Thanks for giving this interview more visibility. I've been impressed with Newsome's recent interviews. He seems to keep an open mind while trying to approach the issues with humanity. We need more politicians on both sides of the aisle to talk like this.

Context: I’m liberal, live in CA, and work for the state of CA. The scientists labor union has been out of contract under his administration since 2020. He claims to value science but does NOT value scientists.
SEIU (another union) asked for salary raises this cycle and better working conditions, and the State of CA said, and I quote, “not interested” at the bargaining table.
Workers like me are dying with inflation.
I’ve soured on Newsom unfortunately. I wish he was better for his own state workers.
State workers have a no strike clause in CA law even if our contract expires and the government can force a “best and last offer contract on us” even if we did strike.

I’ve never seen my governor be interviewed and I’m impressed. I have always voted for Mr Newsom and always will. He’s doing an amazing job with our state.
Tons of taxpayer dollars have gone to solving the homeless situation in this country. The problem is that most of the money goes to bloated salaries of Administrators and the funds being diverted to their buddies, the same contractors and developers who get all the contracts. Same holds true to the thrift store industry like Goodwill which is now privately owned with a CEO who's salary is beyond belief. Very little goes towards the cause and most is eaten up by overpaid people in charge. The corruption in this country goes beyond belief!

Conservative here, Newson is an extremely well spoken politician. He doesn't gravitate to talking points and has a unifying tone. If I didn't fundamentally disagree on his policies I would absolutely vote for him. I'd love to see him square off in long form conversations with Conservative politicians. Lot's of good to be had.
As an Armenian, most of my family lives in Glendale. That's not unique in America if you're Armenian. The misinformation and disinformation that they've been fed is ludicrous! We're a pretty conservative culture, and my family genuinely believes that kids are being forced to become gay or trans by their teachers. This is where we are now with all the hate and propaganda going around. I always tell them this. Did anyone teach you to be straight, or did you just know deep inside in a subconscious way that you were attracted to the opposite sex. No one can teach attraction. Gay people have been forced to be straight in a hostile society for as long as civilization has existed, and obviously, it didn't work because that's not how attraction works. Just like no one can pray the gay away. No one can pray for you to be straight. That's NOT how attraction works! That argument does hold a lot of water, and I suggest everyone use it when they're in the same position.

Newsom has the same principals as Jerry Brown he just has a different style. Brown was the best Governor we ever had. In fact, he came back for another term, he really created a good place for Newsom to land. Most people were meh or neutral about Newsom. But after seeing him in more interviews, people are starting to feel okay, this guy isn't a complete idiot. May not agree 100%, but at least he is well informed and can have a civil discussion.
