Can confirm. He kills you with force lightning, like he's Palpatine. Also, every NPC refers to you as "THIEF" for the rest of the game.
Not in the randomizer tho.
yeah he zaps you with lightning also your name is changed to THIEF after you steal

Im so glad they remade this game, i owned the original gameboy color copy of the game, but there was a gamebreaking glitch that locks you out of all progression. In one of the dungeons there was a specific room where a key is meant to drop, but if you are really unlucky you could kill all the enemies in the room (which is meant to spawn the key) and the jingle would play where the key is meant to spawn...but then it doesnt. You can leave and re-enter the room and dungeon and it will just keep repeating that jingle over and over, but the key wont spawn. Your save file is then completely fucked because there's no way to save it and you have to restart over from the beginning lol
To be honest, I never knew there was a red tunic and a sword upgrade at all so this helps me with my current playthrough with Link's Awakening.

Jeah about thad the Tunic is the Reward for Beating the Color Dungeon but you have to decide if you want Blue (More Defense) or Red (More Damage) the Sword upgrade is the end of the Shell collecting quest fun fact the Color Dungeon wasn't in the Original game because it was for the old gameboy wich didn't has color but later in the Remake for gameboy color Called "Links Awakening DX" it got added
@@93Hexer In the Switch remake, the Koholint sword is actually the second to last reward for the seashells. The last reward is a chamber stone. That allows you to get it a little bit earlier, making it actually useful for more than just the final boss.

Link’s Awakening is really fun 😊 I love the open world Zeldas but sometimes I miss the more linear gameplay of the “older” titles.

You might be able to argue definitions but for the most part no. None of the old games (except maybe the first Zelda and Windwaker with the ocean) allows you to access or even see the full map (even something like Hyrule field is just a very large zone, on the old handheld games it only loads partials of the map because of hardware limitations, which makes it look very open but probably falls short of the general understanding of open world as you’re just loading in zones) and due to the linearity of the gameplay unless you’re glitching/hardcoding something (which is usually not how the game is designed to be played) most of the map is locked behind item or story checks anyway which limits where you can go and what you can do.
Same I was addicted to watching Randomizer races back in the day on OoT and Wind Waker and after finding Linkus' channel I'm in heaven learning pretty much every Zelda has a randomizer too, they're so fun because it's almost like a scavenger hunt
An extra difficulty rise on Turtle Rock is in the original GameBoy version:
Due to a slight progression oversight, it was actually possible to soft-lock your game, forcing you to restart from scratch.
It was due to the small keys, and not unlocking doors in a certain order.
As much as I want to see a totally original new 2D zelda, I'd also like to see the oracle games given the same treatment as awakening. They're probably some of the most slept on Zelda games with plenty of neat unique ideas.

Yeah man, absolutely. Make a commentated speedrun of the whole game. I always enjoy those, and I pick up the easy tricks to pull them off when I replay the games.
In the original (and DX) you hit the switch at 38:30 with the boomerang IIRC. (The boomerang was super broken in general in the original.)

Links awakening HD is so underrated
It really is. Everyone focused too hard on the graphic style but honestly it fits so well. I would love to see an HD remake in this style of ages/seasons, and we have the technology to make them one game this time.
I hope the oracles of ages and seasons could get this remake too

I remember when I got the game I instantly checked the back (as everyone should). After you mentioned that they never brought it up in game, I'm glad I always check the back, as I loved using bomb arrows in boss fights.

6:45 In the GB version of this game, you could also flip these enemies with the shovel. I haven't tried it in the remake, but I am sure it would work.

This was one of my first Zelda game which I louve
quite a few checks missing cause pretty sure you can fish up a bottle in the fishing minigame. Also the item could be apart of the trade sequence. And also it could of been a shell reward.

He said ONE OF the only; and when the original Link's Awakening came out, the only other game with on-demand jumping was Zelda II. Between Link's Awakening's release in 1993 and Breath of the Wild's release in 2017, the only Zelda games with jumping items were Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages and Minish Cap, which were all developed by Capcom with heavy inspiration (and borrowed assets) from Link's Awakening.

first off really cool randomizer now onto the really unrelated question i litearly just finished another playthrough of banjo-kazooie and saw that you played it. i was wondering out of curiosity have you ever played the sequel. also you got lucky. my first seed i had to do turtle rock without a sword.

Link's Awakening was the very first Zelda game I ever played. The weekend it came out, I played and beat the remake in a few hours I was that hyped to have that game redone. Now I really want the Oracle games done in this style too.
