My first ever runescape friend was Taco75, back in 2006-2007. We met at the cows in lumby, added each other, and never spoke again. I don’t know why I’ve remembered his name all of these years, but if you’re out there Taco75, I love you and miss you bro. I hope you’re thriving and in good health.
My first friend was someone called count Dennis I was killing bat's in taverly dungeon with a d long and full mithril I offered to help him collect herbs from the chaos druids and he used to give me the finished potions he made.
bro they did so much content in 2005, desert treasure and desert + elven regions, barrows, farming and slayer, tzhaar fight caves... And all that in just one year holy moly!
My first member friend in grade 7 was "War devil92". He let me play his account back when account sharing was against the rules. If you're out there war devil I love you and miss you buddy, tried to add you in-game many times but you're not found anymore. Thanks for the memories.
Castle wars was absolutely my most nostalgic places for me. When I was like 14 my best friend from school and I would farm out quests and save up for items just to go play castle wars using them. I’m 32 now and still remember those times
Sameee, when I was like 9-10 years old I went there on my level 5 account (i sucked and never even bothered training combat haha), my account was Blue Frog53 (still my account to this day, with a new name ofc) and the people in cw found it funny that a noob like me was just tagging along for the fun, so several times I amassed a team of protectors who kept me alive at all cost, and I was able to smuggle the flag by having them escort and protect me haha, castle wars is my fondest memory from the 2006-2007 era for sure :')
The statue and grave apparently aren't a tribute to The Old Nite, but i'm sure there is a tavern somewhere in the game with the same name, so there's that I guess.
I’m glad I enjoyed OSRS in its golden year of 2006. I played a little when the GE come out but I fell off very shortly after. Just started again 4 days ago, joined the OSRS Discord, and immediately received help, guiding me in the right direction and about the OSRS wiki and how helpful it is. The server even has a bot that automatically detects what you’re talking about (if you want it to) to link you to an article in the wiki regarding said topic. Everyone in there is super helpful and incredibly nice, and not afraid to throw a little classic “free armor trimming” style humor in there. I love this game and its community with a passion.
I remember 2006. I was 13, would play after I got off school with one of my classmates. Runescape was so alive, the wilderness was absolutely packed. It was big fish eat little fish all out war whenever school got off.
Damn this brings back memories, I started playing in late 2006 till about 2010 when my account got hacked and Jagex banned my account for something the hacker did, was so soul crushing as i had completed most quests and was gearing up to finally fight the barrows brothers. Was such a fun game, thanks for bringing back all those amazing memories.
Wow, the history of Old Nite was super cool. Very short part of the entire video but I've always found it strange that there was a random hill with a statue of a dude in the middle of the wilderness. Thanks for including that.
Turns out the statue was actually there before he passed away & is unrelated to the old nite, however there is a pub in ferox enclave called 'The old nite' which has been made in his honour 😁
I'm only 3 minutes in but I already know this is going to be an absolute banger. This must have taken ages to edit and a lot of hard work. Awesome job dude.
I can still remember the first day I played RS it was 2006 I was in school and 5 of my friends played so my neighbor helped me get started. I quit in 2011 because it just isn’t the same, but I still watch videos and plan to come back when sailing is released
Obligatory nostalgia comment. But damn do the memories flood back seeing classic RuneScape. I started playing this back in 2001. I remember running to the library during lunch to get on one of only the 4 worlds available(accounts on the same network couldn’t be on the same world) a top 2000 leaderboard, which was super easy to get on, had all of the party hats at one time, one of which I sold for a rune medium… Man those were such good times. I use to sit on a computer all day playing RuneScape, now I sit on a computer all day playing work. 😞
I would LOVE a more in depth series of this video, if you're up for it! A deeper dive into each year, maybe a few years in each vid or something like that where you talk about each big update a bit more in depth(for both OSRS and RS3). Just a thought! :)
Run Escape is what I i called it when I first found it in 05 because I i only knew about it from my cousin who wrote the website on a piece of paper for me. I didnt get to try it out for another 8 months, so i was looking forward to playing Rune Escape for almsot a whole year 😅 I had my official start not long before the 06 Halloween event, and ill never forgot how awesome it was. The Mr Pugger music choice while talking sbout bots sent me flying 😂 I remember loving the run energy restoration and the tool bag, but left after eoc, of course. I was there to vote for the wildy back, but left shortly after EOC. I forgot how soon after they polled us for OSRS. It felt like FOREVER to me. Didnt start playing osrs till the mobile launch and i love what it grew into. Wish i got to start earlier both times. I didnt realize how new certain things were when i joined up. Thanks for the video!
Little disappointed the RS3 side of things went a bit neglected in the vid! What about arraxor, gwd2, the end of the storyline while guthix sleeps started with sliskes endgame, the release of anachronia. All eventful updates are they not?
I noticed it too, and tbh I feel like it's moreso a creative decision based on viewership and/or the person that runs the channel himself either not having much rs3 knowledge, or interest, or a combination of both - which is totally fine.
My first ever runescape friend was itelefast, back in 2009. We met at this Runescape Private Server called Battlescape. I don't know what happened but we haven't talk since then. I miss you itelefast and i hope some day we'll meet again and lure people on varrock multi wild like Jojo3000 with Green Partyhats on. We dupped and shit. Love u bro.
The amount of research that must've gone into this video must've been insane. Great video, and I love the impartiality towards rs3 or osrs, a lot of videos about the history tend to focus on one or the other.
My world changed when I logged into runescape in 2002 for the first time...I was only 11, used all my saved birthday money over the years to buy my first pc and persuade mom to get dial up internet...she never received a phonecall again
I remember playing one night on our family pc. I'd never used a pc, so it took me lots of phone calls to even know how to sign up and login. A few logs cut and a fire burned that night, and I had to log off. Magic.
9:05, Horizon starts to play. A tear comes to my face. It's incredible how that song is so nostalgic and powerful to many players. Probably because it could be unlocked 2 tiles away from the gates to Taverley and that would often be where free-to-play players would find their first limit.
the only person i remember on runescape was BahamutGold why because he promised me rune items and reset my password. im not sure why he done what he done but i hope hes happy with what he done. ill never forget my 1998 first account. ahhh the early 90s so fun.
Firstly, this video is great! Awesome work. Secondly, what is the music that starts about 12 minutes in? It unlocked a nostalgic memory but I can't place it!

Shoutout Tkaloc
Plot twist, taco75 was your dad upstairs.
It's goku75 but nice to see you again 😂❤
Badboy0123 he was on my friends list for many years. He gave me a set of full iron and never logged back in.
I forgot how funny the twisted bow at the farming guild was, they just accidentally put one on the ground and ruined the economy in an hour
shoutout to the twisted bows still in the game from that glitch
Is this the famous Award winning Queen Hanannie ?!
bro they did so much content in 2005, desert treasure and desert + elven regions, barrows, farming and slayer, tzhaar fight caves... And all that in just one year holy moly!

The best times man, I remember how badly i wanted 94 mage for ice barraging at castle wars. I would've gone MAD with power

Heavy focus on the OSRS updates here over RS3.
Niice, i love the Bill wurtz inspiration. Very well made, good job!

welcome back!
I remember 2006. I was 13, would play after I got off school with one of my classmates. Runescape was so alive, the wilderness was absolutely packed. It was big fish eat little fish all out war whenever school got off.
You just had to be there to understand..
The wildy was by far the best part. I had f2p pures and dominated, it was great.
I'm calling it now - you've been chosen by the algorithm! I love the nostalgia blast, great video.
There's something beautiful about the first 99 naming his character after a mob boss in Earthbound
What a nostalgic rollercoaster this was. Just relived my whole childhood
It just occurred to me that this game carried me through 95% of my life. I started in grade four. I'm now 32 years old 😂.
I started in ‘03 and I’m 28

This
Your The Old Nite segment was touching and made me tear up :(
This was nice to see, lots of nostalgia watching the game grow again. Thanks for the time put into it!
thanks for watching!
bro, what a great video! ty for this masterpiece!
The sirpugger music playing as soon as you started talking about bots is the funniest shit ever
I really miss FunOrb and Arcanists...
Man what a video, the detail you bring, the little and harmless sarcasm..congratz Man..perfect one
really nailed the bill wurtz style presentation
:D
On the 27th of January 2007 the legendary UA-cam video "Owning green drags" was posted, revolutionizing the runescape video indutry forever
As someone with 274 days played on Runescape, this video is the most beautiful thing I have seen in 2023 so thanks for that brochacho 🐷
Super high quality video what the fuck? We don't deserve this.
I am proud to be one of the first 1000 players! Just started OSRS again too haha. I remember Asgarnia being released like it was the biggest deal too.
I'm only 3 minutes in but I already know this is going to be an absolute banger. This must have taken ages to edit and a lot of hard work. Awesome job dude.
thank you so much
The "saved Jagex but-" line is ominously funny
I can still remember the first day I played RS it was 2006 I was in school and 5 of my friends played so my neighbor helped me get started. I quit in 2011 because it just isn’t the same, but I still watch videos and plan to come back when sailing is released
i clicked the like button just to remember to come back to this, after watching the video, its gonna stay :)
Man dropped the Kerning City soundtrack at 8:10 and flashed me back to my childhood.
We all know the saying, you never truly quit Runescape, you just take extended breaks 😄
“People got angry when mining became AFK-able.” I AFK-ed my way to 99 in 2018 with the Motherlode Mine.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
EoC was honestly one of the major deathknells of Runescape. It's the main reason why I quit, though not the only reason.
But what about Legacy mode?
@eztremegaming26 Legacy Mode was a bandaid fix. You do significantly less DPS and some fights are not even doable with it.
8:15
Oh hey, that's when I started playing the game. That exact little banner is what I clicked on to start Runescape
Only recommendation is to have the year in reference on the screen, or maybe a visual timeline
wasn’t expecting to get hit with so much nostalgia. Great video

as a new player I've been waiting for this video to come out, super excited to watch :)
So much attention to detail, information hidden in plainview.. Fantastic & hilarious overview.
Dude, this video is amazing!!
Took me a minute to get the reference in your editing. Now I'm double here for it.
This is the video that puts you on the map. The references and presentation is so good!
thank you!
Wasn't expecting to watch this video, but got sucked into it, very entertaining!
damn never watched a vid that long, this shit was captivating and full of memories
Run Escape is what I i called it when I first found it in 05 because I i only knew about it from my cousin who wrote the website on a piece of paper for me. Wow this is an amazingly edited video, can't wait to see your channel blow up
Only a few minutes in and its so full of historical memes. Wow.
I had a mental breakdown in a public library dying under varrock in the sewers.
The song at the very end 47:18 is called "Background" from the Runescape OST. Also nice vid 👍
Just started and can't wait to watch all of this.
I didnt know the eastern lands existed in rs3. Idk anything about it, but looking at the map, it should be a great addition to go with sailing.
Yeah I was surprised that he didn’t mention played owned portals from RS3.
Not one mention of Vorago, KK, GWD2, Araxxor, AOD, Solak, Elite Dungeons
I was Rboy444 back in the day. That account will never return, but I still return to OSRS regularly as WyBott412.
The sudden Kerning City music at 8:09 hit me in the feels!
I used to looooveeee clan wars when it was in the wilderness, miss those days
Thankyou for this video, unlocked some deep memories for me ❤
Maplestory music, nostalgia is huge in this video for me
Little disappointed the RS3 side of things went a bit neglected in the vid! What about arraxor, gwd2, the end of the storyline while guthix sleeps started with sliskes endgame, the release of anachronia. All eventful updates are they not?
Nobody cares about RS3
Not if nobody highlights the exciting content. Elite Dungeons weren't even mentioned...@@dylanchampagne2270
I noticed it too, and tbh I feel like it's moreso a creative decision based on viewership and/or the person that runs the channel himself either not having much rs3 knowledge, or interest, or a combination of both - which is totally fine.

The use of Kearning city brought me back
wow i thought i had played from 06-11 but it ws more like 05-14 lol and now im back because of leagues. and having fun.
welcome back! remember, you're here forever
My world changed when I logged into runescape in 2002 for the first time...I was only 11, used all my saved birthday money over the years to buy my first pc and persuade mom to get dial up internet...she never received a phonecall again

Algorithm be praised another history I guess and about the iconic mmo that took mmo's by storm. Nice job
OH YES ANOTHER BLOW UP VIDEO WELL DESERVED YOU ARE THE BEST UA-camR
income king
I miss merching in Falador park and varrock west bank! Having to talk to people to buy items made the game more social and fun!
Wish they would bring back Stealing Creation and Arcanists tbh. Amazing minigame/game. Amazing video as well!
good video dude i loved all the maple music in the back
Fantastic video, put into perspective how fast time goes by.
I have many memories, but the sleeping bag, for some reason.. that one was sent to the pits of hell. until now.
damn.
What an epic video! Thanks for summing all this history up
EOC gave us the dark ages of Runescape but also birthed OSRS, which was worth it.
48 minutes, do I wanna watch all of that? Yes I do
It was great, thanks for taking us back
I like this imitation of "history of the entire world i guess"
such a nostalgic video. Smiles all around, 10/10 5 reeten

Runescape music always hits, honestly the best video game soundtrack IMO
Double nostalgia when the Kerning City music hits
Oh mate the amount of feels I got from this video!! what a masterpiece
Void armor wasn't released with pest control. It only had xp rewards at first.
bro i remember getting membership to play runescape 2 for the first time
Dude this video is amazing wow, thank you for this 🥰
so nice that andrew gower took the time to come speak to us 0:51
paid him a lot of money to be a guest speaker, thanks andrew!
This is a beautiful production so creative ❤ so nostalgic 😅
man i wanna get back into rs so bad but it feels like i don’t even know where to start or what to do
Nice vid, love the nostalgia trip
i dont usually comment but had to bump for algorithm
Bro whipped out the kerning city music! BROO
Bill Wurtz + Internet historian mashup. Noice
Played rs heavily from first months of release till late 2018.. basically seen everything rs has thrown at us
Amazing video and glorious sense of humour!
the only person i remember on runescape was BahamutGold why because he promised me rune items and reset my password. im not sure why he done what he done but i hope hes happy with what he done. ill never forget my 1998 first account. ahhh the early 90s so fun.
12/10 Video, Well Done!
After watching this I am absolutely certain that 2024 will be the most year of runescape.
the statue in the wilderness actually has nothing to do with the old nite. you can check
the algorithm got it right this time, good shit
I instantly liked this because of the video you based this on. Good stuff.
Firstly, this video is great! Awesome work.
Secondly, what is the music that starts about 12 minutes in? It unlocked a nostalgic memory but I can't place it!
Great vid, helped pass the time while grinding herb. Getting ready to do SOTE, you mentioned it as one of the hardest quests so I am ready.
Personally SOTE was pretty easy. The puzzle segment was a bit tedious though.
The hardest quest currently imo has to either be DT2 or SotF.
@@Jorvalt Finished the quest, it was easy. Reminded me lots of Mourning End 2. Mm2 was a tough one for me, ngl, i was a low lvl at the time though.
@@missar3689 lets go king, SOTE grind finally over!
