@@vishalkalicharan7710 Yes! Why is there no Elevator Man or Combat movies?
I know dragon ball am I right
Sonic the Hedgehog - If they hadn't reworked his design. That movie was hated & fans wanted it canceled way before it's release.
But they listened and made the changes. This an example that listening to the fans is a good thing (instead of being arrogant and attacking the fans for not aligned with studio's stupid idea).
Am I honest opinion back in 1995 1996 I wanted to do my Sonic the hedgehog movie aside from the first design mine was going to be a combination of both the video games first 2 animated series and the Archie comic series the movie series now has completely changed from what the original story was.
Thank God the studio ACTUALLY listened
Yeah it was also one of the biggest video game controversies of 2019.
This just proves that some film makers actually CARES about the fans opinions 😁👍
You didn't mention Disney's delayed, controversial and still not released live-action reboot of "Snow White", which nobody wants and I hope is never released.
Eisner released the last two years' worth of wokiness because too much money had already been sunk into them. Making even modest millions when only another few was needed to finish them just made financial sense. 'Snow White' wasn't very far along though and should have been ended if they weren't convinced audiences actually wanted live-action adaptions. But with this one, they are offending everyone. Yeah, regular-sized but non-white dwarfs for something set in a land without Asians or Africans. C'mon.
Probably it hasnt come out yet. If it did it definitely wouldve made the list.
Disney just delayed inevitable waiting for this remake)
Same goes the other new Snow White.
Snow White and the 7 heroin addicted scumbags
VENOM had the writer from 50 SHADES OF GREY (who is also directing THE LAST DANCE)
MORBIUS had the writers from GODS OF EGYPT (Who are also behind MADAME WEB)
And KRAVEN THE HUNTER has the writers from TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT
AVI ARAD doomed this cinematic universe the same way he doomed TASM series

Avi Arad - Producer of first 2 Spiderverse films and Executive producer of No Way Home
@@SirsasthNigam. Phil Lord and Chris Miller made Spiderverse what it is, not Arad
As for NWH, Arad was at minimum capacity, just like in Blade and the first X-Men movies
'Cats' hit the 'uncanny valley' - faces were too human, female cats had breasts, the scale of bodies was wrong. No wonder it creeped people out!
I LOVE cats! (The animal) but the movie was a bad idea. Maybe it wouldn’t worked if it was animated. There’s something’s you can pull off outside of animation
Cats was already hated
It should’ve been an animated film.
Cats is a terrible film. One of the worst I've seen. It's one of my favorite movies 😁
The
Cats was already hated? Yeah, see, that’s kind of what the title of the video is.
I saw a stage production on video. The costumes there looked so much better than the later movie.
The only decent thing about The Emoji movie is that Jordan Peele was so offended over being offered the role of Poop Emoji, that he decided to quit acting, and focus on directing instead. As a result, he created some of the greatest horror movies in recent years.
Jordan Peele was supposed to play the Poop Emoji before Patrick Stewart? I can't say I don't blame him for turning that role down quickly.
Get Out is terrible. I never bothered to see Us, and Nope was just barely passable.
@@theywouldnthavetocensormei9231when you want to be different sooooo badly
@@octaviocontreras2239 it's just not a good movie, it's predictable and cartoonishly racist.
Get out was great. The other two sucked.
Furries found _Cats_ to be repulsive, which is _not_ a good sign.
😂😅🤣
I actually liked “The Hunt”. It’s action packed and darkly hilarious. It’s like Hunger Games exclusively for adult viewers. I think it’s overhated.
It was fun. And played the politics in a amusing way that wasn't heavy handed or even one-sided
agreed! The Hunt was a fun movie, my sister and I watched it on a whim and really enjoyed it!
To be fair, most of these films actually ended up being bad anyway.
Sometimes you just know. That's the whole point of trailers, to give you the hook. If even the trailer looks terrible, it's probably a terrible movie.
_Except_ for "Joker (2019)."
@velociraptor4you3291 Well, I did say "most", not "all". Joker was good and maybe two others movies on this list were ok. But most were pretty bad.
@@46sn29 True. And actually, a few of the movies that show up here I personally feel _aren't_ terrible at all, and most of them I haven't even seen.
"I really hope they make a movie version of Cats" said no one ever in the entire universe.
Twilight was hated by my 3 younger sisters for very specific reasons. 1st sister a nurse, the entire series encouraged self destructive teenage behavior. 2nd sister theater major, the lead character is an obvious Mary Sue, the dialogue is lame and the premise is stupid. 3rd sister worked at a theater at the time and frequently read books, same criticism as 2nd sister about the source material and after seeing a bunch of teenage and middle age woman screaming and talking dirty going to the premiere really hated Twilight.
Also, The Lost Boys (1987) is ten times better.
@@KEN-1991 that one is a classic, and anyone who says otherwise thinks all the movies on this list of shame were Oscar worthy films.
Sounds like they have good taste.
@jakerocinante1133 Bella is way too passive to be a Mary Sue.
“Twilight encourages self-destructive teenage behaviour” heard it all before pal. Change the record.
*Cats looked so stupid the second I saw the trailer for it. And there’s no way the 2016 ghostbusters had more hate than cats.*
Also the emoji movie was lame af.
2016 Ghostbusters was pretty bad
@@train_go_boom2065 when it comes to ghost busters. The original 2 in the 80s will always be my favorite ones. Also both of them are on Hulu if you have it just a FYI.
everyone in it just looked creepy and it had such a good director.
"50 Shades of Gray" is basically "Twilight" fanfic
Not sure if it's true, but 50 Shades was actually written initially as a Twilight fanfic.
Back to Black. While the movie isn't out in America yet, many people have criticized the movie for exploiting Amy Winehouse’s pain and trauma for entertainment and that we already have a documentary that treats her with humanity and empathy. The still shots weren't any better either.
Back to black is a great film.
That actress looks nothing like Amy
That is a silly reason not liking a film
never heard of it, but let me add to the hate because who gives a shit about Amy Winehouse. she's not deserving of a box office movie. at least not before Janis Joplin or Kurt Cobain or any number of more talented artists who also died at 27.
@@whitedevil2Then why comment?
Battleship was stupid! As a Navy man there's no way that one guy would have been allowed in the Navy, much less an officer after the crimes he committed early on!
The only redeeming scene is the entire movie is the "MightyMo" battle against thecaliens
Cats was a train wreck of legends. 😂🎉
I LOVE cats! (The animal) but the movie was a bad idea. Maybe it wouldn’t worked if it was animated. There’s something’s you can pull off outside of animation
I really don’t think Ghostbusters deserved all the flack it received. One thing I _will_ say though, is that Chris Hemsworth’s character was unnecessary.
You know how sometimes food smells so bad you know it tastes bad, and even if it tastes somewhat better than it smells, the smell is still too off-putting to enjoy it? Same can apply to movies.
I don't remember anyone up in arms that a pale Scotsman played a Spartan in 300. People are weird.
hooo boy, but using a Scotsman to play an Egyptian in Highlander... well, words are still being spoken.
@@petertrudelljrwell what about using a french actor to play a 400 year old Scotsman?
For me Joker,TMNT(2014),Amazing Spider-Man were pretty good so they didn't deserve any hate.I didn't care for Ghostbusters (2016).
You forgot JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS
I see where you're coming from, but I don't think it got enough attention to have the amount of hate that a lot of other movies did on this list.
They forgot Jem. It was an abomination.
I should point out that very few people in Japan including GITS’s mangaka had any problem and were actually thrilled with the idea of Johannson playing Major. I mean the movie still sucks but if the Japanese and the series creator were happy about the casting, maybe we should get off our high horse for once.
I listened to someone interviewing Japanese women about her casting, and the reason they supported it was because they believe they are ugly. Many Asian women believe this and have adopted Caucasian beauty standards.
Very true. In fact, Johannson actually looks a lot like the Major, and there's no reason to assume a robot would resemble any certain ethnicity. The real problem with the movie is that it didn't have the levels of meaning that the source did, but otherwise really wasn't that bad.
Jersey Girl was dead on arrival after the bomb of Gigli.
The only thing good about Dragon Ball Evolution is that it was so bad it got DB creator Akira Toriyama to become involved in the franchise again. He worked directly with the production team on DBZ Battle of the Gods and everything after it until his passing this year.
What was great about The Hunt was that main character Crystal didn't give a f*ck.
It was successful in pissing off both extremes, which made for a great film.
@@joelwillems4081Betty Gilpin is awesome in that movie
I didn't think half of these movies were that bad. Just my opinion.
Movies are hated before their release if the trailer reveals that the canon of a beloved and/or historic franchise is not respected and honoured. If there is a leak indicating a "bait and switch." If a studio defies future paying customers and casts somebody that is universally hated. If there is the slightest hint of pushing social agendas onto audiences. If beloved characters are unceremoniously killed off to make way for a new, diverse cast.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) proved that.
Thankfully, they tried to avoid it by redesigning Sonic.
I loved Battleship 😭😭
that was a heap of fun especially the bit with ACDC while they fire up the ship!
Fun fact: the emoji movie had a rushed 2 year production which left not enough time to fix the script
To this day, I still don’t understand the hate for the 2014 Turtles movie. The movie is a pretty solid adaptation of them
How can you long at those turtle designs and say the adaptation was solid?
@@PhenomsServant4 Their faces might not be the prettiest but the turtles never have been pretty, and I’ve seen edits of their with their original head and that looks worse.
And the designs fit their characters:
Leo is dressed up in ninja/samurai gear indicating that he’s the hardest training of them all and takes this stuff seriously
Donnie’s covered in technology because he’s the brains
Ralph is dressed up in fighting gear because he’s the muscle
And Mickey is the youngest so he dresses how teens unfortunately dress and act nowadays. Wannabe gangsters
I think its because of how ugly they made the Turtles .
@@trackerdark-heart3043 They aren’t as ugly as yall think they are
I avoid many Michael Bay movies . I hear they look great but he gets things wrong in certain franchaises . I hear he got the characters wrong in Transformers.
It’s no joke when I say that Tom Hooper had no idea how visual effects work and doesn’t know much about the anatomy of cats
From what I can tell from this list not every story needs an adaptation or remake
Ppl who have never actually read or seen the original 'Ghost in the Shell' clearly didn't know that the Majors character is specifically called 'a western model' cyborg
The Lone Ranger 2013 should've got a mention.
That was a film that couldn't decide if it was a thriller western, or a comedy. I was enjoying it as a straight western!
@@TheCatBilboI also heard Johnny Depp got a lot of flack from the Native American community over his portrayal of Tonto which tbh made Jay Silverheels and Michael Horse's performances in the TV show and the 1981 movie "The Legend of the Lone Ranger" look more like Shakespeare.
i would watch a movie about the making of 'the lone ranger' the behinds the scenes stories from that are wild
The upcoming Disney Snow White remake starring Rachel Zegler which comes out next year in 2025
I recently saw The Flash online on Amazon Prime (for free, thank God!) and I can safely say I wish Ezra had been arrested wayyy earlier 😅
I kept hoping that the Flash would keep on saving his mother until the film just faded to black!

Sorry homies,don't rush the hate
I will admit Dragonball GT is cannon before I admit Dragonball Evolution exists
2:35 It's always Fox News
I'm not surprised.
And where was the "granddaddy" of "hated before release" films, "Hulk" by Ang Lee? An unfinished trailer--that had to be rushed in time for a Super Bowl ad spot--was met with so much hate and derision, that even when more finished and polished trailers were released in the months before the film's release, the damage was done.
I actually love The Interview 🤣
I thought 2019 CATS was a terrible film, the worst thing ever created!
I’m glad that your finally waking up to reality and admitting the truth.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey too deserves to be mentioned. I mean, turning children's property into the next horror franchise was bound to ruin people's childhoods.
Theres also the Banana Splits movie and I saw talk on that Peter Pan is free to anyone now so expect a Peter Pan Horror shortly .
Technically Winnie the Pooh is about mental health problem. Each character represent a disease. So not so children property lol
"Steamboat Willie" is next for a horror movie makeover...
I'm sorry I like gods of Egypt but I thought it was a good movie
I agree.
Ok but Emoji Movie, Ghost in the Shell, and Ghostbusters 2016 are some of my favorite movies though 😭
That Ghostbusters movie did not deserve all that hate. I don’t get what people’s problem was
What’s funny is that a fair few of these movies became popular and/or well loved after they were released and still are. Definitely the epitome of the phrase “never judge a book,” or in this case, a film, “by its cover”
TOP 10 Ugliest Robots
I actually did not mind the emoji movie for what it was and I was a huge twilight fan and still am so no complaints there.
IMHO Battleship was great. It had funny moments and serious moments. The aliens were a pleasant change from the plain old grey.
You forgot Megamind VS The Syndicate
Ghostbusters had way too many SNL cast members. It was distracting.
6:57 Twilight was not hated before it was released as far as I can tell.
And whilst I agree that 5 years was to early for a reboot to write off The Amazing Spider-Man completely is unfair and disdainful.
As bad as the Ghostbusters reboot was , Cats was still the worst by far. It definitely deserved #1, even over Emoji and
I liked gods of Egypt. Was way more fantasy than historically accurate and since race doesn’t seem to matter in casting these days I don’t see the problem.
Amazing video Rebecca from watch mojo of movies hated before they were released in cinema, fantastic job. I really enjoyed like ghost in the shell movie and what about Alita battle angel. Do a top 10 or 20 hated tv show hated before there release or after too.
Cats… ugh!
Too this day, I refuse to watch said "Ghost in the Shell" live action movie. I've seen enough bits and pieces of it, to realize the "Movie" tried to tell way to much of the story, again.
It's amazing how many times "white guys were in it" was used as a reason to hate these movies.
Movie is coming out: has white people in it
People on the internet: “I just remembered white people exist… FUUUUUUUUUUUU”
Worst part is the hypocrisy of the people who panned Gods of Egypt for casting white people, are the the same people who demand black people be in everything, regardless of if it makes sense or if the original character isn't.
I sense fragility in this thread. Copers
@@nonamewillbegiven2412 How is making a factual observation fragile and how exactly am I coping?
I'm kinda shocked Star Wars Episode 9 wasn't mentioned at all (Not that I hated it before or after the release)
Cats's messy plot? In reality, it entirely lacks a plot, being based on a poetry anthology. I recommend the book over the musical.
From my memory, Twilight wasn't hated before it's releases. It was hated after it's releases and became a joke after they divided the last book to copy Harry Potter and Hunger Games who both came out with their part 1 of their last book movie that year.
Sonic didn't make this list?
I'm sick of The Flash getting a lot of hate over Ezra Miller's crimes and some uneccesary changes. The hatred should be going onto WB for ruining the DCEU since they stupidly rush it instead of waiting 5 years to assemble the Justice League.

CATS is fun onstage but really the only possibility for making a movie of it successfully would probably be animation. Instead we got this disaster and the additional humiliation of throwing in the marginally talented Swift in the hope that she would fill seats. Nothing could save this disaster.
The original stage play is available on DVD.
No Dark Tower? A story of massive scope and covering multiple worlds and timelines just being turned into a parade of Stephen King Easter eggs. Pisses me off to this day.
Don't forget the new Mean Girls and Joker: Folie à Deux, I'm sure Joker: Folie à Deux will win a million awards but I don't think that fans will love it as much as the critics.
I am one in a few who loves the Silent Hill movie. The second one was " okay " . They turned it into a typical horror movie and rushed it due to the 3D fad .
The Emoji movie being pick by the studio and canceling a Popeye animated was such a dumb movie
Dead Trigger (2022) If You're a Film Based On a Mobile game starring Dolph Lundgren and Lil' Romeo you're a bigger bomb than Heavenly Sword (2016) tragic man just sad
The amazing Spider-Man and Tmnt hold a special place in my heart
Me: "Amazing Spider-Man" but "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (2014) after finally listening to any people's receptions about films and TV, not so much now
Sometimes you just wonder how this idea got to an executive's desk, let alone greenlit??!!? And for some WHO ASKED FOR IT? Making it an obvious cash grab all the way to just baffling.
Should've added some of the live action Disney remake movies to this list. Not to mention, the horror version of Winnie the Pooh.
The thing that I always get really annoyed by is when people look at the ghost in the shell movie and call it whitewashing. Despite the fact that chances are 99% of the people that claim that it is whitewashing literally have no idea what it is they are even talking about.
Well, let’s face it nowadays even as Japanese animation has become much more “mainstream“ there are still a lot of people that don’t know a lot about many many projects. For instance, people don’t seem to realize that in the world of ghost in the shell and individual can have their brain implanted into a completely synthetic body about as easily as changing the battery of a car. In fact this is even brought up in one of the shows where it is pointed out that the main characters body isn’t even a representation of her actual physical body that she had when she was born. But actually a mass produced model that has been heavily modified for police and special operations stuff. meaning that basically saying that the film is whitewashing is pretty stupid. Similar to how doing the white washing thing with the avatar film is quite stupid
Yes, avatar the last Airbender was deeply influenced by Asian and Benny Eastern cultures. After all the various bending forms are all derived from various forms of martial arts. Water bending is based around tai chi, earth bending is based around kung fu. I believe fire bending is based around taekwondo or maybe it’s judo. And I don’t quite remember what air bending is , regardless it seems kind of dumb to claim it for whitewashing when literally one of the primary characters in the animated series was for all intensive purposes, a white person.
Yes one person not all of them. Were there white people in Ghost in the Shell? If your answer is no then it should have had an appropriate cast.
Hmmm no
@@rmcgowa1987 technically speaking if you really want to start splitting hairs, do any characters in the majority of anime look Asian at all?
Seriously. Not only that, but in the original ghost in the shell, it’s never even mentioned that they are in Japan. Now, yes, this is confirmed in later versions of the story such as the standalone complex timeline, but that one has no connection to the original film, which intern basically doesn’t have any real connection to the original books. so unfortunately, as far as I’m concerned, it is a completely moot point. We are talking about a universe where an individual can replace their entire body like how you and I can replace a pair of shoes.
Not only that, but they can be made to look like, however, they pleased.
Think about it this way. Out of all the anime movies that were released around the time and all that how many can you say with confidence had the characters actually look Asian? Off the top of my head I can only think of maybe five. But this was due to very specific circumstances and budgetary things. The whole white washing thing with ghost in the shell in my mind has literally no real bearing and no moral ground to stand on. If anything, the only real issue at least in my opinion of the live action filmis the fact that they tried to use bits and pieces from the source material from both the different anime series and the movie. Along with obviously their own things.
I didn't know Gerard Butler was in Gods of Egypt. Gonna have to watch it now.
Look it up. Japan said they were okay with Johansson playing the character because they said that if Hollywood had chosen an Asian actress, it would have been an insult if the actress wasn't Japanese.
if you were alive in 2008-
thanks for making me feel old Watch Mojo
Where's the little mermaid 2023 and snow white 2024
All DVDs and Blu Rays are buried Under The Sea, so know one will ever remember that the film existed. They are no longer Part Of Our World .
What's about Disney's Pinocchio and the little mermaid ? Both are the biggest failures made on Disney history
Just realized alot of the cast in Ghostbusters was or is cast members of SNL
Gods Of Egypt, The Flash, and Ghost In The Shell are all my guilty movie selections.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! I still haven't watched Cats (2019), and I don't think I'll ever watch that movie even on TV for free. 🤣
Sensible! I got 10 minutes in before giving up it was so bad.
Disney's live actions are a mess, between messing with the original characters, their race, looks or things just being forgettable,
The Ghostbusters remake was absolutely guaranteed to be number 1 on the list. That movie was hot garbage and should NEVER have been released. The true fans of the series will never accept that one as cannon. Twighlight I thought got more hate than it deserved though. Ghost in a shell I think people didn't understand the whole inspiration of Major and that movie was actually pretty good too.
I'm pretty sure the flash movie was a box office dud because it was just a terrible movie. It had so much potential and so many amazing elements but they managed to fumble every step of the way. And don't get me started on the terrible VFX. Cough cough microwave baby
All of these just prove a point us film buffs learned a long time ago. If you don't start with a good script, I don't care who you have starring in the film or how much money you throw at the special effects, your movie is going to stink. Period.
I see no problem having scarlett johansson playing in ghost in the shell. First she's a robot, second her race doesn't matter to the story, third it is set in a futuristic cyberpunk world
And the people behind the tv series said her cyborg body was not supposed to look Asian.
Okay I agree with a few things, but including TMNT on this list is one to far. Seeing as the Turtle brothers are different types of Turtles, yes there was some bad ideas but look at it from someone that grew up in the 80s and 90s while watching the animated Turtles along with three live action movies and a live action tv show which then switched back to animated. Also, the MAIN character in Gosht in the shell is white, go and watch the anime of the same name. Also, I didn’t mind the 2016 Ghostbusters, apart from the rewrites which was given due the lost of the one of the OG Ghostbusters that is greatly missed by every fan, so please give the 2016 Ghostbusters a go just for the laughs and yes you can make fun of Chris in the movie
#1 definitely deserved the preemptive hate. Sony learned their lesson and gave us "Ghostbusters: Afterlife", which was much closer to what the fans originally wanted.
Peter Pan & Wendy’s trailers suffered getting so much dislikes before it came out.
Japan already made 3 Death Note live action movies, and it may have been like ten years since I watched them but I remember them being pretty good, and accurate to the source material, so there was no need for Hollywood to make one
At least Death Note gave us the "manga, anime, netflix adaption" meme
