Hello all!!!
It’s frosty here in Ireland today!
Hope you are all well and happy...
For anyone concerned about charging batteries in the drawer. In Ireland we have different plugs, sockets and regulations than in other countries so it is safe.
Check out any links to other videos above in the description box! Have a magical week and thanks for watching! 🎈🌹❤️
Hello, hope you are well too ! :)
Hi this is a lovely idea, but it’s dangerous in practice. It goes against fire regulations in the UK and Ireland. Better safe than sorry
Good Moring
Here in Virginia in The United States it is 10:00 and 32 degrees
Thank you for being such a help giving people such food ideas and advice. I look forward to what you are going to.come up with this yeat
Corralling your chargers is still a good idea. If you did this in a box with a lid you could take the lid off overnight. Or replace it with a gridded lid the air can come through.
I was going to mention it. I've had items get hot randomly...
My dad taught me how to replace plugs as well. He also taught me how to use power tools, etc.. It was a great sense of empowerment. I wish all dads would teach their daughters about power tools, and all moms their sons how to cook, and sew.
It's funny cause my mom is more of the handyman, she was born in a family of 8 kids, so it was essential that her dad made sure that each kid knew how to rely on themselves if any project was needed.
Oh, my dad taught his daughters many practical life skills! Such men are missing in today's society even for young men to role model
Agree 100%
Sorry but I think boys should do what they are drawn to, which is more rugged pursuits than sewing. The Rockefellers funded 2nd wave feminism to undermine the traditional family unit for their own nefarious purposes. I used to be a feminist but not anymore. I believe traditional gender roles should be honored as much as possible. Of course everyone should have choices but pushing boys into activities that are traditionally feminine is creating weaklings among our men.
So true my dad taught me too.
Seeing how my husband was raised by his Grandmother I can nearly instantly tell when someone was raised by a Grandparent. They just have a different way about them, an old soul. Oh how I wish I could have met any of my Grandparents! We as a society have failed our kids. Giving them a soda and an iPad and telling them to go to their room is teaching and benefitting them ZERO. THANK YOU for this channel. I love it. And as always, MORE please 🤣🥰🥰
Ah what a lovely message! You are so true. Isn’t it great though that we can choose our actions and thoughts... we need more like you that have the sensitivity! 🥰🤗🪴🧚♀️
yes l agree, we can learn so much from the elderly. you could always adopt a grandparent, and listen to the stories about riding 11-12 hours in a buggy drawn by a horse.

That is so true my wife lived with her Nan on most days, and she’s learnt so much from her especially the cleaning and decluttering aspect.
She always says me Nan used to do like this so I do.
She opens all the windows daily winter or summer.
Freshen the house.
i really like that this doesn’t involve getting rid of anything to declutter, or putting it away in storage and making it less accessible. everything is still just as convenient to access when you need them, it just makes everything look better and less overwhelming.
i find tips like this much more useful than ones that talk about how to just get rid of things, since there’s a lot of things that you use and need every day but still might be overwhelming to look at !
Very important point about things still being in easy access. This is what I learnt after 3 years of off and on decluttering
What I love most about your channel is you aren’t being sponsored or trying to sell us anything. You are so lovely to listen to and so interesting. Thank you xx
Couldn’t agree more - she’s put out 4 videos which takes us a few minutes to consume but I’m sure takes her many hours to edit ❣️ appreciate her dedication and purpose!
She’s amazing isn’t she? ❤️
Ah it is so kind that you see. Loads of effort goes in but my husband and I really love doing it all!
I wouldn’t say no to a sponsorship but it is so hard to get one aligned with my principals!
you summed up what I feel. 😊🧡
@@FairylandCottage principles. There should be yarn companies , garden tours , garden supplies that mirror your belief and could be supportive. Think creatively. As a lawyer I work with startups all the time. I enjoy relaxing to your channel after coming to the countryside in Michiana from downtown Chicago.
I like the idea of baskets with a lid to keep the look clean
Also keeps dust or pets hair out!
It was like magic how my brain just relaxed when you took the candle off the tray. And many of the other moments as well. Even those of us who love a more colorful and less minimalist look can learn to have a visually relaxing home.
And as always, your soft lovely Irish voice is so soothing.
🙏♥️
I agree!
I agree! Even with different colour palettes it’s all about making the home relaxing visually.
YES, you're right ! I am from France, near Lourdes, and I do so much like this soft lovely Irish voice, as you said ! Thanks, Fairyland Cottage !
There was an era of all neutral colors that swept through the land several decades ago. One writer called it the "Oatmealization of America." That catchy name stuck in my trivia marinated brain. 😊
I love Sundays, long lie in, pancakes for breakfast and watching this channel, it`s the little things that makes the world a happier place. :)
Ah thanks! I had pancakes for breaky this morning too!!
@@FairylandCottage I made huevos rancheros yummy!
Love the charging station idea
I love having cleared counters. Easy on they eyes and less for little grandkids to get into
👍🤗💕
I agree 🤗🏡❤️
Aaaawww what a sweet thing to say 🎉
I thought I was the only one who covers the yarn in my knitting basket. I have to because of the cat!
Haha I never thought of cats unraveling all the wool!
@@FairylandCottage Dogs, and grandchildren, too!
I learned the hard way. I kept my yarn in a basket by my chair in the living room. For some reason, our dogs decided to mark the new yarn and the blanket I was making, destroying that project and the future project in waiting.
When I told my wife what your video was about this week she laughed and said.... the first thing I would have to do is get rid of my husband and dog 😂
😂 way too much clutter to have around!
Which first? The husband or the dog?
I would have to be in agreement with her on that 😊💗
Husband goes. I can deal with the dogs and cats.
Haha... you guys are real funny..... I think my wife was serious 🤠🐶
As the owner of a honkin' big woodstove I use for months at a time, I don't know if I'd want to cuddle a wicker basket up that close to the stove if you regularly get the stove up and running. I view that as a fire hazard.
I love the idea of the hidden socket. Wires are painful to the eyes and this gives me an idea how to make my house tidier. Thanks very much, as always🥰
I came here to learn decluttering tricks, and to fill my soul with the beautiful sound of your lilting Irish accent / voice. ✨💖✨
Ditto 💝
@@marg233 Me too 💜🍀
I feel the same her videos 💓
😊
Me as well!!! I've been binge watching/listening quite a bit lately, and I just love it!!! The videos are done with lovely taste, and the music is just perfect!!! I'm so thankful and grateful to have found it, a true gem here on UA-cam!!! 😌💚🍀
My reaction to notifications regarding your videos is much like that of a child awaking on Christmas morning! Unbridled excitement! You’re absolutely precious, and your authenticity is a true breath of fresh air amid a chaotic world! Thank you for bestowing peace and invaluable advice! Much love from Texas! ❤️
I’m in Oklahoma. In the US right now we are so stressed. I love to watch your videos with your calming voice and great advice on making our lives simple and calm. Thank you
I once read a detective book where the police were searching the home of the murdered woman and the comment was that she was a beige woman who lived in a beige house and had a beige life. Lol! I need color, soft muted colors, but color and pattern.
Interesting! I wonder if that was the inspiration for Eiffel 35's Blue
Sounds familiar; I think the author was Ruth Rendell.
Haha
Perhaps their favourite holiday destination is Beige In😂🤣
I like texture!
I love for everything to look tidy! I just wish everyone in my household liked for things to look tidy also!
Large expanses of bare wall can be beautiful & calming. It's maddening to me when every inch of wall space in a home is covered with pictures & decor. (But cozy little library rooms with wall to wall shelves of books & knick-nacks are wonderful. Every home should have one comfy hideaway.)
I love the idea of "threes". I'm going to play with that. Thank you!
I would have loved to meet your grandfather. He sounds like a resourceful man. Your plugs are so different from ours in America. It's interesting.
Ah thanks! He was a gentleman. Kind resourceful and honorable
@@FairylandCottage My dad does something similar, he disassembles the cable from each broken electronics (iron, hair dryer) and makes an extension cord or socket splitter out of it. We always have to ask him, if we can throw something out (i don't even live with my parents anymore), or if it's something that he can either repair or use parts of it.
Those are some pretty baskets. I’m always looking for baskets at the thrift store, but I love your big ones.
Yeah when I see I grab! Rare to find the big ones but I find some and the others I pick up in tkmaxx
Yes love those.. You can make them from cardboard boxes and twine.
What goes around, an old telephone bench now stores the recharging telephone. I am clutter certified and my furniture may be neutral but cushions and glass of yellow and cobalt blue make it feel like a painting and to me visually wonderful.
I love that!! A visual painting indeed!
Yes! Haha! I have heard them called “chatting benches.”
So beautiful and calming. I love the beige color scheme.
I had to laugh though, my apartment is such a wreck. I’m organizationally challenged.
The only suggestions I could make would be how to create more clutter LOL 😆 🤷🏼♀️
My house doesn't have a neutral palette. I reduce visual clutter, though, by using similar colors throughout my entire small home, mostly soft green, coral, and soft red. I find these colors to be soothing and uplifting at once.
Ah yes I love the use of colours to sooth and uplift!
Love all your videos. I should have said so before this. Thank you so much!
I loooove green!
Thank you for this video!,halfway through , I got some ideas for the room I’m sitting in and stopped the video and I now feel better about the room.
So many helpful ideas, Nimah. Especially for me who lives with Inattentive ADD.
I used to call myself, the queen of procrastination, before I knew about my diagnos, which I was getting to know about ,just recently, att 55 years of age... That has made me looking for strategies that work and that don't hinder me, but help me out-jokey my own brain to not stop myself from doing things... As I have Inattentive ADHD (ADD), I live with a smaller amount of DOPAMINE, wbich also make my level of energy very low and therefore I need every kind of smart Ideas to help me through my days.
You have so many great Ideas that are helpful for a lot of us, and for that I am so grateful... And your calm and peaceful vidoes and voice are perfect for a Sunday morning!💖💖💖Lots of love from Sweden 🇸🇪
I’m a first timer here. You earned yourself a sub. There were some good ideas, for example I liked the idea of putting things in baskets on your counter tops. However what really impressed me was your calm and quiet demeanour. So often, Tubers gush, or almost yell. It’s as if they think they have to be hyper to get subscribers. I enjoyed just being shown, quietly.
That's a very good idea popping the plug socket and the chargers in the draw out of sight. And yet everything's neat and tidy.
Glad the little candle found a new home.
This is my go-to comfort video. I watch it almost every week, and I’ve started using your tips.
Your grandfather would be so proud of you not wasting your plugs and everything else ❤
I'm with all the points, but I need my color! ❤️
This was my thought too, colorful patterns make me happy!
Me too!💙💚💜
In addition to its clear utility, I also nominate this for unintentional ASMR! So soothing and calming...
I was just sat earlier thinking how cluttered my house looks, I couldn’t believe it when I watched your vlog. Thank you for sharing your solutions will definitely be implementing some into my home xxx
I watched one of your past vlogs last night where you said about using ash to clean the glass for your log burner. I implemented this today and it is sparkling thank you so much for sharing xxx
If you can afford it, I would also recommend buying the baskets secondhand or from a small business / sustainable producer so you don't have to support big brand stores like Walmart where the baskets are possibly made by underpaid workers in poor working conditions.
I did the same thing with my Dad too. Funny things he taught me - never running, playing or kicking balls. He taught me to fish and to attend to my own tackle. My Dad was a prawn trawler man. Hi from Australia.
Wicker baskets are one of my favorite thrift store hunts. I do exactly the same! Same with the three things. I like to use only natural hues and materials like you, and it feels so nice ❤️
I think that cabinet is called a gossip bench. It was for a telephone, and then the “housewife” could sit in the bench and gossip on the phone. I have one without a drawer but with a little shelf from the 1920s or 1930s. Picture it with one of those standup phones with the cone to speak into, and the listening part on a cord on the side.
It sounds charming! :)
What a great visual ❤❤❤
Haha yes I got it secondhand. No one wants them anymore! I think they are great!
Love the different kinds of baskets you use. And your videos are always so peaceful and calm.
You don't even know how much I appreciated you using that old blanket to cover your stool!!! So many minimalists and frugal bloggers just get rid of EVERYTHING, and it just makes me a little sick that stuff that you paid good money for, and you know will have a use sometime, they just toss out! You have an uncluttered abode, yet still keep things. I love this, and kudos to you. P.S. I noticed at the end that you brought that candle into your bedroom, that I was afraid you'd just gotten rid of...appreciate that too. It just seems that some people's ideas of minimalism borders on waste and filling up landfills! Like, you know they aren't going to "pass on" a half-used candle, they would just toss it. I really appreciate your aesthetic.
Very inspirational with the cables. I love your cable cardigan too. Pretty snowflakes have been slowly falling all morning here. Magical wishes back to you.
Your home is so pretty and looks so peaceful. I love all the glass jars and natural wicker baskets.
Tidy and stylish. :)
Thank you for this video! I love the baskets with the lids!
I just love how creative you are. I loved the little meditation chair and what you did with it💜
Perfect video for a Sunday morning. Thank you ❤️
Could you please do a video on depression and loneliness if you have any thoughts on the matter? I deeply value your channel.
🙏💜🙏
Ah thanks! 🌹
A book that helped me was Choice Theory by DrWilliam Glasser. So much so that I have gone on to study the theory 🪴
@@FairylandCottage i also thank you for this. My daughter and I both have depression and anxiety
@@jessicacanfield5408 hope it gets better 🤍🤍🤍
Try vitamin B1 for anxiety.
Also magnesium.
Try an Epsom salts bath before bed.
And B6 for better focus if you need that.
Niacin can also help with depression.
Get outside and get some sun and fresh air daily. Nature is very calming.
If you stay busy it helps.
Fix things around your house, maintain the things you own.
There is still barter, volunteering, and making things for yourself that you need.
Learn a skill like a hobby, like:
sewing, knitting, cooking from scratch, baking sourdough bread, sprouting seeds, fermenting sauerkraut or Kim chi, making soap, making candles, creating some artwork that you like, plant a garden, grow some fresh cut flowers for flower arrangements, go foraging for local plants, learn to fish, learn to hunt. Learn carpentry and build a shelf, or chair or table or wooden toys. Learn to play an instrument, to sing, to whistle, to play the mouth harp (very tiny instrument you can just keep in your pocket.)
You can learn to cut your family's hair, how to groom a dog, how to detail a car, how to change your own oil and air filters, how to give a manicure to someone in your household.
Get all your learning curve done during the lockdowns, make your mistakes, have fun with it.
When this is all over, you can earn some money right away doing any of these things, instead of waiting for some big company to get their act together.
I’m so inspired to try these ideas. Thank you!
I am enamored with you storybook channel. This episode really played into my love for baskets and organization. You just sold me on buying more baskets! lol I love it. You're fisherman sweater is divine and I do crochet as well so I am using many of these wonderful tips and reminders.
An idea I use (and suggest to friends looking for ways to reduce visual clutter) is to have a wall of book cases. Small treasures and keepsake ornaments can be displayed in front of book spines, keeping them off other table surfaces.
I get my moment of peace from your channel every Sunday!
Absolutely love the gate and all the nature in the background.
I love the natural theme throughout your space. Lovely.
I always love watching your videos. Your home looks so cozy and warm. Even the shots taken from outside of the house, it reminds me of when I was a kid and the world was so much younger, cleaner and more peaceful.
thanks for this! I didn't know using trays makes a difference. I just assumed adding something else would be more clutter!
You go girl! Love the idea of putting the plug inside the drawer!! And good on your grandad for teachin ya 💖
Very inspiring! Thank you.
I love baskets & trays ❤️❤️ especially love when everything is neatly tucked away 😊
Thank you great ideas, looks great and so easy!
What an inspiration you are! Love your videos 😊
I’ve been decluttering as well! This is great inspiration, thank you 😊
Some great ideas here, thank you. I particularly liked the drawer for charging electricals, that's very clever!
I find watching Fairyland Cottage very calming and soothing for frayed nerves. Your home looks so peaceful with the monochromatic colors and variety of textures. Great idea about all the cords; I love to see another woman not afraid of using a drill and screwdriver! ♥️
Your voice is so calming. God bless.
I find your ideas so refreshingly practical and your voice so calming. Thank you for that !

This was such a calming video thank you. I like using large trunks and chests. They hold A LOT and are lovely to look at
Awesome ideas! Thanks!
Love it!! Thank you!
These tips were very helpful! Thank you 😊
Thank you, these were great ideas.
Great video and lots of good ideas to boot!!! Thanks very much!
I like all your ideas and do many myself. I like to use baskets and have side tables or end stands with storage. I also like to put my produce in or on cute plates or bowls. I also hate cords and love that you are recharging as far from your bedroom as you can. I have a lot of neutral tones too but I do have little splashes of color here and there, but I am putting out less decor than I used to yet still enjoying changing things up for the seasons. I like to put dish soap in a glass soap dispenser so it looks better than the plastic bottles. I keep my nail polishes and make up in baskets, so I can always put them away but not have to drag out a bunch of items. Your home feels very relaxing. Thanks for sharing.
💕Thank-you for sharing these wonderful tips with us to make our homes look neat and tidy.I'm from a small country town in Victoria,Australia 💕
Your videos always manage to calm my racing brain down and smilutaneously giving me loads of inspitation! A true gem :)
These are really helpful thank you!
Lovely video. That hack for hiding all the charging cables was excellent.
I actually think a little pop of colour does not necessarily create visual clutter. I know you like a neutral palette in your home (as I do myself) but I think colourful cushions, or a colourful throw, could still look good on your sofa.
That's called an 'accent' colour, I believe. So my living room is charcoal grey with wood/browns/taupe and my 'pop of colour' is burnt orange - cushions, candles, some dried Chinese lanterns flowers. Thing is not to overdo it!
Thank you! I am going to start today. Very inspiring . Xxx
Lovely video and wonderful ideas. Thank you so much. I always look forward to your videos.
Inspiring tips! Thank you!
Thank you! Simple but Great Advice!
