If you think that’s heaven... Jesus says we can’t even imagine what He has in store for us when we go to Real heaven. It will be ten times better than even this 😁 1 corinthians 2:9
Another thing that makes my home a sanctuary is to have objects in it that come from people who are special to me, or which bring back special memories. So on my shelf I have a little jam jar containing sea glass we collected on our honeymoon. When I'm cold, I wrap myself in a blanket crocheted by my grandmother. My candle sits on a pewter candle saucer given by a dear friend who is now far away. And many of my plants are cuttings from loved ones, some of whom are no longer alive. All these things bring good memories of the people & places they came from into my home.
On the side of my home, I made a secret garden. There are two trees which form a canopy. I went out and got old bricks from the brickyard...(free) and made a wishing well...an olde world type. I planted vines about it. I placed a spotlight on it for nightime. I sit out there and .......it is so nourishing and relaxing. I say: make those dreams come true.~~~~~~~~~
Keeping a clean home, lighting candles, decluttering, light and warmth are all incredible tips. We always forget about the small stuff 🌱 but those little things are the most important. 🌸💕
Hi, my name is Gabi,, I am 56 years old and I live with my husband and Cocker Spaniel in a small village near Vienna, Austria. I really love your videos and thank you for inspiring me to bring more simplicity and peace into my life ❤️
I am surrounded by trees for miles, curtains are open most of the time, so it looks like I am completely in nature. In my house. I have just the essentials, no television, no landlines, no microwaves, no dishwasher and such. House if full of plants. Wood floors and walls appearing more like living outside than inside. A lot of handmade items, tables, bookcase, chairs. Outside, I have homemade hoop houses, greenhouse (which is a great meditation area, as it sits in the middle of the property and I can open both doors for a view of green hills, trees and blue sky (wasn't intended for the purpose but turned out that way). I also have a swing chair in the far back with a view of miles of beautiful 100 plus year old trees, birds, squirrels, nature frolicking at any given moment, with sunsets which are truly amazing. Not sure how this all came to be, just incrementally moving one thing, building another and voila, one day it magically became my sanctuary and my home became my favorite vacation spot in the world...
Listening to birds is so peaceful. I have never used a Walkman or had earbuds on when I walked to work because I wanted to hear the birds sing. Many times I heard little pigeon chicks in their nests, so peaceful. If I had earbuds on, I would never have heard the chicks asking their mother for food. I figure, I could always listen to music later, but I can’t always hear birds singing. 💖
Yea, I'm just the opposite. I am not a big fan of bird noises, lol. If I hear that in any of my asmr's, I will turn it off quick! To me it's annoying, especially 1st thing in the morning!! Tweeting, chirping, cawing, crowing, honking, quacking,it's just too shrill.. and annoying.
@@owlthepirate5997 Psst…our love-struck local mockingbirds sing all night trying to woo a girlfriend. If it weren’t for my earplugs, I wouldn’t be able o sleep at night. It’s been going on for over a month (this is mating season apparently), and I don’t see an end in sight, sigh.
Out in the countryside of the city where I live in theres plenty of wildlife. Birds all kinds enough to birdwatch as a hobby. Theres also plenty butterflies, fireflies, bees, and flowers along w a small stream....
Lots of natural colors in the house. I have a lot of pale greens, beige, whites, pinks and creams, and window dressings that help block excessive heat from coming in,yet allow natural sunlight to flood the house. I used to have a mini fountain in the house, but the cats loved it, too much! Lol! For some familial reason, I've taken to baking. There's nothing like coming outside into the smell of freshly baked bread. All these things, plus things given to me over the years from people who mean alot help make my sanctuary a positive and calming one.🦋
I have one of those swiffer dusters, but I find myself using it for the high-up places for the most part. I'm considering returning to the towel and broom... For everything else, I also use a sock lol.
I love plants, and soft lighting, but for me it is my cat who is most important in making my home a sanctuary. Cats are such restful creatures, I find. Very conducive to a serene frame of mind.
We’re all spending a lot of time at home these days. Our home is tidy and organized but sometimes I struggle with the concept of putting everything away. When things are out and within my sights, they get my attention or enjoyment. When things are put away out of sight I forget about them. My partner is a music teacher and he tells his students to “Never shut the instrument case. If the case is open you will pick it up and play a little bit. When it is closed you will most likely walk by and channel your energy into other things.” Thanks for this great video Niamh, this candle girl really enjoyed it 🕯🌸
I agree with out of sight out of mind with some of my projects. There's so much to enjoy its easy to forget about it for a while. As for my instrument...I have room put it away safe or I'll pick up the case and it will fall out. 😁
@@kH-bv8ix Yes, k H... “There’s so much to enjoy.”... aren’t we fortunate I, too, have a lot of hobbies and interests, and I like to putter away at them at random times of the day... so I tend to leave them in places where I can pick them up and enjoy them. That said, I live in a big house, and have the space to have a few things out within my sights. Previously I have lived in tiny places where this is not possible. We are truly fortunate 🌸💕. Thanks for your response, and have a great upcoming week 😃
I have not picked up my guitar in five years now. As it sits in it’s case, I often wonder what keeps me from playing. You have made a very helpful point. I will take it out of the case, and perhaps I will be more inclined to play again. I believe it has something to do with my small home. I have never lived in such a small space before. I only have one chair in my living room bc I cannot seem to find the right furniture. I simply adore the loveseat in this video though.
@@vals74 My partner has many stringed instruments... guitars (acoustic & electric), bass, mandolin, fiddle(s), as well as a trumpet, and bagpipes. The bagpipes stay in their case, but he has purchased or built stands for all the other instruments. This allows him to play when he has a few extra minutes here and there. That said, he has a special dedicated place for all his instruments... space is a key factor. Good for you for getting your guitar out of its case. I hope you get reacquainted with it and enjoy time with your music. It is such a relaxing hobby... maybe you will find a guitar stand one day at a thrift shop or music store?? They are often being sold on online marketplaces too. Thank-you for your response, I enjoyed reading your comment. Greetings to you from 🇨🇦 and have a great upcoming week 🎶🎵
Hello, Mary. We conversed in the comments last week (I swear, I'm not stalking you!) It's coincidental that your partner teaches music, because my husband does, too. This year, I made a New Year's resolution to play my flute everyday and just make it a habit like I have with my daily jog. Proudly, I can say that there has been some marked improvement. It's a lovely thing to do après supper and creates a cozy feeling in our home. Your partner's suggestion of keeping one's instruments where you can see them is a good one, although we always put them away in their cases after use due to space considerations and to ensure that humidity levels are maintained for those that are wooden (guitars, etc.).
Too many people seek to curate the life that someone else desires. They do it for love, acceptance, forgiveness, etc. But it doesn't work in the long run. You lose yourself and suddenly illnesses of all varieties set in. We must be free to be our true, authentic selves. Nothing else will do.
I love my home to be flooded with sunlight and fresh air during the day, and candles and essential oils at night. It’s autumn here in Australia and that’s a sanctuary in itself after summer, absolutely glorious ☀️❤️
We are in a lockdown as we speak... for me it is the best thing as my home is my refuge. It's interesting seeing people get anxious because they can't go to town for coffee etc.
Yours is only the 4th channel to which I subscribe, and this video is the first time I rang a bell. Your approach to creating a home sanctuary flows easily and with a delightfully light touch. Describing the gentle truth of self awareness and care as you did, lets me know your ideas can easily be incorporated, and I'm eager to try some of them. Actually, in your videos I feel treated as a welcomed and frequent guest, and when they end, I feel encouraged and joyful. Lighthearted. Thank you.
I enjoy drinking a warm cup of green tea with lemon and honey, reading passages of God's promises in the Bible with some soft music playing in the background. Oh... And I enjoy my diffuser going with a light vanilla essential oil going making a delightful fragrance of comfort like cookies baking. I have two Shih tzu's and this is what they enjoy too. They lay in their little beds on the floor and snooze away. A very peaceful scene in our home. First time listener from Texas.
Oh I love the quiet mornings and evenings. Soft light. Soft inspirational music. Fire and solitude. Oh I have become my favorite person to hang out with!!!
Such peaceful, helpful videos in a time of anxiety and uncertainty. Our homes are very different. I live in a very small cabin in woods with neighbors at least half mile away. We have 3 human souls, 2 dog souls and 2 cat souls inside so my home is safe, clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy. I am very blessed to have a covered porch that runs the length of my cabin, and is 8 ft wide so here is my sanctuary. I have a special chair and little table on one end where I can be in morning sun and watch the finches, robins, Cardinals, sparrows, and other wood birds. Here is where I have my plants, hanging baskets of ivy and fushia to feed the hummingbirds. I have a little raised bed garden at the other end, with herbs, tomatoes and peppers. I can sit here March through part of December, even in a thunderstorm. I do have outside candles which are very soothing in the twilight as the day is winding down. We live in many different places, and many different circumstances but your videos always bring a common idyl that all can practice and enjoy.
One of the main ways I feel my home is a sanctuary is having two cats. Feeling their fur and listening to them purring makes my heart rate slow down. I am surrounded by things that are super soft to the touch. I didn't realise that I needed this until I went for counselling in Feb 2019, and the counsellor pointed out that I will constantly stroke the soft fabric of the chair I was in. After discussing it, I raised that I use soft fabrics to self soothe. And, they're snuggly, too.
@@vals74 my mum had a rag doll called Thomas. In public, he would stay as far away from me as he possibly could. So much so, he used to walk around the perimeter of the room. It was comical. Ah, but at night, he used to snuggle up on my chest and fall asleep purring.
I can correlate. I live in a farmhouse kinda setup where I've cows, a rainforest in the backyard, 3 super cute dogs, n number of squirrels and mongooses. Huts! We grow our own organic veggies. I've a big garden area full of exotic plants. Everyday I notice varieties of birds flocking in to my campus. I'm glad they've found a home in my home compound.
Well I don't manage to have my whole house like a sanctuary, just one room, where I have plants. A Buddha statue, candles and yoga mat and a big home made cosy couch. It's so lovely to have one little sanctuary in a very busy house. Thank you for your lovely video😊
A home made couch? How did you do that, I’d love to make my own couches. My home is a very busy place too so I’m trying to find a space I can turn into a sanctuary.
@@raychlc5959 if you want to send me your email I'll send you some pictures. Just find a little space for yourself and keep it tidy and put a few nice things there that help you relax. Sit there and be kind to yourself. My friend even made a space in her garage 😊
I always watch your videos and I love them. Even before the pandemic started I always use to think why do you need a vacation if your home itself feels like a resort? And then from that day on I started creating a home that felt like a sanctuary. I still live in an apartment and in the city so location wise I would still like to improve but I think that I need to learn to be peaceful in my mind. I made sure little things in my home are done so that I feel like I am in a sanctuary. I once stumbled upon your video and I realized how happy and calm and content it made me feel. When I want to feel like I am in a sanctuary I play your videos. Also other slow living vlogs. They make me realize what's important. I also light incense sticks. I always light an oil lamp in my home. When I do that it makes me feel very calm and like I am in a spa. I also use diffusers to make me feel like I am in a spa or sanctuary.
I only hang artwork that my husband and I love. Sounds obvious, but I think it’s important to look at things that give us joy or bring happy memories. There is nothing on the walls that is there just to fill a blank space, or because it is “trendy” or matches the decor. And we keep it to a minimum so the walls don’t look too cluttered .
I do not have much of anything on my walls. I do have some framed photographs on my table that are beginning to look cluttered. I create my own artwork (drawings, paintings and sculptures), and only a few are displayed. Love color as well as black and white sketches.
Another lovely relaxing video. I like to burn candles and scented oils. I use different scents depending on the seasons. In spring I use flowery scents like rose jasmine and lily of the valley. In summer I use summer breeze which reminds me of the sea and sand. In autumn I use a woodland scent and in winter I use cinnamon orange and pine. Thank you for sharing your lovely ideas of how to make your home like a sanctuary. Looking forward to seeing your video next week x
My goal for my home is to make it feel like you're being hugged. Textures are important, so seating is soft material and the same for pillows and throws. I like to soften the light through windows with lace curtains. Citrus smells seem very relaxing, so I clean with citrus oils when I can. I like a bit of eye candy, so I have a few interesting pieces on display to have a place for the eyes to land. This approach extends outdoors as well with plantings, seating areas and yard art.
@@cindygaudet1390 I use bergamot and lavendar essential oils for scent. I mix them with water or vodka to create a mist for freshening a room and even for their antimicrobial effect. I've used Van Van oil that I made from a recipe I found online to occassionally polish wood. I'm still experimenting with the oil base on that one because it is easy to get a build up which needs to be cleaned off after a while. For personal care, I mix essential oils in castor oil which I apply to my body. I stumbled on a mix of lavender and arnica which has done amazing things for my skin. I add a couple of drops of this to my moisturizer. I'm a bit older and my skin can tolerate the extra oil. If you have anything to share, please do!
To anyone reading, be sure to check what essential oils/extracts are safe to put round the house if you have animals! I think citrus is harmful to some pets
A lot of different lamps always create a softer, cozier ambiance (low W, no ceiling light). My favorite candles, a soft throw blanket to curl up and never without my cuppa!
Right from the moment you say “Hello and welcome to Fairyland Cottage” I can hear the smile in your voice. It’s like you’re ready to break into a giggle or a laugh because you have such a happy heart. Others have also mentioned your happy and peaceful voice. It’s a pleasure to listen to you as you share your life and messages. I’m very grateful for your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Your post reminded me of this quote (I don't remember where it came from though): "That house was a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep, or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all.’ Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear and sadness.”
That is a quote from the Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. He was describing “the last homely house.” The home of Elrond. :) that quote has been an aim of my own homemaking.
Love your video, your thoughts & soothing voice. . . for me my sanctuary is when my sweet precious seven yr old cat-baby wants mommy time, curling up in my lap gently lovingly touching my face several times before settling on my chest heart to heart for a long nap. Feeling his heartbeat on mine is 'home'.
In our house cats add to the coziness. Cats sometimes also create a mess and unpleasant scents but it doesn’t feel like home without our cuddling cats.
I use a cat litter pan liner and change the litter daily so there is no unpleasant odors. The cats themselves never have an odor. And they are adorable and beautiful and wonderful creatures to have in your life
@@giannabella9183 I absolutely agree about the cats and the litter. Two of our cats require special food and this food does not smell good unfortunately. It’s worth it but we have a few cats and sometimes I feel that it’s just a lot of work! I love them but there are definitely downsides.
I do all of these things in addition to only putting things in my home that I LOVE. From the tiniest thing to the biggest. Beautiful forks to beautiful wardrobes, everything needs to have character (and for me history). I am very intentional about what I purchase and put in my home. If I don't LOVE it, it doesn't belong here. Thanks for a peaceful video.
I've just subscribed to your channel. It's OH SO refreshing to know that you and I believe in the same motto "less is more". I'm still working on reducing the unnecessary objects for the enjoyment of the necessary elements. DW
I do pretty much all the same. When weather permits. I open the windows to air out my home. I live in the country so I'm not bombarded with sounds or smells. Also having a hot cup of tea while reading..
It's really warm to know that there are ppl who are equally crazy about nature like me..detailing the feel of a leaf or the texture of the bark and feeling ecstatic for no reason..
I have my little garden in the back yard. It’s my oasis. The trees and plantings are almost 13 years old. I add a few new flowers annually, but basically, it’s requires little maintenance. I love to sit with a cup of tea and enjoy the beauty, and the birds. It’s penicillin for the soul.
My cozy room has comfortable seating, adjustable lighting, books, plants, pictures of my family, is clean/decluttered, soft music playing, fireplace on, candles, flowers, and a glass of wine! and a good friend couple to enjoy it with!
I love soft cozy blankets to snuggle up, I agree with keeping a house dark at night and using dim warm lights, we use led candles because my husband has allergies and can’t take the smoke from real candles and we have kitties. I also love to watch the cardinals from my den where I put a bird feeder up and I love baths, salt, oil or bubble baths. I love your channel.
Hi everyone! Every time after I watch your videos I put some lavendar oil in my difuser, put some soft piano music on, and usually have that drink you made with the almond milk, cinnamon, ginger, and cocunut sweetner. I am relaxed and calm. THANK YOU!!
I did not see the video about that drink. Sounds so good and healthy too! Think I will give it a try since I have all of the ingredients. Thank you for mentioning this.
Another way I create a sanctuary in my home is by letting in fresh air and light, and by playing music to suit my mood and/or chore at hand. For example, to motivate me when cleaning I have very upbeat, singable songs playing. When I am mending or sewing, I like slower, steadier songs.
I remember the glow of my grandparents' living room when LED light bulbs weren't popular, at least not in the home. The room was always a softer yellowish color in the evening. Now, I always opt for the "soft white" LED bulbs, there's something much cozier about a softer/warmer light at night. Your wood stove is always so dreamy btw!
I see it the same way as you do! Thanks for this uplifting video! It is very calming, inviting and inspiring. Since many years I try to live this way of life too. I created a secluded natural garden in a very english style (mixed borders) and it is a garden without toxins and a beautiful wildlife. Never the less very well maintained. Unfortunately many new neighbours only want to have an english grass in their gardens. (without trees and shrubs and with no flowers at all) And sadly: many YOUNG neighbours, too. They asked me why I have even trees in my garden. They said, that people like us made it diffucult to maintain their own garden, because of the things (seeds, leaves, petals) what are flying around and reach their own garden. For me this sayings are warning signs, and I really hope that videos and contents like yours help to contribute a opinion-forming.In our busy world it would be so nessecary to have a calming, soothing home.
These videos inspired me to live like the woman in the video, and now, i am much more at peace. I call my home 'Lavender Cottage'. Although, it is an appartement lol These videos have been really helpful to me. Some of the ways i make my home a sanctuary is by creating a meditation corner and using a Tibetan singing bowl to wake me up to the present moment and encourage a peaceful mind/ heart. I play Zen music and do the cleaning mindfully.
Thank you for sharing this with us. I agree with a place to relax a place to feel comfortable is exactly what a home should be. Having a place to find this is important
Wonderful ideas . I like to make special corners too. One is my morning skincare routine corner. It’s set in a lovely carved box on a teak table with a mirror n plant beside a window of my walk in wardrobe. I get up in the morning n after washing my face .. come to this table n sit on the stool n give myself some care n pampering. It takes only 7-10 mins doing cleaning n treatment n little Japanese facial massage n sunscreen.. once I m starting my day after that .. I might not get that slow time. Similar is reading corner with small bookshelf n candles n nice cushions to get comfortable with a cup of tea n book. Also a lovely wood box near my chair in the tv room has a mini spa. My hand cream n foot cream n lip balm etc to pamper while watching tv. Also little empty de cluttered spaces are luxurious n spa like anytime. Also it’s lovely to see well organised drawers n wardrobe n they make u feel in control n calm. I m a little project everyday sort of person .. so as I like to pamper myself n take care by some exercise everyday n same for family.. I feel the same about my home.. I have to do something little extra everyday to love it.. apart from regular work .
Hello....loved your video. I too make my home a sanctuary with the same things you do. Plants, cleanliness, dim lights, comfortable temperature, simmering mulling spices, music, inspiring books and magazines, soft colors and my own or another artist's paintings. I like looking at things in my home that have a special meaning to me. Equally important, is to eliminate toxic people in my home and in my environment. What we feed our mind, body and soul should be clean and filled with goodness. Doing this daily makes a huge difference.

Hello Just found your you tube, what a beautiful place, I only dream of doing those things, like just sit in the quiet, and listen to the birds, but I have a hubby that just want let me do those things, he is always around wanting to know what i want doing I tell him I just want to be quiet then he goes of in a huff, since he has retired his has been a pain in the neck. I know he is finding it hard so use of going off to work. But I suppose that is life. I think I will come and listen to you. and feel like I am in your garden. Cheers.
my garden is my sanctuary. As far as my peace of mind goes. the last couple years I've been beat down with arthritis, carpul tunnel, and Fibromyalgia and have been struggling to keep up with it. For this reason after years of fighting it I decided to get my knee replaced and do the carpul tunnel surgery so I can keep up with my garden and home with a bit less pain.
Candles are definitely my first way to relax. I also love sage, good books, soft relaxing music and of course your videos. Home is not a place, it’s a feeling, a place to escape the chaos and drama in the world. I live a very primitive lifestyle, only use oil lamps, have low wattage “cozy” lights tucked in here and there and love to cuddle with my pets….a perfect sanctuary ❤
I agree, I don't think I would feel peace if my home was filthy and dirty! I too, try to use chemical free homemade cleaners! Thanks, your place of residence always looks so inviting and wonderful! Have a good week!
I like to light my various nightlights. My favorite is my pink salt nightlight. I plug in a mini bubbling water vase. The biggest improvement for my peaceful home is I switched all might bulbs to incandescent. The fluorescent and led lighting in the office is enough for me. At home, I need a break from the harsh and flickering lighting. I bought a peace lily today.😊 I love plants as well. They need to be low maintenance and either clean the air or be edible. ❤
Soooooo glad to hear you have your warmth Nyamh♥️ that's very important to me I love low lighting lamps and night lights in the corridors candles incence aromatherapy oils plants clean home tidy home background atmospheric music jazz gregorian chants classical music indian ragas audiobooks thanks for your awesome videos biggest hug xx

Here in our cabin in South Texas; dirt from the fields blows in constantly so we we don’t believe in closing up our doors n windows with all the beautiful countryside around; we also burn Palo Santo around our home Altars💞👒
Love that you have a gramophone and a pile of LP records! Still beats digital sound, and using it is a ritual in itself, compared to instant sound and bluetooth!. Greetings from the southern tip of Africa :)
Two years ago, my husband and I bought a singular plant at IKEA that promised to be hardy. It's still with us today. And a few weeks ago I bought a couple of flowering plants that were touch and go for the first little while, but both are starting to come to life in the last few days. It's so exciting. (I keep pointing them out to my husband who's a little confused as to why I'm so thrilled 😂) I don't know what it is about plants, especially for women, I guess we like to feel like we have something to nurture? Lol. Several of those tips you mentioned are definitely things I've felt instinctively to do more and more around my own house - decluttering, keeping things clean and fresh looking, and creating a relaxing ambience by lighting candles and/or using low lighting. All that plus clean sheets and a clean bathroom and I feel like I'm living in a hotel 👌 lol. Thanks again for another wonderful video. So peaceful and relaxing.
Like you, I do much of the same. Though I’ve just recently been getting into having more plants. The other thing I do, is pick a spot in my home that decorate for the season or a particular holiday. It adds a little extra touch of whim and fancy throughout the year, without all of the “takeover”, per say, the way that Christmas does. Right now, I have a little “Springscape” of greens, blooms, books, & a framed print, etc. on my coffee table & a similar one on the sideboard in my kitchen. In June, I’ll switch it up to summer & later add a very subtle nod to July 4th (here in the USA, but nothing loud or tacky) & shells during August. Come September, I’ll slowly added touches of Autumn with apples, foliage and so forth; tweaking it through the months till the holidays arrive. It’s pleasing to me and let’s me get creative.
Creating my own organic soy candles using recycled jars, filling my home with flowers - fresh in the spring and summer - then carefully drying them so that I have beautiful flowers for fall and winter. When spring comes, taking all of my dried flowers and filling large mason jars with them. I can use them when packaging gifts and other things, or just in the jars for beauty. Collecting china and lace cloths - and never feeling like an occasion isn't fancy enough to bring out the china ... always having pretty things on hand for guests. Growing my own microgreens and sprouts in the kitchen, keeping plants in every room, and growing a wildflower meadow and a cut flower garden in the summer. Using my French press often! Harvesting and making my own tea. Goldenrod is something i have a lot of in my wildflower meadow ... lovely video!
It’s the “little” everyday things that make up our lives. candles, books, essentials oils, tea and tidiness! Love this video. I sometimes play soft music as well. All these ingredients give me a feeling of calm and peacefulness.
Just LOVE💕the comment of living in different places but never making them nourishing. So true!!!Such a difference when the nourishing factor is present.May you continue to nourish your beautiful soul😚
Now that’s what I call an inspiration! I paused the video to get the fireplace and my essential oil diffuser going:) I can also add soft blankets on the sofa, soft carpets, fresh linen, well aired space, fairy lights in warm light. As someone who works from home I also try to make my desk very cosy, surrounded by fresh flowers and a candle, and a lamp with warm light
Although if all else fails, painting the walls is a fairly cheap way to totally reinvent the feeling of a room. My office had dark grey walls. When we toured the old owner had old mobster movie posters everywhere in it. I bore with those walls for a year before deciding I should love my office that I spent 10+ hours a day in. Now the walls are a bright, calming blue, and it made so much difference to my daily mood.

Hi, my name is Gabi,, I am 56 years old and I live with my husband and Cocker Spaniel in a small village near Vienna, Austria. I really love your videos and thank you for inspiring me to bring more simplicity and peace into my life ❤️
Oh I love Austria I wish I could retire there..heaven on earth 💘
I've a friend Ernest he's in his late 70s lives just outside your city..
Waw! For me, it looks that you must be dreaming... 😊 You are so lucky, im so happy for you.
There is a lot of pain and sadness just now in my life. Listening to you is very relaxing and it helps just now.....

I love the sound of morning doves cooing away as if planet earth is paradise.
@@trinidad2450 😂 I'm sorry to hear that, that sounds, very unpleasant! I hope the female comes around, and you'll have some peace 😊
I sit outside everyday just to listen to the birds and watch the butterflies in my garden! Peace!
Out in the countryside of the city where I live in theres plenty of wildlife. Birds all kinds enough to birdwatch as a hobby. Theres also plenty butterflies, fireflies, bees, and flowers along w a small stream....
Yes, “just sitting and listening to the birds” is one of life’s great joys.
As a hot headed Irishman myself I am learning finally to follow your example. (I too dust with a sock!)
I have one of those swiffer dusters, but I find myself using it for the high-up places for the most part. I'm considering returning to the towel and broom... For everything else, I also use a sock lol.
A good way to utilize a "lone" or worn out sock.
Take care of yourself I was married to a hot headed Irishman and he died of a massive heart attack at 41 years old.
I was wondering what she had on her hand! Thanks. A great use for socks whose mates have gone to "sock heaven" during the strenuous laundry procedure!
@@lauriekline8655 I have always said that my temper is my shame and I am working on it. My condolences to you.
We conversed in the comments last week (I swear, I'm not stalking you!)
It's coincidental that your partner teaches music, because my husband does, too.
Fairyland Cottage serves as my weekly motivation to curate the life that I desire 😊
So true 😂
Too many people seek to curate the life that someone else desires. They do it for love, acceptance, forgiveness, etc. But it doesn't work in the long run. You lose yourself and suddenly illnesses of all varieties set in. We must be free to be our true, authentic selves. Nothing else will do.
the best thing in my lock down is drinking herby tea at night with my candles and watching your videos :)) xx
I love my home to be flooded with sunlight and fresh air during the day, and candles and essential oils at night. It’s autumn here in Australia and that’s a sanctuary in itself after summer, absolutely glorious ☀️❤️
That sounds so heavenly....🤗
That sounds so ascetic and cozy
Sounds great. Make sure the candles are non toxic.
@ t-maree Does it ever get cold over there?
I like to add fresh flowers to my home as well. I always like soft fluffy towels folded in the bathroom too. Great tips.
Ohh yes I must do soft fluffy towels in the bathroom. Great idea!
We are in a lockdown as we speak... for me it is the best thing as my home is my refuge. It's interesting seeing people get anxious because they can't go to town for coffee etc.
Meh, doing your own coffee is it's own ritual. And it's cheaper.
Where are you from?
Yours is only the 4th channel to which I subscribe, and this video is the first time I rang a bell. Your approach to creating a home sanctuary flows easily and with a delightfully light touch. Describing the gentle truth of self awareness and care as you did, lets me know your ideas can easily be incorporated, and I'm eager to try some of them. Actually, in your videos I feel treated as a welcomed and frequent guest, and when they end, I feel encouraged and joyful. Lighthearted. Thank you.
What a beautiful message Susan. I’m honoured you rang the bell and love the video so much. You are always a welcome guest here at our home ☘️
Susan.. Hi good morning
It sounds like heaven to me.
@Stephanie Francis hello good morning how are you doing?
I so agree that it isn't about the furniture, etc. All my furnishings are an eclectic mix of second hand pieces and I couldn't be happier at home.
My cat brings much comfort to me as well. He is a 10lb Ragdoll. Don’t know if you are familiar with the breed, but he is very beautiful.
@@vals74 my mum had a rag doll called Thomas. In public, he would stay as far away from me as he possibly could. So much so, he used to walk around the perimeter of the room. It was comical. Ah, but at night, he used to snuggle up on my chest and fall asleep purring.
@It's a Carol B thing good morning how are you doing?
I can correlate. I live in a farmhouse kinda setup where I've cows, a rainforest in the backyard, 3 super cute dogs, n number of squirrels and mongooses. Huts! We grow our own organic veggies. I've a big garden area full of exotic plants. Everyday I notice varieties of birds flocking in to my campus. I'm glad they've found a home in my home compound.
Oh my god your home sounds so lovely , what you described is the life i hope I get to live in the next years :)

Our sanctuary ideas are the same. Loved the reminders. BLESSINGS always
Love it at 1:45 when she's talking about feeling safe -- and leaves her keys in the door!!
That’s such a good point! And makes so much sense... we are the same. Everything has to have meaning and pictures we both love
I so agree. I posted too the same thing about artwork on the walls... Only things that have meaning or are inspirational. And, I'm always grateful..
We do the same. Photos of our family or meaningful artwork!
I do not have much of anything on my walls. I do have some framed photographs on my table that are beginning to look cluttered.
I create my own artwork (drawings, paintings and sculptures), and only a few are displayed. Love color as well as black and white sketches.
Very relaxing and soothing! I hope you have a peaceful and restful night.
Monique carcel.. Hi good morning how are you doing?
I love that hand duster that’s a amazing Idea 💡
My goal for my home is to make it feel like you're being hugged. Textures are important, so seating is soft material and the same for pillows and throws. I like to soften the light through windows with lace curtains. Citrus smells seem very relaxing, so I clean with citrus oils when I can. I like a bit of eye candy, so I have a few interesting pieces on display to have a place for the eyes to land. This approach extends outdoors as well with plantings, seating areas and yard art.
Sounds divine 😌
Rebecca could you say what oils and mixes you use?
@@rebeccaoliver5306 thanks.NoI keep meaning to buy essential oils but am on a limited income. Disability pension and lol I am older be 65 this yr.
To anyone reading, be sure to check what essential oils/extracts are safe to put round the house if you have animals! I think citrus is harmful to some pets
Looking at your garden I think you are a wonderful plants mother 😌 and when I see your videos I always think of you as a forest fairy! 🙏💛
Thank you for saying my dear ☀️🐝💛
A lot of different lamps always create a softer, cozier ambiance (low W, no ceiling light). My favorite candles, a soft throw blanket to curl up and never without my cuppa!
Sitting in my garden listening to the birdbath bubbling, watching the birds flying around realizing this moment can't be duplicated. Love to all
Right from the moment you say “Hello and welcome to Fairyland Cottage” I can hear the smile in your voice. It’s a pleasure to listen to you as you share your life and messages. I’m very grateful for your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Awh thanks for such a kind message Cheryl. ☺️❤️
when you said i wasn't very kind to myself my heart stopped... This is truly beautiful
Keeping a very soft throw with tea available in a comfy chair is my go to.

DW
Ah that’s wonderful that you found the channel and subscribed! It’s lovely to have you here :-)
I do pretty much all the same.
Sounds magical! Penicillin for the soul is right!
You could use the Candle's that are Made of Wax, but have an Artificial-Flickering Flame. They come in several Color's.
Tracey.. Hi
Sweet, simple, inexpensive and easy living thank you 😊
Beautiful, thank you.
Hi everyone! Every time after I watch your videos I put some lavendar oil in my difuser, put some soft piano music on, and usually have that drink you made with the almond milk, cinnamon, ginger, and cocunut sweetner. I am relaxed and calm. THANK YOU!!
Ah that’s such a lovely routine Christine! Think I’m off to make a nice warm drink now too xxx
I love that you call yourself a "Plant Mother"...I am going to use this term
I consider my plants as my children. ❤️
I also thought the same😄
I see it the same way as you do!
My wife and I love watching your videos. Thank you for all that you do.
I love your home! I love the old cottage style. It is an excellent reminder to continue to love and care for my home.
Ah thanks Katherine!
Plants, cleanliness, dim lights, comfortable temperature, simmering mulling spices, music, inspiring books and magazines, soft colors and my own or another artist's paintings. but I have a hubby that just want let me do those things, he is always around wanting to know what i want doing I tell him I just want to be quiet
then he goes of in a huff, since he has retired his has been a pain in the neck.
Good luck and healing to you!

Thank you your words were soothing 🤗
I agree, I don't think I would feel peace if my home was filthy and dirty! I too, try to use chemical free homemade cleaners! Thanks, your place of residence always looks so inviting and wonderful! Have a good week!
I love this so much. The birds are such great teachers. They build nests without hands. We are so small in comparison.

Perfect. Thank you. 🤗
What a perfectly delightful idea. I may just have to adopt it in my home. Thank you!!
Even silence quiets my mind. There is so much noise pollution during the day, so I do make the most of my evenings when my mind feels clear.
Small, simple pleasures
@Sharon Ann Menefee , good morning how are you doing?
@@SharonAnnMenefee how is the pandemic situation over there in your country?
So relaxing to watch, great tasteful ideas. Just lovely 💕
I love your channel. For me, the sound of water tumbling is serene too.
Laura Jones, how are you doing? Good morning
