Tatiana writes the lyrics in Russian and then translates that into English. Her inspirations were Brittney Spears and Gwen Stefani and then she heard Otep and wanted to learn to scream. She practiced by screaming into her pillow and passing trains. She wanted to not sound so female and started listening to Randy Blythe from Lamb of God to hone her growling prowess. I discovered Jinjer when I watched this video in 2019. I was not shocked that she was a female with harsh vocals (I have been a long time Arch Enemy fan) but I was very impressed at how good she was vocally, both clean and harsh. I was also very impressed by her lyrics to Pisces. I have seen Jinjer live twice, the most recent a few months ago in San Antonio. I purchased the VIP Experience because they limited the number of people at 15. For the 15 of us, Jinjer performed a 2 song mini concert. The second song was Pisces. I will never forget standing right in front of Tatiana on the rail, no more than 5 feet away, while she sang Pisces. After the mini concert, they invited the 15 of us on stage to meet them. I was able to have a 15 or 20 minute conversation with Tatiana, including walking with her from the stage back to the lobby of the venue for the autograph and picture session. Although I could tell that meeting a group of fans was a bit outside her comfort zone, she was very gracious to everyone. They all struck me as down-to-earth, good people who greatly appreciate their fans. Yes, I realized in editing I should have looked at the lyrics. I am a Pisces myself and can relate to some of these lyrics for sure. I will be sure to do that in all future Jinjer reactions.
@@TheRealMommaOG I got to see them in concert in December of 2021 and it was definitely a raucous event. I thought I'd be the oldest attendee (60+) that night but was surprised at other folks of my generation who were present. So yeah, you'll want to see them performing at a live venue. Love your channel!
It's jinjer time, and i'm here for that this band doesn't have any bad songs. Just some you will like more than others. This rabbit hole is epic . Looking forward to watching your journey through this amazing band. Perennial live, add vacan spelled wackin. It's a German music festival. Should be your next one. After that, whatever you decide you want to do, it's your channel. Have fun with it. My favorite songs, our Outlander and cloud factory off of the cloud factory album. This is going to be fun.
This is my favorite song by Jinjer. Tatiana's abilities are beyond amazing. Her clean vocals melt me! Jinjer fans love watching reactors react to Tati's growls! Such fun. This song will grow on you. These false chord growls don't hurt your voice if you do it correctly because it doesn't involve the vocal folds! Try Judgement and Punishment live vocal performance. The band is so good! She doesn't have a strong accent. Love her clean toss off there at the end.
😂 lol the algebra was a great touch. I'm a bit fascinated with the lyrics of this song. Anytime mythology spills out of a song like that I get a bit fascinated. The Greeks had such a treasure trove of old stories and pulled from cultures that were even old to them.
That is one of the great jump scares in all of rock! It never gets old seeing people respond for the first time to Tati's singing. There is so much to say, but let me recommend the following songs: Who is Gonna Be the One, Teacher Teacher, Perennial and the phenomenal Judgement and Punishment (one take over the backing music), plus Someone's Daughter. BTW, Tati has a heavy Ukrainian accent when she speaks, but you cannot tell from this clip.
So glad you liked it. Not for everyone, that's sure. The vocalist is possibly the best harsh/clean vocalist around right now. The rest of the band are exceptional players too. Back before they got popular, they used most of their promotional budget to make the "I Speak Astronomy" OMV (it's excellent) but no-one took much interest in it. On a shoestring they recorded "Pisces" with their new drummer, Vladi. They posted it to YT on a Friday and by the following Monday it had gone viral. They didn't expect it and never thought it was going to be a hugely successful track. I suggest "Judgement (& Punishment) live one-take performance" and "Perennial live at Wacken" if you want a live one next. If you want their latest OMV, "Green Serpent" is beautiful, as is "Someone's Daughter", both from the upcoming album "Du'el". Good luck! Hard to go wrong with Jinjer.
Wonderful reaction, Momma. Welcome to the fantastic journey that is Jinjer. 4 virtuosi musicians that create enthralling music. Except for Vlad, the band is self taught, with Tati developing her unique voice all by experimentation. Vlad is originally a classical pianist, and went to guitar before transitioning to drums. I've seen them 4 times now live, and they are fantastic on the stage, with Tati being absolutely magnetic. Brilliant songwriting, and Tati's lyrics are rich and deep. You mention the political struggle that they are a part of. Their song "Home Back" is the most direct commentary in their catalog, and is worth checking out. They have put out 4 singles from the new album so far, and they are fantastic. "Someone's Daughter" was the first, and a good place to start.
welcome to the Jinjer family! thanx for your emotional reaction and if you want you can look forward to some beautiful moments with Jinjer....... maybe next: JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) | Napalm Records Lovely greetings from the german musician > subbed
The band fled to western Ukraine in 2014 when the Russian-backed civil war broke out. When Russia attacked the entire Ukraine in 2022, they were in Kiev and helped defend the city on the civilian side. Because no men were allowed to leave the country because of the general mobilization, they went on tour with special permission and collected money for Ukraine. Reaction videos to this song never get old ;-) When you growl, you protect your vocal cords because you don't use them. You use the false vocal cords in front of them, which you use to clear your throat. The band now plays death prog metal with djent. I don't know of any other band that does such a combination. One of the current singles: JINJER - Someone's Daughter (Official Video) | Napalm Records The latest live video from Tati: Spiritbox - Circle With Me ft. Tatiana Shmayluk of Jinjer - Live from Louder Than Life 2024 Back then, the accent when singing was well trained, but was still clearly audible when speaking. Tati now lives in the USA and her American accent has also improved when speaking.
I had to smile at you uttering "shit" when the music ended. My utterance at that point was "Holy Shit". Obviously it is Tatiana's vocals that grabs everybody, but the band are all really skilled and awed me as well.
Welcome to Jinjer. I agree with many of the people here. "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 would be an excellent follow up reaction. Great reaction. (Subbed)
It's actually not done with the vocal chords (unless she chooses to add to the sound with her vocal chords) it's done with a structure on top of the vocal chords called the false chords. The false chords extend over the actual vocal chords to help keep food from going down the wrong way. Singers who learn this technique learn to control those otherwise involuntary muscles to make sound. It's not pitched like what comes from true vocal folds it's actually a broad band noise but because the two structures are stacked on top of one another she can use her mouth, teeth and tongue to shape the sound in the same way she would if she was singing. Singers skilled at the technique can switch back and forth from one to the other fairly easily. Singers highly skilled in the technique can use both at the same time if they like. Tatiana is one of the best in the world at it currently. When speaking she does have a pretty thick Slavic accent. The Jinjer rabbit hole is pretty long. Some highlights Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 (a good second video) Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal Green Serpent music video (their newest song) Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv Outlander Official Live at Loudfest Tatiana's collaboration with Spiritbox on their song Circle With Me Live at the Louder Than Life festival I Speak Astronomy music video Wallflower music video Teacher Teacher music video
THANK YOU for that amazing info and song suggestions. I've added every one of them to my list. I haven't heard anything from Spiritbox either - but have heard of them through the reaction world too. Should I check them out separately?
@@TheRealMommaOG They have a few new songs out as well. Not sure when their new album comes out but you would probably like them as well. Also I forgot to add one detail about Tatiana. She is from the city of Horlivka Ukraine (Russian name Gorlivka) which is a few kilometers behind Russian lines. Her mother stayed behind there when Tatiana fled to western Ukraine so Tatiana hasn't seen her mother in many years (just spoken to her on the phone). The band fled the fighting in 2014.
@@coder4liberty WOW. I know of that city. Near Kramatorsk and Bakhmut. Heavy, heavy fighting in that whole region. Yikes. I hope her mother has gotten to safety by now. The entire city of Bakhmut (like many others in the region) was completely destroyed. Thank you for the info.
I would like to recommend you follow this up with I Speak Astronomy and for an extra amazing double act, Spiritbox - Circle With Me ft. Tatiana Shmayluk
I have never opened a video so fast! LOL I actually rewatched this a couple of days ago, wondering if you would ever do this one, and here it is. Please let me introduce you to The Charismatic Voice, a youtube channel that does vocal analysis of videos (a slightly different subgenre of the reaction genre), but she has a video called The Science of Vocal Distortion, where they actually put a scope down the throat and wire electrodes into all the important muscle, and do an MRI while singing, to analyze exactly how these sounds are produced. She just funded a kickstarter where she is going to repeat this research on as many as 6 more vocalists, one of whom is Tati. It's a 1 hour 10 minute video, but it is utterly fascinating, and I highly recommend you check it out! And of course, amazing reaction! :)
Thank you. I'm quite familiar with TCV - I've used her reactions in several of my reaction compilations on my other channel ( @WonderMommaOG ). I missed that video so definitely will check it out. Also - cue "I am clairvoyant" Golden Girls gif. 😅🤣

Awesome reaction. I like the mathematic equations. It definitely does not compute.lol I think you should check out Arch enemy, another band of a similar style.🤘
There's a lot of great bands out there that I don't hear any reactors talking about Siouxsie and the Banshees (Peek a Boo, Israel, Spellbound) Joy Division (She's Lost Control Again, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Transmission) Bauhaus (Bela Lugosi's Dead, Dark Entries, She's In Parties)
Thank you. I added those to my list with the exception of "Love Will Tear Us Apart". I became familiar with that song after watching the movie "Control" several years ago. I've heard of Siouxsie and the Banshees and have always been curious!
Yes you do want to see them live, but you can't go wrong. Any choice of a live perfomance is a good one it is just that one is a little heavier then the next. If you get a chance go see them live yourself. Enjoy!
Ha ha! It's a bit of a WTF moment this one isn't it? Tatiana does have a pretty heavy Ukrainian accent when she is speaking - much more so than when she's singing. Great band. Another great reaction.
'Jinjer - Who is gonna be the one' it's the first live under Napalm Records umbrella. the fest was in ukraine and they wasn't famous out of the country. even with the low budget fest, the sound is unmatched! most viewers ask 'Jinjer - Perrenial at Wacken' but Wacken fest is the most sponsored metal fest on earth. have fun with them (Napalm Records doesn't block reactions)
this is def one of my fav hobbies...watching reactor first time hearing Tati...about your question of vocal cords...another reactor The Charismatic Voice does a series of video putting a camera down Will Ramos from Lorna Shore throat to show people e how the sounds are made in the throat
Ah yes. The never ending saga of souls stolen by the great Tati and hung on the wall in her very large trophy room where she sits and smiles softly while sipping her morning smoothie.
I personally wish that people, particularly reactors to Jinjer and other bands like Nightwish, would save the research for after the initial reaction. Where’s the mystery when you know the band genre, and especially if you happen to happen to uncover Tatiana’s vocal style? I’ve seen reactors Google her and find out that she uses a vocal style of scream and growl, and at that point, they already know what to expect and are not at all surprised when it hits. The nature of suggestions for videos like this are intentionally ambiguous for that reason. I personally hope this trend of finding out everything you can about a band before a blind reaction, dies out soon.
I understand what you're saying. Some prefer the completely blind reactions then others prefer the reactor do a bit of research before listening. Like music itself, reaction preferences are subjective. Before I started reacting to music myself, I spent a couple years making first time reaction compilations on my other channel. After watching hundreds and hundreds of reactions, I thought I had a pretty good idea of made the "perfect" reaction video. I actually had compiled a list - I was going to make a video on the subject. I'm glad I didn't. lol My list went to sh*t when I got on the other side of the camera. 😅 It's not as easy as it looks to get everything right... especially for everyone watching. I get praise and criticism for the same things, depending on the person.
@ Thank you for caring and for taking the time to explain your side. Perhaps meeting somewhere in the middle. Where if you feel you want to educate yourself, you were to ready only the first paragraph. “Jinjer is a Ukrainian band, that formed in _ _ _ _ and its members are…” That way you know the band, the singers name, and there is still more to discover through the video. Just a suggestion. My opinion is only mine alone, and is based off of, in this case, the hundreds of Jinjer reactions and the like that I’ve seen over the years. At the end of the day, it’s your channel, and you have to do what’s right for you. You were sweet, thank you.
@@Nicholas_Burmeister He is referring to Yukina of the Japanese band Hanabie. I saw Hanabie open for Jinjer a few months ago in San Antonio. I am a big fan of Yukina and she has great harsh vocals. However, she is not greater than Tatiana because nobody is.

The growls are grounded in the throat singing technique which is used around the world.
Welcome to Jinjer!
Finally, someone removed the damn Metalcore from their Wikipedia page and updated the history section with bits from their original bio! 👏👏👏👏👏
Welcome to this amazing band,
I want to recommend you:
Perennial- live at Wacken
Thank you. I will add those to the ever growing list. They sound like they will be kleenex material?
@@TheRealMommaOG At the very least, they produce copious goosebumps.
This is just the tippy tippy top of the Jinjer Ice burg. Othe good Jinjer songs? ALL OF THEM!!! MORE JINJER!!!!! ❤🤍💙
welcome to the Jinjer family!
thanx for your emotional reaction and if you want you can look forward to some beautiful moments with Jinjer.......
maybe next: JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) | Napalm Records
Lovely greetings from the german musician > subbed
Thank you and welcome! I excited about this journey!
Oh Momma what have you done?? Now you will be hooked on Tati for life!
Subbed just to watch take the journey down this rabbit hole!!! Once the shock wears off you’ll be amazed at how talented this band is!!!
One of the current singles:
JINJER - Someone's Daughter (Official Video) | Napalm Records
The latest live video from Tati:
Spiritbox - Circle With Me ft. Tatiana Shmayluk of Jinjer - Live from Louder Than Life 2024
Back then, the accent when singing was well trained, but was still clearly audible when speaking.
(Subbed)
Thank you and welcome!
for a live reaction you definitely need to check out Perennial - live at Wacken :D
Some highlights

@@TheRealMommaOG TCV also has a 90 minute interview with tati from 2021
always the same funny thing happening: ah, lovely voice - break - picking up the jaw from the floor - processing the moment.
i can reccomend the belgian band brutus, very unique setup, fantastic sound and a surprise.
sugar dragon live in ghent. marvellous song
Dang my original comment vanished!!?? My other favorites;
WHO IS GONNA BE THE ONE 💕 Live in Wacken.
TEACHER TEACHER official video and the one take vocals, JUDGEMENT (And Punishment). Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸
reactions on Pisces never get bored
Awesome reaction. I like the mathematic equations. It definitely does not compute.lol I think you should check out Arch enemy, another band of a similar style.🤘
Just go with Tatiana, Roman, Eugene and Vlad… the surnames are a challenge!
There's a lot of great bands out there that I don't hear any reactors talking about
Siouxsie and the Banshees (Peek a Boo, Israel, Spellbound)
Joy Division (She's Lost Control Again, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Transmission)
Bauhaus (Bela Lugosi's Dead, Dark Entries, She's In Parties)
Thank you. I added those to my list with the exception of "Love Will Tear Us Apart". I became familiar with that song after watching the movie "Control" several years ago. I've heard of Siouxsie and the Banshees and have always been curious!
This is the shocker vid..or is it!!😵💫
Yes you do want to see them live, but you can't go wrong. Any choice of a live perfomance is a good one it is just that one is a little heavier then the next. If you get a chance go see them live yourself. Enjoy!
This band actually plays very heavy music. I don't know if it's for you. But they have some pretty melodic stuff, even though it's heavy.
I love metal music. The heavier the better!
Ha ha! It's a bit of a WTF moment this one isn't it? Tatiana does have a pretty heavy Ukrainian accent when she is speaking - much more so than when she's singing. Great band. Another great reaction.
'Jinjer - Who is gonna be the one'
it's the first live under Napalm Records umbrella.
the fest was in ukraine and they wasn't famous out of the country.
even with the low budget fest, the sound is unmatched!
most viewers ask 'Jinjer - Perrenial at Wacken'
but Wacken fest is the most sponsored metal fest on earth.
have fun with them
(Napalm Records doesn't block reactions)
this is def one of my fav hobbies...watching reactor first time hearing Tati...about your question of vocal cords...another reactor The Charismatic Voice does a series of video putting a camera down Will Ramos from Lorna Shore throat to show people e how the sounds are made in the throat
Appreciate your reaction as it is my brother's favourite band. I am waiting for Aurora's metal album myself, though
👀Aurora is doing a metal album? 👀
She promised to do so after her recent collaboration with Bring me the Horizon. Glastonbury interview😊
@ OMG - I truly hope she does. I'm going to have to check that collab out. Didn't know about that either. Thanks for the info!
A fantastic song from the new album Duel is Green Serpent! ua-cam.com/video/637ER6dlGDg/v-deo.htmlsi=BVEzodQvY0T7S9cy
💖
check out the song circle with me live w/ tati from jinjer, it will blow your mind
Ah yes. The never ending saga of souls stolen by the great Tati and hung on the wall in her very large trophy room where she sits and smiles softly while sipping her morning smoothie.
Have you checked out jinjer " whos gonna be the one" live? Id love to see your reaction! Ty
🤯😜🤘
😂😂😂😂
Go ahead and watch them live, tatiana is the real deal !😅
The fact that she switches from harsh vocals to cleans is that she does it seamlessly and her clean vocals are quite beautiful 😍
She is not hurting or using her vocal cords
“Jinjer is a Ukrainian band, that formed in _ _ _ _ and its members are…”
That way you know the band, the singers name, and there is still more to discover through the video. Just a suggestion.
My opinion is only mine alone, and is based off of, in this case, the hundreds of Jinjer reactions and the like that I’ve seen over the years. At the end of the day, it’s your channel, and you have to do what’s right for you. You were sweet, thank you.
Teacher teacher..vortex..
Live u want judgement and punishment
When the war in Ukraine started, their home, they all volunteered. They were told to continue touring and support the cause.
It's funny to me how there are still reactors discovering this video and band. They have so much more to their catalog than this song though.
Floor makes that same growl but manly when she was with her former band Revamp
another Ukrainian music band with charming female vocals ua-cam.com/video/GghXFl1cWQg/v-deo.html
Yukina > Tatiana . Fite me !
Who?
@@Nicholas_Burmeister He is referring to Yukina of the Japanese band Hanabie. I saw Hanabie open for Jinjer a few months ago in San Antonio. I am a big fan of Yukina and she has great harsh vocals. However, she is not greater than Tatiana because nobody is.
Completely respect your view of Yukina being better. This stuff is subjective so I get it. I can't comment as I haven't heard Hananbie yet. Perhaps another rabbit hole I need to go into!
@@TheRealMommaOG My introduction to Hanabie was the music video for their song We Love Sweets. It is probably the most common music video for first time reactors and it has 3.3 million views (deservedly so) - ua-cam.com/video/G18yyvPCiTM/v-deo.html
their late stuff is mostly crap
Art is subjective. You are allowed to be wrong.
@@paulriddle7818 UA-cam views prove I'm right. Nobody listens to their latest stuff because there's no groove or melody, the songs don't hook you because they're just exercises for developing instrumental technique. Writing a complex passage is easy, AI can do it in a couple of seconds, but writing a simple, catchy melody is very hard. You can just look at the list of songs recommended to people who are first reacting to Pisces and try to find something there after "Macro".
Not a fan of it? I get it. Music is highly subjective. I'm only one song deep - so it will be interesting to hear it.
@@TheRealMommaOG I've been a huge Jinjer fan for 8 years. They are very talented guys. I just think their last two albums have gone in the wrong direction musically. But in terms of technique and sound quality, they are among the best.
Follow the advices in the comments regarding future reactions, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. There's something worth listening to there.
