I was laid off once for no cause and the company tried their best to do it just one or two days before I had been there a year. I was at home sick and they actually called me to ask that I come into work while sick....so they could fire me. Of course, I found this extremely strange to be asked to come in while sick so I did not go. Once I returned, I was let go. Companies are cruel. NEVER trust you are safe. NEVER trust any other employees.

I know it's a lot to take in as younger person. I'm 45, I've been laid off a few times, flat out fired a couple times. After a few times you get pretty cynical about it unfortunately. I'm a director myself, I make good money, have a nice career, get along with my coworkers. But I'm not mistaken by any means, I know if I were to get fired tomorrow NONE of my coworkers are paying my bills. No one is coming to put clothes on my kids backs. A year or so later I probably won't even remember half their names or recognize them at a store. I make friends outside of work. I never let my job be WHO I am either. If I get fired tomorrow I'm not crushed because my entire identity is wrapped into being with them. It's just a place I go to to make money so I can live my real life when I'm not there. That's it.

I got laid off at june ever since then, I implemented a detailed budgeting strategy, tracking every expense and setting clear spending limits across all categories. In just six months, I saved over $60,000, giving me a strong sense of financial security and the ability to invest in my future. This approach has transformed the way I manage money, and I now feel more confident than ever about achieving my long-term goals.

If you are looking for "genuine connections" in the workplace, you are barking up the wrong tree. Some companies have endless "team-building" exercises to make you love your colleagues more than your family. Don't fall for it. It is a paycheck...nothing more. Work friends is an oxymoron. It is neither good nor bad, it just is. Know this, and get on with your life.

There may be a variety of reasons behind a lay-off or firing. The company may be doing poorly financially. It is happening. A new manager may want to bring in someone from their circle. You may be ousted by some not-so-nice co-workers. Most importantly...do not take it personally...although it may be personal, in some instances. Collect unemployment, revise your resume...and start the hunt. Take a breath. Look forward to a New Beginning!

Kiddo, I work from one lay off to the next. That's why I'm building a liferaft with youtube and writing novels. Once I build that big enough, lay offs won't really matter. Find your side hustles (yes, more than one). It's your insurance policy against these things.

I had a lot of prior knowledge about what I discussed in this video, but this was my first time experiencing it firsthand. That experience gave me a completely new perspective, which I felt compelled to share with others who might be going through something similar for the first time. This video wasn’t created with the intent to educate, it’s more of a snapshot of my thoughts in the moment.
Do you ever take the time to reflect on the current state of the world? It’s fascinating how many unexpected thoughts can surface when you do. Thankfully, our minds are incredibly forgiving, allowing us to revisit and rethink things from fresh perspectives.

20+ year techie. I've been laid off once from a big corporate last year who wanted to save money and I've been fired twice from startups, once early in my career because I messed a deployment that cost them some investment and the second time much much further in my career clashing with the CEO multiple times over technical decisions. I am in it for the long run so you learn to just get a roughneck and just roll with the punches. You become desensitised to it.

  • @zibomacadangdang108

I think you became complacent and comfortable in corporate and now disillusioned. You lost your way and forgot what and why. First, you get a 9 to 5 because you need the money to live in our system. Unless you are a trust fund baby, where will you get money to pay for your existence? In our system, you need to work x number of years to feed into a pension fund and social security so by age 65 you can stop finally working. If you want insulation from bring layed off, target and settle for a government job. Corporate jobs are all unstable because they move based on profit and losses. Or get a skill or profession that is necessary where you want to live, so you make money by yourself and be your own system. Relationships and friends are sustained by money. If you and your coworkers are layed off, who pays for the beer? Rent or mortgage. Its that simple. No money, no honey. I got laid off, too. I also got disillusioned. I don't want to work in the corporate system and get layed off again. It is heartbreaking to lose your job. Its like being expelled from family. I didn't get a job again. Instead, I build my own system. I dont work for money. I make money work for me. Instead of me working for a corporation to make them money. I make a corporation work for me to make me money. I don't work 9 to 5. I think 24/7.

It just means, never get too comfortable with whatever your situation is… life has a way of throwing curb balls at you. Once you understand that everything in life has a start and eventually an end, makes it easier.
Economically, the US isn’t doing well. Many layoffs and “restructurings” are happening because the economy is sick. The Federal Reserve kept interest rates too high for too long, these companies run on debt. And the Fed making interest rates high is cutting into profits, EBITA, and other corporate metrics that the company needs to hit,
If sales are down it’s because people & businesses aren’t buying products, then they have to lay people off. Why are people not buying??? Because people can’t afford anything because interest rates are high, higher interest rates affect everything we do in this country.
it’s all a vicious cycle. The Jobs report for October 2024 was abysmal at only 12,000 jobs added for the month.
We’re entering into scary times, but this debt based system that the United States has is going come to an end. It cannot go on like this anymore. People need to get ready for what’s coming next. Economic depression.

LOL. Welcome to adulthood young lady. It happens to many, many people and it has for dozens of decades. It's called being a grown up and having to pay your own bills and navigating difficult times, and I'm NOT knocking you; it's life. It's happened to me more than once and quite literally when I was probably twice your age while I had a family. You get used to the concept of having to perform some sort of labor for legal tender for goods and services to pay for life. No one is going to pay you for staying home, and no one should. The whole Bernie and Liz (BOTH multi millionaires, I might add) concept of socialism has never worked in the history of the world, and when people bring up the Nordic countries, they conveniently leave out the one hundred percent sales tax on goods and services and the eighty to ninety percent income tax which is prevalent there. Don't even bring Canada up because I used to work for a Canadian company and it's a train wreck up there. Just adhere to the way it is here because it's the best you'll get in the world. Trust me; I'm an old guy now and have been around a bit. Once you have a few more years of adulthood and maturity under your belt, you'll understand.

Explain to me why everyone under 40 has it in their head that they have to "have a purpose" or "be inspired" at a job. A job/work is a simple exchange: your time and skills for money. Making it ANY more complicated than that is idiotic. All you people are doing are setting yourselves up for being miserable because you expect life to up here, when in reality, life isnt about that. This is why I mock people cause you all convinced yourselves of a fantasy and its biting you in the ass. Grow up folks. You're not kids anymore.

My advice is unlikely to be helpful... but think of the free time component of being laid off is an illusion. The difference now is that you have to work without compensation. And you have to live on a student budget. Now you can study AWS exams, Salesforce exams, Actuarial exams, Bar exams, Series 7 exams, CFA exams. You choose. Alternatively, start small with courses at Udemy. Or look into extended education. Or prepare for a Masters. Or if you are a musician build a repertoire. Or start a UA-cam channel and supplement that with tutoring college students. Its a golden age. Mastering OBS video editing would give you a skill as useful as reading and writing. OBS will be around for a long time. Exercising is very good. The hard part is paying your room and board. You might have to live off of credit cards at first. Become a library rat. You're still a ways off from going on Social security for basic income. First step is to get a goal. And after that estimate how long it will take to achieve it.

Oh you’re marked. Don’t have kids or involve yourself in heavy karma(shopping excessively, not volunteering, not donating old clothes to people, etc.), it’s like only living and being a consumer, things like this happen to people and unfortunately, too many people do nothing outside of tending to their lives, which getting fired is the same energy back to you. It’s a selfish energy. Only thing I can think to warn you of, to not be involved in the warfare going on outside going forward. Peace ❤️

You have such a naive perspetctive. When you start a business and have to run a business, you will find you have to make tough decisions. It's ok you are super youmg and have a idealistic perspective.
The fact you expect a relationship or connection beyond the professional is amazing to me! You are like a kid who thinks Santa is real/
Listen: most jobs should be 2yr, max 3. You should always be using your current job to step up to a higher paying job. You can think that the God took that job away from you. But if you really investigated, the company just had to make cuts. Why don't you ask your boss to write a recommendation letter.
If you know it feels dumb - why do it!? Why!? You already know you're gonna regret it.

working a corporate job isn’t the only way to show effort or build a meaningful career. me not wanting to work a corporate job isn’t about avoiding hard work. in fact, it’s quite the opposite. i’d rather put my energy into work that aligns with my values and feels fulfilling than climb a ladder just to prove i can work as hard as a man. my career choices are about staying true to myself and channeling my hard work into something meaningful. i believe this should open up a larger conversation about how the corporate system needs to be addressed for everyone, not just men or just women. this was never a topic of gender.

you know what people that get laid off don't say? that they worked hard. and that they love their job. it's always something else. meanwhile, people that want to work cannot get even a simple "no".
