Thank you Jason for your very generous sharing of your in-depth knowledge and experience. This information removes many roadblocks and frustrations toward achieving precise effect and colour in pastels. I appreciate you sharing so much of your skill and experience with us!
Thank you, Jason. What program did you use to pull the colors from the photo, so that you can compare and match?
Brilliant. I'm a newish Patreon of yours. Very very informative.
You are such an awesome teacher! I learned so much from this video. Thank you so much
thank you
Thank you once again for being so generous with your knowledge Jason.
What a master class video !!.. thank you Jason 😊
Thank you I appreciate you demonstrating the tonal and color finder charts. I pulled out several art pieces that I was struggling with and my tones were off. Now that I see the tonal values more accurately I am going to rework these pieces. Again thank you
Thank You for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience with us! You have helped me a great deal, to overcome obstacles and learn about pastels especially! They are now my favorite meduim-and yes, I also have a ton of different sets of pencils...always glad to add mnore!!!
This is really handy, I think I'm scared of stepping too far out of the mid-tones, getting there but I think this will really help! Thank you!!
Really helpful Jason. Thank you for this and the downloads.
Amazingly helpful. Explained two factors that I haven't been able to grasp. Thanks!!!
Wonderful explanation of tone vs color and tips of matching. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I love your swatch strips! Definitely going to do this. Thankyou so much.
Great tips, thank!. Perhaps add a column on swatches with fixative applied. I learned from a separate video of yours fixative darkens the pastels. Or lean toward the light side when color matching to compensate for fixative.
Thank you Jason for this indepth demonstration. I'm looking forward to swatching all my colours. It's just perfect!
Gracias por compartir su talento , DONDE PUEDO COSEGUIR LAS TABLAS DE VALORES MUCHAS GRACIAS!! SOY DE ARGENTINA.

Hy Jason, this is hat I call a great lesson. Ideale appreciate this video you made for us. I do have a value card and strangely enough I never use it, I also find the tip of the levels in photoshop very valuable. thank you very much for this. By the way, thank you so much that we can print out your examples like the color matcher. 🙏👍
my pleasure
Thank you so much, it is very Helpful
I purchased Panpastels in black and white with colorless blender. I need to print a value scale. How do I get one? Maybe you explain it further in the video. Thank you. New Patreon.
I have lots more videos on patreon. See art tips collection etc
Excellent...very useful
I suppose this is all very useful information if one is trying to faithfully copy an image.
Very very helpful, thanks💕
Hello Jason, I have already learned a lot of things from you, but I still have a question, because if I have found the matched color and put it on gray matte photo paper, the color is different than on white paper, how do I solve this again? Can you help me with this please? Greetings from Julia from the Netherlands ps… finally after years I do understand the value scale and can work with it … thanks to you 🙏
Sometimes I print out a black and white photo of my image to look for tonal range. Caran d’Ache has a color pencil mixing board for blending , somewhere I use that and apply with applicator tip or small DaVinci stencil brushes. Are those gray scale print outs available for Patreon members? These are very helpful tips! Thank you so much!
please see text under video.
I have no problem with the tonal range. All I do is get a dark brown, a med brown, a light brown. Do the same for the other colors too and that fixed this problem for me.
It's similar to using a 2b, hb, and 2h pencil for pencil drawing.
Simple and my eyes can see what tone it has to be.
There are a lot of artists with this problem.
Thank You =)
Hi, what is the name of the program you are using on your computer ?
How do colour swatch your pan pastels with such few colours?
Jason...how do you replace pencils when they are finished? Do you buy set or individual pencil?

Your color chart is impossible to find, what a good trick to make you go to your website and force you to subscribe.
I find it very strange that I can do over 600 free videos including this 40 min one, to help people and I get the occasional comment thinking I am tricking people.
The link to the file is literally at the top of the description below the video.
And even if you couldnt find the link, why not just ask me nicely in the comment?
