How does one develop a sense of style? And how can we do it sustainably - both financially and environmentally? By enjoying and creatively using what we already have. By streamlining those things with thoughtful declutters. By developing awareness of how we use our stuff to encourage wiser decisions about the cosmetics, clothing and any other items we purchase. I’m 71 with combo skin and I’ve been using Calecim products for 8 months since I saw Desi Stark rave about the line on her UA-cam channel. I mix the pink serum with the multi purpose cream and it’s the first product I put on at night. It has softened the lines on my neck and face and gives me the luminosity that was talked about. I also use the multi cream in the morning. Right now Calecim is having a good sale and SkinBeautifulRX has some good sales too on the products throughout the year.

    I don't like the way my hair feels with hairspray, either. Like you, I too have thin hair, and it won't hold curl. I don't have 2 to 4 hours before work or going to the store, something to have my hair dry. Does it really take that long to dry?

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler 14 годин тому

      It doesn’t have to take that long. But I find that the wetter my hair is when I put it in the curlers, the better the curls stay. I have something that attaches to my hair dryer (it looks like this: amzn.to/4gN83Lc) and that speeds the process up dramatically without getting the hair too tangled. I just don’t use it all that often because I have to stay in one place while it’s on -I feel like it’s a more productive use of my time to let my hair air dry. But I also have the luxury of a job where I can wear rollers and no one cares.

      The 200 is more of a neutral quad with one pop of reddish pink. I think you *might* be looking for the 400 quad, which has a lilac hue. I don’t do it every day, just when I want my hair to look bigger. If I use rollers and air dry my hair, it’s about 15-20 minutes of active styling, and about 4 hours of passive drying time while I work or run errands. If I want to speed up the drying process I can sit under my portable hub for 20-30 minutes. I don’t usually do that though, because I can be more productive if I just let my hair air dry.

    • @TheStyleStumbler

      I think it comes down to personal preference, what you’ll use most often, and what you already have. Over Brun is straight-up neutral, while Gueliz Dream is a more colorful take on neutral (due to that pop of pink). I find that both are very wearable. If you already have a lot of neutrals, Gueliz Dream might be fun to add some variation. I‘d be interested to know what you ultimately choose!

    Ever heard about volume powder? I used to buy the Super Dust Volume and texture powder by L'Oréal. Then, however, I found out that the professional hair products supplier round the corner has her own brand which is much cheaper 😃 It does the trick as well as the more expensive powder. Use with caution and sprinkle it only thinly, since it can matt your hair. I myself like to gently rub it onto the roots and then brush out my hair so it gets evenly distributed. Makes a real difference!

      This is a great tip! I have a volume powder in my travel bag. This has inspired me to break it out again. But you're right: thin application is key. I think I originally stopped using it because it was so easy to over-do, especially when I'm frazzled and in a hurry.

    This is a great video. Very helpful for me with baby fine and thin hair! However, I don't think I'll use a hair topper because I find that they are very difficult to match my bio hair and to put on. Thank you for the useful tips.

      Thank you for taking a moment to let me know you thought it was helpful. I completely understand how hard it can be to find a topper that matches - I have been looking for a good match for several friends and family, and it hasn't been easy.

    I always have "black friday wishlists" going in my notes, but by the time BF actually arrives, i only look for what id use and find on a nice sale and pick some. I wanted the brown pop by CT since last year, and now i also wanted still at the club by patrick ta. One got sold out and the decision was made for me. 😂

      @TheStyleStumbler 12 днів тому

      Well that makes it easy! The market made your choice for you! Which one eventually sold out? (I've been trying not to look - I don't want to needlessly tempt myself. 😂) Have you received your purchase yet? And is it what you hoped it would be?

    I love this! Could you help me find an eyeshadow that has more longevity? Especially for a black and dark brown, everything I have fades quick (I got the 500, also from other brands)😅 I like cool tones and hate glitter. I was thinking with buying the over noir and the 200, but I’m afraid it wouldn’t last too!

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler 12 днів тому

      I'll do my best! ;-) If the formula of hte 500 quad doesn't work for you, I would avoid the other palettes, because the formulas are very similar and will give you the same issues. My first question is: do you use an eyeshadow primer? I have oily, deep-set, hooded eyes, and the only way ANY eyeshadow will stay on me is usually with a primer. Different formulas work for different people, depending on their body chemistry. I've had the most success with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. As for eyeshadows with the most longevity: the Lancome Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palettes work extremely well for me. And most of them don't have any glitter (I believe only the "Smokey Chic" one does) so they may be a better match for you than the YSL quads. I hope that helps!

    I'm sorry to have to tell you this but you will ruin your hair in the long run it might not show now when you're young but just wait. You use plastic combs etc and various methods that will destroy your hair in the long run. Check this out you are at risk of developing this because of how you treat your hair ’Trichorrhexis nodosa’.

    I've loved and still use Jack Black products (my husband does too) since I worked in a Men's Department at Nordstrom and was gifted a lip balm by a vendor back in 2014. They are amazing! I'm surprised more women haven't discovered Jack Black.

      @@TheStyleStumbler Not gonna lie, I'm beoming obsessed with their Dragon Ice. Also, thank you for your foundation sermon on the mount in whichever video it was in. I think I was possibly on the verge of letting Chantecaille Future Skin and my Chanel foundation get long in the tooth or expire trying to finish an incorrect, old Double Wear Maximum Coverage foundation one of my former coworkers accidentally sold me! 2003 expired. They have expiration dates on all makeup

    • @TheStyleStumbler
      @TheStyleStumbler 12 днів тому

      Makeup certainly does expire. But I regularly disinfect it, wash my brushes, and store everything in such a way that it tends to last much longer than the official expiration date. (Although I admit: 2003 was definitely pushing it. ;-) Once something starts to smell off, stop working, noticeably change, separate in the component, or irritate my skin - even in the slightest, that's when I'll throw it away.

    I am 58 yo, always had very fine hair. It actually started falling out two years ago. My Kinesiologist suggested I take blackseed oil everyday 1 tspn in orange juice. My hair is now three times thicker. I rarely miss a day taking blackseed oil. My daughter was shocked how much thicker my hair is now, I even have regrowth on the sides of my fringe/bangs hairline. I don’t need volumizer products anymore more but I do spray a detangler in. O&M know knott. Also I changed shampoo and conditioner to EverEscents the moisturizer cinnamon & patchouli one works best for me. I color my own hair now, it takes 10 mins onto dry hair before I shower. It called Nova Hair, I use it every 4-6 weeks…brilliant products! I never thought I’d have thicker hair, well it’s not thicker just way more hair now. Super happy with the changes I made. Btw I shampoo and conditioner my hair daily, it never feels like it builds up. I hope my journey helps someone.

    My shoulder length hair isn’t thin but I have a lot less hair due to aging. I also swim 5 days a week. I wear swim cap and wash my hair once a week. I don’t blow dry and use only a bit of hair serum. I put my hair in two braids after washing. The next day I have curly hair.
