I actually had this for the first time last week. Couldn't stop eating it! Delicious! Soooo moist, sweet and alittle chewy. Yummy! Thank you for sharing the recipe!! I am a new subscriber. Glad I found you!! ☺
Excellent recipe and easy, what most people don't know is the exquisite flavor of cassava. I grew up in the Caribbean and my mom used to cook cassava for dinner and used to buy cassava candy wrapped in plantain leaf and also cassava flat bread. Thank you, what a beautiful dessert.
My mother always brought this home to us as a treat on Saturdays from the market. I didn't realize how easy it is to prepare. God rest her soul. Thanks for sharing.
I'd been making cassava cake but I always bake it in the oven. Never tried the steam one. Your delicious looking thumbnail made me click the video and I think I'll try your style of cooking the cassava cake next time. You've taken the toppings to the next level, very eye-catching and yummylicious looking!
This was how my father used to do make. We did not have an oven, that was when nobody seemed to even know or liked cassava. Glad to know there is still somebody who appreciates the way it was originally made. And personally, I like it better.
Thank you for this recipe it's the only staple I can use to make a dessert.no eggs dairy flour everything has to be gluten free sooo happy I just found this recipe made my day.our little girl will feel happy safe and wouldn't feel left out 🙏❤️👍🤗
In Trinidad we would add grated dried coconut to this to make pone. Some ppl add a little piece of pumpkin too. Along with spices, especially some black pepper to bring out great flavour.
Thanks for the recipe and for showing how to process the kamoteng kahoy. Also, I have to say, your background music is actually very pleasant and I didn’t have to mute the sound. And I’m glad you cooked with sugnod. That’s how it was in my childhood. Glad I discovered your channel.
We have one similar to this. We call it cassava pone in Trinidad. But we also would add grated coconut, pumpkin, and sweet potato as well. And also a little bit of ground black pepper. It's nice and sweet a nd chewy with just a little bit of heat. Love it.
Awesome ! We do exactly the same in Fiji . We have a variation though for a dessert called qalu or vakalolo where we mix equal amounts of grated cassava and mashed ripe bananas and some sugar. It is then baked then cut up in edible squares. We then make thick syrup from melted brown sugar and thick coconut cream. This is chilled then the cassava banana pieces are coated with the syrup and ya ready to eat !!!!
First time to try cooking this recipe and my family loves it!Thank you for sharing your recipe to us.God bless uou more and continue sharing your talent to us!
So simple a recipe! We have grown a lot of them and i was wondering how to cook it differently. Thank you. And i love the idea of cooking it over coal.

Thanks for sharing this video..I used to do this but I like your way of cooking ..the way you peel a cassava that's great and amazing. Watching from Philippines. Life with Erl here
Just a suggestion, when you squeezed the excessive liquid from the cassava, why didn't you squeeze it into a sink? I saw you squeezed it to the grated cassava bowl.
Sharing my opinion, she just wants to reduce water from the grated cassava but she needs to retain the starch so that the texture of the cake will not be soggy but springy. Hope i am right!
In Suriname we have different receipes of casava cake its called bojo.we have de refined bojo with milk and eggs vanilla and coconut milk. And the one were fe casava is mixed with a little shrededcoconut and cinnamon vanilla milk coconut milk and sugar.ofcourse we add raisins but its optional and pine apple in pieces

Tastes just as good without, just using coconut and sugar

Hi - here in Barbados we called this cassava pone and if you don't have cassava you can use corn flour.
In Trinidad we would add grated dried coconut to this to make pone. Some ppl add a little piece of pumpkin too. Along with spices, especially some black pepper to bring out great flavour.
I like the simplicity of your cassava cake with only 3 ingredients. I also like the idea of caramelized sugar at the bottom.
This is by far the more fresh and natural way of cooking cassava cake
I love it !!
