Honestly Bandos doesn't sound like the nicest god out there, goblins are just chillin'. and thank you, definitely could use more explosions - i'll figure out how to add em
Honestly Runescape has some of the best quest dialogue out there. Thank you! And thank you for watching, it wouldn't be possible without an interested audience
It would be kind of an absurdly large idea but imagine if they did a League set in a specific age, and you would pick a god to follow and that would determine what regions you would have available and open up all sorts of crap like special quests, gear, pvp, etc. Would be a wild time.
Such a touching video. If only we had known those were the good old days. It is impossible to replicate that magic. The yearning for it is so strong; RuneScape was truly an unforgettable experience for me. We can always return to RuneScape, but it will never be as it once was.
This is a great video. Always been curious about RS lore, but it's quite overwhelming to try to keep up with all of the details of each quest, book, miniquest, etc. Hope to see more like this from you in the future :)
Not gonna lie I've not watched the video fully (yet), but so far it looks mega good, to the point that I am saving it for later as a main screen content!
there isnt much divergence yet. OSRS is barely in the 5th age whereas rs3 is balls deep in the 6th age. OSRS is steadily moving towards the 6th age transition though and we will see how they plan on diverging. So far it's a fairly similar path
i miss it so much before the wilderness ditch we'd trade at edgeville, people would get pulled over the wilderness line in the middle of a trade and lose their canons
Amazing video!! I was searching for this for si long... Thanks a lot! It made me realise that osrs lore is a bit boring, but in a good way: You don't need to focus in the stories behind anything, just need to enjoy the content. :)
is this paddy the baddy? Fkin awesome video g played rs nearly 20 years ago and started again this year casually, I didn't know any lore it's actually really good
Actually, somewhere with the release of Theatre of Blood in OSRS, and Archaeology in RS3, the two games' lore are conjoined and cannon right now. OSRS's lore as player takes place as though you're living in the 5th age, whilst RS3's lore as player takes place as though you're in the 6th age. Quests made before 2013 (and some released after) are specially stamped with "5th age // historical", that have taken place in the past and exist for story narrative/reference purposes.
It's more of an alternative timelines with slightly different events than a cojoined lore. Rs3 for example barely touches on other vampire families and whole storyline is basically about Drakan family with Vanescula basically becoming ruler of Morytania, Arianwyn is lord of Cadarn clan and alive, Fossil island was unreachable till certain event in 6th age, Sliske is same troll in every timeline and nobody heard about kourend in RS3 but we have eastern lands which are islands south east of Menaphos. Also currently RS3 is already post 6th age as we are now in "age of chaos" because Zamorak took another L and all the gods were banished again.
This isn’t quite true. While RS3 has different ages and story content, OSRS and RS3 have their own separate canon, but it’s clear the devs enjoy taking inspiration from each other. If this was the case, things like Zuk and Vorkath wouldn’t be new to the player in the 6th Age, for instance.
Goddamn, what a brilliant video. Production is amazing 👌 I've always been interested in the lore of RS but the ADHD is just too strong, and when I'm doing quests I absolutely am not in the mood to read lore (usually I have to do the quest in order to do what I actually want to do) 😂😅
Shame so many people spacebar through quests. The lore in this world is kind of incredible. Looking forward to the new spin on WGS. The whole thing with the Wizard Tower being burned down due to accident/misunderstanding feels like a modern retcon. One of the barbarian notes seems to be written by the guys responsible, noting they were kicked out and were mounting a rebellion.
Same here! It'll be interesting to see how Defender of Varrock sets up WGS, and how differen't they'll make WGS. Honestly there's so much written in books or notes, or even hidden in dialogue sequences that easily slips by you. The lore is fantastic
Thank you! Most of the lore videos I've got cover the respective quests of the races spoken about, but that is an idea - covering the fifth age, since it's what we're living. Will add it to the drawing board!
great vid! maybe since sailing is coming soon(tm), you can do a vid on islands/lands mentioned in the lore (like the isle of garmr, acheron, or the eastern lands)?
Interesting thought but I don't see that being likely - He was a mortal (who had immortality due to the dark altar and then the altar in mount quidamortem) and then went on to linger about in a spirit form that we briefly see, whereas Zaros was one of the original gods that had been banished just before the others. Plus, I'd say Zaros wouldn't be entirely into the whole experimentation on humans thing like Xeric but who knows? Anything's possible
The lore is such a huge draw for me. I always mix things up though, which is fitting because if the world was real legends would twist and change as people talked, traveled, gossiped and chose sides. And then there’s some people who do not care at all and just want to make some gp and kill monsters. All players are roleplaying whether they know it or not 😂
Pretty sure you left out the elder gods creating all other plains and gilenore was the last. And how guthix became a god and how he even created the world gate in the first place. But that must be a after world Wakes thing. Also no lore on nex and his human generals torva, pernix, and virtus. Must be a rs3 thing still but man there lore is the absolute best. Regardless awesome video ❤
Thank you, appreciate the support! Yeah I didn't want to mention the elder gods (too much) and the backstory of Guthix as it's not 100% confirmed within OSRS, though it'd be easy to assume that it's most likely the same lore within that period. Same thing with Nex - the lore isn't as developed, though I could have mentioned a bit more about her rather than the sparse mentions I did. I'll most likely look into Nex more in detail when I do a video about the God Wars in general... who knows! But I appreciate the comment, and will keep these things in mind :)
we brought the mind-spike back from Gielinor, and in a fit of fear and rage, i broke the mind-spike in two in front of my older brother... i felt it explode with power. i now know why it exploded with such violent power... the destruction wasn't possible for the power of the air magic in the magic staff mind-spike, it rebounded, and settled into the nearest thing it could find, which was me. now i have myself to fear. i fear my newly found power... i fear utilizing it, even for good purposes. it is a forbidden thing for a Christian to have magic coursing through them. i'm cursed to forever bear the power to change elements, air, water, earth, fire... from element to element, and control them, like a wizard of the elements, and of Gielinor. along with being resurrected early, and having an eternal being, i'm not even able to die and pass on the elements to anyone, save it to my offspring. the game RuneScape is about a real place... don't take the lore lightly. it's actually real, and has its place in our world as well. i've seen and heard too much to believe otherwise about this matter. i'm trying to give people here a heads up... Gielinor is already a part of the world we live in. we only have so much we can do to keep from takeover, and abandonment. if you really want to know what i'm talking about; haven't any of you noticed what happens in dark corners, or other obscure areas of a room or hallway? have you ever heard whispers, or other things in the corridors of your common stores or homes? ever hear a rustle, then find someone came out of one of those dark corridors, only to discover the corridor they came out of was a battlefield for the moment? do you know what it looks like in a battlefield? it always has bodies, and if you see giant bats offed, or rats the size of your common big house dogs... and they're offed by someone that looks strange? that's probably someone from Gielinor, or inspired by the place. there's a constant, ongoing battle, between the seen... and the unseen worlds. Gielinor is a part of the unseen worlds, there are monsters here, from there. i've seen it. i've experienced it. if you've ever seen this stuff, would you deny it? you don't want to be a liar, do you? am i not right? Gielinor is real. along with many other worlds. wake up.

@@Gravitybind Oh for sure, You'll be playing any game you enjoy thinking it's only been a few hours but really hours go by so fast. It is truly crazy to think how long it's been for RS and that it's still going strong to this day.
I'm not sure where you're getting this info about "elder dragons", because the only reference to such creatures is recent and regarding player owned farms. I've been playing Runescape for over 20 years and you're the first person to ever mention them. After some quick googling, you appear to be talking about a fan theory and not actual lore.
@blankspace178 The Book of Folklore within OSRS references elder dragons, though it does state that they are generally considered to be a myth. According to the wiki you can find the book inside the Wise Old Man's home.
