Changed my life. I was alone and depressed. Didn’t know what a tree was. I felt trapped. Crippling anxiety whenever I came upon a door. But then I found going outside. It was a struggle at first. I can’t tell you how many times I broke down in tears wanting to quit. After 6 months of classes though I finally got outside and saw my first tree. I met new people and was incredibly nervous when I ever I talked to them. Finally after three more months I was going outside frequently and could hold an every day conversation. I wouldn’t have survived if I didn’t find this class. Thanks SweeneyTv, I owe you my life.

I can't even get thru half of this comment without laughing but one of those nervous laughs... I just got this book very randomly (popped into a thrift shop with my sister for 2minutes and randomly bought it to check out.) It's called The Last Child In The Woods... the page I scanned talked about trees in particular (and being outside) and being linked to depression, aniexty, adhd and much more. ... I have been having this deep itch to climb trees again like when I was a child.. it'd be a healthy activity too. Lol I appreciate all the humor here

I'm gonna sound like the "uhm actually guy" but I believe its important to make the distinction about it. I enjoyed the video and wanted to share my thoughts on it.
Being alone is a physical fact about not being around other people. A man at a party is not alone, while someone who went to camping by themselves is alone.
Being lonely is a mental state about the desire for companionship or someone to relate to. To quote Carl Jung :
"Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible."
Someone at a party can feel lonely although not being alone, meanwhile another person can be alone without feeling lonely.
Loneliness might come from boredom, lack of people to relate to, lack of self awareness, feeling of being useless or even just by using social media.
Working on your inner self and planning activities to find out what you enjoy doing are great ways to overcome loneliness. One might feel the need to interact with others to overcome this conundrum while someone else might find it hard to find people that they can truly relate to, pulling them away from interactions.

Honestly i always felt the most lonely around my ex childhood friend. He was just noisy af and i couldn't hear myself and also express myself. Now i am alone but I feel way less lonely. Weird
You guys better watch who you spend time with.
At first it was hard but now I feel ten times better and even feeling of guilt is gone. It was just a friend but it felt so exhausting to know him like a full time relationship ugh. Constant nagging, constant why you won't come, constant judging omg, constant talk about rating girls 1-10 and showing me Instagram profiles of his thousands crushes. Seemed like I exited there only to admire his holy fuk let time erase these memories please

@@thefourthbrotherkaramazov245 “let me make a stupid quote that makes me seem philosophical.” Bro I go outside, go to work for 60 hours a week and have met literal thousands of people.
You haven’t experienced it. You don’t know what it’s like. You can be around all 7 billion people on earth and still feel lonly and depressed. People like you are the problem. Instead of uplifting those people and making them feel welcome, you shame them and throw dumb ass quotes you saw in a Reddit post at them. Depression is a real thing. People take their own lives everyday and that’s something I’m struggling with now. Every single night I get home from work and I get black out drunk and wake up with a loaded gun in my hand and the safety off. I don’t want to die. I don’t want to leave my family behind. I don’t want to be this way. But until you’ve been there, you’ll never understand. You’ll never know that struggle of just wanting the pain and thoughts to stop. Every single day is a fight for our life and we’re doing it alone with absolutely nobody to support us. Everyone who gave up and couldn’t take it anymore, I hope they found the peace they were looking for. I pray to God that he forgave them and accepted them. Every single person who’s killed themself I have sympathy for. They wanted to be literally anywhere else but trapped in their own mind. You have no idea what it’s like. So until you’ve been there, you have no right to speak on it. These people are fighting every single day and they’re doing it by themselves. Wait until your family abandons you. Wait until the girl/guy you’re deeply in love with leaves you for somebody else. Wait until your family takes that guy/girls side and treats them better than they treat you. Wait until you have no money. Wait until everything you loved is taken from you. Then you’ll understand what it means to be lonely. Until then, stfu.

This is an old video so no one's probably going to notice this but I'd just like to clarify that going outside doesn't really help with feeling lonely. In my experience it just intensifies the feeling, because while you're going about your business outside, doing whatever, all by yourself, you're surrounded by friend groups, couples, families, etc. It makes me feel worse because it gives you a blunt, clear visual of everything that you're missing out on but don't know how to find. I spend a lot of time going out anyway, because I have a lot of hobbies that I can't do inside and just because it's nice to get out and see the world, but it does nothing for loneliness. Nothing at all.
