That is what happens when you let 'designers' do everything and practicality gets completely lost. This is a huge issue in pretty much anything these days.. I've got Bosch oven designed by someone who has never stepped into a kitchen.
I'm probably part of the last generation of people that found buttons in cars so satisfying and easy to use. Now, you have to take go through like 5 different menus just to access one feature that would you would press a button for.
Buttons, dials, levers etc perform an important safety function. You instinctively learn where they are and don't need to take your attention away from the road. They also unambiguously do something and provide a positive response to that effect. While there are things that can be pushed into the infotainment system there are red line items that should never be - wipers, volume, aircon, indicators, headlights, full/dipped beam, cruise control and some other stuff. And neither should they be replaced with haptic style buttons. Unfortunately some manufacturers, especially Tesla don't know when to stop and their cars are actually dangerous from it - witness the Model 3 which relegates wiper speeds to the dashboard which has caused crashes, or the new Model S that has a ridiculous flight yoke style steering wheel. But even the likes of VW are using junk haptic controls and for the life of me I don't get it.
Well, looking at it logically, for some functions, physical buttons are superior. For instance, climate control… thos digital buttons are not tactile and are very distracting.

I like this guy’s commentary very funny well done 😂👍
Hmmm... If I can hear it, I'm sure I'll find it funny too
That ambient light is next level 👌🏻 💯
Agree
Makes the Mercedes ambient lighting look tacky
Love how BMW went for the crystal look and royal colours
Mercedes ambient lighting reminds me of a cheap strip club
Well said sir. Couldn't have said it better

I didn't expect I would say that but frozen black looks really cool like batmobile 🔥 19:45
Welcome back to The States Matt! Always enjoy your videos! The new 7 is so controversially designed that I love it. Thanks again…
10:38 I understand that it's just a joke, however as an engineer I am screaming.
The quality of the video is insane this is my favorite channel by far keep it up ❤❤❤

Best car I've seen this year !
Oh god - I am always changing the adaptive cruise distance setting as needed in traffic. If I'm in heavy traffic where I don't want people constantly cutting in, I change it to the nearest setting. If I'm in a 2-lane road I select a further distance. And depending on exterior conditions, I adjust from there as I deem rational for safe driving. Literally multiple times per drive. Changing the setting in the infotainment center would drive me nuts.
I love the design of the i7, particularly this i7.
I've also changed my mind on the kidney grille of the M3 / M4, as long as it's blacked out.
The grille on this seems wider though. It doesn't look like it's got buckteeth.
@@TheJohnboyhunter True. There are some cracking aftermarket mods for the slimmer kidney grille on the M cars.
I have a company car as it stands, but a few years down the line I'll be buying an M3, so those aftermarket mods will come in handy.
@@IanD-ut4dy don’t forget to get beaver (pet) as well
@@comparecards5688 😆
@@TheJohnboyhunter the i7 still is as expensive as Shelby GT500.
Honestly i actually think it looks awesome. Im impressed.
Matt there is a thing you can get for all the bottles ! It's called a' bag' !
Bmw went from ultimate driving machine to “we have the biggest tv in a car”
BMW used to have biggest grill on any car, but it comes and biggest TV😄
m5 cs, m4 csl no?
These new cars have so much ambient lighting. This feels like I’m watching an old 2002 Honda video…maybe cars like these should be reviewed inside a garage.
the front blacked out doesnt look to bad
@scorpserpent details that they didnt know actually.
If you have to black out details or a car to make it look acceptable, there’s something seriously wrong with the design of the car.
You are either blind or you are the guy who designed it.
I also prefer fabric seats over leather ones, less warm in summer and less cold in winter
Heated and ventilation seats help with that
@@poundsy7598 yes, exactly
But when it stains/gets dirty then its much harder to clean (things absorb into the fabric) unlike Leather seats.
@@theweeknd2725 agreed, fabric is lovely material, very comfortable to sit and touch but pain in the arse when you spill your coffee.
Isn't bmw offering wool seats on these?
I’m sure Matt can have a great career as a comedian if he wants to. He’s too funny. 😂
He's as dry as the dessert.. Think I've laughed at him less than a handful of times. He's good at reviews, but he's definitely not funny. Not to mention the constant segues to ads are annoying as fuck, especially when SponsorBlock is down temporarily.
@@truculenttabasco Matt is a dessert I agree. Lol
I can't tell I watch Mat's video,it's bit funny 😂
You can tell somebody spilled coffee on the blueprint
While the front styling is polarizing, this example is the best version. Dark color, hides the lower headlamps so you really notice the upper lamps. It's not hideous in this guise, but acceptable. The interior is gorgeous though
You forgot to show the illuminated grill Mat. Great cars though. Class leader in this segment.
Loving the two tone paint scheme on the 760i

@@ItsXpensive only a poor person would bring that up tbh
@@rg6982 You're kinda dumb tbh.
You have done the best review amongst many for i 7. Well done.
Must be a hard life Matt going out to California to test drive a BMW 7 series. Needing anyone to carry your bags 😀
BMW 7 Series is a right car to drive for many.
Damn BMW doing its thing💯
After 10-15 years, those hi-tech things will look primitive like a 2000's computer... A car like this never will be considered classic. And yes, a E21 from '80s are looking much better. That's my oppinion, but who cares about that...
You’re so right about that. And this stuck on screen in the front already looks like no one gave a thought about this once.
I care....I care. See what my play car is? Simplicity and will stand the test of time. The same can be said of my 2001 Miata LS. Pure bliss.
ok boomer 😂
I dread, when the cache/storage on this dumb computer systems gets exhausted and then what ???? Trade in the cars at a huge loss because you have no more memory
I was really torn on this car and wasnt really sure what to do but now that you have recommended that I buy it I will. Thanks Matt!
If you buy an i7 and find a rock thingy under the hood, now you know where it came from. 👀
I am terrified of the maintenance costs for this car 😦
if you are poor, don't get a 7.
@miyahtallulah deffo, but who’s gonna buy this after said rich person has finished with it after its three year lease/warranty?😨
Nobody will own a car, phone.... Car prices are deliberately inflated to protect residuals during the warranty period, and so we simply "pay and return". Worthless in 5 years Your only inconvenience is waiting for the loan car every month!
Probably half a million 😱🥶
@@reececollison5101 Some sucker who wants to look rich and takes on finance on car they can't afford let alone mantain.
The car looks amazing. First time I think I'd choose a 7 series over a s-class...not that I could afford either lol
I just bought the 760i. It's amazing! BMW really stepped up their game.
Matt, when you have the car for a few days or so to test out. Please focus on the details on how the car rides compared to the S580 as well to compare how the steering feel is or how much it has improved or if it has any feel at all. Thanks 🙂
Why should he? You don't buy this car (at this spec) or an S580 (at similar spec) to drive it yourself
BMW seems to make the best electric car acceleration sounds !
Bro this is insane. ❤️ 😳
That gigantic display in the rear seat is absolutely gorgeous. BMW really came fighting with the current 7 Series. Too bad the exterior is not that great but that is a small complaint.
Very nice car. People are complaining but like new M3/M4 when you see one in person you will fall in love. The 7 looks a bit like Rolls Royce tho.
М3 have big performance and big air cooled for engine. This grill for i7 look like a fake.
The thing about BMW designs is that everybody hates them first, then it starts to grow on people))
The two tone dark version looks pretty impressive. With the proper rim style and proper color, this car looks good.
This design however i instantly love, same with the new m2
Man, those extended warranty companies gonna be making a KILLING in a few years once these cars start breaking doe
Or getting killed. Likely just deny everything.
I'm sitting in the BMW dealership watching this, while I get an oil change. Seeing this car in person really changed my mind. It looks great in person. Same thing happened with the M3/M4. The inside is definitely luxurious. However, unless I have a chauffeur or the flat screen, I'd get an X5.
Same here. Was in for an oil service and saw the new 7 for the first time. God awful and ugly as hell. I couldn’t believe it. Just disgusting
It actually looks good in white and also that matte black 😭
Watching car wow is always a good way to hype up your day!
This is gonna be the dealership favorite car after the warranty ends..!!
this car is not for broke people... rich people dont care, they have enough money :D but yes you are right
@@pepsicherry6389

So time for me is more important
@@mikepatton3712 This is probably not meant to be a car for you then. These cars are owned by people who have multiple luxury cars and don't care if one of them breaks every now and again.
This car's engine is generally reliable, since BMW's major twin turbo v8 issues subsided around 2016. It's no camry but it should definitely have no problem hitting 200k+
@@newmoney3972 The engine won't be the issue. It'll be all the plastic housed sensors and the other electricals
It’s all normal the 7 series is really a high speed limousine, a limousine for VIP’s for those who need to get somewhere quickly...

@Massimo Hack shit box 😀...... intresting
@Massimo Hack and how does that make a difference? I agree that it's not a very good looking car, but I don't understand how that means it can't be compared to the direct competitor, there are many other categories that make a car a proper car, not just looks.
@Massimo Hack the M3 doesn't look that good from the front either, does that mean it shouldn't be compared to the RS5 and C63s?
not only does it compare to them, it beats them in driving dynamics and handling.
@Massimo Hack 7 Series > S class > A8
@Massimo Hack just look at the global sales s class n 7 series always beat A8 lol
I think it will fit the bill in the US as well , beast looking and monstruous , a bit like the dodge charger but more sophisticated and highly advanced .

4:06 VEJANZA... Vejanza...... Red vejanza........... So funny 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣!!!
All they had to do was make the front end look, nice. The rest of the car inside and out is either fine or great.
I don't think so, the exterior is just too bulky for a 7 series in general. Rear end is also looking too high up & bland in proportions
