How to build a basic treadle hammer. Part 1

This video shows the basic overview of how to build a treadle hammer. in part 2 you will learn what tools you will need, how to draw blueprints for use of your own materials. In part 3 we will demonstrate how to use our current understanding to design and build a 60 lb. inline treadle hammer.

Nice, I'm trying to get the stuff together for my first treadle hammer myself, did you ever build that inline version?

I went way off the rails after this and built a power hammer instead. It's almost finished and I'll have a video on that soon. But I will come back to this project.

@@MadebyKourmoulis just curious I read the other comments on here, you said when you upgraded your Hammer you may sell that treadle hammer? Just curious if you would still be interested in selling it? I have a sledgehammer and I have some 6x6s or 8x8s, but I don't have all the steel plates and brackets and components and all that nor do I have a shop to make some of that, especially the hardy hole...
If you don't plan on selling it that's fine, I just saw in a comment that you may be.

Quick question, why so tall? Is part of this going to be buried?

Yes the bottom of the horizontal 4x6 will be ground level and the 6x6 posts will be in concrete. Where it will be installed isn't ready at the moment. This allows me to build a temporary base in the meantime. But after building this one I'm thinking I'll want my permanent one to be an inline treadle so ill likely sell this one.
