It’s always very comforting and inspiring to see you get excited about makeup products while staying grounded in your adagio beauty principles. It shows us that we can be excited about makeup without the follow through of buying it - something that is VERY much needed right now in the thick of such delicious and tempting sales. I also gave up caffeine several months ago. Yay for us saying no to caffeine and coloured dirt. 😉 Isn’t it funny how the things that tempt us the most are often the things we do not need at all? It’s like we always have to fight our makeup-loving monsters and their forceful irrationality. I found myself tempted to buy Makeup by Mario’s Ethereal Eyes palette even though it looks almost EXACTLY like Byredo’s Remembrance palette - a palette I use almost daily. It rationally makes absolutely no sense, but his videography and photography is some sort of witchery that makes me lose any kind of logical thinking. I enjoyed your interpretive dance segment. Hopefully your shoulder has healed well enough so that we can see some I Panned You dance moves soon as well. 😉
You just pointed out the most important lesson I've learned over the last couple of years: that it is possible to be joyfully obsessed with makeup and yet not feel a need to purchase everything I think I'd like. The longer I exercise these muscles, the easier it's becoming. But it is still very much an active exercise for me. Welcome to the caffeine-free life! I hope it's treating you well. I've actually found it easier than I thought I would. I completely understand what you mean about being tempted by the Makeup By Mario Ethereal Eyes palette even though you also have something so similar. I so often like the same type of thing. It took me far too long to realize that I don't need to have every version of that one thing. I'm still realizing it, I think. Thank you so much for the well-wishes! My shoulder is already feeling so much better. Hopefully there will be some crazy dance moves in the near future. Thanks for always hanging out with me in the comments, Brittany. It's always lovely to hear your thoughts!
Thanks, Maria! It was my pleasure - thanks for the great reviews. You made that Tom Ford quad look beautiful! I hope you had a great trip and that you recover from the jet lag quickly.
completely understand the exercise of latching onto any small thing to talk myself out of buying makeup. what's been staying my hand on the hourglass holiday palette was an inability to choose between the palette packaging, they made them all too pretty and i can't decide! also i felt that gasp at the price of the chantecaille single in my soul. girl that's 75% the price of the hourglass palette, what on earth lol
Sometimes the straws I grasp are tiny, but as long as they keep me from overpurchasing makeup, that's fine by me. ;-) I can understand your indecision with those Hourglass palettes. The packaging is really pretty. I know! Chantecaille really knows how to find a breath-taking price point! 😂
I’ve learned two things today….Firstly, you look fantastic in orange!! Also, we watch all the same creators!! I, too, have noticed all of the flowery holiday releases. Your global warming theory made me 😂😂😂 Especially with the CDP preparing us for our coasts going underwater. But then 😭😭😭 because…well, you know, all the reasons. I have been wanting the Gucci bronzer forever, but I’d rather have the normal packaging, too! So I’m waiting at least until next spring/summer. I’m safe for now! Hourglass got me this year. It’s my first Hourglass palette, and I regret it 100%. I don’t tend to like face palettes, but I’m doing so much traveling this fall and thought I could use it for everything since it has finishing powders, blush, bronzer, and highlighter. Plus THE OWL! Well, I haven’t taken it traveling at all. The bronzer shade isn’t my favorite, the blushes look the same on my cheeks and are both cool. If I had a cool and a warm it would have been more useful to me. I like the highlighter. The finishing powders are beautiful, but I don’t use finishing powders every day, and I’m too oily to use them as setting powders. So in the end, I would have been better off buying an owl print to hang on my wall and a single mini blush or bronzer in a shade I’d like. I was right to always pass on these. I’m not a face palette person. Lesson learned. I have one more creator for you to watch, and she helped me get over the Chanel holiday palette with her review. Search for DearEvaHansen ‘s Chanel Beauty Holiday 2023 video. Plus, since we watch all the same creators, I think you’d enjoy her!
Thanks, Lisa! 🧡 It's funny how we so often feel like we're watching creators all alone, but it really is a community. Well... if the end of the world is coming, I guess our makeup will look good in the process. 😭 That Gucci bronzer is definitely at the top of my list, but I don't want to purchase it until I'm finished curating what I currently have. So maybe next year will finally be the year I get to try it! I'm sorry to hear the Hourglass palette didn't work out for you. Palettes that we don't assemble ourselves can be so hit-or-miss. That Owl design almost got me too. Thank you for the channel suggestion! I love discovering new people and haven't watched Eva before.
Lovely video! I've talked myself out of buying Charlotte Tilbury and makeup by Mario palette this year because I have so many eyeshadow palettes and don't wear them every day anymore and I hate that I don't use all my makeup! But I enjoy in useing what I already have 😊
Congratulations on exercising your will power. Viva la resistance!!! I appreciate the time you took to make such a thorough review video. By the way, what lipstick are you wearing here?

Many people fell pray to that Makeup by Mario palette. It's gorgeous, so I can understand why! I've heard that some of the quints are still good, but unfortunately the one I had been eyeing for years wasn't one of them.
I saw the dior palette in passing and then couldn't find it as a gucci release and thought i was going crazy...until i saw it again on another account. So i know exactly what you mean! Plus i thought the same for the chanel-lancôme palette component. I zoomed in to see what was going on and realised its not even lancôme, but chanel!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought those floral palettes looked related! And when it comes to Lancome/Chanel: it really does look like the same component. I haven't looked into the formulas, but I find it hard to believe that the ingredients are worth twice as much in the Chanel palette...
* trying to knit a sock while listening/glancing at the video * Hum... * hears Stephanie saying " I bought the Mothership X a few month ago !" * Wait what ? When ?! How did I miss this info !? Have I forgotten ? And the Starbucks palette ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was in my last Adagio Update video where I talked about what I bought. I'm not surprised if you missed it or forgot... I talk about a LOT of makeup here. 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah... "Starbucks" just seemed kind of fitting with those pops of green. 🤣 I hope your sock is coming a long well!
I have both the Makeup by Mario palette and the ND I Need a Nude and I like the Natasha better! Better formulas! Good choice. The Gucci bronzer *is* worth it in my opinion 😊
I'm so glad to hear that from someone who owns both palettes. That makes me feel even better about my decision. 😊 Once I finish curating what I already have, that Gucci bronzer is at the top of my list.
I just found your channel again and appreciate the reviews. Perhaps all the pinks and purple colors this season is do to 'The Color Purple' movie being re-released in December. It first came out in 1985. I read the book first, of course, but enjoyed both the book and movie. Anyway, who knows why, but that's what I'm thinking.
Thanks for taking a moment to say hi, Alison! And I had no idea "The Color Purple" was rereleasing. That would be interesting if that's why there are so many pinks and purples on the market.
I like that 'will this add value to my collection?' I know "limited edition" and its back. I didn't have fomo then and won't have it now the makeup by Mario. Glad I didn't get the Dior big palette 2 years and last year. That's probably why there wasn't another one. I keep eyeing that Dior Gold holiday quint. But I have not tried the new formula yet so another pass lol. Tom Ford burned me with their customer service so not getting any thing from them for awhile. I would like to get the Huda Beauty one than the ND. WOW Stephanie thank you for the shout. You have a calming presence not me. OMG that Dior quint is the same as the Chanel. Are we being duped with these brands? lol. Starbucks lol. Great video!!! XOXO
Yay! We can both skip the Makeup By Mario FOMO. 😂 That Dior Gold quint does look really nice. But I'm with you - I don't want to be a guinea pig for the new formula. You're the second person I've heard talk about getting burned by Tom Ford recently. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that they were bought by The Estée Lauder Companies. I am definitely leaning toward that Huda Beauty Palette. I think Natasha Denona's Xenon palette would end up pulling too blue on me. I think I'd have to see them in person before I make a final decision though. Of course I had to shout you out! I've had a lot of fun watching your videos. :-D
@@TheStyleStumbler LoL, true but I still like the beauty behind the take. Cue the song: "You're so vain you probably think this song is about you ". Oh wait it is 😃
I still have scars from the several times I've been burned by rushing to buy various things released as a "limited edition" only to find out that a little while later that there would be a general release. Doing multiple packaging releases withe the same product content *cough*Taylor's version reissues*Cough* is something that has been getting on my nerves lately. Why should I spend oodles of money to get the same thing over and again when there is no material difference to the product? It frustrates me, both because I've fallen for it in the past and because it adds extra decisions to the tree when I go to make purchases. Also because I am not in the financial position to be a kid with adult money. To your query of competing companies stealing branding styles/and packaging looks from each other, it definitely happens because it's an easy trick to pull. As for the springy, flowery designs and shades as winter holiday releases, it could just be an attempt to break longstanding stereotypes. I also think some of the springy colors can be used for a bit of New Years celebratory fun. Cauliflower texture in any respect other than munching on raw cauliflower is a hard DO NOT WANT. Even just the thought of it without picturing anything scares me. I can only imagine how that must have felt on your face. And I would definitely go with the spike in Barbie popularity from the movie as the main fault for all the pink everywhere. I'm surprised Pepto Bismol didn't do a tie in. I very much enjoyed your subtle Star Wars reference. Good shot Red 2. Cosmic Smurf Stephanie 😂🤣😂🤣 I might be an outlier in this opinion, but Bravo and massive kudos to you for successfully talking yourself out of release you mentioned. I think you are getting really well versed in your Adagio Beauty mindset and being able to resist the temptations. The FOMO is another ever-present stumbling block , but you mange it well in logicing your way passed it. The biggest thing I see with Adagio Beauty as you do these videos is that you are not only curating your makeup collection but also curating yourself in a way. It's a true expression of you. Lurving what you have and getting max enjoyment out of it is much better than the fleeting hit of the purchase of the new shiny that quickly fades. In my own experience, that quick high has a deeper low that follow and the purchase flame out is not worth it even though circumstances still conspire to make me fall into the trap occasionally. I also enjoyed your balanced take on other creators you referenced. It seems too prevalent today that trends explode because every falls to the peer pressure of the bandwagon. That you can take other opinions on board but still apply your own self with a bit of separation says a lot. I think you might be on to something with the seeming climate-change-apocalypse-spring-flowers-in-December line of thought. I've had this sense for a while that certain companies, stores, etc are keying in on the immediate gratification idea that their customer base is either blessed with a financial position where money is of little concern or people who have resigned themselves to being in massive debt forever. No one seems to be planning for a future anymore.
The pain of getting burned by buying limited edition things haunts me too - it's what has stopped me from impulse buying so many things this year. So maybe the pain isn't all bad. At least I learned something. ;-) The whole "extra decision-tree" issue with LE packaging never even occurred to me, but you're so right! We're ALREADY so fatigued with decisions - why add one more? It's probably a tactic to weaken us into buying stuff. Understandable from a brand perspective, but frustrating as a consumer trying to make good decisions. It's true: we don't just need silver and gold to celebrate the New Year - springy colors are beautiful and can bring life to a party. I guess it just surprised me because I've never seen a pink-themed holiday deluge like this before. I guess it's a good thing that I've realized that I like pink. 😂 Yeah... cauliflower eyelids just don't seem appealing to me. And if it becomes a trend, it'll probably be one I ignore. I prefer to eat cauliflower as opposed to wearing it. 😂 Pepto Bismol Barbie. It wouldn't surprise me. You're not deep into the makeup world like I am, but there are weird combinations out there: ketchup lip gloss, salami face masks.... so Pepto Bismol Barbie would almost seem normal at this point. 😂 Thank you so much for cheering me on during this Adagio Beauty journey. You're so right: the "quick hit" of getting something new and shiny can very quickly lead to a crash and the urge to look for something else as a pick-me-up. I think it's the difference between dopamine and serotonin. The dopamine comes from the purchase. The package arrival. Receiving the new thing. But dopamine is a hormone that always demands more, a button that constantly wants to be pushed. Serotonin is more mellow. It's not a rush, or a high, it's just a feeling of satisfaction. And that's what comes from using and enjoying what I have. The more I enjoy what I have, the more "mellow happy" I am. The result is that my cravings for new goodies naturally decrease, because I don't feel the need for a sudden high. So a good kind of negative feedback cycle? I know next to nothing about brains and hormones, so I'm probably just talking nonsense. 😂 The Internet has made socializing weird, hasn't it? We often see Internet personalities more often than friends or family, just because they post all the time. Navigating this world and all the influencing is a strange task. Yeah... the day I spend 68 dollars on ONE eyeshadow is definitely the day I have given up hope for the future and have just thrown my finances to the wind. Or I'm really rich. I hope it's the latter. 😂
@TheStyleStumbler Scars are good reminders of decisions made in the past that should help us be wiser. Even if we forget the lessons at times. I suppose the pink deludge is a good thing if you're a fan of the color, so yay for those people and having more options this year. I am not deep into the makeup world, but I have seen some weird things. The Dr. Suess themed eyeshadow palettes I saw at Target come to mind. I've also noticed how, in recent years, the depth and breadth of pop culture product tie-ins have become compared to when I was younger. So a Barbie branded pepto bottle wouldn't surprise me in the least. I'm happy to be your cheerleader. Though I'm not going to wear a special outfit to do it. 😂 My knowledge of neuro science is also limited, but you are onto something with the dopamine vs serotonin idea. And that deeper sustained feeling is definitely the goal. And that mellow happy deep satisfaction is what I was thinking of when I mentioned curating your lself. It's knowing what you have that gives you deep, long-lasting happy contentment. 😊 Socializing in general is weird. Throw the internet in, and it's even more so. Though I'm probably not the best to speak on this. I'm more comfortable opening up to people I know only online than I am to family and people I see in person. There is that thing that I've seen in certain fan communities that people can take the seeming connection because of likes and responses to a post too far and read too much into it. I will admit to having momentary thoughts when I've been down to cashing out my retirement account and just using that as spending money. Otherwise I'd have to wait to win the lottery to make some of the purchases I'd like to.
I have very fair skin like yours- my new Chanel eyeshadow is getting returned... I don't think its very noticeable on fair skin- it's beautiful on tones any deeper than fair.
i also am more partial to pmg holiday than most but agree that i’d only get the face palette on super mega seduction fantasy sale or whatever she will call the 40% off holiday sale in January lol
I'm sure there will be some crazy discount in January. And by then, the desire may have faded anyway. I'm fickle like that. ;-) It's great to see you, Cam!
I love these discussions you have with yourself😅 And I really like those colourful looks you've done on your Instagram! I wasn't aware that you had an Instagram, so thanks for the tip😊
I'm getting very good at talking to myself. 🤣 Thank you for the compliments on the colorful looks! They're a bit out of my comfort zone, but they sure are fun!
I got that metallust palette you mentioned, on sale, for 30something eur, and while its good, can i say i have colourpop products that i love more??? :/
I have a feeling blue will not continue. When I was out on the town today I noticed quite a lot of pink (not a color I would expect as we move into fall). So maybe surprisingly springy colors? Do you have any inklings?
The thing about Huda Beauty is her package is cheap. I have one of her pallets and its falling off of the hing. Shouldn't happen when you fork over a fortune.
I can see that... I have her Mercury Retrograde palette and that hinge is very weak. Although I borrowed my friend's Rose Quartz palette for a while and that one seemed better. Just out of curosity: which one(s) do you have?
Hello beautiful Stephanie 🎉🎉Your voice is so soothing 🎉And I love the adagio word you use for your concept. Love from Greece 🇬🇷 ❤🎉❤( edit sooo many people complain about mold growing in Patrick Ta eyeshadow palettes soo fast, so hmm no I'm not interested neither do I wanna risk it)
Eleni! It's lovely to see you. I've seen those complaints about mold in the Patrick Ta Eyeshadow palettes too! I guess I've been lucky with mine, since it still seems to be fine.
"this year's holiday global warming theme"😂 I don't keep up with luxury brands so I didn't even notice the floral/pastel makeup trend. I heard that winter florals are a fashion trend this year, so maybe that's were the inspiration is coming from. To me it seems like grey, greige and cobalt blue are trendy right now. Considering your skintone, I think Huda Pretty Grunge would work better. Midi Xenon looked mostly true grey with a few pops of blue grey and brownish grey in all the swatches I've seen so far. But personally I think anyone with a decently sized makeup collection can probably achieve a black smokey eye. Even if you don't have a gunmetal shimmer, topping a matte black (or otherwise deepest matte) with any topper will probably give a similar effect (especially if you're considering the Groundwork Palette). Or you could get a single or small smokey black palette to create the same effect.
There's a lot of wisdom in your words, Pia. Now that I've seen several reviews of the Xenon palette, it looks like it leans too blue on me. At least based on the pictures I've seen, the Huda palette would be the wiser choice. But you're right: anyone with a decently sized makeup collection can achieve a black smokey eye. And I often do what you suggested. My favorite combo for my gunmetal smokey eye consists of shades from several palettes and a topper. If the Huda palette is what I *think* it is, then that would be a great solution for when I'm on the road. But I think I'll have to watch some reviews first. If winter florals are in, then that would explain the pastel makeup trend amongst the luxury brands. Other than those brands, I've seen a lot of grey, greige and cobalt blue, too. Cool tones are finally having their time in the sun.
New subscriber, great video. We both watch the same channels haha. I have oily, hooded eyelids too. Forget the TF lip oil. Cheri voyage also says it is not worth it. The quad is too average and the forbidden pink quad is much better.

Waxing poetic about colored dirt for a half an hour? Yeah, I'd say that's pretty slow. 😂
@@TheStyleStumbler LoL, true but I still like the beauty behind the take. Cue the song: "You're so vain you probably think this song is about you ". Oh wait it is 😃
@@tostoday Haha! THAT is a great song.
Cosmic Smurf Stephanie 😂🤣😂🤣
I might be an outlier in this opinion, but Bravo and massive kudos to you for successfully talking yourself out of release you mentioned.
At least I learned something. ;-)
The whole "extra decision-tree" issue with LE packaging never even occurred to me, but you're so right!
Yeah... cauliflower eyelids just don't seem appealing to me. And if it becomes a trend, it'll probably be one I ignore. I prefer to eat cauliflower as opposed to wearing it. 😂
Pepto Bismol Barbie. It wouldn't surprise me. You're not deep into the makeup world like I am, but there are weird combinations out there: ketchup lip gloss, salami face masks.... so Pepto Bismol Barbie would almost seem normal at this point. 😂
Thank you so much for cheering me on during this Adagio Beauty journey. 😂
The Internet has made socializing weird, hasn't it?
My knowledge of neuro science is also limited, but you are onto something with the dopamine vs serotonin idea. And that deeper sustained feeling is definitely the goal. And that mellow happy deep satisfaction is what I was thinking of when I mentioned curating your lself. It's knowing what you have that gives you deep, long-lasting happy contentment. 😊
Socializing in general is weird.
Thanks for letting me know! That takes away the FOMO. :-D
i also am more partial to pmg holiday than most but agree that i’d only get the face palette on super mega seduction fantasy sale or whatever she will call the 40% off holiday sale in January lol
I do my best to talk myself out of pretty things. Sometimes my best just isn't good enough 🤷♀️
I think we all know that feeling. 😉
I got that metallust palette you mentioned, on sale, for 30something eur, and while its good, can i say i have colourpop products that i love more??? :/
Thank you so much for letting me know! That definitely helps with the FOMO.
What do we think this holiday theme in color and textures will be? Things were blue heavy but will that continue?
@@TheStyleStumbler thank God. ♥︎♥︎ beautiful video as always btw ♥︎
@@eleniminas7742 thank you! ♥︎
"this year's holiday global warming theme"😂
I don't keep up with luxury brands so I didn't even notice the floral/pastel makeup trend.
It's great to have you here, Esther! Thanks for the tips on the TF products - it makes it easier to stick to my anti-haul decisions. ;-)
Why am I on this website?!?!😂😂😂😂
The Internet is a dangerous place for makeup lovers! 😂😂😂😂
