I believe these scored the highest score for a expandable on Lusks test.If i were to use an expandale for hunting these sevr hybrids would be my first choice!
I’ve been watching reviews on this head for weeks now and no one has commented on the new tip. I’m glad someone finally called this out. It’s not sharp, it’s actually dull. Wouldn’t you want to be cutting/slicing on impact? “Stretching” instead of slicing seems to be a recipe for reduced penetration, especially if you encounter any bone.
I’ve ran Easton sonic 6.0’s (409 total weight) and heavy Gold tip hunters (650 total weight). There is certainly advantages on both sides of the spectrum. My old slow Matthews Drenalin really likes heavier arrows. I’m running 540 grain total weight this season. Seems to be a happy medium for my setup. Happy hunting! Best of luck.
I was practicing with my 2,0's and hit something inside my target which broke one of the little wings off my blade. I contacted Sevr about it just because I was surprised that the steel actually broke and they sent me a whole new broadhead! Talk about great service!
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors yeah it was a rinehart 18-1 broadhead target with the yellow rope handle. I caught a piece of the handle inside of the foam. I know because my next shot was in the same area with a fixed blade and got caught on something and I pulled yellow nylon out with it. To their credit, I contacted rinehart about it too, and they sent me one of their factory 2nd targets to replace it. So, props to both companies!
I fixed the quiver issue with my tightspot by putting bowmar grip tape inside the hood covering up the holes and now the tabs don’t make contact and I added the additional arrow gripper on the quiver to help keep everything in place. I had zero issues with the heads trying to open last season…. I really hope Sevr comes out with a hybrid 2.0. I shoot heavier poundage and have a longer draw. In my mind, it would be the perfect whitetail broadhead with my setup.
It's hard to say how much it affects performance. You definitely lose some cutting surface, which I mentioned in my Beast vs. SEVR comparison, but I've never had any issues putting deer down with them.
@@MichiganAmBushOutdoorsI used the hybrid 1.5 with a total cut of 2.2 about a week ago and I have to say the total cut was way bigger than advertised. looked like it exploded on impact. Crazy blood trail after.
right i used to use gold tip ultralight arrows they were around 360gr and very flat shooting, never once had a problem getting a pass-through on deer. imho heavy arrows for deer size game are very over rated. i think its all because of that fairy guys videos.
I'll take a look at those arrows. I was looking at the air strikes, but those close in GPI to the Rip. I wouldn't mind getting the weight down to 400 grains.
@yourmomma2995 but why go light, if your deer hunting and most deer are taken within 25 yards (at least in mid west) the time difference within that distance is almost none existent, a small fraction of a second and with a heavier arrow setup you have a better chance of breaking through bone on a bad shot or deer moves. I can put a 100grain feildpoint and broadhead on and a 200gr feildpoint and broadhead will hit damn near the same spot out to close to 40yards. This whole arrow weight setup argument is not even valid until your past 40yards😂 I spent days testing different weights and POI out to multiple distances and came to the conclusion why not go heavy if deer hunting withing 25 yards. Your only giving yourself an advantage with a not so perfect shot. Now with all that said I'm still a do what works for you and if your not having issues then why change. And EVERYONE puts words in the ranch fairy's mouth, he says if your having issues with penitration then go heavier, this information is more for newer hunters that are having problems with penitration. If your shooting 50# short draw length and your setup is 400ish grains and not getting pass threws and losing animals well tey something new and go up in weight because it works. If your going to talk shyt about someone at least know what the person your misquoting is actually saying instead of just going what others are saying. Sound like John dudley who was talking shyt about him after telling him he's never seen any of his videos and going off what others have told him and misquoted him as well. Go slap a 200 grain feild point on and shot with your normal setup and see the POI for yourself, and that .0003 seconds don't matter if that time effects your shot you probably shouldn't be taking that shot anyway

The beast scored higher on blade retention but the Sevrs always do well.

Hard to say without testing them. I’ll let you know how they work out.

They do have great customer service, but I'm surprised it broke. Do you have any idea what it hit?

@MikeJones-vb1me, I agree. Thats excellent customer service!

Very nice video. I've been exploring going back to mechanicals and this head is at the top of the list after I try the beast out
Thank you! I'll be running one of each in the quiver this year.
That's why I run a 2 point quiver don't need the foam in it so the heads just float inside.. but cool video I love that head
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Great review! I think you are going to love these this fall!
SEVR 1.75 will always be my go to for anything in NA!! I did buy the hybrid to try……. Would love it if they would make the 1.75 in hybrid.
I'll also have a 1.75 in the quiver this year. I'd like to see how that head performs.
I think you will like them
@stacyhardin611 how was the blood trial with them?
Complete pass through on a buck and a doe last season and the exit wound on buck was huge…. Great blood trail
I'll probably keep one of these in the quiver as well.
Not a mechanical user, but if I was, I would use the sevr’s. The one piece design is nice and the bleeders makes sense.
It's mean-looking broadheads.
Got to give them a try and see how awesome they are!
@SevrBroadheads, they will, without a doubt, be in my quiver!
Just curious. Do you notice any downfall to the over hang of them locking tabs coming past the cutting surface?
It's hard to say how much it affects performance. You definitely lose some cutting surface, which I mentioned in my Beast vs. SEVR comparison, but I've never had any issues putting deer down with them.
So if you run something against that blade with the deployment arm on it it actually makes the blades open wider giving you a bigger cut!
Great information! This is probably why the cut is always larger than what's advertised.

@pelawler15 sevrs are great for that!
Are these considered barbed or do they fold back like rage?
No, they are not barbed
I don’t trust how the flipper tabs covers up a portion of the cutting edge of the blades
I've never had any issues with it. With the 1.75, I thought they did a better job at reducing the Tab size
So that is a part of our Stretch Cut technology as that flipper gets pushed against while going through an animal it actually expands the head bigger.
418 grains isn’t really ultra light. Maybe 350 but not 418.
It’s the lightest hunting arrow I’ve ever run.

@tylersweeney22 This is all great information. I will see how this setup works, and I will make changes if needed.
.2 to .3... but showed a .6 grain difference...
I weighed them before I shot the video and should have recalibrated the scale before recording
Is Sevr the only thing to talk about???
Regarding broadheads?
Yes
More like .5” cut cuz half the fucking blade is covered. Who designed these? What the hell they thinking?
