I suspect he was moved by the broad themes Newsom spoke about concerning the divisive rhetoric flung about these days as well as the policies that some GOP office holders and officials have put in place intended to suppress voting by extreme gerrymandering and restrictive requirements and suppress history they find inconvenient by banning certain books in schools and developing white-washed school curriculums. It is deeply disturbing to the majority of Americans. All DeSantis does is complain, ridicule and pick fights. He’s the antithesis of a leader.

Gavin had the public schools shutdown for a long time. The people whomcouldnt afford private tutors or school lost years in education. No time to learn about the history of the US.
Children should always be the priority. If you are elderly or sickly and you say kids should be prevented from going to school because you may be hurt, you're a horrible person.

He runs a state with more people living in it than Canada, it's a lot and overall, I think he did the best he could fairly successfully.

Gavin knows how to play the game. That is why I voted for him. Do I agree with everything he does and says? No. He acts in the best interest of the state of California. That is why I voted for him. He is human. Imperfect. He has made mistakes and instead of running from them he embraces them and acknowledges them. A lot of times he comes off as a snake oil salesman but if he says he is going to do something...he does it. He owns his actions. He is not afraid to make that leap. He puts himself out there and he takes risks. I cannot say it enough, he owns his actions whether the reaction is positive or negative. He allows us to be ourselves and fights for our right to be who we are.

Prop 13 here discourages people from selling their homes and keeps their property values when it comes to tax a homeowner who lives here has no incentive to let anyone else build here it keeps their values high and lessens traffic. There have been pushes to change the law but It's not just as simple as one guy. Local counties, cities all have their say too as well at the voters here in California.

I had the pleasure of watching Gov. Newsom speak at the Texas Tribune Festival last year and, just like in this interview, he spoke with endearing candor and grandeur. He not only has a grasp of the issues, he also cares! I just hope he runs for president in 2028 or next year (if Pres. Biden doesn't run).

@Viser I would suggest you have a skewed Fox News vision of California in general given that we are the largest by far population state in the country we have our share problems but we also a vast natural beauty the greatest diversity of any state in the country we have the greatest economy of any state in the country and people are also moving to California in great numbers as well as moving away It's true I would venture to say that a lot of the people who have moved away regret their choice quite quickly when they realize that they're up against a lot of other things. Yes it's cheaper to live in Texas but yes you live in a much more polluted environment and you live without a lot of public services that people in California come to expect and deserve. So there are goods and bad sides to California but we are leading the country in terms of the environment. We are leaning the country in terms of the economy. And we are not doing so bad in other factors as well like education, infrastructure etc.
Then why are so many citizens of California fleeing the state?
Biden himself has called Trump and his supporters “enemies of the State”. What has he done to protect America from its enemies? Zero. We need someone who will fight for America. Gavin is that man.
He will be president one day and I can't wait for this country to experience his leadership life Californians have.
