i’m with you Phil you get it brotha . As someone who has lost addicts and still have recovering addicts as friends it very hard to hear still almost 30 years later. I never forget one friend telling me he never stopped wanting heroin and blow as he wanted everyday. Everyday is a struggle and why i never did drugs seeing all these examples . Cheers and regard
8:40 yeah this guy has watched reaction videos to this song and read the comment section before. The comment he made is in the comment section of EVERY reaction video to this song.
Anyone with knowledge of his story could easily make that statement without stealing it, you dbag, lol. He literally mentioned that they have looked into the band's history in the past, as they typically do with their reactions. It's not some deep conclusion that few would come to express, ffs.
Layne was incredibly "Heroin Sick" when this performance happened. There is a reason he is wearing gloves, because track marks would have been visible between his fingers. Still, Layne being so sick, HE SOMEHOW MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE GREATEST MTV Unplugged PERFORMANCE, OF ALL TIME! RIP Layne!
you gotta listen to Down in a Hole Unplugged, its amazing....The whole Unplugged set is great. oh BTW even if I didn't know Phil's name was Phil...He totally looks like a Phil
The writing on the base players guitar says "friends don't let friends get haircuts". This was in response to all four members of Metallica cutting off their long hair.
"Friends don't let friends get friends haircuts", in reference to that popular 90s sitcom. All four members of Metallica were in attendance for this performance, all sans long hair, a new look for their "Load" album.
Hey guys!👋 Loving your reactions as usual.👌 Just to clarify, that's Laynes falsetto vocal that Sam may have mistaken for someone else's backing vocal. Layne was truly, and unfortunately, so tragically one of a kind.🧡
Please stop recycling other people's comments. Every reaction to this song, there is some "person" that has to say this. It's not even true, nor does it make sense.
The talent.. to be THIS awesome in a live acoustic setting... and being ( from what I've read) that he was door sick( withdrawals earlier in the day.. just mind blowing.
You weren't harping on the negatives, knowing what you know about Layne, it would be next to impossible not to mention some of his issues after watching this. And you're right, it's as if Layne is singing at his own funeral, some of us have stated that for years. I owned this VHS tape back in the 90's, I was a big AIC fan, but this video, notably this song, this is now a tough watch. Good reaction you two, always enjoy the transparency you both bring.
I love all.of AIC songs, and yes you can feel.his pain, as you said, BUT at anytime, he could of got help for his addiction, and really worked hard with it, cause he had a beautiful voice, and its such a waste of life.
I was lucky enough to see their final show here in KC with Kiss. Kiss sucked but AIC was my new favorite group. The show was awesome. Layne went on to OD after the show. It was hard to believe how good he still sounded that night. RIP Layne
Dude was hardcore awesome i miss this dude man thinking about it gets hard to breath you know ? God Bless you all and remember Jesus Loves you and he wants you here on earth until it is your time and we all love you think about us when you are thinking about yourself !
It's hard listening to it. I remember in the day this was popular in my circles and people would this is a metaphor for this and that and I kept looking at the lyrics thinking it really he is being upfront about struggling with addiction. And after you listen again and realize how alone he felt. Just sorrowful as the sound itself is.
You need to react to We Are the World 25 for Haiti. It is a remake of the original with more current artists and was done 25 years after the original. ua-cam.com/video/Glny4jSciVI/v-deo.htmlsi=6Tr7nLMZZXLWPrRz
I think AIC is the best of the Grung era, 2. Soundgarden, 3. Pearl Jam, 4.Nirvana, i think Nirvana is good, but definitely not the sound and voices of AIC
Hi from UK ... Can you please review a song called love don't live here anymore by rolls Royce the singer is called gwen dicky I be every so greatful thanku ..
Down in a hole from this same concert is a must see.
I agree! "Got Me Wrong" from this concert as well.
The whole concert is a must
Layne Staley lives within his fans ..A songwriter of unparalleled talent , he will be missed .
I cannot watch this without crying my eyes out. Such a huge tragedy to lose so major of a talent
Him singing River Of Deceit with Mad Season is also haunting
So good!
A review of either River of Deceit or Wake Up would be fantastic.
The AIC Unplugged was the best thing MTV ever aired.
The ring on that bass cuts thru so well in this performance
I like how you both let the music play. Not interrupting every minute.
What a performance 🥲👏👏👏
the higher vocals was Layne. He had a great range.
This is one of the best live shows ever. Next you should check out "Down in a Hole" from this same concert.

He had two feet in the grave when he sang this. The brightest candles always burn out the fastest.
RIP Layne.🙏😪
A shell of a man here ,he was just falling into a casket at this point,so sad ,but what a beautiful voice!!
Not accurate

The reason the comment is made so much for the most part is because it describes exactly how it makes a lot of people feel..
Same show do DOWN IN A HOLE 🤘🇺🇲🇺🇲🤘

The man was made of music.
Tears every time!
Grunge was such a dark period for music. Spoke to souls looking to leave.
I beautiful talent, tortured soul. Was lucky enough to witness the amazing voice live. Sorely missed

My favorite band of the era, love them. Used to jam them in my truck in my teen days. RIP Layne.
I have been listening to music for over 55 years and I can say only two bands exist that I like 95% of their songs. Led Zeppelin and Alice In Chains.
This was like him singing at his own funeral

Yes….it was not long afterwards that he died. He was so addicted they worked hard to get him ready for this. He did great.
He died 6 years after this, but was very reclusive.
Do yourselves a favor, and listen to the studio version of this song. Absolute masterpiece.

I love Alice In Chains so much !!!
Layne 🤘 RIP🤘🔥
Epic song Layne was the best out of all the grunge singers
Rips at your heartstrings 😢
💔😞 You really should react to the whole Alice in chains MTV unplugged
Magic
I would forget about John Mellencamp as well.
FYI guys! First time they played together in 14 years at this concert
No not 14 years. Closer to 14 months
It's so sad coz you can tell how far gone he already was here. 😔 6:00 You read him perfectly. Hope y'all watch more besides this Unplugged gig.

The funeral thing is some common idea that we all have watching the Unplugged, him expression said all, great lost to music
Not background vocals. That's Layne.... Best ever unplugged... ever...
Greg Sage while not considered grunge influenced a lot of the northwest grunge bands. Over The Edge live is a good example.
I mean, he chose to open the show with this
When i was a kid and i heard 1 song from a new band that i liked? I would buy the album? Too bad they don't do that anymore?
Dude was hardcore awesome i miss this dude man thinking about it gets hard to breath you know ? God Bless you all and remember Jesus Loves you and he wants you here on earth until it is your time and we all love you think about us when you are thinking about yourself !
I don’t usually like to watch anything from this show. Only because it’s so heartbreaking to see 😢
Great performance, but I rarely go back to it because it's just too painful. 😢

Please react to love to love by UfO a great rock dong from the 70’s great guitar and kind of a haunting sound
There were no background vocals. That was all Layne.
In a nutshell? Maybe?

2PAC, i like some of his music but im an average fan, just saying, 2pac sang about early death. Rap has evolved and id only say sang in a few cases.
Yeah, no... there are no backing vocals. That's all Layne.
I'd love to hear you guys review Change or Mouthful of Cavities by Blind Melon
I think AIC is the best of the Grung era, 2. Soundgarden, 3. Pearl Jam, 4.Nirvana, i think Nirvana is good, but definitely not the sound and voices of AIC
