Life certainly imitated art when Woody Allen got involved with his ex's adoptive daughter, eerily similar to how his middle aged character in "Manhattan" dated a 17 year old girl. There is no way that he would be portrayed sympathetically today.

All of these relationships churn my stomach, especially Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his adoptive first cousin when he was 22, and she was 13. Charlie Chaplin also tended to marry teenagers, with his oldest wife being 18 when they got married.
I was shocked when I first heard about the Jerry Lee Lewis story. I was just working on a pitch for a Jerry Lee Lewis biopic where he's depicted for who he truly is: a predator. The fact that Myra, his cousin, was in middle school shook me to my core. Same with Aaliyah and R Kelly. I was pissed off that the Aaliyah movie romanticized the relationship. I can't imagine how traumatized Aaliyah was at that time and the fact she carried that trauma all the way to her death is even sadder.

It's not just scandalous, mind you, it's also illegal. The age of adulthood is 18 in the United States. Therefore, the age of consent must also be 18. Which means that dating a 17 year old or anyone younger than that is illegal and will land you a spot in federal prison. These celebrities have committed a serious crime by engaging in pedophilic activities by choosing to date minors. I feel like you need to understand that.

It's actually not pedophiles. That term is used for people into pre-pubescent kids. Its ephebophiles that's used for people who are attracted to teenagers which is everyone on this list. Also ages vary depending on the decades and states cuz they used to be the norm.
Here's another added bonus Don Johnson also was in a relationship with his TV daughter Jodi Lyn O'Keefe back in 1996 when she was 18 and he was about 42 and now his daughter Dakota Johnson is engaged to Chris Martin and there was that age difference.
I feel like dating younger is seen as glamorous and reflects positively on the older person, so I don’t see this kind of stuff going away. At worst, it still ends up on the “exciting/funny/steamy” end of publicity. I had a front row seat for a marriage that was hurt by its age gap; I hated seeing what it did to my mom. So, even if a gap isn’t a crime, I always have a low opinion on such relationships (I don’t say anything though…).

Most teen years are as a child so that is the assumption most people make. They know if they say “adult” or the actual age most people won’t think it is the medias place to make judgements about two consenting adults.
Anytime the media is vague or summarizes something instead of giving the details there is a motive behind it.

He also kissed Kristen Dunst and called her “young lady” when asked about kissing a 11/12 year old which is gross, Kristen had to defend herself in front of adults who thought it was okay sadly (mind you, he could’ve refused to kiss a minor but he clearly was okay with it since he’s dated minors before) He also said in an article that his favorite $ex scene he ever filmed was with his ex girlfriend who was also a minor when they dated. Edit - Nick and Hugh were both in their mid 20s when they started dating their wives. Also, age may just be a number, but there's something to be said about seasons of life. An 18 year old's brain is still developing, there is a lot of learning and maturing still going on and they don't have much in common with a 28 year old who has been "adulting" for years. However, a 28 year old and a 38 year old are in pretty much the same season of life.
