  • I show my treadle hammer - how it works and how it's constructed + the accessories like top tools and hardy tools + blueprint. I don't forge anything in this video - if you want to se the treadle hammer forge steel do I use it in a lot of my blacksmith videos and here is an example • Making 2 viking hammer...
I use a 10 kilo hammer head and a spring made for a carport.

Love the workshop no expensive tools to get the job better still easy to repair and the added bonus you don’t need to go to a expensive gym for a workout kills two birds with one stone 👍.

I really appreciate you posting this. Your treadle hammer caught my eye early on. I am working on setting up a forge and foundry myself and I am interested in going as "Hands On" as I can but still want to be able to do things like damascus . Thank you, this is inspirational.

Very simple tool. That looks like it will do anything with all your tooling that you made. I like how you used a sledge to hold your tools on the post.

Nice mallet, or tread hammer; it's effective. You have my highest esteem!
If I ever start a forge business, it would be a good place to start. For what little I do, I only need a hammer and a small anvil (currently the head of a 5 kilos hammer).

I think I have a line on a cheap 20lb hammer. So as I watch you cycle through the tools the hammer strikes perpendicular, I'm guessing, about 6" or so above your sledge tool holder correct? I guess having it setup this way keeps the hammer at the same level and you just adjust the tooling? Sorry about the dumb questions but I hope that I can do this sooner than later. Thanks

I will not ever be able to do this myself, but I really enjoy your video's anyways. I have a very curious nature, and always wondered how blacksmiths worked in the past. That you bring this craft back is just awesome! I think in the next years electricity will go down globally, and then people have to rely on the old crafts. All I have seen about blacksmithing is in movies, here and there, in the distance. I will not bore you with all my questions, like what is the liquid you use to temper, oil or water, for I am not strong enough to even lift up a 10 kg hammer enough to make that treadle hammer. Thank you so much for sharing! I learn a lot from you either way! Have a beautiful day! xxx

@@rodricbr Thank you, Rodric, you restored my trust in humans a bunch with this. You are very kind and positive! I was quite strong in the past, though something happened and I got disabled. I now am not so strong anymore. Next to that, I am a near 55 year old woman, and not saying those can't blacksmith! Though for me, living in a city apartment with neighbours all around, I guess that will not happen anymore. That is okay, I love a lot, and I am reaching success in other areas! I wish for you, that you can make your dreams come through, which ever ones! Thank you for making me smile! Much love and a big hug to you! 🤗💖

Was the 10kg hammer head acquired or forged by you? If acquired, any recommendation where to source such a large hammer? I haven't had any luck. If you forged it yourself, then where does one get a steel blank that large? I've also had no lucking sourcing that.
