- It’s time for an almighty Germany vs. China electric car showdown!
We’ve got our hands on the Human Horizons HiPhi Z & HiPhi X, and they’re going up against the Porsche Taycan GTS and BMW iX M60! The question is, which is the quickest? Well, let’s take a look at the stats.
Starting with the HiPhi Z, it comes equipped with two electric motors that can put down 672hp and 820Nm. All that power means it’s pretty heavy, mind, coming in at 2,539kg, and it costs around £90,000.
Alongside it we have the Porsche Taycan GTS. It also comes with two electric motors, but it’s down on power compared to the HiPhi, able to produce 598hp and 850Nm of torque. It’s the lightest car here, at 2,310kg, but it’s also more expensive than the HiPhi Z, coming in at around £111,000.
Then we get to the SUVs. Starting with the HiPhi X, it comes with two electric motors that can produce 598hp and 820Nm. It tips the scales at 2,580kg, and it has a price tag of around £93,000.
Then finally we come to the BMW iX M60. It’s the heaviest car here (just!) at 2,584kg, but it also has a boatload of power, with its two electric motors producing 619hp and 1,100Nm! But not only is it the heaviest, it’s also the most expensive, costing around £123,000!
So will China come out on top? Or will it be a clean sweep for the Germans? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

I’m not sure if everyone noticed but carwow has been slowly transitioning to having cameras in every car and I appreciate that. Not too long ago we only had cameras only for special guests like Yianni, whereas Nick, Sam, Rory and others, could only be heard on the radio.

Because electric motors are CONSIDERABLY more efficient than an engine. Efficiency for an ICE is around 20%-25%. Efficiency for a battery motors is around 80%. Now let’s look at how long the ICE has been around for and the fact that those efficiency figures are still terrible, even after 100 odd years of development, and then how long EV’s have been around for. Won’t be long before EV’s are at 90%, trust me!

@@peedeegt What amazing technology? the inverters used has been around main stream since the 90s. the 3 phase motor since the 1800. the rest is just stacking upp a crazy amout off battery cells to make high voltage. slap a cheap 10inch touch screen and your done. What bothers me most is the stupid high weights of todays car. We are at over 1000kg more than 15 years ago for the norm car. It's going backwards

Due to me living in China and working in the trading business and some customers bought Chinese cars i had to test drive a lot of them and to be completely honest i was shocked they have very good and very reliable cars and they are relatively cheaper than other competitors
A lot of them burn to the ground too !!
Given their disastrous construction industry with 1000s of children dying in concrete tofu schools, I dunno if I trust them to build cars any better…
Those cars are 20 grand cheaper in China as well and there are plenty of other with similar performance they could have chosen that are another 20 grand cheaper.

He should have discovered it earlier because everyone had figured their settings but he failed to do it.
The fault is the car brand that have a obligation to make a car performance setting simple like steering wheel button or something like that. If they complicate they deserve be seen bad in the clip, old cars don't have this complicated shit

It‘s not actually a speed limiter. The electric motors just reached their max rpm. The chinese carswould need a longer gear ratio to go faster. But then they won‘t accelerate so quickly any more.
The chinese cars just have a shorter gear ratio. Good for pulling, not for speed.
@@Patrick_Schaefer given the traffic condition and highway speed cameras in china, for most cars it's virtually meaningless going above 144km (120kmh speed limit + 20% buffer), that's why cars are built and tuned that way to have stronger accelerations but weaker at the top end. The same principle applies to European/American/Japanese cars being sold in China as well.

I guess the reason for the Chinese cars get passed by the German cars at high speed is that China does not have autobahn. The speed limit is pretty low.

Next time try to test Chinese newly released ev car, the ZEEKER 001 FR with quad motors and 1260 hp. Hope to see that in your vid. But the price should be closer to Taycan GTS.

The 2 Chinese cars were 15%-20% cheaper than the 2 German ones, I think the Chinese ones actually won overall, if price should be taken into consideration. Also the first few tests the 3rd car wasn't even in the best speed option chosen till later...
The HIFI also more focused on luxury in the cabin which makes the vehicle much heavier.
I think they just chose the wrong car! Very few people in China are actually buying this Hiphi. Popular Sedans are Xpeng P7i, Nio ET5 Touring. And SUVs are Xpeng G9, G6. Nio Es6,7 and EC6 etc

I think that when you show the stats of those electric dysons the main info we need to see is the battery capacity. I mean it is easy to have the lighter car if you put the smaller battery (or the other way around).

HiPhi Z and X are very much a Technological Wonder. Sound System Technology, etc. Driving this EV will turn Heads every where. BMW and Taycan design are controversial as "Hate it or Love it " design.
I'm pretty impressed with the Chinese cars, they are +- the same as German cars, but probably with more "nice-to-have"s for less money
Hiphi is not even a wellknown car brand. Only these cars, regarding mobility: Germany 100, then china maybe 80. Regarding connectivity, multimedia and assistant system, Chinese cars are way better.

That Porsche Taycan GTS is a beauty! I like how experimental the HiPhi's are - but not too sure on the design!
Love these videos and the way the channel is going....but Matt you have to start using your "Specialist timing gear" for the brake tests, no way on earth the taycan loses this in a fair fight, it's just too difficult to guarantee everyone brakes exactly at the line. Keep it up!

If the speed limiter is unlocked, it's hard to say who wins. HIFI is not very well-known in China, and it is unfair to compete with Porsche and BMW.
