Yes, I didn’t know the flying tiles could be used for movement… That’s something that completely flew (haha… no?) over my head. You guys can stop commenting it now…😅
The amount of people saying how their list would be much different just goes to show how cool of a game Echoes of Wisdom is! It’s nearly impossible for everyone to use the same echoes throughout the game. As each persons thought process is different. I think that’s really neat!

The decorative shrub and trampoline are some of the most useful echoes early game in order to reach high ledges! With only 3 triangles, I could reach a total of 7 beds of height using only those two, and with the frog ring, the decorative shrub can get you up to 12 beds above the ground! The old bed is not nearly as good for gaining height, as 3 old beds get you as high as a single strampoline. The old bed is however very useful as a platform on top of water, and to build bridges across long gaps (although the flying tile lets you fly across gaps).
I think in general, you rate a lot of the combat echoes based on how good they are to have sitting around, but many of the combat echoes are much better when summoned repeatedly. I would definitely change the rankings around for many of the enemies that are better when spamming.
As an example, the sea urchin is basically like having a sword with a lingering hitbox, as you can spam Y to repeatedly summon them on top of enemies. Sea urchin was definitely a go- to in combat until midgame for me. Similarily, you can spam the flying thing that spits bombs, and the bombs dont despawn when the echo despawns, so you can have like 10 bombs on screen at a time, and you can point it at roughly where you want it to aim. This ensures there will be to many bombs on screen for the enemies to dodge them all!

Might be a hot take, but I think the Sea Urchin is top 10. I was using them all throughout my playthrough, even in the final battle. Having an instantly active, persistent hitbox that some entire enemies are stumped on how to deal with is a fantastic tool to have. Bringing one out is effectively a discount sword swipe, and it provides consistant defensive utility. It also removes the frustration of waiting for it to attack, which a lot of enemy echoes have a problem with.
Ghirro should be higher because for the purposes of gliding, it's the best in the game. Holding onto it will prompt it to wind gust behind you, pushing you forward. They even do this on the ground, making your walking speed faster.
You're using the Flying Tile wrong. It's not meant for combat; it's meant for transportation. Stand on it, and it will take you a rather generous fixed distance, which can cross gaps. If you're good with timing, it can even be used for infinite height. This one should be in the top 20 at least.
Crows have a very important distintion that make them worth so much more than the Albatrawl; Rupee farming. They can knock a lot of Rupees out of enemies and even collect some of them on your behalf.
I would also put Zirro higher because you can pick up the bombs and throw them, and they don't harm you. Meaning that the bomb power-up for Swordfighter mode is useless; why waste your meter when your flying mushroom has your back? I even use this more than the bombfish except for underwater bombing.
Poe is bottom 10. This this is more of a detriment to you than your enemies. If you want to attack with fire, pick anything else; you at least have control over where the Torch Slug spawns its friendly fire, not to mention that Ignizols and Fire Octoroks exist.
I LOVE Moa. Moa's another top 10 for me. It projectiles are fast, true, and powerful, and having 3 of them swarming you will handily take care of bosses that don't require elemental attacks.
I'm glad we can at least agree that Old Bed is the BOAT.

The tile can be used to shoot echoes twice as far as the rod alone.
The ancient orb can be used to attack enemies from above by reverse binding to it to float.
The leever can be used as an melee attack, like the sea urchin, but with continued hits afterwards.
You can do trick shots with holes left by holmills.

Since everybody and their mother has already defended the Flying Tile, let me argue in favor of some others I think are underrated:
    - Spiked Roller: I used this one as a lawnmower for rupee farming. It's so satisfying to clear out fields of grass with it.
    - Ribbitune: This was a godsend for me in the Gohma fights, because it expands the range of Sparks' electricity, making it super easy to activate Gohma's lights and knock it off the wall.
    - Tweelus: You can use them as platforms in lava, and they're way cheaper than the lava rocks.

Two notes for the Rock Roast echo (one for, one against, and likely won’t change the ranking):
First, there actually IS a use for them, albeit an obscure pne. They can distract enemies, similar to the Meat or Stuffed Toy, but specifically the Tweelus enemies are the only ones affected by Rock Roast. This doesn’t make them much more helpful, but it is a use
Secondly, the Rock Roast echo itself is actually not required for the story, since for the story, you must bring a real rock roast to the NPC, the echo doesn’t count. So for the main story, you never have to get the echo at all, most people just will anyways since the item is required and the item is also echo-able

I would love to see a follow-up with some of these updates included. I didn't rank them as I don't have that in me. But would love to see people rank all items down the road. Also if you do another video. Use tier maker. It makes for a super clean ending with that in the last few frames and it will help you put all your thoughts together too.
Sign: Should have points for wrong warping.
Decorative Shrub: In the super early game (specifically very tight spaces and 2D) this was the only way to get verticle height until I got a Crawltula/Strandtula.
Statues: These only cost one and can be used sequentially to make paths for the Goron Mines. Huge help as Lava Rock is just not worth it after learning this. This must be higher than Lava Rock just for this. They are required for 2 dungeons when used this way and have more utility than the decorative shrub. They also don't fall into lava like the Boulders. These may be the biggest oversight IMO in the video besides the Flying Tile.
Ghirro: Best echo to use for flight at long distances as they push you. They can also be bound to push enemies into holes (like the wind cannon). Can also be used to put out fires. Required for a heart piece and 1 dungeon.
Tornado: Can cause super jumping if you bind yourself to a bed and launch the bed.
Needlefly: Has 2 situations to use it. When you need to place a flying troop on water and cannot stand on a floating/permanent ground. I only used this when in the cave for the Lvl3 Lizalfos to get the heartpiece and if I was using waterblocks and needed a distraction in the air. It still is a terrible echo late game. (Edit: I learned yesterday that if you jump then spawn a flying troop over water they are able to stabilize)
Flying tile?!? I used that to skip so much platforming. It is a faster easier way to traverse most rifts and skip puzzles in the dungeons. I would say it should be just under the Water Block higher than the bed. Once I got these two tiles, almost no bed bridges were used again.
Zirro: Abuse the spam summon technique and they can output huge damage to enemies. I used them in the Volvagia boss battle.
I always found the Lvl2 spear Moblin most consistent to kill flying units. I see a bunch of people saying the boomerang is better I just didn't have the consistency with them in mid-game. I would love to see someone really break down the Moblin versus Boarblin discussion.
Octorock: I would use the lvl 1 Tektite before an Octorock every time. However, fire/ice Octorocks are definitely more useful than lvl2 Tektite.
Poe: I used this once to try it. Never used it again. This might be worse the the Sea Urchine in terms of combat. Watch Any% speedruns and you will know what I mean.
Soft bed: Same as Poe, but instead of combat was utility. You get Zelda's bed so soon after this it isn't worth picking up.
Beamos: Higher than the Poe and Deku Baba but still terrible. Should be lower when there isn't a reason I would ever use this.
Fire/Ice Octorocks I used most of the late game. They are the extra chip damage and distraction perfect when I'm using lvl3 Darknut to decimate everything. Try combing these. It almost isn't worth transforming into the Link Echo.
Lavarock: As mentioned before in the Statues section I think this was the biggest mistake besides Flying Tile. Once I learned about both the Statues and Flight, this awful echo can now be skipped.
Wind Cannon: Did you try to reverse bind carrying the Ghirro ever? It's just a better utility version of the wind cannon.
Darknut lvl3: Try binding it and moving it as it spins. Makes it way better.
Old Bed: Because you didn't know the Flying tile, this makes sense. But with this knowledge, I still would make it a top 10. But the cloud, Zelda bed, water block, flying tile, and other options are more efficient when you are creative. I would say the old bed is absolutely the Jack of all trades. No questions. But it is also the Ace of none.

I used the platboom so often once i figured out you can useit outside of the 2D segments. It's so easy to gain infinite hight with them by spawning one when the platboom you're currently on reaches its hight limit. Which makes that second one go even higher. It's probably my 3rd favorite echo. 2nd has got to be the Darknut level 3. I was one of those people who missed out on getting the Lynel before beating the game, and I explored the whole map multiple times, looking for every heart piece and might crystal. I found the Darknut level 3 fairly early into the second half of the game, because I went to the Faron Wetlands first. The old bed is just too good to not be number 1. I dont even need to explain why.

Decorative shrubs are good for platforming to and from high places. The statues are good for blocking the ice and thermal vents in the Lanayru Temple. Sand crabs are good for attacking things that are underwater. Tornadoes can put out fires and blow away mounds of snow. You can ride on top of or get dragged flying tiles, making them very useful. Boxes can float on water, making them quite useful in certain scenarios. Tweelus are also immune to some weak fire and electric attacks, and are capable of fighting underwater. Zirros can be repeatedly spawned and despawned for infinite bombs and the accuracy is much better if you do that. If you bind to the ball and chain trooper, you can make it much more effective offensively, same with Peahats. Lava rocks are great in 2D sections for knocking enemies off walls. Ignizol are also very spammable against enemies because they become very cheap to spawn once Tri is at a higher level and they can be thrown for more damage.

I’m Not sure if people know this but if you use a platboom, go to the top then spawn another next to it the second platboom will go all the way to the ground but go twice as high because it started one platboom length in the air. You can stack this infinitely and quite easily climb up hebra mountain without using caves with this.

Drippitune works well with any electric power echoes. It should be a little higher. Also, the sea urchin I think is top 20 for me. I was able to use it kind of like a melee weapon, and the 1 cost means I could trap enemies in an area surrounded by urchins and they would just die.

Congrats on the job, Some that i would move much to the top 50:
117 - sea urchin is not bad, you'll end up using it a lot through the game, because you can also send it at distance. It's actually 3rd spot on my most used.
106 - Sand crabs are very useful underwater (2d) they're like the best for minibosses that can be overwhelmed. Few of creatures that survive underwater.
100 - Flying tile, are NOT for attacking, you can jump on them and make some jumping puzzles way easier.
94 - Tektite is very good for spamming, their DPS is fairly good, better than the lv2 because it costs only 1
81 - Boomerang Boarblin is good for spamming, boomerang can hit several times so if you spam you can get constant 8+ hits on bosses and multiple enemies. Sometimes better than having 2 lv2
24 - Crawltula, really? I think it is top 5,
Finally, bed is good but it is totally replaced by the cloud that is completely OP.

100% agree on your #1 choice, and it wasn't even up for debate. :D I will disagree on the flying tile placement, though - since you can ride it, it brings it much higher up in the rankings I would say. It'll fly in any of the eight directions for a short-ish distance, easily covering gaps/water/lava/etc so long as the area you're headed to is of the same height or lower.
The Lynel is absolutely fantastic, and I use it all the time now. Even against the smallest of enemies!

Overall, I agree with this list, including your top pick.
    Some exceptions from my experience:
    118. Sea Urchin should be higher. Spamming this, especially in the early game, was very helpful
    105. Ghirro should be much higher. It is incredibly helpful for gliding, though it did screw me over several times by blowing me off platforms if I didn’t immediately get rid of it
    100. Flying tile should be a bit higher. It was very helpful to ride when platforming
    83. Buzz Blobs should be a bit higher. Spamming them is very effective
    33. (O)Peahat absolutely should be higher. Dude was an MVP of my playthrough, especially earlier on. Spamming him was still extremely useful even at the end. I love him so much.
    5. Zelda’s Bed is way too high. The cost isn’t worth it, and the game gives you no shortage of ways to recover health quickly. If you’re not pressed for time, the old bed works fine, especially if you do the speed up trick if you’re just impatient
    2. Cloud is absurdly too high. You get it way too late, and there’s so many equal or better options by then. I never used it outside of that one still area.
Way too high and that I don’t think I used once:
    70. Ice block
    69. Goo Spector (though I respect your rationale)
    65. Hoarder
    64. Giant Goponga Flower
    57. Temper Tweelus (though again I respect your rationale)
    53. Poe
    41. Beamos
    32. Gustmaster
    25. Pathblade
    16. Carrot (I got the horse early and barely used it)

Ok, the first i am going to hard disagree with is flying tile. Yes, it sucks in combat, but that isnt the reason it is one of my most used. It is a mobility echo. Place it, use the wind up time to jump on it, fly a short distance unbothered by wind and ignoring gravity. The flight is just short enough that it is easy to plan around, and it can be argued that planning is enough to put it above trap blade simply for being more predictable, if not the flight factor.
I wont go so far as to rank them, but i definitely see the echoes in categories:
-Mobility: Water Block (Generalist mobility), Flying Tile (Pits and strong wind null) , Crawltula (wall climber), Platboom (instant height), Girro (best glider in the game)
-Combat: Lynel (best combat), any 5 summon slot minion is about on par with the others of the same cost, peahat (king of the early game)
-Elemental: used for their elemental properties, mostly interchangeable with different strengths and weaknesses
Without actively looking at my list, my top 5 are probably water block, flying tile, lynel, crawltula, and platboom, in that order.
While i cant deny cloud is good, it is obtained so late in the game that it has to compete with water block for usage, and there are very few instances where cloud can do a job water cant outside of the region you get it. On top of that, cloud has one major downside in comparison to clouds: ceilings. You are practically FORCED to gain elevation with clouds, but using water blocks lets you control your elevation in the same places you would abuse it for mobility. With forced elevation, there is an upper limit to what can be achieved with clouds horizontally, and in its most useful locations, you dont have enough vertical height to work with to abuse it.

  • @nodrance
    @nodrance 22 дні тому

The darknut 3 can out DPS the lynel
The water block can be placed against walls to let you climb any wall with full freedom, especially in 2d, and can even let you get places the cloud doesn't (mostly narrow holes or gaps)
    You didn't mention the pajamas
and at the end of the game you can summon 3 chompfins, not 2
