A Channel and Instagram page dedicated to My LRF and HRF Fishing here in the UK.
These are simply "fish-along" videos with a few hints and tips sprinkled in.
Also sharing the surroundings of the marks so you know what to expect if you fish them.
Cinematic is my style, I'm not here to talk and be on camera. Just love to fish and share what I see and do.
Hopefully, you enjoy it too.

Episode 06: My 2024 LRF Species Hunt - Exmouth
Got those whiting into gujons in a light batter chips and garden peas fit for a king.
I wish I ate fish but not a fan funnily enough. Have tried whiting though and it's my favourite if I had to have one.
In recent years I’ve had a few Baillon’s from Weymouth. The most I’ve had is three in a day. You can see them on the thread Phi Robson species hunt under Talk Sea Fishing and World Sea Fishing in the 2024 species hunt areas.
Very nice. I normal head to Swanage once a year to tick them off but knew they were at Weymouth. Just never been lucky enough to find one until this visit
Great work. 👍
Thank you
Another awesome video. On my last LRF outing to Gordon's Bay, Cape Town I caught 6 species in the wind and rain. Got a Cape Gurnard and an evil eyed puffer-fish... That was really awesome. i am finding that the Berkley Gulp Earthworm works really well here.
Thank you. That's amazing! I bet you haven't even scratched the surface of what's out there. If you can get hold of Gulp Hosomi clear camo give that a try too.
@LRFandHRF hmmmmm. will try. thanks for the heads up...
No worries. I find it outfishes everything. Nice a slim amd perfect colour
@@LRFandHRF In South Africa we can sometimes get gulp sandworm or earthworms but beyond that....LRF is not big here yet... Trying to change that
Fair play for bracing the weather Dan, its not easy threading small baits and hooks on with cccccold pinkies.
I love a challenge. But yeah. Was a bit nippy. Haha
Love Weymouth harbour - even tho I blanked when I went - lol. Such a stunning old place.
It's one of my favourite spots. But how did you blank? It's black Goby a drop there most times
@@LRFandHRF I got confused by the (double?) tides - no water in the harbour most of the day and the stone pier was windy, rough seas and snag city. Only discovered it was ok to fish the inner harbour late in the day and was beat by then - lol Still - it was a gorgeous day and will be back again.
Ah. I see. Every days a school day. You know for next time. It's one of the best places just to catch a load in a day
Another superb video. Apart from the fishing I really enjoy the actual filming - it is very professionally done and ‘tells’ the story. Your choice of music is excellent too - not intrusive and very relaxing. You caught two of my favourite species, dabs and plaice. Unfortunately when I fished for them in the 1950s our tackle was anything but light. If only we knew then what we know now how different our sport would have been.
Thanks David. Nice of you to say. I put effort into making them "watchable ". I know it doesn't suit everyone but glad you enjoyed them. Now that you know lighter is more fun you can put it into practice.

Thank you. Plenty more to come
Good video
Thank you
Another cracker. Thanks for sharing.
There is no stopping you. I like the colouring of the Tub Gurnard 👍
Possibly the prettiest fish in the UK?
Well done catching a Trigger fish. You certainly know your species. I was brought up and fished the Blackpool coast line in the 1950s and only ever saw and caught, dabs, codling, whiting, flounder, lesser weever, occasional plaice and ling, after a good ‘ blow’. Never saw a mackerel!
Thanks David. It's been a steep learning curve. 77 species in 3 years. Learning on the job haha. Dab and codling are targets in the new year when I head to Hartlepool. Did you see the plaice video from my last video from up there?
Another brilliant video a fun watch enjoyed the mix of fresh and saltwater
Thank you. The next two videos lined up to go live are one salt one Freshwater.

Have you ever tried LRF fishing with a piece of prawn tail on a micro hook?
I haven't. Lrf is purely artificial bait only really. Gulp and isome would work better anyway I think
@LRFandHRF yes, bait is like cheating 😂
100% but I would be more confident using isome nowadays. I used to Wrasse fish with ragworm. But cstch just as much with isome. It's like crack to fish. They can't get enough.
@@LRFandHRF im going to try and get my hands on some isome for christmas but ive been using these tipsy 1.2 inch lures and are brilliant at catching perch and trout!
Check out The Big Lerf Shop. @DevonLerfer on Instagram is your man for advice on tackle
wow so cool.
Thanks. Part Two will go live next week.
Great video Dan. You've had some amazing catches this year and the enjoyment they have given you really came through. Well done 👍
Cheers Steve. It's been an unreal year for catches. I'll put part two up next week. Still missing a bloody couches though haha.
Getting out later, ill let you know if they're still about 👍
Thanks Steve. Too late now though. Hopefully find one on holiday 🤞🏻
At the 4:10 mark, were you using live bait or Isome?
It's a whole piece of clear camo isome with a piece of moonglow above it to add attraction.
Nice one Dan! Enjoy your holiday mate 👍
Cheers Steve. Can't wait!
Wow, the Plaice was just incredible. What a capture mate! Looking forward to seeing you smash 2025 dude.
Thanks jake. That Plaice was a special one. Second favourite catch of the year. I'm not hunting species next year. Just fishing for fun and can't wait. Will be a ton of good sessions though hopefully
Fair enough mate that sounds like a wise idea. Fun is always the priority. Getting out and doing what you love is what it’s all about. I got my first pack of Isome in August and started taking it seriously around then, I’ve made it to 16 species so far and I’ve absolutely loved it.
Well done. Keep at it. You never know what can turn up. Not pushing the videos but if you watch the Species Hunt Playlist you can see where and when I had all 62 species. The pattern is pretty much the same every year. You'll be in 50 in no time

Well done Dan, 62 species and still 6 weeks of the year left! I’ve barely managed to fish this year myself and have blanked more often than not. Love your content, you can always rely on some excellent B roll! Keep ‘em coming Dan…
Cheers Scott. I'll be giving up very early in December as I'm off on holiday amd don't think I'll want to fish much in the cold when I'm back haha. Would be nice to hit 65 before I go. But not too worried about adding anything else now. 62 is more than I thought I'd get this year by a long way.

can you PLEASE drop a guide on how to catch a bullhead i really want to and i know i have some in my area but i dont know how to catch them
Buy some tanago hooks and attach them to a cheb then drop them around the rocks and they should come out from underneath if they are there and eat it using isome/gulp type of lures
@@Aaron-pu9gg okay will try
As Aaron said. It's basically just patiently working a tanago around every large rock. I was told once that if you're going to get one the bite is almost instant. So don't waste to much time on each rock. I must have tried s hundred rocks. The one that took was within ten seconds. Good luck. Let me know if it works

What a fantastic session. Never had a tench on lure or fly but next spring I intend to give it another go. I take it that’s not the Bridgwater and Taunton canal?
Thank you. Such a tricky catch but so rewarding. It certainly was the Taunton and Bridgewater Canal?
@ ah right, fished most of it but obviously not where you were as I didn’t recognise it. Ive mainly fished the Bridgwater side and Dunster. Keep telling myself I’ll give the Rudd a proper go one day. Does it look any deeper at the Taunton end now the C&RT have dredged it?
@Fishwish I've only ever fished the Taunton end few miles. Lovely stretch. Maunsel down to the town is full of everything.
@ I prefer that side tbh. Hopefully going to explore it a little more this winter.
Good luck. Plenty to go at

What colour metals do you rate for the gurnards ? I see you are using the palms bit arts miniature dax, what pattern is that one
I tend to stick to the more natural colours. Shirasu or wagisaki. You'll catch them on anything though really if you slowly bump them along the bottom.
