@riversedgeoutdoors6208 just so you know Josh literally Barely threw an arrow tipped with a beast and it barely went in and the blades deployed. They're good broadheads my worry is how big the feral is
I've killed 4 nice bucks the last 3 years with the sevr 2'' and 1.5'' and none of the deer ran out of sight. They are a fantastic heads but they have one small flaw by design. When they hit the rib cage on the back side of the deer the blades pivot just like they should. Only thing is during pivot, they reduce their cutting area by as much as half when coming out of the deer, and that makes for a fairly weak blood trail. So far I've not had to use the blood trail, but if one runs off, it's going to be hell finding it.
I know you acknowledge the pivoting head is by design, but the original theory still stands: a pass through is the goal whether it's one inch or two inches or more. Even a smaller exit with a pivoted blade is better than, say, a 3 inch Shwacker with a small entry and no exit due to getting caught up or deflected in the animal.
The Beast looks pretty great, but that pricepoint though... I will say, I hit the handle rope inside of my rinehart 18-1 target and broke the little wing off my sevr and they sent me a whole replacement broadhead! Points for the customer support from Sevr.

I purchased 5 of the Sevr 125gr to hunt for whitetail last year, but they never survived long enough to use in the hunt…. Four of them were destroyed during the first shot into the “Block” target. The blade engagement tabs snapped off when they hit the target. I used them on my crossbow shooting at 383 fps, 22 inch Black Eagle Executioner arrows, and no extra added on weight. No I didn’t shoot at an angle and No I didn’t shoot them through any other medium except for the worn out “Block” target. I disagree. I tested the sevr 2.0 when it first came out (the video is on the channel). I shot it through a 2-liter pop bottle with water, and the blades bent. Every sevr I shot is a one-and-done head. They don't bend every time, but there are times that they do.
I think all expandable heads are 1 and done..I wouldn't reuse any of them..I use a hybrid muzzy and I consider it a throwaway also..At the price I'd rather buy a new one .
@butleroutdoors2188 I get what you mean, and I appreciate the comment and for watching. Lately, the broadhead is getting a lot of hate. In my opinion, it is more about who manufactured it than the design itself, and he is just trying to show how the bone-evading technology works at avoiding bone and passing through bone, which will help with increased penetration and pass-throughs.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors Oh for sure! It makes me laugh when people never shot them or tested them, but still bash them. Look at those tests Josh has done, those heads are tough!
I have sevr’s and don’t use them but I think I’d use the beast broadheads. I won’t buy them at that price but I’m not into mechanicals anyways. I have a handful of fixed heads that I use.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors And saying the sever o rings are a disadvantage and worry about taking in and out of quiver is accurate to a point. You can also say taking the beast in and out is a huge disadvantage also because IT DULLS THE BLADES THAT ARE EXPOSED!
do yourself a favor and try a pack of swhacker original 1.75" . i think i have tried every head on the market over the past 45 years. im done trying new heads, i have came to the conclusion that the original swhacker is as close to perfection as a head can get. you can also tape them shut with 2 to 3 wraps of electrical tape and practice with the exact head you are going to hunt with. they also have the lowest profile in flight of any head on the market, for the best accuracy. i have never had a deer go out of my sight with them, and 99 percent of the time you can just touch up the blades and use it again. i have lost more on pass-through's than i have damaged. i only have had one head that got a slight wobble after a pass-through and it was buried deep in the ground, probably smacked a rock in the ground.
i don't care for two blade broadheads. I surely wouldn't use one with pivoting blades like the Sevr. If I used a mechanical, I would explore the Grim Reaper 3 or 4 blade broadheads.
I would take the sevr anyday everyday over the beast. They have a stronger ferrule and dont rely on a spring to deploy. The beast you only get two ,way over priced imo.
i’d personally pick the beast my opinion may be a little biased because i’m a big fan of josh bowmar but the way he talks about it and how long he worked on it and over 500 designs before he found one he liked and the proofs in the pudding he shoots huge african animals with them and it works very well
@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I didn't say you. I said @D_Boone didn't know the whole story about Josh and Sarah. They catch so much hate from people in and out of the hunting community and they haven't the slightest idea of what happened. Josh and Sarah are both good people. They got caught up in someone else's illegal activities. Then out of the other 95 people that were also charged that DIDN'T know they were doing anything illegal, Josh and Sarah were "high profile" and so the state of Nebraska USED them as an example! Had to pay like 200k in fines all together and do community service in a state they didn't live in. Then on top of it, Josh, unlike a lot of other people, came out on UA-cam, and said you know what I accept responsibility I should have known the law changed and baiting was no longer legal, even though we used an outfitter who was the ones doing the baiting we assumed it was legel. So they had to plead guilty to conspiracy..... They don't deserve the hate they get. Josh is a super good dude
@zachniverson8816 but claiming ignorance of the law doesn't make someone innocent. I won't support them either. Dude also burnt his truck down during a "controlled burn" lol
With the Beast, you're paying the price of a single bevel monolithic head but not getting the lifetime warranty or durability. Sever at least make their heads affordable enough to not sweat it when you break one. I can spend my money once on a single bevel broadhead like a VPA and have it forever. Backed by a no questions asked watranty. I believe the biggest reason everyone is jumping on the beast broadhea is because its innovative and has the cool factor. I dont believe they kill anymore effectively than a sever would. The lack of a new type of bone avoiding technology wasn't a problem before with the severs. If Im afraid ill hit heavy bone, ill shoot a single bevel/ heavier set up. But to stay relevant as an influencer I guess you have to jump in the hype train every time or else youl be left behind. Im just always weary of things that are being sold to solve a problem that already had a solution, the same way, but at twice the price. Thank you for the video. God bless.
You make great points, I've killed over a dz animals with sevr but more then half exit holes have been just over half the full cut size and a exit hole usually produces the most blood on the ground so half the size of entry isn't what I personally want. (I hope seve makes non pivot head) I think the beast will make full cut exits (I hope) but they are not cheap. I just killed a nice reindeer in Greenland with the new sevr hybrid and yep small exit hole compared to entry. But the fixed blades of the sevr did help with a better exit. Now just need it in 2inch cut.
The seve 1.5 gets excellent penetration, but I agree, the blood trails aren't the best. My Hybrids just showed up, and they look sweet. I can't wait to test those out as well
Beast broadheads are not functional. They need a different system because the blades never cut much more than an inch. It avoids more than bones. My personal testing says they aren’t worth it. If you’re worried about hitting bone get some magnus stingers. Not a mechanical but very effective. And reusable. And Very accurate.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors Ballistics Gel with a layer of cardboard frount and back and at the time a fresh deer rib in front and back. Out of 10 shots with an 80lb compound. 720gr total arrow weight. The best wound channel was 1.2” I wasn’t impressed. And anytime I hit bone on impact the blades would roll. Could be that I got a bad pair but regardless they didn’t meet expectations.
Man, I appreciate that knowledge and the fact that you are debating it with data. You're the first one. This is very insightful and will help everyone debate if this head is what they want in their quiver.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I have 4 beast broadheads and tbh I haven’t opened the package yet. I’ve been shooting Sevrs for 3 years now with no issues. But will probably try a beast broadhead on a whitetail this year. But to answer your question. No I have not tested them.
If you shoot your beast broad head at a target you have to be able to push it all the way through the target. Pulling it out they say is not good for the broad head and can cause it to break or fail. Another down fall of Beast
I think the bomar is a great head and designed well! The price is too much compared to similar heads. The sevr has been proven to be the toughest .mechanical on the market and it's less expensive.
Aluminum is not tough stuff I have used sevr 1,5 and 2.0 and 1.75 I have never had any blades bend I can promise you one thing sevr is the toughest and go look at Josh video in slow motion shooting a 2 liter sprite and the beast broadhead opened up in flight so just like him I emailed him it’s like total silence of the Broadhead opened in flight you got problems I have never had any sevr blades be a issue but if they did bend I would put new ones in before I used it again now I did have a 2.0 tip bend but I was using a Ravin r29x crossbow and shot a small buck in spine quarter to me so it slammed into spine and ran down all that heavy bone deer died but that tip bent I still have it sevr sent me a envelope to send back but I have not yet but they have since redone the tip so we will see
I'll have to go back and watch that video to see if I can pinpoint the part you are referencing. Over the years, the Sevr heads have been fantastic. I have always been a huge fan of the 1.5s, but with the new Hybrids, those may be my new go-to broadheads
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors it’s a video he made with his 200 thousand dollar slow mo camera and he is shooting sprite 2 liter bottle and it opens up before impact
This guy makes zero sense as far as bone deflection. 😂 Titanium is also 2+ times stronger than that aluminum. There is no contest here. Several for the win.
The bowmars are a joke and are nothing but another industry poaching case trying to put thoer hand in your pocket. Those heads are junk, shoot a quality fixed blade and quit worrying about a rib 😂.
Still not convicted yet everyone loves to hate on the Bowmars. They helped an out fitter put out stands and bait piles when they whole visit for there hunts . They and the outfitter said they didn’t know he was setting other clients on top of the piles in off hours aka poaching. The bowman’s didn’t hunt on the piles or off hours and openly said they were just trying to lend a hand to the outfitter when they would go out and didn’t know about his side dealings. Believe that or not they were not convicted of poaching
@@mikeftball44 because they pled for a deal, that's why. Convictions don't prove anything. Many guilty people are never proven guilty in court. the 'innocent until proven guilty' claim that so many people want to throw around these days, is such a dumb line.
As hunters and good Americans - I think you also need to look at where the product comes from - both are made in China. However, only one of them is designed by a convicted poacher ;)
I like how people just repeat marketing "They have German Blades, which everyone knows are great" Based on what? Surgical scalpels are made in The UK and The US. What's the proof the German blades are anything but marketing hype?
@MichiganAmBushOutdoors on the broadheads, or on German blades? The reviews on the broadheads appear to mostly be marketing repeating crap like "everyone knows German Blades are the best" and "blades open at 950 mph" or 750. Or repeating flat out lies like the bone avoiding technology, that appears to have been ripped off from VIP broadheads who have been using similar tech for years now. The few tests I've seen result in beast broadheads (a name he ripped off from an older similar design) famous German blades breaking, not retaining and edge, and blades not deploying in gel.
I've heard multiple reports about 750 and 900, and to be honest, I don't know if either is true or false, and I mentioned that in the video. As for broadheads testing, I only watch one guy, and that's Lusk, because his process for scoring broadheads is repeatable and makes the most sense to me, and in his testing, the beast survived MDF and cardboard (if I'm not mistaken) and never lost edge retention. It also survived the steel test and didn't break until it was shot at a cinderblock. My review was about a head-to-head comparison as I don't personally like destroying products I intend to use.
Ultra light arrow and a mechanical, I’m 100% expecting to see a follow up video of how you lost a big buck😂 That setup is asking for nothing but trouble.
418 grains is perfect for a white tail. Hell, MFJJ completely passed through a buffalo with that. And he was using a grim reaper mechanical. It's not about weight. It's about how much KE you're delivering to that animal. Once you hit a certain threshold of arrow weight, your bow can no longer give it more energy because of how heavy it is. Just because the arrow is heavier, doesn't mean your bow is maxing it with kinetic energy. You do have a peak. And for most set ups, that's going to peak at about 430 grains of arrow weight. You can find KE calculators everywhere to find out what your maximum is.
For example, my set up is a Mathews V3X 29, 28 inch draw, 75 lbs, 430 grain arrow. My KE is about 84.8 ft/lbs. Shooting right at 300 fps. With a 500 grain arrow, my KE would be 83.78. And arrow speed would be 275. Why in the world would I want to keep the same KE, actually a little less, but have my bow shooting 25 fps slower??? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. There's no animal in North America that would require someone to have a 500 grain plus arrow to harvest.
@user-nx8kk9no3x I did not know MFJJ ran that light of an arrow. That’s great news. I did do a KE calculation and talked about it in my arrow build video but that’s for all the additional information. Good luck this season!

You got one thing wrong. Ain't no rib bone going to bend a sevr blade.
Look at lusk archery for an actual review of these heads and many others.
@jacob11b lusk does a great job and I even say that in this video and point you to his channel.
This was a side-by-side of what each offers.
@daveyboy8907 I would agree, but we will see how this head holds up.
My biggest thing is why are we so worried about rib bones, especially on a whitetail?
I'm not. It was a good way to explain the difference between the two broadheads.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors oh, I didn’t mean that you were, but all the marketing behind the Beast is.
Have you checked out the Sevr Hybrid yet? Amazing broadhead
Yes. We have a review dropping tomorrow on it 😎
Pass through both sides of rib cage on 2 deer last season with the sevr 2.0 robusto. Cut right through the rib bones. Blades did not bend whatsoever.
They are great heads for sure!
Great video brother. I did a video as well, so much hate in my comments too. Oh well, anyways I can’t wait to test the beast had this fall!
Thanks, man. I'll have to check the video out. I figured it would get some hate 😂
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors Oh for sure! It makes me laugh when people never shot them or tested them, but still bash them. Look at those tests Josh has done, those heads are tough!
@Foreverbowhunting84 Josh's testing on live animals sold me on this. Also, Brody Turner talked about his success with them on a podcast.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors Yup. Same here brother. Yeah I heard Bodie talking about that with Dan. That speaks volumes too!
I have sevr’s and don’t use them but I think I’d use the beast broadheads. I won’t buy them at that price but I’m not into mechanicals anyways. I have a handful of fixed heads that I use.
Sevrs are great. If you have some, I'd encourage you to test them to see the results.
Hot tip: double up the o rings on the sevr
You can also leave an O-ring on your arrow up by your vanes.
I picked up a few not used but not brand new in the package. Noticed 2 orings on a few of them. Are they known to open with one oring?
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors And saying the sever o rings are a disadvantage and worry about taking in and out of quiver is accurate to a point.
You can also say taking the beast in and out is a huge disadvantage also because IT DULLS THE BLADES THAT ARE EXPOSED!
@indianapublicland7429 I agree and mentioned that in the video.
For 30 bucks a piece bomar can keep them for himself..screw that I'll keep doing sevr haven't broken 1 yet
Sevr are great broadheads. I shot the Hybrid, and the accuracy was as expected.
What insert/ outsert is that?
Just the stock hardware that comes with the RIP TKO arrows.
do yourself a favor and try a pack of swhacker original 1.75" . i think i have tried every head on the market over the past 45 years. im done trying new heads, i have came to the conclusion that the original swhacker is as close to perfection as a head can get. you can also tape them shut with 2 to 3 wraps of electrical tape and practice with the exact head you are going to hunt with. they also have the lowest profile in flight of any head on the market, for the best accuracy. i have never had a deer go out of my sight with them, and 99 percent of the time you can just touch up the blades and use it again. i have lost more on pass-through's than i have damaged. i only have had one head that got a slight wobble after a pass-through and it was buried deep in the ground, probably smacked a rock in the ground.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to check them out.
i don't care for two blade broadheads. I surely wouldn't use one with pivoting blades like the Sevr. If I used a mechanical, I would explore the Grim Reaper 3 or 4 blade broadheads.
I have heard really good things about the grim broadheads.
@@driftlesshunter9200 check out the mega meat or dead meat. Awesome blood trails from my experiences.
I would take the sevr anyday everyday over the beast. They have a stronger ferrule and dont rely on a spring to deploy. The beast you only get two ,way over priced imo.
That’s a solid point about having a potential spring failure.
They sure do add to the cost per pound of deer meat!!
I thought the sevrs swiveled around bone?
The blade do swivel
@michigan AmBush gotta check out the TruGlo backflip
I'll have to look into that one. Thanks for the recommendation.
i’d personally pick the beast my opinion may be a little biased because i’m a big fan of josh bowmar but the way he talks about it and how long he worked on it and over 500 designs before he found one he liked and the proofs in the pudding he shoots huge african animals with them and it works very well
Im surprised it was the Sevr 2.0 and not the new hybrid in this comparison.
A Hybrids review is in the works 😎
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I'm looking forward to it buddy!
Could be the best broadhead in the world, but I still won’t give the Bowmar’s a dime.
You obviously don't know the WHOLE story
@zachniverson8816 i dont?
@zachniverson8816 well put!
@zachniverson8816 but claiming ignorance of the law doesn't make someone innocent. I won't support them either.
Dude also burnt his truck down during a "controlled burn" lol
Here in America its pounds not Newtons.
I can tell you're not an engineer.
Thanks for watching.
The seve 1.5 gets excellent penetration, but I agree, the blood trails aren't the best. My Hybrids just showed up, and they look sweet. I can't wait to test those out as well
And sevr wasn’t the first one with the locking blades… ulmer edge, Randy Ulmer is the og. Sevr bought them out.
I did not know that. Thank you for sharing that. I'll have to see what information I can find on the Ulmer Edge. I've never heard of these.
Wish they both had cut on contact tips
Beast broadheads are not functional. They need a different system because the blades never cut much more than an inch. It avoids more than bones. My personal testing says they aren’t worth it. If you’re worried about hitting bone get some magnus stingers. Not a mechanical but very effective. And reusable. And Very accurate.
What were you testing them on?
Beast is twice the price but not twice the performance.
Have you tested the Beast?
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I have 4 beast broadheads and tbh I haven’t opened the package yet. I’ve been shooting Sevrs for 3 years now with no issues. But will probably try a beast broadhead on a whitetail this year. But to answer your question. No I have not tested them.
Thats okay, I haven't either so I was curious to hear about your experiences with them.
You actually say nothing, no testing just word salled
I'm pretty sure I explained that at the beginning of the video. If it wasn't your flavor of a review, you didn't have to waste time.
The sevr has been good to me over the years and I will still continue to run them. I just picked up the 1.5 Hybrid. They look pretty nasty as well.
I never said it wasn’t and I never said the beast was better than the Sevr. I simply stated the pros and cons of each.
$83 US for 2 Beast Broadheads... Sad Canadian is sad.
😳😳😳 yeah that's crazy.
Not even if they were both free. I will stick with my VPA and cutthroat single bevels
The bowmars are a joke and are nothing but another industry poaching case trying to put thoer hand in your pocket. Those heads are junk, shoot a quality fixed blade and quit worrying about a rib 😂.
Beast broadhead is poacher approved.
😂
100% . Not just poach, but lie and poach!
Wow who is the poacher?
these heads are massively over-priced. and, buying them is supporting a poacher.
I dont disagree that they are pretty pricey.
@mikeftball44 I'm surprised the poaching comment didn't come sooner.
@@mikeftball44 because they pled for a deal, that's why.
Convictions don't prove anything. Many guilty people are never proven guilty in court.
the 'innocent until proven guilty' claim that so many people want to throw around these days, is such a dumb line.
That wasn't a really good video because you didn't tell us which one you thought was the best.
I highlighted the pros and cons but didn't explain my bad experience with Sevr 2.0.
Try a G5 MegaMeat…you can thank me later.
MegaMeat have crappy blades that break quite easily. There are better choices like Grim Reaper.
That will be in my quiver as well this year.
I've heard good things about the grims.
Shot a buck at 31 yards last week in Oklahoma…… clean pass through and amazing blood trail.
Shooting sevrs in practice mode dulls the blades! :((
I save one for practicing, but if you shot it once to ensure it flew true and wanted to hunt with it afterward, I wouldn't think twice about it.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I thought that but once you pull it out of the target it and feel the blades they aren’t super sharp anymore:(
@aarongoeppner413 maybe it helps that I shoot one of those shitty $40 block targets off Amazon 😂
As hunters and good Americans - I think you also need to look at where the product comes from - both are made in China. However, only one of them is designed by a convicted poacher ;)
😂😂
Why dodge ribs when u can put a swhacker thru em??? I want maximum damage period i dont dodge shit
nah, i think those are too weak we need 1 per $50 or more
😂😂
I like how people just repeat marketing
"They have German Blades, which everyone knows are great"
Based on what?
Surgical scalpels are made in The UK and The US.
What's the proof the German blades are anything but marketing hype?
If it helps, you could check out the wealth of information available through various sources that showcase their performance and durability.
We will see. My complete arrow build will be 418 grains
@user-nx8kk9no3x I agree. The heaviest I have ever run is 470 grains which I thought was too heavy for my setups.
Both trash
Already saw the beast head perform less than ideal shooting through a soft mushy gel block....
Keep that overpriced garbage !!!
I can’t stand that half of the cutting edge is blocked by those tabs. wtf is that?
Pass through both sides of rib cage on 2 deer last season with the sevr 2.0 robusto. Cut right through the rib bones. Blades did not bend whatsoever.
