im jamaican....i notice we have all the ingredients here to make this dish. All this time...we had cassava, yam, plaintain....and it could make fufu. No one here makes fufu, but just by watching ur video, fufu could easily become one of jamaica's favourite dishes if we learn how to make it, and start selling it in restuarants. Amazing video. I love Nigerian dishes.

True, we don't make it here in Grenada either. But I tried it once. Boy, it was hard work. You got to be strong but I enjoyed it. I don't know why our ancestors didn't teach us. Thank God for the net oh. I love African dishes. They can really cook.

I'm jamaican and my grand father used to make fufu out of cassava. I'm in my 60's, my father is 103 years old and my grand father would have been over 150 yes old. Reason I'm explaining is because perhaps from the old days, some.e of our people used to make authentic African meals. I make and eat fufu as do my children but only because I was taught. We come from a long line of maroons.

@@lunaanimationsyt5524 There are lots of fufus. I think the one you are referring to is yam flour fufu, which is different from cassava fufu. There is also amala, eba, rice flour fufu, original authentic iyan-pounded African yam fufu, green plantain flour fufu, oatmeal fufu, and others that I have never tried before. They all taste differently. Fufu is the name they call them in nonAfrican countries because it is hard to explain the differences of these meals to nonAfrican people. Calling them all fufu just makes things easier. The most famous one that nonAfricans try is the yam powder fufu, and you can get the powder on Amazon.
I think you are referring to the yam powder fufu.

Very wonderful and appetizing. Thanks for the new style. How ever the species of cassava in Igbo land are highly acidic and that's the reason for soaking. I suggest that to avoid any health hazards, if you are not sure of the species of cassava you are using, it is safer to soak the cut cassava in water at least over night, then drain the water and blend. Just my personal opinion, please. Thanks.

In some countries, like the US, only sweet cassava (less toxic, will not be toxic after cooked) is sold as a root, bitter cassava (more toxic, requires lots of processing to be edible), will only be sold already processed into a safe powder, and it’s typically processed by peeling, grating or grinding the tubers followed by soaking in water which is likely changed/rinsed several times.
I say this to say, that unless you are completely sure bitter cassava is not sold in local markets as a fresh root, please, please be very careful when recreating any recipe containing cassava root. I would suggest treating all cassava like bitter cassava (research how to make safe) if you’re unsure.

I remember my Jamaican Grandmother cooking bami which is made from cassava and as you mention she would soak for a couple of days and could use the by product as starch for ironing clothes.

I am from Brazil. We also have a lot of dishes with cassava here. However we call mandioca not cassava. In some regions there are also other names. It's the same stuff but we call with different names. Your channel is very good. Congrats!

There is also tapioca in Brazil!
It's made with mandioca flour. You can fill it with whatever you want. But it is more common to stuff it with cheese.

Thank you so much Queenvarities🥰 ...my husband came home today with some cassava so I checked UA-cam to see what I can do with it and I saw your video. We both decided to prepare your recipe and it turned out just fine 🙂 but I don't know what happened to the taste, it had this mixture of sweet and sour taste, so I want to know if that's how the taste is suppose to be. Thank 😊 you
