My sister absolutely loved Dave and the DMB. She's passed away. Listening to him and the band always makes me feel so close to her. She had "wash out this tired notion, that the best is yet to come" tattooed on her waist. Her ashes are at the Gorge where she loved spending labor Dave weekend. I miss you Catie. Here's to you, #41!
We'll wishes sent your way
God bless her, and God Bless you my man!! She liked good music!!
Rest easy
May her kind soul rest peacefully among the angels
My condolences
So this song can be played in under 20 minutes.
Yes, but not to its full potential.
It’s better when shorter.
If you have stuff to do sure, but if you're looking to chill may as well listen to a 20min jam.
whatever it is it always bring tears to my eyes... lol i guess thats why they play it longer, so it they can spread the melancoly
This is one of the best ones live. 20 min of magic! Some people don’t hear it. Shame.
There is something so special about this song, whether it’s just Dave singing it for five minutes or the entire band jamming for 20 + minutes at a live show, it is literally the best song ever written
Think how talented you need to be to sound like this LIVE.
Was thinking the exact same thing... not many people do anymore. Stapleton comes to mind.
it's not talent you know?
a lot of practice my friend
Practice
Montelm4l mann sure, that’s why hundreds of thousands of people pay to watch you play each summer. Wait ... lol
#41 has spoke to me for years. Saved me. Inspired me to continue on. Thanks for putting these little shows out in the world Dave. Well done.
Hate myself because I liked this and made it 42 likes haha
here we go saved me . fucking saved me. such bs bro and you know it. what in those lyrics saved yo8u go on
Listening to the line "remember when you and me used to play for all of the loneliness that nobody notices now" while he plays alone during covid to a socially distanced audience finished me and it's only 9 am..
Whether it’s stadium crowd, an intimate setting, it doesn’t matter...This man, this band, and this song are passion incarnate. It’s always a pleasure and an inspiration to listen. To the band members: I’ve been following DMB for over a decade now after being exposed to you guys through a friend of yesteryore, and I just want to say thank you for all you are and do. God bless you all & may the universe grant you finest fortune friends 🤘😎🤙
This is probably my favorite song of theirs. It's so... beautiful. The long musical jam just is so stirring and emotional.
You know, I'm 64, have been to so many DMB and Dave and Tim shows over the years I lost count. Didn't put in a request because so many of his songs mean so much and mark so many special memories with my wife and 3 children at his shows. This tune is among my absolute favorites, both of my daughter's have quoted lyrics from Sister at each other's weddings from their maid of honor toasts and the lyrics from this song are framed and have been hanging on their bedroom wall since they were young teenagers, and my son loves almost anything from DMB and insisted we bucket list seeing DMB on 9/4/2016 at The Gorge because he was concerned they might not return after they decided to take a year off. Sadly, it marked Boyd's last show. Thankfully we all saw them again in Saratoga in 2018 and 2019 and as Covid draws to a close we are anxiously waiting for the return to Saratoga so the family, and spouses and girlfriends and friends can gather on the lawn on a warm summer night to share another great moment and memories. Thank you Dave, Tim, Carter, Stefan,, Leroi, Buddy, Rashawn, Jeff and Boyd, we miss you all, and have made your music a part of our life since 1994.
Something so pure about just Dave and his guitar. The whole band is brilliant, but the simplicity of this set up is sweet.
41 likes for #41
Now you've limited me from getting more likes. ;-)
I remember being younger - 16 years old - picking up Crash after work one afternoon. I listened to it that night and heard this song. Honestly I cried. With everything that had happened to that point: my fathers illness, his death, many years mom just lying in a state of depression, the eviction - this song just struck a nerve and has ever since. It's so beautiful. It is my favorite song of his and one I love to play myself. He'll probably never read this, but thank you Dave for your amazing sincerity, heart and passion for what you do. I'd listen to albums every single night and they helped me through some of the worst moments anyone should ever go through.
Dave is sincere. I have met him and became friends with his amazing, I mean AMAZING mother, who has been through so much. He is sincerely grateful for your comments. She is the torch that keeps the family together. Val is a saint in my opinion. Never doubt Dave's sincerety. Keep the faith and keep on keeping on!
It's is very much a song about the trials and tribulations of life. I always love how his songs are like art....you see/hear what you like......but his Lyrics are some of the best....When you want to hunker down in your feels..
Reading your comments hit about as hard as the song, god bless
This song saved my life
@@m.c.master4622amazing special reply! Thank you for sharing this special message!
On the unlikely chance that you're reading these, Dave....that was a great touch starting playing this song at .41 seconds into the video.
Love your music, man.
Keen call, bravo
Now you have 41 likes and I'll just leave the numbers like that
Nice touch that Dave starts playing at the 41 second mark! :-D
Music that heals our troubled bodies and souls during these trying times.
It's nearly 2am here in Canada and I'm just home from a shift at the hospital as a frontline worker. Can't quite sleep. I used to have a very special relationship with this song. I've listened to it thousands of times. Then 5 years ago some personal issues happened and suddenly listening to it became too emotional for me. I saw this on my feed as I'm lying here. I couldn't help myself. Within the first 3 cords the tears were starting to splash all over me.
Dave's strum patterns are so underrated. so subtle but it makes him.
How does his voice sound the same if not better than it did in 1996 when this came out???? This music takes me back to my childhood. Makes me think of good memories. Wow.
He starts playing at 41 seconds too 👍
Love. Love. Love. #41. Best. Song. Ever. And thank you Dave Matthews and the DMB for sharing your immense talent and deep love for people and the world with us.
Might be the greatest #41 version I’ve ever heard. 22 year diehard fan.
Yeah, that kind of blew me away. He sounded amazing on this!
I agree first concert 94.
@@BrianJohnson-or5hw HORDE '94 was my first. Check out the 4/20/02 version at Ottawa feat. Bela Fleck though. It's a trip to space and back in a great way. ua-cam.com/video/S828_f0-dQI/v-deo.html
For me Live at Luther College #41 will never be surpassed. #Perfection
Same here. Saw him in '97 and felt pure, true joy at that concert!
What must it feel like being in the same house while this is going on 🤯🤯
I can only imagine..I would constantly be sitting in awe watching him play.
I bet its different for his family, IMO, like same way tom brady’s family watches him play. im sure its exciting yet familiar. They are part of him and his talent, they fuel him and he lifts then up. I believe he is a gift too the world personally. I have some of my foundest moments in my 38 year old life listening too this man’s voice. Dave you are wonderful.
Doesn’t get any better; cheers.
Never got into Dave until Live At Luther College and it was this song that made me a fan.
I won my wife's heart covering this song.... and she isn't a fan.
You're a brother from another mother Dave.
We love you
I’m a kindergarten teacher in Illinois who has loved and admired you for 28 years. When you’re having a sad day, please know that you alone have been my sanity in this crazy time. Your lyrics touch my soul on a wave length and deep level that I don’t think most humans are capable of accessing. Please keep yourself and your family safe and healthy. I don’t know what I’d do without your music. Thank you for being you.
I served Dave expensive tequila about 2 years ago when he came to Minneapolis to play for the Super Bowl. He's gracious and humble, just like you'd imagine. The funny thing is I didn't recognize him under the hat, but when he said "what kind of tequila do you have?", He sounded just like he does when he sings.
My 2020 spotify wrapped told me this was my most played song of the year. Now I'm here. Lol thanks Dave🙏
The most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard!
He may be better than he was 25 years ago. Thanks, Dave, for doing what you do.
I just dedicated this song to my newborn son born on 12:41am 7/19/23. It's been my favorite track since its release and this version is just perfect to sing along to him. One day I hope he will play like Beauford with me.
Usually I can drink 4 beers on the intro.
lol
Love him and his band, must have listened to all his music a thousand times. Was a massage therapist for 20 years, always cranked him between clients and while cleaning at night. Got sick for long time and never got to see him, lost everything when sick. Still when I am down I put one his music and it lifts me up and reminds me of better times.
Dave u are a true god send brother; unite people of the United States; 1 luv !
This song means so much more to me now and I grew up w Dave. Whew! That Tim Reynolds guitar solo back in the day…tears! 😢
So so so so so so so so good. I love the different chords for the intro. Thanks Dave.
Played my absolute favorite song on my birthday!! Thank you Dave
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎈🎁🎂🎊
Mee too (about the song and the birthday)! He gave us a gift ;)
Post Covid we have to appreciate how special this is! Weird times and a performance that will never be repeated!
So uplifting. It feels like I am driving with the top down feeling a beautiful vibe as the wind blows through my hair ❤️🙏👍👏
All time favorite for years now.
Like an old good friend, and a joint on a porch swing.
So many memories flood through my mind! Took me back, tears, joy, sadness!! Chills up and down my spine. I had to take out my meet n greet photo from 02' at Riverbend.
One of the Best songs that i've had eard in my life...thank you so much ,Dave
Omg I can't get enough. I've been watching the drive in's every Wednesday nights and last Friday's Radio City show. Thank you, Dave, for doing all of this for us during these interesting times and keeping us in mind, as we have your music in mind. Best song of all time! Wish it was longer!
Did you mean radio city music hall? Dave and Tim?
@@zachgalante3577 yes, thank you!
That's easily my favorite concert ever recorded. Amazing what those two guys can do with two guitars and a crowd.
@@patricm.3718 'Save Me' from that show is out of this world.
Jesus. What a absolute legend.
this sounds has gotten me through the toughest of times
Dave is one of the greatest all time love this song. I have to say I miss the old days when Leroy Moore (May he Rest In Peace) and Boyd Tinsley were apart of this band. But Dave is one of a kind and no one can mimic his unique style
LeRoi
Twenty five years later and this is still so amazing! Thank you Dave!
Love this song❤️
From Thailand😊
Just what my hurting soul needed. Thank you for being you, Dave. You have made my life so much richer over the past 25 years. You're one of the great ones.
The chords He grabs. I have absolutely no clue what's going on. Love it :)
It’s crazy how Dave never fails to take me back to better days. He got me through some of the darkest times and just life growing up, truly the sound track to my life. Can’t thank you enough.
This song definitely takes me to a different place.
He is simply amazing
Lovely lovely damn good song. Seeing DMB in Durant OKlahoma in July! Can’t wait
Just like seeing him in the 90s, beautiful, so thankful to find this, needed you back right now☺️ Holy crap, I needed that cry, love you man❤️🌲🔥
Going to a DMB concert is better than Christmas!!!
So much fun with over 20 years going to Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI...which is actually one of Dave’s favorite places to play 🤟🏼
The moment he started singing, I was instantly back in my high school freshman year. Memories of playing this song with my friend who passed away almost a decade ago came flooding in. We used to play this song with two guitars and sang it while drinking. He absolutely adored DMB. Thank you for the amazing music Dave.
Where is the chill bumps button??
Right! We need one for all DMB songs!
Oh my God, he just said Caroline!!!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Omg, jusg stumbled upon this. #41 is MY FAVORITE song, all TIME. Made my day ffs!
It’s seems that everyone had heard this song for the first time when life was rough
Perfection! I never get sick of watching him perform, timeless. Stay safe everyone!
HBD Sharon ... this will be forever one of your songs ! We loved you the way you loved DMB ! Requiescat in pace 😚😙
Absolutely amazing. God bless this guy!
Thats why its called Dave Matthews Band - because he IS the band🥰🥰🥰🥰 so amazing🚀🚀🚀🚀
Why the 10 dislikes? One of my favorite songs ever, Dave has always transcended music. Beautiful performance. Hope everyone is doing well
Beautiful rendition of this classic. I love hearing his tunes when theyre stripped down to the bones.
I play full-time for a living, and I play this song at nearly every one of my shows. It’s a joy to play, especially as a looping artist who puts down the percussion and bass guitar charts as well as two guitar parts, and then later a very extended guitar solo. This music, what an amazing vibration to it.....🧡
One of the forever favourite
One of my friend who’s now up in heaven showed me this song. Ever since, this holds a special place in my heart, so thank you Dave for such a heartfelt and soulful version! God bless everyone on this pandemic. Cheers!
I'll never get enough of this song ❤ #41
Perfection.
Damn! By far my fav DMB song and this version is awesome. Cant wait to see them live...and see Carter B. kicking ass behind the kit. One well rounded group of talented musicians...
The cure for our pains, as individuals and collectively. Fill my soul up Dave. You are the medicine that heals me... And I won't spill a drop.
Absolutely my favorite song. This performance is amazing.
#41 and Lover Lay Down are my fav DMB songs
Best version I've ever heard! I wish to hear it every day of my life.
You really need to check out his performance from Listener Support.
41 is Dave best tune. And he has many many many a great tunes! This is my favorite.
I absolutely love this melody . I see a certain face hearing it every time. ❤️
No better voice out there magic pure and simple
It's a song of world class!!!!!!!!

If love was music then I would be the happiest man on Earth. Thank you Dave...
Pure perfection.
my companion’s name is also caroline! she’s a doctor in nyc and she has been caring for covid patients in the ed, the icu, and rehab. we have been apart since early march because of the quarantine and we miss each other very much. #41 is one of her favorites and i can’t wait to send this to her! 🙂
:(
Thanks for the song, Dave! Thanks for your service on the front lines, Caroline! #41 has been my favorite song forever. 10 DMB shows in 4 cities in 3 states since the 1996 Crash tour. Now I have our children listening to him. Cheers!
One of my favorites. Takes me back to being younger and heartbroken over some loser😂 still love it though
Love for this song 🙏🏾🎧💙
Blows me away someone can play so well, such a good song.
Been a fan since 94 my man, will be for life
This is incredible, to get such a rich sound with just one guitar and voice! Amazing version
Love it, love it, love it ...
This genius sounds as good as he did in 1995. Blown away every time.
My heart is full
Live or not can u really tell the difference with this band? Pure talent
Holy Shit Dave. Every time I think I've heard the best version of a song I find a new version where you've out done yourself. Dont ever stop
Loved you then... Loved you now!! always relevant always from the heart!!
Wonderful..thank you x and thanks to Caroline for her extraordinary work.
Christ. Just solid gold.
Best 41 I have seen a while.
