Love it when people can hold onto thier cars since highschool. Still have a beaten and worn, and due for some serious tlc 79' mustang I got in the early 90's and drove untill around 2008ish. I finally parked it in the barn for now.
I need to get a garage so i can finish up my square body chevy want to fully re wire it and wire brush the frame and put some undercoat on it. then finish the interior. also looking into just getting a K5 blazer and selling the 1975 k20.
Your givin me ideas... I have a C30 tank, and my neighbor has a 24 valve with low miles rotting into the ground, still runs nice though just the frames about to snap in half. I'd probably wanna change out my 4.56 gears though lol
Personally I would definitely recommend switching to a higher gear I have 3.54 gears in this truck and it does amazing when I had different tires it would run 70mph down the highway in 5th gear no problem but it all depends on what transmission you have, a 6 speed wouldn’t be too bad with 4.56 gears
Sorry I just seen this comment! I’m using the factory tank out that came out of the same year square body I just bought it for a 6.2 diesel, that being said I’m pretty sure it’s the same tank as the regular gas tank they put in gas engines. I used rubber fuel lines all the way up to the factory lift pump on the side of the block, high pressure fuel line on the sending side and just regular low pressure fuel line on the return.
Perfect timing with this video! I bought a 1984 K20 last month and am planning on doing a Cummins engine swap from a 1992 donor truck. I heard that you had good clearance between the firewall, but did you have to modify the trans tunnel, or did the Agan fabworks mount provide plenty of space for that as well? I look forward to more videos!
No I did not have to modify the firewall or the trans tunnel to fit my set up I’m also using a get rag 360, I can’t speak for the nv4500 or an auto transmission but I don’t think you would have to modify it either way. Happy I could help!
I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile but wasn’t sure how difficult or pricey it would be, definitely seems like it would be worth the time and money to do
2 more questions for you if you don't mind What did do for a transmission cross member Where did you run the exhaust??? There is very little room on passenger side with that transfer case over there
Awesome build! I'm getting ready for mine and looks like u nailed it! I have trucks and extra parts! Would u know where I could get my gen 1 motor? I'm looking at a 93 dodge dually with 5.9 4/4 and my truck swap is 1986 dually standard cab 4/4 Chevy.
very nice truck i have an 84 c10 that id like to swap myself um if you dont mind me asking what was your budget on this im just trying to get an idea of what i should prepare for
Yes! The KSB and grid heater are both on switched 12v toggles on my dash for cold weather, I personally would recommend putting the ksb on a switch Atleast it helps the truck warm up so much better with less injector haze.
It was about 45-50 degrees out that day and no I did not drive it the previous day, it starts almost instantly even on cold weather this is only a single battery truck too so I’m very impressed with it.
Ya, Cummins are not made for speed, all of the Cummins really don’t go past 4 to 5k in rpm, so it’s more made for torque, not speed, I bet that truck is a towing machine
That thing is badass. I know you worked hard on that. Is your rear pinion angle correct. It looks off in the video. Not trying to knock you down or anything just trying to help
It may be off a bit I just did my best trying to match the angles with an Angle finder but it ran 70mph down the highway fine with 0 vibration but if I get up towards 75-80 there’s a small vibration so it’s somthing I will definitely check out!! Thanks for the input!

Badass truck man, thanks for the video!🤘🏻
Thank you!!
Nice rig! 🙂👍 Love the boggers on the truck. Happy to see a fellow Missourian making UA-cam videos. I'd like to see more on the truck man. Stay safe 🔧

Lv the truck lv seeing them looking old and without them rims and small mud tires everbody has these days
I definitely wanted an old school look!
@@k30cummins70 we it looks good

Working on a similar project right now. Very helpful and bad ass truck, thanks man!!
That's badass! I am planning on doing this with my gmc. I'd love to see more videos of the truck driving and such.

Sweet truck, that going to turn out to be a badass truck

I’m about to put the same motor/trans setup in my 86 k20.
I would like to know about your fuel system setup. Did you use the factory dual tanks? What modifications had to be made?
Agreed, different pump? Lines? What?

Also how many miles was on your 5.9 when you swapped?
very nice truck i have an 84 c10 that id like to swap myself um if you dont mind me asking what was your budget on this im just trying to get an idea of what i should prepare for
Did you use the stock dodge downpipe?
How long did the whole swap take from start to finish?
Does anyone know if the stock GM hydraulic clutch master cylinder is gonna work with the NV4500?
Was there an indent in the floor where you cut the hole?
yes it was close but not exactly on the indent
Was it 2wd or was it already 4wd because i have a 1985 Chevrolet c20 custom deluxe 20 Long bed regular cab 2wd that i want to convert to a 4wd set up.
How tall did the truck end up being after with the 4” lift and 35” tires? . Is it still under 7 feet tall?
How did you do your starter wire and the kill switch? That's sweet
How bad is the engine vibration?
Those mounts are nice but seem to be short on isolating rubber
It’s not bad at all, good polyurethane bushings in the motor mounts.
@@k30cummins70 thank you for the reply
👍👍
I'm having an issue with my KSB. Did you wire to a switched 12 volt and activate it during cold start?
Yes! The KSB and grid heater are both on switched 12v toggles on my dash for cold weather, I personally would recommend putting the ksb on a switch Atleast it helps the truck warm up so much better with less injector haze.
How long did your swap take I’m thinking of doing it on a1987 k20 suburban with the 6.2 diesel
Did u have to cut ur firewall and trans tunnel
I meant to say master Cylinder
What was total price for the hole install?
i think i have about 5000 in it total
Did the Dana 60 come with the manual hubs?
Nick Mellon yes it did
I cant believe how quick that thing fired, what was the outside temp and had you ran it previously that day?
It was about 45-50 degrees out that day and no I did not drive it the previous day, it starts almost instantly even on cold weather this is only a single battery truck too so I’m very impressed with it.
Ran into the same problem With clutch Used Chevy slave cylinder why did you use Dodge slave cylinder
I used the dodge slave and a Ford master because the problem I had was the Chevy wouldn’t move enough fluid so I needed a bigger bore
@@k30cummins70 my question is will a dodge master cylinder work I've got the dodge slave and Chevy master it works but not well.
Thanks
Can you send the info on the regulator please
Did you straight pipe it or run a muffler?
Wayne Adams 4 inch straight pipe
3:54 gears? What’s the top speed?
What was the name of the guy who made the motor mounts Ryan what
Ryan agan fab
Did you use factory springs? Add a leaf?
It’s a rough country 4 inch lift for this truck no add a leaf or anything lift spring in the front and a block in the rear
@@k30cummins70 thank you for the reply.
After you Cummins swapped Chevy is it pretty fast
It’s a bone stock 12 valve not much faster than a old 350 but I didn’t build it for speed
Ya, Cummins are not made for speed, all of the Cummins really don’t go past 4 to 5k in rpm, so it’s more made for torque, not speed, I bet that truck is a towing machine
