Great informative, yet relaxing video! One tip I would suggest: use a letter-size envelope and some painter's tape to collect the dust when drilling. The envelope is taped below the drilling area, and its mouth is kept open to collect the drywall dust. This minimizes any vacuuming or wet rag cleanups needed after drilling.
I hated my ironing board so much, that I got rid of it. When I really really have to iron something I make it like my grandma did. Put blankets and towels on my kitchen island and use this really better ironing board 👍🏻
There are steps you need to take before drilling into a wall for your safety. Locate the position of the electrical cables inside the wall before drilling, at least!!
Love your ideas Quick tip: put a sticky note under the holes you are gonna drill and fold the lower part upwards - saves the cleaning as it catches all the dirt.
You always have the most unique solutions to any visual clutter. I don't have your patience and any extra eyesores get pushed under my bed. As the saying goes..."out of sight, out of mind". Every time I de-clutter I always have you in mind and ask myself what would Benita do and that motivates me!
rather than putting the desk cable manager on the wall, mounting it under the desk on glides (so it pulls out) would be an idea for anyone who doesn't want holes in the wall.
For some reason I have a strange dread of ever drilling holes in my walls - and if I ever need them I never feel like I could do it myself. Your video makes me think it’s time for me to learn to do this.
I had the same feeling but I did it anyway and it’s so satisfying and addicting to know you can hang anyything and be your own handy person without having to wait on someone else to get around to it. Very empowering. So much is that I’ve drilled an absurd number of holes in my bedroom . at first when I was learning how to drill in drywall vs on a stud (didn’t even know where the studs were til the drill wasn’t drilling in lol), I found 12 studs before I figured how how they’re ALL positioned. RaRW lol then I learned how to fill in and fix dry wall and learned the tricks to hanging anything no matter how specific the holes have to be placed. (Gorilla tape or that blue tape that stops you from painting the floorboards or w.e). now I’m basically a prooo. A pro* who knows how much I don’t know. but I’ve gotten so much satisfaction and reward out of learning and accomplishing small things, it’s become a very fun journey. I recommend it!!
I'm not a minimalist but I do like to keep a tidy house. I don't like clutter. Too much stuff around me saps my energy. You gave me so many great ideas which I've already started implementing and I'm really very happy with the results. UA-cam put your video in my newsfeed so I'm a first time watcher and now a subscriber. I also love the music in the background and your vibe. It's very relaxing and enjoyable
So true that it's the attention to the details that makes such a difference. I love repurposing an item for something different than its intended use. And it goes without saying that 'ugly' yet needed items should be hidden. I am really enjoying seeing your home evolve. Wishing you a good week Benita 🌼
I hide things around my home too. I keep my Shark electric sweeper behind a curtain in my dining room. It's so convenient to keep it there out of sight. And there is an outlet to keep it plugged in. When we entertain, we have many games to play. Some are out in plain sight to add to the decor, and others are hidden under a table with a table cloth covering them so they are easy to access but hidden away until needed. Thanks for the video. Always a pleasure to watch. 🥰🐣🌱🌿💐🌷☔💗✝
Hello Benita! I have been watching your videos for possibly more than 2 years now. I love this episode because it's not just about hiding 'ugly' items, but also doing so in such a strategic manner. Thank you so much for sharing these ideas.❤
I moved a few times in a short period and changed my ironing board to a blanket, it helped with the storage too... love how the appartement begins to feel like it s always been with you
I'm loving these videos of how you're organising your new home and the solutions you're finding for all those daily necessities -- so many great ideas I am going to shamelessly copy!
Every time I watch Benita's video, I make some small but wonderful improvements to my life! I just reorganized my desk (wire management related) and LOVE it. Thank you Benita!
Wonderful video, Benita! Something my son uses now for his cats is an automatic litter box cleaner -- it's a game changer for his girlfriend and him! It filters the contents and bags it and you just have to remove the bag.
Home Depo has white fire extinguishers. Also to cover a box for the tv I use paper glued to wood in a 3 sided box, with holes punched in and painted for a design since my box has a blue light to show that is is on, it is cute in both in the dark and the light.
That upside down box over electronics is brilliant! In older spaces you get these useful spaces behind doors; it makes me realize what more modern house designs have lost.
This has been the most useful video for me. I had a couple of ah-ha moments for messes that were bothering me greatly! Off to brainstorm and do so online window shopping for my solutions! Good ideas. For my son and his roommate, I put their pans on kitchen wall. As apt has very little space. Also put things used less often in outside storage closet
I 🤣🤣 when you said " I love the many doors in my apartment....I look upon them as storage opportunities" GENIUS!! 💡 And piling stuff on the floor should be declared illegal!! Thanks Benita! 🌼🌷
What a great idea for a video! There are several I want to try out now. The cable organizer and the tray under the couch are high on my list of ugly things to hide. I didn’t even have a list before but this video has inspired me. 😊
Thats a lot of holes in the wall! I had a room renter once that drilled all kinds of holes in my PLASTER walls without even asking. That drove me crazy! My own ironing board sits in the closet behind the heavy winter coats. In the US we have metal hook units that hang on the back of a door that hold many things.
Hello Benita! Visual clutter - this is a problem, the annoying cords and stuff - I am still do my declutter, but Wow I have accumulated so much 'stuff' - very overwhelming. I love the floors in your new place - I feel 'grounded' when watching your video and seeing the floors - that sounds weird. 😃 All of these ideas are great! Your cupboards on so organized! Someday mine will look like that ... as always, I enjoy your channel so much! Enjoy your week! 💮🌸💮
Thank you so much for this video, it’s just what I’ve needed. I’m also in a decluttering phase at the moment and all the cords are so messy looking. I will definitely try some of your suggestions, they are so practical and as a bonus they look nice! Always enjoy your content, keep up the good work, we all appreciate it 🥰
My house is from the 30’s and my ironing board comes out of the wall in the kitchen, plug under it for the iron. I’d love one like yours to hang on the wall upstairs in my office where I sew most of the time. Yours is so compact.
I love the idea of a tray under the sofa. I have so many magazines that lie around looking ugly. I will be hunting for a lovely basket to put them under the sofa. Thanks a lot for all these great tips!
Hi Bonita, I've been loving your videos on the new apartment we just moved as well so getting a lot of good ideas from you. I have a question about the drill that you use when you were hanging the ironing board. there's a black handle in front of the regular handle is that something that came with the drill? Thank you. Nancy
I keep my ironing board in a space free and available between the fridge and the wall in the kitchen I rarely use it but that way is great to know I don’t need to use hooks or unfold it in uneasy ways and I can use it if I need it . I am fond of the fashion “Viva la arruga” that a Spanish fashion designer tried to make it a trend( Adolfo Dominguez) for the sake of everybody ‘s convenience 😊😊😊😊
I forgot to write that Viva la arruga means “up with the rinkles,,! Which I think it is differently written to “ Up with the wrinkles” not on the clothes but on the skin which I also support.❤❤❤
Oh yesss! Empty floors! Hangers! I love it, I even don't have any coffee table and of course no cable touches the floor. It is soooo nice to clean such place, isn't it? 😄😄😄
hey benita............brilliant tips........love the cable organizer , had no idea such an animal existed😊😊😊😊. behind the door, smart , too cool . keeping things off the floor , marvelous . all of your tips are genius , my hero😊😊😊. great share ,thank you , for sharing🥰🥰🥰🥰................
You have a hardware store equivalent of drills, etc. do you have a place for them as well as nails, screws, washers, nuts, etc. I love that your large electrical items are in your home and accessible. Every time I need a tool I have to look for it in one of theee places. Thanks for your ideas.
Best video yet. I loved every idea. I’m a big fan of all your videos. Thank you Benita. I miss your old house but am starting to love the old charm of your new place. I live in Chicago, IL US.
Benita, these were wonderful tips. I use nice looking boxes all the time and when I can't find the perfect one I've use cardboard boxes by painting over the graphics with primer and then painting that with the color of the room in which it will be stored. In my case that is grey. It helps my eye disregard something that would otherwise drive me crazy. Cheers
I have a friend who paints over cardboard boxes, too, and what a difference it makes. So I do this too. Plus you can cut them to whatever size you need. A great way to recycle!
Hi Benita I am so impressed with how you use the driller! I just can get myself to do it as I always think I will ruin te walls 😮.. Could you maybe do a video of how to do it? I also noticed you are using 2 different drillers what is the difference? Thanks 😊
I am trying to reduce things and I find you so inspiring. Just curious, you mentioned that you like to sew, so I was curious as to how you organized your sewing supplies and your sewing machine. As always thanks for these videos and look forward to the next one.
You have come up with great ideas for storage behind doors. Love the one for storage under sofa. Love the light grey walls, my vibe for sure. Thank You. ❤
Love your new apartment and it is coming along beautifully. Love the floors too and all of the doors to hide things behind, brilliant. Is your new sofa from a brand name store that is worldwide, I know you told me that your carpet in the kitchen was from H&M. Also love your new coffee table. I saw a lamp base out of the same wood, so beautiful. Loved all of the helpful hints.
Your african basket/laundry hamper looks identical in the way its made,to a small basket i got in South Carolina years ago from two black women who made them literally sitting by the side of the road and selling them to people. It was a cool experience. South Carolina is where my mother and grandmother were from. Denmark to be exact!!
I have to ask....my OCD won't allow me not to. Are the hooks for the ironing board level? Is it the angle of the video that makes the left one look lower?
I still remember when you recovered that ironing board. The woven laundry basket is a beautiful choice for an ordinary use. How lucky are the Swedes to have fire safety equipment that's not screaming red, no such luck Downunder. Are the two rugs in the lounge & dining the same? I didn't notice the rug is from your previous home, somehow it stands out to me more in this apartment.
Benita, thank you for your helpful tips! May I make a suggestion? Perhaps you could have chapters in the bottom to forward to the next area of personal relevance and speed up the video? Each segment takes a long time (eg drilling) and can be done by editing recorded material. The idea is to get more viewers, that may help with folks impatience. Though I love the relaxed music, your voice and focus on the task and not yourself! Lovely!
As a fellow seamstress,I would love some tips on keeping sewing orgainze - especially in such a small space. I kive in 604sf studio and it looks more like a sewing studio than an apartment. While that IS kind of how I use it, it looks messy.
Thank you for such a rlaxing and inspiring video! I think I have the same scraper in the shower as you do, but my rubberblade got really messy from the water.. have you found a white replacement-blade somewhere by any chance?
How do you hang your Dyson, I so want to do this. I have tried, and no matter what its top heavy, and keeps coming away from wall. Would be so much easier to have it off the floor. Believe me, I tried.
Lovely vid and I really enjoyed seeing your style and how you make it work. Can you please say where you got your rocking stool? It is gorgeous and would help me avoid a stiff back. ❤
When I moved to a new apartment storing the laundry hamper/basket was a problem The solution was using a metal/plastic pedal bin and leaving it outside on the small terrace off my bedroom. You can always find a way!
I rent. So drilling is frowned upon. I use an 'over-door hanger' for my ironing board. I have a spare folding chair hanging behind another door. To avoid having lots of cables running from plug to TV/video/etc unit, I fixed a five outlet socket to the top-back of the unit itself and plugged in all the equipment there. That left only one visible cable to deal with.
i am thinking of getting a cordless drill. You seem to have both. i just want to use it for normal household work. Will you suggest me what to get , a cordless one or with a cord?😁
I mainly use the cordless as a power screwdriver. If I need small holes in wood I use it for that too. For tough walIs I use the one with the cord because it’s also a hammer drill.
I love the African basket for laundry! Where do you keep your trash and recycling bins? Do you only have one for the whole house or do you keep them in several rooms? I've got a small trash bin in my bedroom as my dog will steal tissues if I need them in the night. I've got a paper bag by my entrance for recyclable and another trash can over there as well. With next to no closed storage I find it to be an eyesore and gross BC trash is gross. As a female who still uses feminine products, I also have a trash can in the washroom. Right now everything is purely functional but tips on how to make these things part of the decor would be awesome! Unfortunately, we only have trash and recycling removal weekly and being in a house I don't have access to a community space. I would almost give up a home to have the trash and recycling on site!
Benita, first of all I really enjoy your miminalist tips. Thank you! I noticed you have a different sofa in your new appartment. I was thinking about getting the one that you had in your previous apartment from Innovation Living. Was there any specific reason why you don´t have the original one?
What a wonderful video !!!! Loved all your clever ideas especially behind the door storage & hanging hooks 🪝 loved the wooden thrifted apple 🍎 was a pleasure to watch. Enjoy your new home it’s beautiful 😍
Dear Benita, I love the pair of jeans you're wearing in this video! Is it organic cotton? Could you please share what brand it is as I m looking for a good pair of organic jeans for a long time, many many thanks 💜💛💙

I don't iron, use the dryer or a steamer.
I also rarely iron things. I do it on the bed, taking the blanket away. our bed is just not very soft, it is better for the back
@@kanases some times some special occasions needs iron , or some types of handcrafting
Thank you unknown person, probably from the other end of the world for this tip!

Aww, that’s so sweet!
rather than putting the desk cable manager on the wall, mounting it under the desk on glides (so it pulls out) would be an idea for anyone who doesn't want holes in the wall.
That would be great, but for a beautiful piece of furniture, not an ideal option. Walls would be an easier fix.
I loved your old apartment so much, but you’re definitely warming me up to this one. Your sense of style is “par excellence”.
For some reason I have a strange dread of ever drilling holes in my walls - and if I ever need them I never feel like I could do it myself. Your video makes me think it’s time for me to learn to do this.

You can buy a device which shows you where the live cables are. This is great for overcoming that (very sensible) dread.
Great ideas as always! I had a friend who hid the good chocolates under the couch. Her husband and son never knew😮😊
I'm going to give this a try 😅

I would be very interested in videos about your sewing, whether it is alterations or creating.

Who's a clever girl then👏👏. a brilliant video Benita you have solved a few storage problems for me in this one.. Thank you 🥳👍
Glad it was helpful!
When using the drill, place a v-folded piece of paper, or a post-it, glued under the point to be drilled, so that the dust does not end up everywhere😊
Once again, no complaints from me... beautifully done ❤.. the choice of music is awesome as well. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 😊

Super smart ideas...the African basket is gorgeous 😍

Your new home is beautiful. And you're such an inspiration. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
I love the white 🧯 fire extinguisher ❤. I have never seen one like that before.
It’s so nice, I agree!
Oh how I love your background music! So relaxing
I have to ask....my OCD won't allow me not to. Are the hooks for the ironing board level? Is it the angle of the video that makes the left one look lower?
They are.
Wow, that was a long time ago! Yes, the rugs are the same! I had one in the living-room in my old apartment and added another one in the kitchen here.
this has been one of my favorite videos. You gave me so many ideas to hide ugly things in plain sight. thank you.
Yay, that makes me so happy to hear!
I so love how you use the doors to hide items! I have my ironing board handing on the back of one my doors.
I'm so glad you liked it!
Please tell me how you manage your eating since you mentioned recently that you don't cook. I would love to reduce much kitchen clutter.
Raw vegan 😂😅
I’m not interested in food so I also prefer not to share that much about what I eat.
Love your videos. I am extremely organized and I’m a minimalist too. Your videos are so relaxing and full of great ideas!
I’m glad you enjoy them!
Thank you for such a rlaxing and inspiring video!
I think I have the same scraper in the shower as you do, but my rubberblade got really messy from the water.. have you found a white replacement-blade somewhere by any chance?
I think Muji sells them separately too!
How do you hang your Dyson, I so want to do this. I have tried, and no matter what its top heavy, and keeps coming away from wall. Would be so much easier to have it off the floor. Believe me, I tried.
The wall attachment came with the vacuum cleaner!
@@BenitaLarsson Thanks for the reply, I dont recall getting that attachment, will look. But would love to have it off the floor. ❤
I love that idea and did you put the cable in the bracket behind the TV?
Not quite sure what you mean?
Love all the little details you tackle to make things simple, organized and efficient. These little things mean a lot to me!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the ideas!
Could you do a video showing your sewing setup/kit? I have such a hard time keeping mine organized and tidy.
There’s a reel on my Instagram with my sewing box!
Clean, neat, bright and minimalist. I am
so inspired!
I’m so happy to hear that!
Lovely vid and I really enjoyed seeing your style and how you make it work. Can you please say where you got your rocking stool? It is gorgeous and would help me avoid a stiff back. ❤

Great odeas - thank you!
Where does the kitchen windowsill lamp come from? I LOVE it!
Find the links I have here: scroll to Living room sources Lights www.benitalarsson.com/sources/where-to-get-it
@@BenitaLarsson Thanks, Benita.
Hi Benita! Love your videos! was wondering where you purchased your rocking chair in the beginning of your video from?

I enjoy the aesthetic of this video. Very calming.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great ideas. Your home is lovely. 😊 I store our ironing board under our bed. 😉 I sew too. 😊
Cannot think why I haven’t thought of using the space under my sofa before! Great idea.
When I moved to a new apartment storing the laundry hamper/basket was a problem The solution was using a metal/plastic pedal bin and leaving it outside on the small terrace off my bedroom. You can always find a way!
I love that type of problem solving!
That's a great idea!! I got fordable baskets and hang behind doors haha
12:14 - 12:38 is so satisfying to watch!
You are the queen of storage solutions 😊
Aww, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing! It's my first time watching your video!! Keep the good work!!!👍👍♥️
i am thinking of getting a cordless drill.
Hello! What is the wonderful rocking stool you have at your desk?! (thank you!)

I’ll share how I organize my kitchen soon and will make sure to show it!
@@BenitaLarsson thank you!
Benita, first of all I really enjoy your miminalist tips. Thank you! I noticed you have a different sofa in your new appartment. I was thinking about getting the one that you had in your previous apartment from Innovation Living. Was there any specific reason why you don´t have the original one?
I wanted one with armrests and didn’t need a sleeper sofa here.
Even the drilling process is relaxing with Benita 😁
What a wonderful video !!!! Loved all your clever ideas especially behind the door storage & hanging hooks 🪝 loved the wooden thrifted apple 🍎 was a pleasure to watch. Enjoy your new home it’s beautiful 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
Det är alltid så avkopplade att se dina videos! Tack för ännu fler bra tips 🤩
Så glad att du gillar dem!
Dear Benita, I love the pair of jeans you're wearing in this video! Is it organic cotton? Could you please share what brand it is as I m looking for a good pair of organic jeans for a long time, many many thanks 💜💛💙
They’re several years old from FilippaK.
I am in the US, I have a white fire extinguisher. We are just getting fire blankets on the market. The variety in such things is limited in the US.
