    The Ball and Chain Soldier technically made a 3D appearance in Twilight Princess' Snowpeak Ruins as the mini-boss who Link get's the Ball and Chain from.

    Couple of quick corrections, there were dragonfly enemies in zelda before this game, specifically in majora's mask (though they were called dragonflies in that game, while the ones in this game are called needleflies). Also, baby gohmas appeared in Ocarina of Time, though i believe they were referred to as larva by the translators.

    The more I learn about the history of zelda enemies, the more I love them. This video also made me appreciate Cadence of Hyrule a lot more, as I recognized Wolfos, Moa, and Baby Gohma (technically called a gohmaraccas larva, but it’s clearly meant to be th’ same kind of enemy) from that game, not knowing that they’re pretty uncommon.

    "Crawltula and Strandtula"
    I'd argue neither of them are really "new", they're just new names to clarify what they do. Crawltulas are really just Skullwalltulas. Strandtulas are small Skulltulas. Both of them are clearly small Skulltulas based on their designs, they just do one thing each, so they split Skulltula into two separate enemies.

    Platbooms aren't entirely new; they were originally called Spiked Twhomps and they're flatter in EoW. They appeared in side-scrolling areas in the fourth and fifth Link's Awakening dungeons, and in one dungeon each in the Oracle games.

    • @OtakuUnitedStudio
      @OtakuUnitedStudio 12 днів тому

      They are based on Thwomps but they aren't Thwomps.. they're new. Yes, they act identically, but they have a new design and most importantly can be killed without anything special needed. They're organic, while Thwomps are entirely rock.

    The consistent enemies is one of the reasons I love the Zelda series ao much. It just makes the world feel cohesive despite time & stylistic choices separating the titles. I just beat the Eldin temple tonight & at the boss I was like "hey, that red serpentine dragon looks a lot like Volvagia.. Oh. It literally IS Volvagia." EoW has been great about returning to form & feeling connected to the other games unlike BotW & TotK.

    Koholint Island wasn't in Link's dream. From my understanding, it was a tangible place in the Zelda world but was a dream created by the Wind Fish. Its safe to say that sailors probably visited the island and accidentally brought it over to Hyrule, or seagulls that ate the seeds of the Goponga flower dropped them in Hyrule.
    For those who are familiar with Final Fantasy X, think of Koholint Island like Zanarkand

    • @Mari_Izu
      @Mari_Izu Місяць тому +1

      It was Wind Fish's dream, Link got there because he fell unconscious, it wasn't a tangible place.

    • @JaidynReiman
      @JaidynReiman Місяць тому

      @@Mari_Izu It was a tangible place, but it was also the Wind Fish's Dream. Just because the Wind Fish dreamed up the island it doesn't mean it wasn't a real tangible place. If it wasn't a real tangible place, Link could not have arrived there. Its common in mythology for real tangible locations to be created by "dreams" of Gods, sometimes even the entire world.
      For example, look to Final Fantasy X. Aeons are real tangible things, but they're created "by dreams" and are "summoned" into the world.
      In the case of Link's Awakening, once a person arrived at the island you couldn't leave until the Wind Fish woke. Once the wind fish woke, the island and everything on it ceased to exist, but it was still a REAL and TANGIBLE location. However, because everything created by the Wind Fish eased to exist when he awoke, the idea that Goponga Flowers could be transported off the island is literally impossible.

      @@Mari_Izu As far as I'm concerned, the name isn't as relevant as what it actually does. If the enemy has a different name, but has a similar design and effectively does the same thing, its the same enemy. Barba for example in Zelda 2 is literally Volvagia. (Tbf, this was a localization thing; in Japan it was literally called Volvagia.)
      Strandtula and Crawltula are just Skulltulas split into two different enemies. I guess Strandtula arguably could be an OOT Skulltula (but smaller), however, they act more like TP/SS Skulltulas without the climbing (they craw on the ground and attack sometimes, but usually they try to create a web strand; I believe TP Skulltulas both crawl on the ground to attack or they can restring themselves, but by default they're usually strung up).
      Crawltula on the other hand is a combination of Skullwalltulas and the TP/SS Skulltula when its on the ground.
      Looking over the Dragonfly... its electrified and doesn't attack with a stinger. So yeah, it doesn't even perform the same function as the Needlefly.

    • @Zephrese
      @Zephrese Місяць тому

      Those were Dragonflies, but the Needleflies are clearly based off of them.
