thanks for taking g us along on your French adventures!
You are very welcome Karen and thank you for following me
Just love your positive attitude!
Thank you
Google maps will let you download maps (of quite large areas) so that you can still use them when there's no cell service or something weird is going on. I'd recommend you do that so you know your route in advance.
I do now this was a very old video
Fabulous channel and videos
This was delightful!
Thank you pixie
It was fun to go on this little trip with you. Thank you.
This was so much fun! I am impressed with the size of the grocery store, I thought it would be much smaller. Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for your kind words Linda
Fish at market is fabulous
Thanks for taking us grocery shopping with you. It would be great if you could scan the shelves a little slower so we can see the labels and prices better, and show some of the products/brands/flavors that are unique to France.
I agree Linda about slowing down as I was getting a little dizzy but love love love the experience. 👍🤪🤣
Btw we just did a new video at the store and it is much slower!
So good Janice to see Avon and Fontainebleau (with my favorite farmers market) that I left 1year ago to move to Colorado 🇺🇲💛🇨🇵
Awwww
Oh Janice, I would love to visit with you!
Awwww that’s sweet
Great channel. Any daily bits you share we love.
Thank you very much
Enjoyed your video!! 💖💖
Love love your channel.
You are absolutely lovely! I really like your channel! Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome snappy
Thanks Janice!
Love your videos. I hit the like button before I even even watch them. I thought I saw a tail. How are the pets
Great!
don't put away your warm clothes I arrive on Wed along with a cold snap! I love grocery stores
You are already good at this!
Hello from Michigan! Im glad to see you doing so well!
Thank you Deb
Hi Janice, I just found your channel recently. I love your "down-to-earthiness". I've planned trips to France three times and have yet to set foot in France! I am hoping I will get there in the next couple of years. I am not into all the touristy things and really am enjoying the daily life that you are sharing. More, please!!
Thank you, but I used the hop on hop off bus yesterday and I saw as like a kid in the candy store! I know they are tourist but they are also familiar! I hope you make it France!
@@JaniceInFrance I hope so!! Best to you.
I’ve always avoided the hop on & off bus, but when I was in Bordeaux I used it as I was tired & foot sore. It was a great way to get my bearings in a new city. Also if you want to improve your french listen to the commentary in french ( tip-the children’s version is great as it’s simpler & doesn’t get weighed down in too many details).😊
It really is a global village - so many of those grocery brands are in our New Zealand supermarkets. We too prefer to eat fresh and seasonal.
Hi Janice! I don't know if you have a Monoprix there, Casino, or Intermarche stores, but greàt selections of food and essential items. Plus, the outdoor markets are incredible. There is also Marks and Spencer in Paris, British store that carries all sorts of food and clothes. Think crumpets, scones and tea. Plus an incredible array of international foods. I have been shopping food and books in Paris for nearly 15 years. Let's go shopping when I get there!
Yes I have two monoprix’s! They are a little pricey but Yes they usually have everything I need also they have things I don’t need but I still buy lol
Ok
Hi Janice… I love your channel….🌸
Thank you so much. Thank you for supporting me
Ohhhh welcome to France. Have you visited any of the outdoor markets in your village. One of my regrets while living in Paris was not visiting the market day in FB. I always felt I get a better deal with veggies sold at outdoor markets, one thing I love about France where I visit every Monday.
Yes I’ve been to them in fact several of my videos show me at the market. I never saw that I really got a better value there than I did at the groceries because it’s just one person
Thanks for taking us along, Janice! What camera are you using to film the video? Loved the quality of the footage you shot! Hope you have a great weekend!
My iphone
@@JaniceInFrance wow! Which model? I have an iPhone 8 and I am looking to upgrade. Thanks for the reply!

@@JaniceInFrance thank you so much! I am really enjoying your videos!
@@beachgirltake2 Thank you that is a nice complement
I frugal shop too
Good I wish I started doing this mini mini years ago
Thank you, this was fun.
You will surely freak out at our cost of living down here in South Africa! 🙂 Our currency is in the toilet, so to speak, and almost worthless when exchanged for dollars, pounds or euros! My weeks food cost has now forced me to eat one small meal per day only, so everything I eat has to be nutritionally sound. Having said this, I am grateful for what I can have, and our beautiful gardens that are safe to walk in every day. I have a place to stay, and never go to bed hungry - I see myself as blessed!
Yes you are but it certainly bothers me that you only get to eat one meal a day
thank you Janice. love the blog!!! Abientot
Thank you!
Please ðo not be concerned - my body is thanking me! And my brother in England sends me food hampers from a nearby store...I am blessed!! At 73, I find I need less food....😊❤😊
Ok thank you
Bonjour Janet! Could you tell me the name of the hotel? It looked really nice. Merci!
I don’t know it at the moment because I’m returning to PARIS on a train. Are you talking about the one in Fontainbleau?
Yes
Wow! I just love driving 6 minutes to Wegmans and picking up my groceries curbside. No way I could go back to shopping at 3 different stores for groceries.
Bonjour Janice love your vlogdo you have a INTERMARCHE near your house'...the prices are better than Carfour...i been living in France for 25YEARS and i do my shopping there and also Picard ...for Organic i go to Satoris or bio shops.....enjoy the wether..bisou
No they don’t unfortunately. By my produce at an Organic Place here in FB. Speaking of organic farms I’m going to be going out in interviewing one in April I can’t wait
I went to Picard’s though
@@JaniceInFrance love Picard food.....have a nice afternoon
Just found you and am binge watching all your old vlogs to catch up. Can you tell me the name of the song playing please? I’ve heard it before and it’s driving me nuts trying to find the name. Cheers from an old bird in Australia 🦘🌸
No sorry my editor chooses most of the songs!
Short and sweet. I did get a bit dizzy trying to see the wine prices lol
How much was Uber? Do they tip for uber and for food delivery?
I don’t know I have never had food delivered, but I would at least tip 2 euros.
@@JaniceInFrance thanks! meant also about getting Uber to the store and back.
@@leonab545 I’m sorry I misunderstood you let me start over I really would love to do the Store video a little bit longer but I’m always afraid someone is going to say something to me about videoing. The Uber which is about 10 minutes from my house to the store cost me around 765 which is probably about eight25 and US dollars. I’m sure you don’t have to tip but if you did have to tip or want to tip I mean probably one euro or two euro it isn’t like here in the state 20%. I tip my Uber driver every time at least one euro. I’m sorry I didn’t understand but I like that you took the effort Leona to email me back and say hey you didn’t answer all my questions lol
@@JaniceInFrance thanks so much for getting back to me! You answer is very helpful. Best wishes
Hi Janice. Could not see your frozen purchases.
No, I tried and the manager even gave me permission to video, but the lights reflect off the glass containers so bad they are not worth seeing.
You could film them when you get home.
@@caroledowney6908 I did
Could could show your haul item by item and say what you’ll make with each food.
Oh goodness Phyllis I will do better than that I will tell you right now what I will make with it because I eat very simple. I eat 4 cups of veggies a day 2 cups of spinach with my morning protein drink. I will eat an apple for a snack and for dinner I will eat some type of protein either chicken or fish and a veggie. The peanut butter will not be purchased again because I ate too much of it and it’s too fattening. The little bread I bought with the peanut butter I won’t be buying that again that was just a whim. Most the time I do not eat carbs like bread that was just a once in a lifetime thing. I got it out of my system so now I won’t eat that again. My meals or not all that special it’s just Plano food for me
@@JaniceInFrance thanks for the details! We’ve been eating low carb lately as well. Mostly it’s easy but once in a while a heavy carb calls.
@@phyllishigley6161 yes it does
Your joie de vivre is so inspiring, dear Janice 🙂
Merci beaucoup
Hi Janice, really enjoyed your shopping trip. I live in Canada and while we are a dual language country (French & English) I am an anglophone and do not speak French fluently. What I did notice was that I easily read all the display names of the seafood products in the market probably because our packaging is in both languages. I impressed myself haha. I love your videos, they are not overly long, your timing is perfect. N’est-ce pas?
Thank you
Bonjour Janice. I'm a southern girl living in California, dreaming about France. I work on my French all the time in case I ever get the nerve to jump over the pond. You are an inspiration. We have to take bags to the store here too. My dream is to buy a big old house out in the countryside. I'm not much of a city girl. Keep up the great work. I love your videos!
You can do it 🙂 x
Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE that you live so close to a carousel. I had a life-sized rocking carousel horse that I named Cosette. She was my first investment in art.
I've been a subscriber since you started your channel. You look fabulous. Great french manicure. What's a manicure/pedicure like at Fountainbleu?
I'd love if you included a video with the editor that helps you with these masterpieces.
Thank you
Janice, part of low energy is due to diet, I looked at your shopping, mam, you need to eat , much more .
I know!
Don’t Americans pay for using plastic bags?
I didn’t
Really enjoyed your shopping trip, Nice that you found a route so that you can walk back and forth, I don’t live close to shopping at all, I would love to walk there I could use the excercise lol. Even the grocery stores there look interesting to shop at. Take care and I look forward to your next video, Sheila
Thank you Sheila
If this is France, where is the French music to go along with your video?💃💕🍷💃🌹
Listen to the beginning
You are so adorable!
Linda…. So are you!
Check setting on Google maps. One time I was driving to a location 5 min away. Google had it taking 45 min. Discovered it was set for walking, not driving.
lol
Janice, always pay attention to the price per kilo for fruit and veg. Have you tried shopping in Lidl?
No it’s too far for me
Thanks for the tour! I love French grocery stores. I hope you will be able to go to the summer markets. You will be able to save a lot of money and enjoy fresh local produce and assorted regional goodies!
I also lived in Fonty and loved it. I was in my early 30s and have the fondest memories of those years. Now 50 married and with kids living in CT. We dream of going back in a few years 😊
I hope you can
My fav video of yours.
Hello from North Carolina. I'm new to your channel. I enjoyed your video.
Thank you for joining. I ahope you like it well enough to subscribe.❤️🇫🇷
@@JaniceInFrance Absolutely I did subscribe! 💛
I love your videos! You are inspiring me to try things I’ve dreamt about that I’ve been afraid to do. I’m turning 50 next month and I’m going to start following my dreams! Thank you for the inspiration:)
Happy birthday next month
I really enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing. I would love to visit Europe someday.
I do hope you get the chance to with her it’s France or not Because it is really different and very calming I think
Great video, especially loved your music choices. Keep up the good work.
Well the music goes to my creative editor Hannah. Thank you also for the video support
This was fun! I really liked the Music you used Belle Epoc. I would be so happy in that Wine Isle! Cheers 🥂 🍷
That was Hannah’s creativity!
Merci beaucoup!
I realize this video was a bit more challenging for you to create, thank you for the effort you put into it. It was so much fun watching a slice of your life in France.
Wow! Thank you for being so supportive!
Beautiful)
Bonjour Janice! I’m enjoying your videos so much - I think this is the 7th I’ve viewed so far. May I offer a suggestion? It is difficult viewing your video of products because the camera needs to be held more steady (meaning not changing direction so quickly) and also needs to pan more slowly. It was a bit dizzying, especially when there’s so much curiosity about the products and packaging and names. Respectful suggestion for future videos. 😁 Keep your day-to-day life videos coming! I’d love to see how you manage transportation, like UBER, train, bus, (along with paying for them; Navigo card?) etc. Also museums - (passes, entrance lines - mundane stuff like that is always interesting! Truly!) You are inspiring!!
Thank you and you are not the first one who has said this. I will go back and do a short video just about grocery shopping and products. Thank you for following. I’m always open for suggestions.
Today, I started to watch your videos, and it is fascinating what you did.
How much is your rent
you utilities, your food monthly.
Is it difficult to understand how you can live in France with a budget? At least you need to have some savings o be rich .
Can you tell us how you survived?
I have a free e-book coming out at the end of June. It will answer most of your questions.
I love your shopping cart!
Thank you me too
I live in New York City, I thought paying 32 euro was a good price for what you got, I know I couldnt buy that many items for 32 euro in NYC
Well that’s good to know. That makes me feel better
That was fun for us and quite a lot of carrying for you, but thanks enjoyed seeing the different stops and a chuckle on the Old El Paso products at the grocery, cheers from Tennessee!
Listen going to the grocery stores always almost a drudgery because I never plan on buying as much as I do and then I’ve got a haul it all back lol
Charming video Janice.
Thank you
And merci beaucoup to you:-) I just found your channel and instagram and am very interested in all the details of your move to France since I am hoping to move/retire to Spain where I lived in my 20s and again in my early 30s. And I want to take my little dog with me. Have you done an apartment tour yet? I'd love to see the whole apartment. What a lovely walk through your city to the markets.
If you will go back and look at the very beginning videos it talks all about my move and when I had to do etc. etc.. I even have one dedicated to my animals
I have watched a few of them, but thanks. Do you have an apartment video?
@@karenjohnson6667 yes coming out next Thursday

I have one in the works it’s already been done. All we have to do is put it together and show it.

Don't worry--colder weather is returning. I take my caddy and just put the groceries directly inside [no extra bags necessary]. I'm in Paris right now but returning to Maryland the second week in April. I think you're doing great.
Thank you! You are kind!
Thank you
I too have a grocery trolley I pull. Same style as yours. It's saved my back. I always have it either full of library books or shopping from the grocery market. Plus if go to beach I can pack things and a picnic. Plus I take the bus so fits right at my seat easy.
Janice I just found your channel yesterday and love it. Thanks so much for sharing.
Lovely episode , I love French grocery stores - i.e. Carre Four ❤️
Would love to see more of Fountainbleau the town and videos of activity like this. Are there cafes? Shops to walk to? Thank you!
