I was listening to Electric Funeral by Black Sabbath and someone commented saying Dirt has a similar sound. Not surprising since Black Sabbath inspired a lot of bands with their heavy sound and Alice was probably one of them. I remember reading the Alice in Chains biography (good read btw) and seeing a quote saying something along the lines of: 'Jerry Cantrell did for Alice in Chains what Tony Iommi did for Black Sabbath back in the day'. So true, they're both legendary bands and so similar with their heavy sound and lyrics. It would be cool if you could do some Black Sabbath lessons, I think a lot of their songs are nice & easy, like Jerry said "sometimes the simple stuff is the best" 🤟
yea you can hear a lot of Sabbath and Zeppelin in Soundgarden too, good shout though, Black Sabbath is on the list!
Dude, you have a knack for explaining music. I love how you admit when you don't really know what the musicians( Jerry, stone, etc...) are doing. Seems like you really observe what they are doing. Btw I'm a washed up drummer and don't know much about guitar playing, but I would have loved having you as an instructor. Just ashamed that I gave into addiction and sold my kit for a bender. Since then, I haven't made much out of myself

Killer lesson! But i do think my ear hears in that last lick of the solo (your favorite part) hes playing the e open when hes playing the 2 and 3 on the b. So the e is picked open and the b goes 2-3-5-(so they are the same note)-3-2.

It's a Dunlop MC404 CAE (Custom Audio Electronics) so basically a Jim Dunlop wah that's been pimped by Bob Bradshaw :-)
