    Yet another beautifully filmed session. Love the gilthead bream and the sand smelt - beautiful fishes.
    I've been on the local canals and have started on the perch on light gear. Nice to get out there and catch something again.

    Well done Dan! Really enjoy your content and the way you make it look so easy. Can’t wait to see the next 4 species!

      Thank you Scott. Means a lot. Like I said in the video. Trust the process. I spent last year trying to figure it out and soon realised the smaller you fish the more you catch. A tiny piece of gulp will out-fish a big section. Fish small. Trust the process.

    Another great video dan, i reckon you'll manage 61 species this year but even if you don't 56 is an amazing achievement

    • @LRFandHRF
      @LRFandHRF  Рік тому +1

      Cheers. Quite confident of hitting 60. Couldn't end on 61. That would mean pushing for 65 haha

    Congratulations on the Gilthead bream and 56 is some achievement

      Thanks Mike. Was worth the effort for sure. The 56 has just crept up over the year. I hadn't really targeted anything since April. But knowing Gilts were possible I'm now going to push to 60.

    Thanks Dan, great session, I was wondering if you had tried Newtons Cove not far from where you are, lots of lovely rock marks to play on, well worth a look. Not had a session like that since I lived there.

      You're welcome Alan. I've never fished it. I've only ever fished Swanage and Weymouth around that area. Also Chesil but won't mention that here haha

      @@LRFandHRF i had a couple of squid; which is what i went for.
      It was VERY busy- as word soon gets around when they come in.
      Still very early for them as the water temp is still very warm

    Another relaxing video with a great background town and harbour.
    Im actually traveling 4 hours to fish there next Mon and tues.
    Predicted strong wind Monday,and lesser tue but a few showers.
    Only done 2 sessions lrfing actually last week in Tenerife caught a Maderian rock fish apparently venemous and a cuckoo wrasse.
    Was 30 Deg and a struggle but loved it.
    Any tips to best use my time ie piers,inner harbour bit of spoon fishing off the beach.
    Any guidance would be appreciated!

      Glad you enjoyed it. I'll be honest. I've only fished Weymouth 4 tines so not the best person to ask really. The Black Bream are right of the end of stone pier and love a very slow sinking SMALL bait on a split shot. Other than that it's just fill ya boots in the harbour with 10 million black gobies. Enjoy. Let me know how it goes

      Wow that's amazing. Well done. Be careful though. It's a slippery slope haha. A lot of the saltwater techniques transfer well into Freshwater too.

    If you break off your leader do you keep re tying or could you just use a very small swivel? And would it be much of a difference if you did?

    • @LRFandHRF
      @LRFandHRF  Рік тому

      I just tie the leader with an albreit knot. Takes seconds to re-tie. I personally keep the rig as simple as possible. Just a hook and weight.

      And what is the braided main line you use called?

    • @LRFandHRF
      @LRFandHRF  Рік тому

      I use Major Craft Dangan 6lb

    • @allalongthewatchtower_4851
      @allalongthewatchtower_4851 Рік тому +1

      I’ve looked at that braid, but have Diawa J braid x8 which is a thinner diameter, why do so many lrfers go with the dangram when it is a slightly larger diameter?

    • @LRFandHRF
      @LRFandHRF  Рік тому

      It all snags and snaps the same. I remember buying some 50 quid braid when I started. Cast no better. Same amount of snap offs. But hurt a lot more snapping off expensive braid. The amount I fish, I'm happy replacing dangan as its not the most expensive. Personal preference. Each to their own though
