The fury of a Timelord is best shown in this quote:
10th Doctor: Whatever you've got planned, forget it! I'm the Doctor. I'm 904 years old. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm the Oncoming Storm, the Bringer of Darkness, and you... are basically just a rabbit, aren't you? Ok, carry on... just a... general... warning...

Think about this for a moment:
The War Doctor, the only incarnation to not use the name "Doctor", is the one who actively fought in the Time War and presumably killed more Daleks that any other incarnation. So if he didn't call himself "the Doctor", we can only assume that for that incarnation, he reverted back to using his real name, which could also explain why the Doctor now runs from his name. So if the one time he used his true name was the same incarnation that had the most blood on his hands, that could mean that deep down, whether he wants to admit it or not, "the Doctor" is just a mask to hide his true self--the self that emerges whenever he encounters the Daleks, or is exposed to a degree of injustice or evil that he can no longer keep his true self in check.
The Doctor despised his Time War incarnation for so long because it was the only incarnation in which he was being true to himself, and he hates the truth about himself. Contrary to what we've always believed, the Daleks are NOT the ones who hate the Doctor more than anyone else in the universe. Their hate for him is nothing compared to the hate he has for himself. He hates himself so much he denies his own name. He is so ashamed of it that he literally took it to his grave

In fact in the Matt smith episode with the Dreamlord, the Dreamlord is the hidden darkness the Doctor says and the Doctor says to him your the one being that hates me the most in the universe. The Dreamlord is possibly The man the doctor really is deep down.

    • @Mizore621

time and time again its referred to the doctor hating himself more then anyone else
ie, the architect, the mystery behind the door(the tardis in the reflection of his eyes), and even the dreamlord was supposed to be a form of himself

    • @ErisEntropy
      @ErisEntropy 7 років тому +10

Nah, the doctor's name is δ³Σx² and the dreamlord is still that. The Valeyard is the manifestation of all the doctor's evil incarnate, which is not the same as the dreamlord. We'll likely see the Valeyard in the future though, and it could be any time now, since he was created sometime after twelve.

He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains, forged in the heart of a dwarf star. He tricked my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy. To be imprisoned there... forever. He still visits my sister, once a year, every year. I wonder if one day he might forgive her... but there she is. Can you see? He trapped her inside a mirror. Every mirror. If ever you look at your reflection and see something move behind you just for a second, that's her. That's 'always' her. As for me, I was suspended in time and the Doctor put me to work standing over the fields of England as their protector. We wanted to live forever. So the Doctor made sure we did.

4:36 is perhaps one of the most terrifying moments in the history of Doctor Who. We see our hero, our champion, The Doctor looking down on genocide with barely a care. The 4th hesitated when he had the chance to do the same to the Daleks, 10 eradicated the Rancross without blinking. This is why Doctor Who is the greatest sci fi series of all time, it's hero is willing to do whatever is necessary to safeguard life, even if it means doing the unthinkable. I remember a concept from Terry Pratchett 'Pray you're never at the mercy of a good man, he'll kill you with hardly a word'.

I agree his dark side can be DARK; another example is in season 9, episode 10 Face the Raven where the 12 doctor, in response to Ashildr saying "I know the doctor and the doctor would never", says "The Doctor is no longer here, your stuck with me, and I will end you and everything you love". For the Doctor to say he isn't the Doctor, ie he is breaking his promise, is truly terrifying.

a man who has gone for to long to care if he lives or dies.

A man that fights wars without raising a finger or weapon. A man who runs from his life and his time with nothing to hold on to. A Time Lord the final one in existence who lives with such hate, fear and fury. The Doctor, The oncoming storm, the destroyer of worlds, the protector of earth, A mad Man in a blue box. The 9th Doctor - full of hate, the 10th Doctor - Full of Aggression and anger, the 11th Doctor - Poison within his words. There's a reason he has the nicknames. While our protector, the destroyer of worlds. While our lonely angel, the bringer of darkness. The oncoming storm. The Ageless God. The Last Child Of Gallifrey. The Last of the TimeLords. As another user said, I loved how wonderfully diverse they made Tennant, Eccleston, and Smith regarding their emotional states for expressions of anger. Tennant is an example of violent vengeance, Smith is emotional - when he's angry, he's raging at the world, teary-eyed *or* extremely spiteful - the stern, quiet clear demands ramping up to an explosion of anger. In comparison, Eccleston is raw straight violence. He's in your face from the beginning. He's sarcastic and cruel.

Is it bad that at those times I feel the most drawn to the Doctor as a character? Those times where we get to see, who he really is. He's not a hero. He's really a madman, hiding behind a mask, even from himself. Everything he does is not to save people, it's to save himself, prove to himself that he is still worth saving. He has his companions for that exact same reason. They mostly see him as a good person and to fulfill what they see, the Doctor tries even harder. He actually gets himself a living, breathing conscience, a bit of humanity which he has to leave and replace every few years because travelling with the Doctor destroys everyone's humanity. And he knows that. Afraid of himself he smiles to cover his fear.

I have to say, I like seeing these glimpses of the Doctor's darker side. I like seeing him so tortured, enjoy seeing him face his own demons. In general, I do tend to enjoy characters that have a very real, palpable dark side. But even more than that, knowing that he's this vulnerable, complex being makes me care about him all the more. Knowing that his great capacity for compassion, courage, understanding, love, and overall psychological resilience come from years of fighting the rage, indignation, grief, hate, and bitterness--the same rage, indignation, grief, hate, and bitterness that made the Valeyard the demon he was--makes me respect him all the more.

I hate how some people and the characters in the show, including the doctor, say that he is not a hero and a good man because of what he does to his enemies. What they forget is he has always tried to avoid any harm. He has even given chance to a Dalek and saved Davros as a kid. He is ruthless only when absolutely necessary. He had to kill a billion Timelords and Daleks to save the universe. He did it because he had no choice. He has a darker side like everyone else does but he has never showed his darker side to someone who don't deserve it. If you are good and have done no wrong, you will never have to face the fury of the doctor. If that is not a hero, i don't know who is. If he wasn't a hero, the regret that he has, from every horrible things he had to do, would have turned him into something so dangerous, the reality itself would have been at stake. He is a hero by any standard. His name is a promise and he has rarely broken it. He is and will always be the doctor.

I like it that this montage shows how cold and vengeful the Doctor can be.
For example, in 4:20-4:30, the Doctor tells the guy that he used to have so much mercy.
If I was that old, I would have no mercy left by the time I'd be commenting on this.
If anyone Who lives as long as Time-Lords, I'd be surprised if they had any mercy towards the people Who became a threat to their loved ones.
Comment and/or like if you agree or disagree with this opinion/observation

True I kinda thought this before too. After so much time and experience of negative shit one would become so numb to things. Exacting their own judgements based on their experiences. Although it seems like the doctor has really big hearts to keep trying to trust and gives chances to those who he is fighting against. He kinda never gives up. I could understand that in my own life time but I couldnt imagine having the same mindset after thousands of years... watching horrible cycles repeat themselves.

It's compilations like this that make me realise why I was drawn to this series in the first place, and despite having never watched a single episode (clips on UA-cam notwithstanding) can't seem to stop obsessing over the lore of the Whoniverse. The Doctor reminds me of Skulduggery Pleasant in the way he's so terrifying to his enemies, yet so witty, charming and likeable to his friends. The way he would try so hard to do the right thing only to suddenly realise he really wasn't the good guy, he was more an anti-hero than anything. As a huge huge fan of the Skulduggery Pleasant series, this is like seeing a much more terrifying version of Skul come to life. It's amazing

His punishment to the Family of Blood was seriously dark and cold as well. It just showed how angry he was. David is my fav actor from the 3 Docs. He switches from dark to light in a sec and is totally believable.

Careful you hit something close to perfection this time. My only issue is that certain parts are a bit poor in quality. but otherwise this is fantastic. Though I do think the last scene fell a bit flat with riversong. Maybe if the hunter's monologue had an echo effect at the end or something and that was the ending. The Fury of a good man is not to be taken lightly, no matter how weak he may seem, never underestimate him, even if they say he never killed anyone with a gun or sword, because he does much worse, he makes them take their own lives, causes an event which causes the death of an army feared by hundreds of species, and even will erase you from existence, whether he wants to, or not.
There is a reason so many fear the doctor. Because he can do things to you that the sontarans, the slitheen, midnight, cybermen, vashta nerada, The silence, Omega, The Beast, and even the Daleks would not dare do. That is the reason to fear him should you threaten him and then learn who he is. what is more scarier than a good man's Fury you may ask? Unlike other people who would say nothing, I actually know of the thing more horrific than the fury of the time lord: The one who not only withstands it, but who's fury makes the good man's seem like a mere child compared to a being who found all existence painful, and when ever was awake, would destroy all it saw with a single, Angry command. The Thing more scary than the time lord is the one who will not stop until it sees him and destroys all, the one who the doctor himself truly fears, the one the doctor could never touch. The [CENSORED-HIGHER LEVEL CLEARANCE NEEDED].

oh shit, and now you just gave me another shitty theory idea about the Gman 😂 :
what if the Gman was a fallen time lord who was so powerful that he didn't need a tardis to travel through time ? plus "The Government Man" sounds like a nice time lord nickname ^^

      9: "I had no choice"
10: "You always have a choice"
That was the best moment in the video. It's so earie to hear those lines back to back from the same person.

He has been. When he screamed at Col. Runaway for "coming after me through the people I love." Right after that scene he says "Look at that, I'm angry. That's new. I don't know what will happen now."

***** Waters of Mars... or if you prefer the cold version of anger, "he never raised his voice. That was the worst part." Family of Blood. That was really really scary.
